It's a work in progress, but I will try to update whenever I am able to. If you get an idea for something that would be good in this story, please PM me and let me know what you think. If the idea seems good to me, I will add it to the story! This is my first published FanFiction by the way.

Thank you for reading! - ShadowUncured

Ruby

Darkness.

That's all I could see. It's the only thing that I knew existed. The last thing that I remember is falling off of the pathways that led to Vacuo. Blake fell with me. She had been right next to me. So that left me with one question.

Why wasn't she next to me right now?

"Ruby," a voice whispered. "Ruby Rose."

I had so many questions.

Who was whispering? Why was I the only one in this endless black abyss?

Where was my team and why weren't they with me?

My head was hurting. I'm pretty sure that my aura was broken, and I knew that I had no way to get back up to the pathways. I had no idea how much time had passed.

"Ruby Rose." the voice whispered again.

It sounded closer than before. It was definitely a female voice.

"What?" I whispered in a hoarse voice.

I must've been screaming for a while.

Jinn appeared in front of me.

"The Gods didn't want this to happen to you." She told me.

"Tell me something that the Gods did want to happen to me." I told her. She smiled.

"The Gods wanted you to be able to make the world right again. They wanted you to face against evil and win with friends by your side." She told me. I chuckled.

"In case you didn't notice, I'm down here, wherever this is, and none of my friends are here. Not a single person on my team is down here with me. How can I save the world with friends if there are no friends with me?" I asked her. She smiled.

"You just have to make new ones." She told me.

"WHAT?" I yelled. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS?" She smiled sadly.

"You died in Remnant, Ruby. To save the world, you have to go somewhere where you aren't dead and can make new friends to help aid you in your journey." She told me.

What?

"How is this supposed to work?" I asked her.

"I'll worry about the portal. You worry about saying that you accept the role you've been given." She told me.

"Uh... I accept?" I told her, a little bit wary of what she might do.

"Thank you." She told me with a mischievous smile.

I only had time to think uh oh before I fell through a blue portal.

As I fell through, I felt an immense pain throughout my entire body and saw Jinn giving me a cheeky grin as she gave me a small wave.

The portal closed and I fell onto a bed in a dark room.

Great. I thought. I just got out of a place where darkness was all I could see.

Then, in true fashion of anybody given news about how they are meant to save the world, I passed out.

Hey, first chapter (officially) completed! Please leave a review if you liked. Do nothing if you didn't like it. Either way...

I'm just happy if it's been read.
