Hey guys! Many moons ago I drew a funny little picture of Spock wearing a pink gown, socks and even one of those cone head dresses that princesses wear in fairytales. I called him 'Princess Spock.' Years later I was showing my friend Pinned_Dragonflys my lack of ability to draw, and showed her 'Princess Spock,' she loved it, and months later requested that I write a fic for him.
This is what I came up with, it was supposed to be a bit of fun, a crack fic if you will, like it was only supposed to be like 2k, but it somehow turned into more, however it is a fairytale, so don't expect a lot of accuracy about royalty etc, just enjoy the story.
Also, I snuck in a little Next Gen reference, hope you guys didn't mind ^_^
I hope you all enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Much love xox
Once upon a time, in a kingdom not as far away as you'd think, a baby was born. Not just any baby mind you, but a prince. From the moment he came into the world James Kirk was taught to eat, drink, dress, walk, and talk like a prince. He was a natural leader with charm and a chiselled physique to aid him in any conquest. Townspeople, servants, advisors, young and old, everyone loved Prince James, so it was no great surprise that when the King passed away everyone turned to their Prince for solidarity. Of course, James was to become King next, he had no siblings and there were no other challengers to the throne. The ceremony would be grand and joyous, it also meant that James now had to choose a bride, as a wedding would be part of the ceremony. He was allowed to select any woman he wanted, ladies were flirting and flaunting themselves at him day and night, and though it was advised that he choose someone of royal blood; a princess, it wasn't mandatory. This would have been all well and good, however there was just one problem; James Kirk did not fancy women.
It wasn't like he hadn't tried, he had, but they just didn't do it for him, he was exclusively into men. It was quite the problem when he was the sole heir to a throne and they expected him to get married and have an heir of his own. He didn't have much choice in the matter; it was just the way things were.
Since choosing a wife out of love or even lust was out of the question, James decided perhaps politics was his better option. It gave him some time at least, while every royal family they knew sent their unwed daughters to him to hopefully unite families and secure a great many other things.
One family however, sent an apology letter instead, the letter told of their daughter being taken at birth over twenty years ago, and hidden away in a tower too difficult to reach. This intrigued James, he loved adventure, and there were many reasons why saving a princess would be a good thing. He informed his mother and the advisors of his decision, most of them did not like the idea, but they all knew it was impossible to stop him.
So at dawn the next morning, the Prince set out alone on an adventure that would change his life. His silver mare; Enterprise, was the best marathon horse they had, there had been no doubt she would be his only companion for the journey. James didn't know exactly where he was going but he did know of the most remote and difficult places to get to in all of the lands. He would start with a place he had heard of but never been to; Oasis Mountain. The family the child had been taken from lived close by so it was a good bet.
It was a five day ride to the base of the mountain, and James had had a lot of time to wonder what this princess would be like. Surely, she would be more down to earth than all of the other princesses he had met recently, perhaps she would like to go adventuring with him after being stuck in a tower her whole life. Why was she even in a tower anyway? Regardless, they would have the entire journey home to get to know each other. He prayed that she would be an understanding and tolerant woman, with a fun and curious nature. Just because he wouldn't want to have sex with her didn't mean they couldn't be close and rule together more as friends than lovers. He was trying to be optimistic; he needed this to work out.
The bottom of the mountain was covered in tall trees, with thick roots arching out of the ground; one wrong step and his horse could break her leg. They took it slow through the trees, but upon reaching the other side, James decided he'd better continue on foot. The forest gave way to thorny bushes, from which James got scratched enough times that he lost count.
It was half way up the mountain that the terrain got really rough. The ground became just rubble over solid rock, and the narrow path that cut windingly up the mountain was treacherous, one wrong move and you could lose your footing, trip over, or just fall off of the edge completely. James was surprised to find himself back at the edge of a forest once he was nearing the top, though it was nowhere near as rough as the one lower down. While still dense, the trees weren't as daunting, there were flowers blooming, birds chirped cheerfully…and was that rushing water he could hear? It was much more picturesque up here, he figured this must be the reason it was named Oasis Mountain.
The further James went into the forest the more it levelled out and the more beautiful it became, it was like a whole different world up here. He walked through it in wonder, almost forgetting why he was there until he reached a small clearing, and there in middle of a field of wildflowers stood a tall, stone tower. It was so high that the tallest tree in the forest could not compare. James was mesmerised by the sight and slowly drew closer, noticing as he did so, that there was in fact a solid wooden door at the bottom of the tower. On closer inspection he realised that it was locked up tight, but that wouldn't stop James, he was adept at getting into places he wasn't supposed to be in.
James looked around and found a nice solid rock, he used it to smash the locks, and easy as pie, he opened the door and strolled through. He thought about calling out something funny like 'Fair maiden, your rescuer is here!' but he didn't want to give a bad first impression.
The steps were also made of stone and spiralled up and up to another door that James could only just make out from the bottom. He climbed the staircase eagerly, anxious to discover this mysterious woman. He started to take them two at a time and suddenly found himself at the top in front of the wooden door, this one had locks too, but they were not sealed he noted.
James ran his hand through his hair and adjusted his clothing, he cleared his throat and then knocked on the door. It felt like an eternity before he heard shuffling and then the turn of the handle, the door opened wide and suddenly James believed in love at first sight.
Most princes that would dare to climb such a treacherous mountain in search of a princess would have been sorely disappointed when the door opened, however James was not your average prince.
Standing in the doorway, lit up by the late afternoon sunlight streaming in the window, and dressed in a pink night gown with matching socks was the most gorgeous man James had ever laid eyes on. He stared at the man's dazzling features for long moments while his mouth gaped open, until the silence was broken.
"Oh, hello…" greeted the man uncertainly, he couldn't have been more than twenty two; not much younger than James.
"H-hello," James replied, his brain having left him.
"May I enquire as to who you are and what you are doing here?" the man spoke clear and concise.
Finally his voice worked again, a little too well, "Oh, forgive me, where are my manners…I am Prince James Kirk," he did a little bow, "I was informed that there was a princess locked away in this tower in need of a rescue. Finding you instead is much better than finding a princess any day though," James was giving full charm, "what's your name handsome?"
The man raised one eyebrow and observed James for a few seconds before answering, "I am Spock."
It was a bit of an odd name, but there wasn't much normal about this situation, and James wanted to know everything about him. He was about to say something but Spock beat him to it.
"The mountain is dangerous, I am sure your journey was tiring and you need to rest. Please come in, I would very much like to know more about why you are here," Spock spoke almost clinically, James already knew he was different to anyone else he'd ever met.
The room was more spacious than it looked from the outside. The large, neatly made bed was near the open window, a dresser, closet and bedside table were all positioned close by. On the other side of the room was a bookcase as tall as the ceiling and almost as wide. Books, games, quills, dried flowers, trinkets and a teddy bear were all precisely organised on the shelves. In the rest of the space sat a wooden table made for one and a single chair to match, next to which was a small hearth. It looked very cosy actually.
Spock motioned to James to sit in the single chair, and he did so, "Your, uh, home, is really nice, have you lived here your whole life?"
"Yes. Now tell me, in detail, about why you are here," Spock stood in front of James with his hands on his hips ready for an explanation.
The way Spock was pulling in the gown showed some of his figure, and James had no doubt that Spock was alluring under the clothes too. Spock was straight down to business though, and so James starting talking. He told Spock all about where he came from, about his ascension from Prince to King, and about the catch that he had to get married. James could see that Spock was listening intently and processing all of the information.
"What are you leaving out? You are extremely attractive, you come from a large kingdom, and have the freedom to marry any woman you desire, yet you travelled for days to 'rescue' a mysterious princess from a tower you did not know where, based on a letter from people you do not know…tell me James, why did you come here?" Spock was intelligent, he had heard everything and knew there was something missing from James' story.
James grinned, "You think I'm attractive?" the grin faltered a little, "uh, look, I honestly hadn't planned on…well, you…but you're right, I have the perfect life, I have women throwing themselves at me in my kingdom. I'm sure that one of them would have been a fine wife, and even the princesses I was sent, they too would have happily been my bride…" James licked his lips nervously, Spock's eyes followed his tongue, "however, there's a bit of a problem…I, uh, I haven't told anyone this before," he took a deep breath and then blurted it out, "I don't like women…I mean, I'm not attracted to women," he glanced up at Spock waiting to be judged.
Spock clasped his hands behind his back and paced back and forth on the small floor space a few times before stopping back in front of James, whose heart was racing, "Now that you have discovered that I am not a princess, what are you going to do?"
"Wait, you don't care that I like men?" James asked disbelievingly.
"No. Should I? When I read the books on my shelf, I always find myself more interested in the male character than the female character. Having no actual experience with either, I cannot say for certain, but it is logical that I also have a male preference," Spock admitted without shame or embarrassment.
James wished he could have the same confidence, "No, you shouldn't care, but people do, and therein is my problem," he sighed, "I don't know what to do, I would love for you to come back home with me. Since I'm being honest, I was pretty taken with you from the moment you opened the door," James paused, remembering the locks on the first door, "speaking of doors, what's your deal? Why are you locked up in here?"
James could tell he had hit a soft spot when Spock froze; he had been pretty short about his life so far. Spock cleared his throat, "I was…unsatisfactory at birth, so my parents locked me away from the world. You, ahem, may have noticed that my ears are a bit pointed at the top. My parents also wanted a girl, after already having four boys, I guess I drew the short end of the stick."
James had noticed the ears, though he thought they were rather adorable, if unique, certainly not something to be cast aside over, "That's pretty rough Spock, I'm sorry your parents are assholes. For the record, I think your ears are adorable," he couldn't imagine his own parents doing that to him, "how do you get supplies?"
"Oh?" Spock touched the tip of his ear but didn't say anything else about it, not that he needed to, the flush that had appeared on his sharp cheekbones said it all, "Pavel has looked after me my whole life, he lived here until I was old enough to sleep through the night, then he would come every morning, eventually it was every third day, but now I only see him once a week. He is getting older and cannot make the trip as easily."
"You only get out of this room once a week!? I would go crazy, I crave adventure."
"I walk up and down the stairs for exercise, which is why the door was not locked. When I do get let out, I spend the entire day roaming the forest; I know every inch of it."
"Have you ever been tempted to run away?"
"Where would I go? You are the only visitor that I'd ever had, besides Pavel, I don't even know my parents. All my knowledge is from Pavel and the books he brings me."
James considered his words, "You have a place to go now, you will be safe with me, I promise," he slowly rose from the chair and came to stand in front of Spock, he drew one of Spock's hands into his own while staring into deep brown eyes. James brought Spock's hand up to his face and kissed the knuckles, Spock shivered, "Come with me…"
Spock stared back into Jim's bright blue eyes, "I-I do not know if I can, this is all I know, this tower, this forest is my world. I need to think about it," Spock worried his bottom lip and took his hand back gradually.
"I understand, it's a big scary world out there, take the night to sleep on it. I must leave in the morning though, my horse is waiting, and I have to get back to my people. If you do decide to come with me, and you truly do not like it, I will bring you back, I promise," James was making many promises this evening, to a man he hardly knew, but it felt right, he'd never felt such an immediate connection before.
"That is very kind of you James. I have a question though…"
"Ask anything."
"Are you intending on marrying me if I come with you?"
James chuckled, but the end turned sad, "The law states that a man cannot marry another man. If it were not that way, then yes, I would propose to you. Unfortunately, I don't think the fact that you're supposed to be a princess will allow me to bend the law."
"You are going to be the King, yes? Can you not change the law?" there was something in Spock's voice; hope maybe?
"I cannot change laws until I am king," James told him dejectedly.
"Who is in charge until you become king?"
"Uh, well, my mother I suppose."
"Can she change the law?"
"I mean, I suppose it's possible, but why would she?"
"Perhaps if she were to see how happy you were with someone, if you explain your predicament to her, she would consider it…"
James shrugged noncommittally, "I'm doubtful that it would change anything."
"You have not tried, so you do not know for sure," Spock pointed out.
"I'm afraid Spock, I'm afraid I will lose everything," James admitted quietly before plonking down in the chair and rubbing his face with his hands. He had been through all this in his mind so many times while trying to find a loophole in the marriage clause of his ascension. The cons seemed to outweigh the pros, and until now there had hardly been anyone he was interested in.
Spock frowned and moved forward to kneel in front of James, he took the Prince's hands in his own, "I will come with you, I will help you to get the laws changed, and if it goes wrong, I can offer you a place to go," he glanced around the room, "it's not much, but I would be glad of the company."
Jim kissed both sets of knuckles and then Spock's cheek, making the man blush again, "I was stoked to find a man in this tower, a gorgeous man I might add, but the longer I spend with you the more grateful I am. If you are sure, we will leave in the morning, you will only be able to bring what we can carry on horseback."

"Are you ready?" James called from the bottom of the staircase.
"Yes, I am just leaving Pavel a letter," Spock shouted back as he signed his name on the bottom of the parchment. He laid the quill down and picked up his bag by the door, turning as he did to take one last look at the only home he'd ever known. It was terrifying and thrilling to trust a man who he had only met yesterday, to leave for the unknown, and to potentially fall in love and get married.
Spock smiled to himself about the prospects ahead and closed the door on his old life. He trotted down the steps and met James at the bottom where he was waiting for Spock.
"Allow me carry your bag for you," James requested with his hand out.
"Oh, um, okay…thank you."
"My pleasure," the Prince smiled and began to lead the way through the forest, going back the way he had come yesterday.
Spock let James lead, he wanted to take in everything one last time, and besides, he didn't know what side of the mountain James had come up. At the edge of the forest Spock became nervous; this was the furthest he had ever been, but he looked at James' encouraging smile and took his outstretched hand. James' hand helped to steady him as they made it down the rocky part of the mountain, after which was the thorny bushes; James tried to pick the best path through them, but it was difficult and they both ended up with a few minor scratches and James' shirt being torn across his chest. Spock had blushed when James caught him staring, he had never seen another person naked, and even worse; he was perhaps a little infatuated with James.
Finally, they made it out the other side of the thorns and to the edge of the dense forest. James turned his head left and right looking for something, and then he put two fingers in his mouth and whistled loudly. After a moment, Spock heard a sound he had never heard before, but he recognised immediately from Pavel's teachings. He had seen drawings of horses, but nothing compared to the majesty of the real thing.
James grinned as his horse came out from behind a tree a few metres away, "There you are!" he exclaimed and quickly went to greet the horse, patting it's neck and rubbing his hand along the nose, "good girl," he cooed then turned to Spock, "Spock, this is Enterprise, she's my best horse."
"She is beautiful, may I pat her?" Spock asked drawing slowly closer.
"Of course, just put your hand here like this and give her a pat," the Prince explained, demonstrating on her neck.
Spock replicated the action and gasped when he touched her; she was so soft. He wanted to spend all day just patting Enterprise, but he knew they had to get going, so he looked to James, who was attaching Spock's bag to the horse.
"Time to get moving," the Prince said with a smitten smile, "we will go on foot through the forest, but be careful of all the tree roots sticking out."
It took longer than James had wanted to get through the forest, but they arrived on the other side safely, so he wasn't complaining. Once on flat ground again, they mounted Enterprise and set off for James' kingdom.
XXX
It took almost seven days to get back, it was slower with two people, but that was fine with James; it gave him time to get to know Spock better. The more they talked and laughed and flirted, the more the Prince fell in love.
It was on the third night that they kissed. James could tell Spock had never kissed anyone before, but he quickly got the hang of it. They kissed a lot after that, James didn't try to take it further, even though he wanted to, god knows he wanted to. He could tell that Spock was following his lead and he didn't want to make him do anything he wasn't ready for. There was also the consideration that Spock was very much a virgin and if they were going to have a life together, he didn't want their first time to be out in the open smelling of horse and fire smoke.
On the last night James became anxious, he didn't talk much, and fell into a restless sleep, waking with the sun the next morning. Spock tried to console him, but to no real avail. They rode the rest of the way mostly in silence, only partially due to the wind that had come up making Spock have to flip his cloak's hood up, which effectively hid most of his face.
Upon approaching the gates, the Prince announced, "Welcome to your new home Spock."
The horse slowed its pace and James greeted the guards as they passed through the gates. The Prince continued to greet people as they passed by on the way to the castle. Spock hid in his cloak and hood, finding himself nervous around so many people. He could hear people murmuring to each other and clung on to James tighter.
"It's alright," James whispered, "they're just curious."
Word travelled fast that the Prince was home, and had brought someone with him. More people came to spectate and James wondered if all this was a good idea, but he pushed through the crowd and finally made it to the castle where the guards let him through, cutting off the townspeople.
He rode straight up to the front door and then hopped down from the horse, helping Spock to do the same, all the while keeping his cloak and hood drawn around him.
James removed Spock's bag and then turned to one of the guards nearby and handed him the reins, "Please ensure that the stable boys take good care of Enterprise, she's had a long journey," he patted the horse, once more praising her and then offered Spock his hand, "are you ready?"
Spock breathed deeply, shouldering his bag and then took James' hand, "As ready as I can be."
The doors opened and James strode inside, leading Spock through the hallways heading towards the main hall. Guards opened the doors there too and the room grew silent before a middle aged woman sitting on what was obviously the throne rose from her seat, "James!" she exclaimed before rushing to him.
James let go of Spock's hand and rushed forward to embrace the woman, "Mother, it is good to see you."
"And you, I was beginning to worry, but here you are, and you've brought someone with you I see…" she had a knowing glint in her eye and suggestion in her voice.
The Prince pushed down his anxiety and led his mother by the hand to Spock, "Mother, I would like to introduce you to Princess Spock."
Spock pushed his hood back and bowed, "It is a pleasure to meet you," Spock said feigning confidence.
The Queen gaped, her eyes going back and forth between the two men in front of her.
"The letter was a lie mother, they have no daughter. Spock was the fifth boy born to a family that wanted a girl, so they locked him away and made up these lies. I brought him back to live with us," the Prince's next words were louder and directed at everyone in the room, "and I expect him to be treated with kindness and respect."
"I see, well then, welcome Spock," the Queen nodded to him and then griped her son's arm and spoke quietly to him, "this means you still have no bride, James, you cannot keep delaying this. I have been patient with you, but you must choose a wife."
James' eyes darted to Spock, "Um, I actually have something I need to talk to you about…"
"No, there will be no more delaying or pussyfooting around, tomorrow night we shall have a feast and you will announce your bride to be. That is that," she told him sternly, "now, Leonard will show Spock to his new room, and then you both need a bath."
James opened his mouth to say something but she had already turned away and was heading back to the throne. A man in his early thirties approached them with a grin, "James!"
"Bones!" the two men hugged tightly, "How's Carol and the kids?"
"Everyone's great, little sprouts have grown a foot while you've been gone," Leonard told him proudly.
"Ah! I can't wait to see them," James grinned then turned to Spock, "Spock this is Leonard McCoy; a healer, an advisor, a friend and one of the best damn people I know."
Leonard elbowed him fondly, "I've known James his whole life; my mother was basically his nanny, he's always getting into all sorts of trouble, and somehow manages to get me involved in his schemes too."
"As if you'd want it any different," James teased him.
Leonard just laughed and then motioned towards the door, "Come on, let's get Spock settled in then you can tell me all about your adventure."
The three men moved along hallways and up stairs, Spock thought he might get lost for a while; the sheer size of the building alone was overwhelming. They eventually arrived at a solid wooden door which Leonard opened to reveal a room larger than the one Spock was used to in his tower. It was set up rather similar to his room though, but without that lived in feel to it.
"I hope that this room is satisfactory Spock, you're welcome to make it your own. One of the maids will come and show you where the bathing room is soon."
"The room is fine, thank you," Spock replied glancing at James.
The Prince could see that Spock was a bit uncertain about being left alone, "It's alright, my room is at the end of the hall, I'll find you when Bones has finished filling me in on what I've missed, I promise."
Spock nodded, "Very well, I shall see you soon."
James and Leonard walked further down the hall to the end where James opened the door to a room twice the size of Spock's, "Come in Bones, I am dying to take these filthy clothes off and lay on something soft."
Leonard followed the Prince into his room and closed the door, but he lingered in the middle of the room silent while James went behind a screen to change.
"The silence is deafening Bones, what's wrong?" James came out wearing fresh drawers and a shirt that wasn't ripped but was clearly old and loved. He crossed the room and sprawled on the over-sized bed, "Ahhhhhh," he groaned happily.
"James…" Leonard started cautiously.
"Oh no, that's your 'I've got something to tell you and you're not going to like it' voice," James moaned.
Leonard sighed but continued, "I've never brought this up before, because it's your business, and frankly it doesn't bother me, you'll always be my best friend, but James you can't just bring strange men home to live with us and expect no one to notice or say anything about it, about you…"
The Prince raised his head off of the soft pillows and looked directly at his friend, "What are you implying?"
"You can't really believe that I don't know, James, I know you aren't interested in women, which is why you've been putting off picking a wife," Leonard stated.
James sat bolt upright, "How long have you known?"
"Since you were fifteen and completely uninterested in any of the beautiful girls that graced your presence. At first I thought that maybe you were just a late bloomer, but then I saw you kissing one of the stable boys, and another time receiving-"
James cut him off, "Alright, I get the point. Why bring it up now?"
"Because you have always been cautious, but bringing Spock here is the complete opposite. Having a live in fuck buddy is only going to complicate things and raise questions," Leonard was on a role, he was always good at lectures, "I don't think your future wife is going to like the idea much either, though I have no idea how you think you're going to get out of that, there aren't any loops holes, I've checked."
"So have I, I've been going over this in my mind for a long time now, I've narrowed it down to three options. Option A; I marry a woman and be miserable for the rest of my life. Option B; I tell my mother everything and implore her to change the laws about who I can to marry. Option C; I run away," Leonard looked at James like he was daft, "I mean Option C is more for if Option B doesn't work out, because I've decided that I'm not going through with Option A."
"You've gone mad, your mother isn't going to allow you to marry a man and then become the king," Leonard exclaimed throwing his hands in the air.
"I've got to try Bones, I can't marry someone I'm not even attracted to. Please say you'll support me when I speak to my mother…" James waited on baited breath.
Leonard sighed defeated; he knew when James had set his mind on something there was no possibility of changing it, "Of course I will, hell, if I have to run away with you so be it."
They both laughed at the prospect, "Thank you Bones, you're a true friend," James told him then after a beat said, "I really want this to work out. I can see it all you know, Spock and I ruling together, showing him so many new things, going on adventures together, and maybe we can adopt an orphaned child eventually. Keep peace and prosperity, and show people that different isn't always bad."
"You love him, don't you?" Leonard had never seen James like this, but he knew.
James grinned happily, "Yeah Bones, I think I do. He's gorgeous, intelligent, unique…he sees the world and is full of wonder, yet knows of its cruelty. I was gone from the moment I laid eyes on him."
"The, uh, the ears," Leonard motioned to his own regular, round ears, "don't bother you?"
"Not at all, I think they're adorable, I bet they're extra sensitive or something. Ahh, it feels so good to finally be able to talk about this with you. You don't know how many times I wanted to tell you…I was just too afraid to tell anyone in case word got out," James admitted, feeling a weight partially lifted from him.
"I apologise, I should have said something sooner."
"I guess we both should have, but I'm glad that it's out in the open now," James smiled, "so what did I miss?"
Leonard thought for a moment, "Hmmm…oh, there was a fight at the Ten Forward, what else? Oh, oh, turns out ole Monty has been seeing a coloured woman named Nyota. I have to say, she's quite pretty, Monty's got good taste."
"Good on him, as long as he's happy, that's all that matters," there were many stipulations and laws to be changed when he was the king, he just had to get there first.
Leonard plonked down next to him on the bed and rested a hand on the Prince's shoulder, "You're gonna be a good king James, I know you're going to do great things."
"Thanks Bones, let's hope I make it that far to do those things."
"I'm rooting for you, my liege," Leonard chuckled at his own joke.
James laughed and playfully hit Leonard in the upper arm, "Shut it or my first act will be to put you in the dungeon and throw away the key."
Leonard feigned a shocked gasp but couldn't help laughing, "You wouldn't dare."
James gave him a sly look, but couldn't hold it as a grin split across his face.
"Alright," the older man said as he got off of the bed, "you'd better go find your…boyfriend? Before the bath water gets cold."
James hopped up and found some pants to put on then followed Leonard to the door, "I guess he is my boyfriend," he smiled happily, "but you're right, I better go, he's probably a bit overwhelmed by everything."
They parted at the door, Leonard going to attend to some matters, and James going to find his boyfriend in the bath. The prospect of seeing Spock naked excited him, he wanted to worship every inch of his body, but he knew he had to wait, he didn't want to scare Spock off by moving too fast.
James followed the familiar corridors until he found the door to the bath, he could already smell the fragrances from outside the door. He pushed it open and walked around the screen that was obstructing the view from the door.
"Hello?" Spock said uncertainly, he turned in the largely oversized bath, that was big enough for at least four people, in time to see James walk into view, "Oh, James, I'm glad it's you. The maids offered to wash me, but I declined."
The Prince smirked knowing exactly how the situation would have gone down, "Oh did you now?" he began to undress, removing his shirt first, and then his pants, Spock's eyes never left him for a moment as he undressed, his mouth gaping slightly, "What if I offered to wash you?" his voice sultry as he stepped closer to Spock and ran a finger under his chin, effectively closing his mouth.
Spock visibly swallowed and then nodded, his eyes slightly unfocused.
James acquired soap and a wash cloth and put them on the edge of the bath before removing his drawers and sliding into the hot water. It felt so nice to have a hot bath, and even nicer to share it with someone hotter than the water, it was cheesy even as a thought, but accurate.
With soap and cloth in hand, James moved closer to Spock in the water. Spock was still staring at him, but there was a shyness now that they were so close, "If anything makes you uncomfortable just say so and I'll stop okay?"
Spock nodded, looking a little less timid, "I'm sorry, this is all new to me."
James smiled as he soaked the wash cloth and then rubbed soap onto it, "I know, you don't need to be sorry, I'll be patient…I'm just excited to show you everything the world has to offer. Now it's time to relax…" he gently took one of Spock's hands and began to rhythmically rub the cloth over his skin, starting with the fingers and working his way up to the elbow and then the shoulder and crossing the collarbone to come back down the other arm, leaving a soapy trail behind.
Spock had watched in the beginning, but soon his eyes slid closed, a small smile rested on his lips. The Prince could see that it was relaxing Spock, and it was also nice to become familiar with the other man's body in a sensual way. Once the arms were done, James shouldered the wash cloth and cupped water in his hands, spilling it over Spock's soapy shoulders and rinsing them clean. Next he moved on to Spock's firm chest, James rubbed circles of soap over the light array of hair and then under his arms and down the ribcage. More water rinsed him clean, before working on his toned torso and hips.
A light sigh escaped Spock's lips as James slid the cloth straight past his groin and started on his raised thigh. James made sure to wash the entire leg, toes and all before lowering it back into the water and replicating his actions with the other leg.
Only when he had finished with the front of Spock did James sit himself comfortably in the water, "Come sit here so I can do your back," he indicated between his legs and hazily Spock moved into position.
James continued his routine, drawing shapes on the perfect canvas of Spock's back. Spock was so relaxed at this point that he almost didn't notice when James returned to his hips and circled over the front of his thigh and underneath…
"Oh," the cloth slid over his ass cheek and then down his crack.
"Are you okay?" James asked softly, close to Spock's ear, in an attempt to not ruin the atmosphere.
Spock nodded slowly.
"Good, why don't you lay back on my chest while I finish washing you," James suggested in the same sweet tone.
Spock responded by doing as James had said and slotted his back against the Prince's chest, his knees bent and he laid his head on James' toned shoulder, eyes closed.
Once Spock was settled, James made sure to wash each buttock thoroughly and between them too, he was sorely tempted to play with the puckered hole, but there would be time for that later. It wasn't lost on James that Spock's breathing had picked up though and he had a feeling that things were getting hard under the water. He thought for sure that Spock could feel his interest against his back.
With his behind deemed clean, James moved higher, very carefully caressing Spock's balls and stroked them with his thumb. James could see the profile of Spock's beautiful face; his eyes were closed, lips parted, and when he moaned James saw that too. It was the sexiest noise he had ever heard, it made he cock throb, but he ignored it in favour of seeing what other noises he could draw from the man in his lap.
James got rid of the cloth, putting it on the side of the bath for later use. Now it was just skin on skin, finally his fingers touched Spock's nakedness, he had to bite his lip as Spock moaned louder this time. His fingertips traced Spock's balls and then danced up his solid erection as James began to lay light kisses up Spock's neck.
"James…" that one word was so full of need that the Prince couldn't tease him any longer. His hand curled around Spock's length and stroked him firmly. The air was full of Spock's moans, getting breathier and louder as James continued his ministrations, making sure to give the head attention too. James discovered that playing with the slit made Spock's hips buck, and fuck, if it wasn't the hottest thing he'd ever seen.
"You're so beautiful Spock," James whispered in his ear before licking up the shell and sucking on the little pointed tip while his hand pumped faster.
"Ughhnnn," groaned Spock as his breathing became erratic and James sensed he was close, "Mhhmmnnn, James, James!" Spock came the moment James bit his ear, and the Prince made sure he received every last drop of pleasure before releasing him.
Spock was boneless from his orgasm, and James shifted him so that he could get to his own neglected and throbbing erection. He knew it was going to be over quick; he was so hard it almost hurt. The moment he wrapped his hand around himself and started to jerk, fire ran through his veins. He played with the gland under the head, biting his lip and breathing hard, a few more strokes and… "Yes, uhhnnn, yes, fuck!" he came hard, head spinning for a few seconds as he relaxed against the tub.
Spock turned his head to look at James, who had a satisfied grin on his face as he leant in for a kiss which Spock reciprocated.
"I think it's safe to say that you like men," James stated when the kiss ended.
Spock huffed a laugh, "I should say so."
They cleaned up and got out of the water now that it was starting to cool. After a make out session and some ass grabbing, they went back to James' room; he wanted to show Spock all of his most prized possessions.
The sun was setting when there was a knock on the door. James' head snapped to the door from his position on the bed where Spock was laying sideways, head on James' chest. Spock lifted his head so that James could get the door.
"Yes?" the Prince asked as he opened the door just enough to poke his head through; it was Leonard, "oh, hey Bones, what-"
"Your mother has requested your and Spock's presence for dinner," Leonard told him, but there was a disconcerting look on his face.
"What's wrong?"
Leonard glanced around and then leant in, "I think she knows. I hope you're prepared for this. You need to come with me, now."
The heart in James' chest was racing. How had his mother found out so fast? What would she say? What if she disowned him? He had to calm down, he had to show confidence and certainty. He nodded, not trusting his voice right that second, and motioned for Spock to come over to him.
"We, uh…we are having dinner with my mother now, and…and well, she knows about us, so, yeah, prepare for that I guess," the Prince gave a nervous laugh and headed back into the room, retrieving two jackets, one of which he handed to Spock; it would make them more presentable for dinner.
As Spock put the jacket on he had a look on his face that reminded James of a hare caught in a trap.
"Last chance to ditch all this and go back to your tower…" he joked, only it wasn't completely a joke, he wouldn't blame Spock if he did.
Spock responded by reaching out for James' hand and holding it tightly, "You are not getting out of your marriage proposal that easily."
That caused the Prince to smile, and Leonard to roll his eyes, "Come on you two, don't want to be late for your impending doom."
"Gee, thanks Bones, way to stay positive."
Leonard led them down to the dining room in uneasy silence, and when the guards opened the door, James took a deep breath intending to enter charismatically but he didn't have the chance.
"Sit," the Queen commanded from her seat at the head of the long solid table, "you too Leonard," she added before he could escape.
James sat in his set position at the table, Spock next to him and Leonard across from him, "Good evening mother," he tried.
"Are you determined to dishonour your family? Do you not wish to become king?" she started, her voice livid, "Have we not given you everything?"
"No-yes, mother, listen I-"
"No, you listen. I know what you and this…man have been up to, and I can't believe that you would do this. This is foolishness, what did you think was going to happen? You have no future with him, you can't have children, it is wrong," she turned on Leonard then, "and you! Did you know about this? Did you allow this to happen under my nose and not put an end to it?"
"I-I-" Leonard stuttered, not knowing what to say, but it didn't matter because she was back to shouting at her son before he could think of something to say.
"I will not allow this to continue, James you will take a wife and that will be that. I'm just glad your father isn't here to see this, he would have passed on all over again."
James' mouth fell open, he couldn't believe she had just said that about his father, he rose from his chair, tugging Spock out of his and stormed out of the room, Spock on his heels. He flung doors open as he left the castle, once outside he headed for the stables; no one else would be around there at this time of day. Making a beeline for Enterprise's stall, James opened the gate and went in, stroking her as he went past to the back of her stall where there were bundles of hay. He sat in the hay and drew his legs up to his chest, a single tear slid down his cheek and he hurriedly wiped it away, but another replaced it.
Breathe, he told himself, but the tears kept spilling down his cheeks. Spock cautiously sat next to him on the hay, clearly uncertain of what to do. All James could think was that it was his fault that Spock was in this mess. He was fine in his tower, he was content, but then James came and took him away, promised him a better life. It was stupid of him to believe that he could change anything, that he could fall in love and get married and be happy. Duty always came first, why would this time be any different?
James became aware of a face in front of his and his eyes refocused to reveal Leonard with a concerned expression, "James, breathe. Breathe dammit or you'll pass out, don't make me smack you."
He had hardly been aware that he wasn't breathing, but he inhaled and then exhaled, after a few more breaths he looked Leonard in the eyes, "It's all my fault, why did I fool myself into thinking I could be happy?"
"I'm sorry James, I wanted this to work out for you, but your mother is stuck in the ways of the laws that have been in place for decades," Leonard told him gently.
James turned to Spock, gripping his hands, "Please forgive me…"
"There is nothing to forgive of you, it is our right as humans to have the freedom to be happy, and make choices that lead us there," Spock squeezed his hands reassuringly, "we will work it out."

His sleep was as restless as the trees in the wind and when James awoke the next morning he felt dreadful. He wanted nothing more than to pull the blankets over his head and let the bedding swallow him so he didn't have to face the day.
Spock was curled around a pillow still sleeping. James cuddled up to him and pulled him in close, wanting just a few more minutes of peace. Unfortunately, he didn't get it.
There was a rapid knock on the door. James was tempted to ignore it, but it happened again and he was forced to get up. Spock raised his head sleepily and gave him a questioning look.
"Someone's at the door," he answered the silent question then cracked open the door enough that he could see who it was but they couldn't see he was only in his drawers.
"Morning," Leonard's voice was strained and he looked like he had gotten about as much sleep as James.
"You look like shit."
"And you're the picture of beauty this morning," Leonard replied sarcastically, "I've been sent to get the name of the woman you intend to marry so that she can attend the feast tonight," he sighed, ready for James to protest and throw a tantrum about it.
"Gaila."
"What?"
"Gaila," James repeated in the same defeated tone.
"Why?"
"She's sweet, beautiful and tactful, also bakes the best biscuits in the whole kingdom-"
"No, why aren't you making a fuss right now?"
"Gotta pick my battles, right? There's nothing you can do so I'd just be complaining. I need to conserve my energy for tonight."
"What have you got planned?" Leonard was suspicious; he knew when James was up to something.
"Nothing…"
Leonard just gave him a disbelieving look.
"The less you know the better, I don't want you to jeopardise the life you have, you've got Carol and the kids to worry about," James told him, "I'll see you, and all of our friends, at the feast."
"Good luck."
Leonard left and James went back to bed, wrapping himself back around Spock who was now awake, "Today I'm going to show you some of my favourite places and introduce you to my friends."
"That sounds pleasant, shall we start the day then?"
"Five more minutes," James negotiated and buried his face in Spock's neck.

They had stopped by his favourite bakery for breakfast, picking out cinnamon pound cake and jam filled sweet buns (because why not). The baker and his wife were friends of the Prince, and he introduced Spock not as his friend, but as his boyfriend. The husband and wife had looked at each other before smiling and telling James that they were happy for him, they even volunteered to make the wedding cake. James was thrilled at the offer and left reminding them to come to the feast that night.
Next on the list was Mr Sulu. James had known Mr Sulu, the blacksmith, for most of his life, he had made many things, mostly swords for George Kirk, James' father. He had also made George and Winona's wedding rings.
James entered first, searching the workshop for Mr Sulu, and soon found him prodding a long rod of metal into a fire, sweat beaded on his forehead.
"Don't sneak up on me like that boy," Mr Sulu warned, wiping his forehead with the back of his gloved hand and lowering his weapon.
"My apologies Mr Sulu, I have a request to make…" James told him, getting straight to the point.
"Oh? Don't tell me you have done something to that beautiful sword I made you," Mr Sulu eyed him.
"No, no, nothing like that, it's not even a sword. I would like you to make my wedding rings."
"Ah! Yes, of course, I would be honoured, and who is the lucky bride?" he glanced around as if she might be hiding somewhere out of sight.
James gestured to Spock, "This handsome fellow."
"Either you are a very ugly woman, or you are a man..." Mr Sulu frowned.
"He is all man, I can assure you."
"Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you are required to marry a woman, son."
"Not if I can help it Mr Sulu."
The old man smiled, "Ah, to be young and in love, I was in love once you know, but I let him go. It was the biggest regret of my life. Let me measure your fingers, I will get started straight away."
James learned something new about Mr Sulu that day. They left after making Mr Sulu promise to come to the feast that night.
Spock stopped briefly to look at the flowers a vendor was selling on the side of the road, and James bought him the one he liked best. That had earned the Prince a kiss on the cheek and a very happy Spock. The vendor had smiled and 'awwwed' at them as they went on their way.
They visited many places and many people, Spock thought they must have been to half of the kingdom by the time the sun was setting and they returned to the castle to quickly bathe and dress for the feast. James had been blown away by the amount of support he received from his people in regards to Spock. He idly wondered if they would still have felt the same way if he didn't have such a good rapport with them, regardless, he was grateful. As long as they all came to the feast, and still supported him in front of the Queen, then James felt as though tonight could be a success.
James dressed in a spectacular gold outfit, while Spock was given a stunning blue and green outfit to wear. When James told Spock how gorgeous he looked, Spock had blushed and kissed him, before returning the sentiment.
Leonard came to collect them when it was time, his outfit was a deep blue colour that really suited him. James and Leonard exchanged glances, but no words were needed, they knew what was about to happen, even if Leonard didn't know the details.
The three men walked in silence to the main hall, where long tables and equally long bench seats had been brought in, mountains of food had been laid out on the tables, especially on the one at the back of the room that ran in front of the throne. James could hear the townspeople chattering outside, waiting to be let in by the guards.
James took a deep breath and strode through the hall, head held high. The Queen sat on the throne with a smug smile adorning her face. Leonard squeezed James' arm, wishing him luck, and led Spock to their seats; not at the Queen and Prince's table, but close by.
"Mother," James greeted with an air of indifference, as he took his seat next to her.
"James," she acknowledged, but didn't look at him, "are you ready to do what must be done?"
"Yes," he replied simply, he was ready.
She smiled, but it wasn't kind, "Good," and louder she spoke to the guards at the doors, "let the people in."
At least one hundred people filled the hall, and the air was filled with the sounds of people talking, laughing, eating and moving about. James' eyes moved over the crowd, identifying everyone he saw, grateful that so many of his friends and loyal subjects came to the event. He noticed Gaila sitting as close to the royal table as she could get; James felt bad for her, but it was also the kinder thing to do. Finally his eyes settled on Spock, and when Spock looked back at him, James blew him a kiss; he would never tire of Spock blushing. Leonard had not left Spock's side, which James was grateful for, but he also noticed Mr Sulu sitting across the table from them and that made James smile.
Even though his mind was made up, a little wine never hurt to sooth the nerves; he didn't allow himself to become drunk though, he needed a clear head for his speech. Speaking of which, seemed to be coming up very soon.
Most people had finished eating, some were still picking at the spread, when the Queen rose from the throne and called for silence. James wanted to disappear, suddenly his heart was racing and his palms were sweaty.
"Thank you all for coming to this very special feast tonight. As you all know, our Prince, James, will become your new King soon," she waited as the people cheered and clapped, "however, before doing so, he must marry, and while it has taken him a considerable amount of time to decide on a bride, what with you all being such lovely ladies, he has finally made his decision…and now we will hear it…" the Queen gestured to James to rise and speak as she took her seat again.
James breathed deeply and stood, he scanned the audience, finding all of their eyes were on him. He glanced at Gaila and she smiled brightly at him, he gave her a small smile back and then looked elsewhere, "Hello, friends, and loyal subjects. Since the day I was born I have been told who I should be and what I should do, and for the most part I stuck to it, I have a great life to show for it. I have wonderful friends and kind, loyal subjects who trust me to rule the right way, to be a fair, kind and protective king. I want to be that king for you all, I believe I am ready to be that king, however, first I must take a spouse," James paused, taking in the audience, all eyes were still focused on him, smiles on most of their faces, everything was about to change. He could still take the easy way out and just marry Gaila…James caught sight of Spock smiling at him, it made his heart jump, he put his hand over his chest and there was no doubt in his mind that he was either going to marry Spock or get exiled trying. He continued, "I have never been opposed to marriage, but I had never been in love either, hence, this decision was not made easily, or lightly, until I found the right person, a person I want to spend the rest of my life with, to rule by my side, I just hope that you all can accept my decision…" James stepped out from behind the table, and went to stand in front of Spock. There were a couple of gasps, but mostly everyone was waiting on baited breath. He got down on one knee and took the other man's hands in his own, "Spock, the moment you opened that door, you opened the door to my heart, and it was love at first sight. You see the beauty in a world that can be cruel and harsh, you're soft and sincere, your exquisiteness is only rivalled by your intelligence, and I want to wake up with you by my side every day for the rest of my life. Spock, I love you deeply, please say you'll marry me?"
The room exploded into a flurry of people talking over each other, some calling out "do it!" and "say yes!" while others were 'awwwing,' and one or two 'booing,' but most were positive reactions.
Sometime while the crowd was yelling their support, Spock gave James a watery grin, and an answer, "Yes, yes, yes, always and forever, yes James, I am yours."
James stood and pulled Spock in for a passionate kiss, lifting him slightly off of the ground in his arms, he was so happy, everything felt so right. The townspeople cheered, whistled and clapped for them as they kissed…and then the Queen stood rapidly, causing her table to screech and the crowd to fall silent.
James and Spock stopped kissing and turned to look at the Queen. Her face was contorted in anger and disgust, "How dare you!?"
"I did what I had to mother, and it seems like the kingdom supports my decision," the crowd cheered at James' words, backing him up, "if the people can accept me for who I am, and still want me as their king, then why cant you?"
"I-I," her eyes darted wildly around the room as if searching for answers. Apparently she couldn't find any though, because the next moment she stormed off through a side door and left the feast.
James looked back at Spock and knew this man was worth all of it, James took his hand and led him to the royal table, where James spoke to the people, "I am honoured that you have chosen to accept me as your king, I will always do my best for each and every person in this kingdom. Thank you all for joining me on this special occasion, please feel free to stay longer and eat more. See you all for the wedding and coronation," he had won over the people easily enough, now the real challenge would be his mother.

The sky was blue, the birds were singing, and a slight breeze carried the fragrance of spring through the air. It was a perfect day to get married. James Kirk stood at the alter in his newly made white and gold wedding clothes, Leonard stood next to him, of course it was Leonard, there was no one else that James would rather have next to him as he waited for his future to walk down the aisle.
The Queen had allowed the union to go ahead, though it was mostly due to the fact that the townspeople threatened a riot if she didn't. Winona had made it quite clear that she did not want any part of this wedding, and so she was going about her daily business pretending as though her only son was not getting married and crowned today.
James was saddened that he couldn't get his mother to come around, she had been there through everything else in his life, but just couldn't accept that he loved a man. He wouldn't let that ruin his mood today though, today was going to be the best day of his life.
Just about everyone came to celebrate, chairs were set up for James' closest friends, and the rest stood, milling around in the grass. They had decided not to hold the ceremony in the courtyard; it was more beautiful out in the meadow. A white arch weaved with strings of flowers had been erected for the grooms to stand under, and a red carpet laid down the middle of the seating leading to the arch. Bouquets of roses, tulips and daisies sat in various places around the arch and up the aisle. The chairs had all been filled, everything was ready to go, and all that was left to do now was to get married.
"Are you ready?" Leonard asked the Prince.
Anticipation bubbled up inside James as he looked out over the crowd, "Definitely," he turned to the band and nodded to them, "punch it."
That traditional wedding music that everyone knows began to play, and James noticed a guard placing a single chair in front of the front row. It was a shock to see his mother slip in and fill the seat. She gave him an apologetic smile and James grinned; it meant a lot that she had shown up.
James turned his focus back to the aisle where Joanna, Leonard's daughter, was throwing rose petals in the air as she skipped down the red carpet to be caught by her mother at the end and pulled to the side. At the very end of the aisle James could see Spock with Mr Sulu; Spock had no one to give him away, and Mr Sulu had offered. Together they walked slowly down the aisle, Spock looked as gorgeous as ever in a newly made white and baby blue wedding outfit, a shy smile on his face and eyes only for James.
The Prince beamed as he and Spock locked eyes, he couldn't believe he was so lucky; he had found the love of his life, gained the acceptance of the kingdom, and now his mother, and was about to become a husband and a King.
As Spock made it to the end of the aisle, James took his hands and led him under the arch where they stood with Leonard, Mr Sulu and the priest.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Prince James and, er, Prince-ss Spock…"
There was mirth in James' eyes as he brought Spock's hand up to his mouth and kissed the knuckles while Spock blushed.
"Though they have not known each other long, it is not the length of a relationship, but knowing when you have found the other half of your heart. You just have to look at this pair to know that they adore each other. Now, I believe Mr Sulu, you have the rings?"
Mr Sulu procured two beautifully crafted rings, both made of gold with a solid blue ring right around the middle. He held them out to the two grooms.
"Oh…they're perfect!" James exclaimed as he took Spock's ring from Mr Sulu.
"Now, you both have your own vows, James, you first…"
James took a deep breath, grinning and gazed straight into Spock's brown eyes, "Okay, wow, okay. Spock…I don't know if I ever truly expected to find love, I certainly wasn't expecting to find it when I knocked on the door of your tower. I couldn't believe that there was this gorgeous being out there, hidden away from the world. Though life has been unkind to you from the start, you are full of compassion and wonder. I can't wait to live the rest of my life with you, see the amazement in your eyes with each new discovery. With this ring, I promise to keep you safe, to treasure you every day, to spoil you, and to love you no matter what…" James slid the ring onto Spock's left ring finger, he raised his eyes to see tears spill over and roll down soft cheeks.
The priest quickly wiped his eye and cleared his throat, "Ahem, uh, Spock, now your vows…"
Spock bit his lip and then locked eyes with the Prince, "James…James, you have turned my world upside down. I thought I was content, happy, with my life, but I did not know how much I was truly missing until I met you. You have shown me things that I had merely read about, given me so much more than I could ever had dreamt of before you. Friends, family, acceptance, and love. I want to explore everything with you, this is merely the first step of the great adventure that our lives will be. With this ring, I promise to always be there for you in whatever capacity you need me, to adore each moment we have together, and to love you unconditionally…" there were tears in not only the grooms' eyes, but many other's as well, as Spock slid the ring onto James' left ring finger
"James, do you take Spock to be your husband?"
"I do."
"Spock, do you take James to be your husband?"
"I-I do," Spock sniffled.
"Unless there are any objections…I now pronounced you husband and husband, you may kiss…"
James hardly waited until the words were out of the priest's mouth before he had cupped Spock's cheek and kissed him passionately, his other hand curling around his waist and holding Spock close.
The crowd erupted in cheers and whistles, the band began playing again, and everyone was so preoccupied with the celebration that no one noticed Mr Sulu slip away.

It had been a regular day, the sun was shining, and Pavel had awoken early, dressed, packed his bag with supplies and a new book and been on his way. Pavel picked out the same path he always travelled from his home to Oasis Mountain and then up the mountain itself. The forest looked the same as it always did, and there stood the tower.
The first odd thing he noticed was that Spock hadn't opened the window yet; Spock was always awake before he arrived. As he moved closer, Pavel could see that the wooden door was closed…but the lock had been broken!
Pavel dropped the bag and wrenched open the door, suddenly worried that something had happened to Spock. He made it up the staircase as fast as he could in his old age and knocked earnestly on the door at the top. When he received no answer, Pavel opened the unlocked door to find everything undisturbed, but no Spock.
Panic struck through him, where was Spock? Had he been kidnapped? Murdered? He quickly searched the room for clues, noting that a few of Spock's possessions were missing, and then he found the note on the table. He quickly read it, relief washing away the panic as he finished the note. Spock had chosen to leave, with a Prince no less, he wished they had gotten to say goodbye. Pavel had come to think of Spock almost as his own son, and the thought that he may never see Spock again saddened him.
It was only on his journey home that Pavel recalled a Prince who had been searching for a bride recently, he wondered if it was the same Prince who had taken Spock away.
A few days went by and Pavel tried to put Spock out of his mind, but he couldn't, he needed to know that he was alright. Spock had never been out in the world before, what if the Prince was unkind?
It took a few more days before Pavel could hire a carriage to take him on the long journey to the Prince's kingdom. It was tedious, but Pavel was determined to find Spock and ensure his well-being.
Finally, after several days, Pavel arrived. The guards at the gate asked if he was here for the wedding, he lied and said he was. They let him through and he was directed to the wedding by another guard.
He arrived at the wedding just in time to hear the vows being read. James, he thought that was the Prince's name, went first, though he was too busy pushing through the crowd to get to the front to hear most of what James was saying.
Pavel made it to the back of the seating in time to see who he presumed to be James slide a ring onto someone's finger. It was Spock! He'd know those ears anywhere. Pavel was in awe, Spock was getting married! This time he listened as Spock said his vows, tears ran down his cheeks, and there was a smile on his face. He was so overjoyed for his adoptive son, he had never imagined that this could happen.
Pavel remembered a time when he had been in love; he would have married Hikaru in a heartbeat if it had been allowed. Things were different back then though, and he didn't regret raising Spock, but he regretted not raising Spock with Hikaru. Looking back it was both of their faults, Pavel's for leaving, and Hikaru's for staying. He sighed and touched the necklace that Hikaru had made for him many years ago.
He watched as James kissed Spock; they seemed so happy, he could tell that Spock was loved and that was all he needed to know. He went to turn and get out of the crowd, but someone else caught his eye, standing next to Spock…no, surely not…
Pavel weaved through the crowd until he was way off to the side, close to the arch, "Hikaru! Hikaru Sulu!" he called over the cheering of the people.
Mr Sulu glanced around, sure he had heard his name, until his eyes landed on the last person he expected to see, "Pavel?" he stared at the man for a moment before leaving the boys to it and going to the man calling his name.
They left the crowd behind, walking further out into the meadow where they could hear the other without yelling.
"Pavel, what are you doing here?" Mr Sulu asked, still in disbelief that this man was standing in front of him.
"I-I came to make sure Spock was okay, but then I saw you, it has been so long…I still…" he pulled the necklace out from under his shirt, "I still think about you every day."
Mr Sulu's hand trembled as he pulled a matching necklace from his own shirt, "As do I."
Pavel put his hand over Mr Sulu's, "I'm sorry I left Hikaru."
"I'm sorry I didn't go with you," a tear slid down his cheek.
"Co-Could we start over? I promise not to leave again…" he had never thought this opportunity would arise, he never thought he would see Hikaru again.
"I would like that," Mr Sulu told him softly.
Pavel stepped forward tentatively, staring into Hikaru's eyes before closing the distance and kissing him tenderly; all of those old feelings flaring back through him, like a fire reignited.

James couldn't believe it, as he looked down at his hand holding Spock's, at the ring on his finger. James was married, and he was happier than ever, when just a mere few weeks ago the prospect of having to married made him miserable.
He squeezed Spock's hand and the other man looked at him, "Are you happy?"
"Very, are you?"
"I couldn't be happier," James assured his new husband. Husband, that word was going to excite him for ages.
"Good. Now, dear husband, I believe it is time for you to also take the title of King," Spock told him.
The coronation would take place in the castle in the main hall. The crown was already waiting on the throne when they entered the door. The Queen and the priest were also waiting for James to arrive.
The hall was completely full as most of the townspeople tried to get inside to see the coronation of their beloved Prince. Silence fell as the Queen raised her hands.
"I know I have not been supportive of any of this since the start, and for that I am sorry, I see how much you care for each other, and you have the respect and adoration of the people, you will be a wonderful King James. It was wrong of me to dismiss your happiness, I hope you can forgive me. Your father would be proud to know that you stood up for what you believe in, and followed your heart."
James nodded, "Thank you mother," he hoped his father would be proud.
The priest began the coronation then, going through a bunch of regulations and vows that James had to recite. It took some time, and all in all it was kind of boring, but soon enough it drew to an end.
James bowed slightly as the priest sat the gold crown upon his head and announced him to be the King. The new King sat on his throne, his husband on one side, and his mother on the other side, and looked out at his people smiling.
"Long live the King!" shouted the crowd in unison.
And so they lived happily ever after.
The end.
