Well, I just had this little idea stuck in my head. The first couple small paragraphs just quickly set the scene because I didn't want to dive too into it.

Jaune and Weiss both woke up on a strange beach after falling into the void. Jaune was the one who awoke first and managed to wake Weiss up from her slumber. After collecting their thoughts, the two decided to set out into the islands forest. It was fair to say everyone else was somewhere here as well so they should try to find them.

They traveled the whole day and didn't run into anyone else from Team RWBY. With the sun setting, they set up camp and Weiss retired when Jaune agreed to take first watch. She wasn't sure how long she was asleep for, but woke up after hearing a familiar voice.

"Jaune."

"Is that..." she mumbled groggily and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. They theorized they could actually be dead earlier, so hearing Pyrrha's voice might not be so farfetched.

Jaune suddenly tensed and shot in her direction while hitting a finger on his scroll. Upon seeing her he relaxed a bit. "Oh... Weiss." he acknowledged as she stood up.

She approached him and looked down at his scroll. "That... Was Pyrrha's voice, correct?"

Jaune nodded. "Yeah... It's... It's a training video. I watch it whenever I'm feeling stressed... Or upset... Or angry." he frowned. "It calms me down a bit... Sorry I woke you."

Weiss paused in thought for a moment before posing a question. "Do you mind if I watch it?"

"Huh?!" he looked up at her in surprise and she smiled lightly.

"Is it so strange? I haven't heard her voice in quite some time... I'm worried I might have forgotten it..."

Jaune looked back at his scroll to see Pyrrha's face staring at him. Honestly, he was a little apprehensive. This video... It was one of the few things he had left of his partner. It was... His. No one elses'. He hasn't even shown it to Ren and Nora which... Was probably wrong of him.

It seemed he took too long to answer because Weiss suddenly spoke again. She leaned back and looked away. "Of course, If it's a bit personal you don't have to..."

Jaune looked up at her and thought for a moment longer. "... No, no. It's nothing like that" he said and scooted over to give her room to sit against the tree with him.

Weiss smiled, accepting the gesture to take a step forward and turning around before sitting down in a kneeling position beside him. Jaune rewound the video and lifted it up between the two of them and hit play.

"Alright, Jaune, just like we practiced. Follow these instructions. Shield up." She waited a moment before continuing.

"Keep your grip tight. Don't forget to keep your front foot forward." She waited once more.

Weiss giggled a little. "Just like my training with Winter. 'Head up, shoulders back, right foot forward... But not too forward!" Winter always chastised her about her stance.

"Ready? Go." She waited a bit longer this time, most likely for him to finish the routine.

Jaune glanced over to see Weiss smiling at his scroll. She's been slowly growing a happier expression ever since they met back up in Mistral. He himself smiled for a brief moment as well before turning back to the video. His smile faded as he knew what Pyrrha was to say next... Honestly, showing Weiss this might've been a mistake.

"Again!"

"And again."

"Okay. Now." she giggles a little. "Assuming you aren't cheating, we can take a break."

Weiss was enjoying the video. Hearing Pyrrha's voice again was... Nice. Especially her speaking so casually. Not a news feed or official recording.

Pyrrha smiled. "I know this can be frustrating..."

"... And it can feel like so much effort to progress such a small amount, but I want you to know that I'm proud of you. I've never met someone so determined to better themselves. You've grown so much since we started training." She paused in thought.

Weiss faltered a bit and her happy expression slowly faded.

"And I know this is just the beginning." Pyrrha turns her head, struggling with her thoughts for a moment.

"Jaune, I- I..." she places her hands over her heart. "I want you to know that I'm just happy to be a part of your life. I'll always be here for you, Jaune."

Jaune reached out and hit the screen to pause it then lowered the scroll to his side. The two of them sat there in silence, neither one looking at the other. It must have been at least a full minute until Weiss spoke up.

"You didn't have to show me that."

He smiled sullenly. "That bad, huh? I guess I've gotten used to it." he sighed.

Weiss lifted her left hand up and placed it on his shoulder and he turned towards her. "Jaune, that video it... " she paused. "How many times have you watched it?"

Jaune looked away now and shrugged. "I don't know... Too many." he answered. He could feel her hand clutch against his shoulder.

"Jaune... I... Keepsakes are good but... You're torturing yourself."

Jaune looked away. "Well, maybe I deserve it."

Weiss' eyes widened "What?!"

He stood up abruptly and Weiss' hand slid off him. "I deserve it!" he stated again and looked down at the ground, fists clenched in frustration. "I deserve to be tortured for everything I've done."

Weiss couldn't believe what she was hearing. She stood up as well. "That's just not true. Jaune, you haven't done anything wrong!" she tried to reassure him but could tell it didn't do anything.

Jaune's teeth clenched and he turned towards her now. "'Haven't done anything wrong'?! Are you kidding me Weiss? I've done nothing but wrong since the beginning!" he was starting to shout now and she could see the pain flash across his face.

She opened her mouth to speak again, but he didn't let her and kept going. "I cheated my way into Beacon!" he began and lifted a single finger up. "I got my partner killed!" he lifted a second one. "I got you impaled through the gut!" he lifted a third finger and Weiss' eyes widened. "My team lost the lamp and Oscar in Atlas!" He lifted two more fingers for a full 'five' on one hand but then lowered it. His eyes began to water.

Weiss spoke out this time to try and intervene. "Jaune, listen to me-"

But he didn't. "And to top it all of I killed Penny!" he lifted his hand to slide it through his hair. "I killed her." he stated again in a lower volume. "Not 'got her killed' and it wasn't an 'accident'!" he sobbed. "I to-... Took my sword..." he reached down and unsheathed his broken blade. "And I it ran it through her..." his eyes flinched and tears were now falling down his cheeks.

"This sword is supposed to be a relic of my family. Passed down from father to son for generations. It represents everything I've wanted to be! A huntsman, a hero! But now it's broken! And for good reason, too." The blade shook in his hand and he tossed it aside. It hit into the ground a couple times while tumbling until it landed on it's side. He sniffled. "I'm no hero. I shouldn't even be here!"

Weiss couldn't believe what she was seeing, what she was hearing. No... Maybe that's not entirely true. Out of everyone in their group, Jaune might have very well been through the most grief. Especially after Penny. But she couldn't just watch him fall apart like this... It was... Unsightly to say the least.

She faltered for a moment, but her lips formed a line. Reaching up, she grabbed the upper rim of his armor and pulled down to bring him lower. "Wha-?!" he mumbled but didn't get a chance to speak. Weiss closed her eyes and leaned up while pursing her lips to place them on his own.

She could feel him tense up in surprise. Though after just a moment he brought his arms around her, placing one on her upper arm and another on her waist. They stayed like that for just a few more seconds before Weiss slowly pulled away and looked up at him. He cheeks were flushed, yet felt a bit braver when she noticed his were as well behind all the tears.

She let go of his armor and lifted the hand up to cup his cheek, wiping the tears away with her thumb then moved to do the other side with the back of his hand. "Please... Please don't say you shouldn't be here." she placed her hand on his shoulder now and held it.

Jaune didn't say anything and just stared down at her for the first few seconds. "You... You shouldn't have done that." his eyes narrowed and head shook lightly. "I don't-"

"It's called a 'lady's favor', mister knight." Weiss interrupted. "And I'll have you know you're the first I've ever given it to despite the many, many men attempting to obtain it." she brought her other hand up now to place on his opposite shoulder and got more comfortable in his arms. She could feel him tense again from her movements. This is definitely the closest the two have ever been.

"You would do best to consider your answer. Should you turn down the lady's offer, it tends to be replaced with their scorn." she smiled playfully and could feel him relax. His expression soothed by her words and touch. It felt... Nice to see him so effected.

Jaune sighed. He was at a loss for words. "... I don't think I need to consider much." he ended up saying and started to lean down towards her. Weiss pushed up off her toes and the two connected once more. This time the kiss was much more consensual. They both felt their arms and body melt into each other and it was deepened. Neither one wished for the moment to end, but their lungs demanded air so they separated, both taking a hasty breath.

"Whew..." Weiss breathed with rose tinted cheeks. Jaune's expression looked a tad bit more impish and embarrassed. She found it rather humble of him and leaned in once more, this time for a hug. She settled in and rested her head in the crook of his neck while his arms wrapped further around her.

A few minutes passed and the two found themselves settled on the grass resting against the same tree as before. Weiss took off her shawl and Jaune his armor so they could ease into each other more comfortably. She was leaning into his left side, resting her head against his upper chest and Jaune wrapped an arm around her waist. They were in quite the scandalous position.

Some time passed with them just cuddling into one another when Jaune mumbled a bit. "Hm?" Weiss looked up, rubbing herself against his chest as she did so. "Did you say something?"

He seemed a bit awkward. Looked away from her for a second but then turned back. "It's just... How did... 'This' happen?" he asked and gave her a light squeeze with his arm. One she very much enjoyed and even smiled from. "N- not that I'm complaining!" he added in a tiny panic. "It just... I don't know, feels like it came out of the blue."

Weiss let out a light chuckle and slid her head back down to stare into the forest. "I suppose it does seem that way, doesn't it." she sighed wistfully. After a brief pause she began to speak again. "But Jaune, I've been struggling with... 'This'-" she snuggled into him a bit. "For quite some time."

Jaune blinked. "Really?" he asked with disbelief and Weiss released a giggle.

"I'm not surprised you didn't notice. I wasn't very forthcoming about it." she admitted. "Back during our time at Beacon, I treated you quite harshly didn't I?" she posed it as a question but continued before he could answer. "Back then I thought any man who approached me was strictly after my family riches. I was silly and stubborn." she closed her eyes and rested against his chest. "It wasn't until the Dance that I realized the one I saw as a fool was actually a budding knight..." she released a regretful sigh. "Then it wasn't until you saved my life at Haven for me to realize the knight in question was my knight." she opened her eyes and frowned. "My knight, which I dismissed at every opportunity."

Jaune pulled her in more and she shifted to be more upright, now facing him. "Look, Weiss. Back then I should hav-" though she didn't let him finish and instead captured his lips with her own. He didn't fight it and simply accepted the kiss. She brought her left hand up to cup his cheek then slid it down his neck until it rested on his chest. She could feel him shutter from her touch, though she wasn't fairing much better from his own. Pushing him back a bit, she was able to end the kiss between them.

"I do not desire an apology, Jaune. Nor do I wish to apologize." she stated. "We've long since worked through those times. I just... Want you to know where I stand." she eyed him carefully. "Where... We stand?" she asked hesitantly.

He smiled and leaned in to place his forehead against hers. "Where we stand." he confirmed and tilted his head for them to lightly kiss once again. This time only for a second but it sent goosebumps down her spine.

Weiss let out a low giggle. "It's remarkable how easy this becomes once it's all said and out there." she felt Jaune shift and they reclaimed their older position in each others arms. With her resting on his chest and him holding her into himself.

"Yeah, I like it. It's a nice change of pace." he agreed.

Weiss closed her eyes and rested into him, fully intending to sleep in this position. "I need you, Jaune." she said and could feel him shift, holding her more tightly. "Ever since Haven I've been scared of getting hurt again. Scared of coming that close to... Death." she took a deep breath and sighed into him. "But then I think of you and it goes away. Because I know you'll defend me. Because I know that if I do get hurt you'll heal me." she smiled. "You give me the courage I need to keep fighting." she relaxed into him further. "I know my reasons are rather self-centered, but please stay by my side." she paused for a moment. "By all our sides." she added.

Jaune listened and was torn between emotions. He still felt like a failure, like he should have been good enough to find other solutions but... He couldn't help but feel happy from Weiss' words and actions. He released a sigh and settled into her as well, resting his head against hers and closed his eyes. "Okay, Weiss." he whispered. "I'll always be here."

He could hear her make a sigh of relief.
