.I'll Break Your Heart So You Don't Break Mine!...

The night was dark and deep. Despite it being a full moon night, the majestic orb of amour was unwillingly hiding behind the grey scattered powder-puff clouds. It wasn't that disappointing, seeing the stars made up for the loss. The clouds bring us to a large Sakura tree. Though devoid of its spring glory, the green leaves and tender branches swayed hitherto in the windy rhythm. A stream was flowing in front of it; dividing the earth into two parts. Two grassy mounds were situated across its sides. An upwardly arched bridge connected those irreconcilable banks. The warm and soothing mid-summer breeze made the aura welcoming and inviting, both. And just like that, it was going to attract another pair of irreconcilables too….

On the left bank of the rivulet, a manly figure was seen. His deep, long, raven tresses were tied neatly till a bit below the waist, and the rest were left at the mercy of the winds. Muscular arms crossed in front of a well-toned thorax. Ray was simply eyeing the nothingness of the expanse before him.

The campus of the Tokyo University was bustling with students. It was early morning, and one could see them entering from the main gate, alongside the parking lot, moving from one building to another, or simply strolling across the ground. Amidst all these chaos, two girls were walking; probably to their classrooms. One of them was wearing a casual, baby pink summer dress, with a black belt; while the other had put on black denims and a white halter top, entire look rounded off by a black leather jacket. Respective neon pink and scarlet hair tied in high ponytails. Both were carrying back-packs on one shoulder and an open book in the other hand.

Little did he know that he wasn't alone. For, on the right bank of the water, leaning against the Sakura tree trunk, and backing the river, stood Salima. Her eyes were closed, hands folded and posture gave off composed vibes. Who knew, the reality would be totally different? Her heart and mind were having arduous debates about whether to confront him or not. Neither was she ever hesitant in her life, nor did she fear of hurting others. Then why was today being so different? So difficult?

Not too far from there, from the exactly opposite direction, another duo was walking. A raven-haired boy with his blunette friend. The former was dressed in a white shirt and black denims and the latter had put on a casual summer tee.

As both pairs came near to one another, four pairs of eyes clashed. The pinkette smiled at the neko-jin and the blunette did the same for the scarlet. The other two smiled too, but too, but at whom? Only time could tell.

They both were equally aware of the other's presence on the landscape. Yet no one was willing to take the lead.

"No Ray. Never! No one has the right to do this to me." She muttered to herself.

"No Salima! If this is what they call love. I'm out of it." He declared out loud, audible only to himself.

Inhaling sufficient amount of oxygen, Salima stepped aside, turning in his direction, staring directly in his amber orbs. Ray too got the signal. Both started walking towards the wooden arch-bridge.

Hey, hey, hey
Where do you think you're going?
It's so late, late, late
What's wrong?
I said, "I can't stay, do I have to give a reason?
It's just me, me, me, it's what I want

So how did we get here?
Three weeks now, we've been so caught up
Better if we do this on our own

"Hi there, Ray! How're you?" "Good morning Salima." Both Kane and Mariah started at the same time.

"Oops, sorry." Again, they said in unison, getting a hearty laugh.

"Hello Kane."

"Hi Mariah." The said persons exchanged greetings.

While all this was going on, honey-amber orbs had locked themselves in deep purple ones, oblivious to the world.

"Um, guess you haven't been introduced yet." The Australian interrupted.

"Okay, so Sally this is Ray Kon. My childhood best-friend from the white-tiger village."

"And Ray, this is Salima. My friend from the good, old days." Kane said with a wink.

"Nice to meet you Salima." The Driger wielder extended a hand.

"Nice to meet you too Ray." The scarlet haired beauty shook it and smiled. A certain mischief visible yet unnoticed in their eyes.

Ray halted right at the centre as the scarlet beauty reached near. Looking at each other for once, their gaze shifted towards the opposite railings and without exchanging a word, they started contemplating again.

Ray and Mariah were strolling in the city park when the Galux-wielder spoke, "Um, so what do you think Ray?"

"About what Riah?"

"About finding that one person, your soulmate, with whom you'd like to spend the rest of your days. Found anyone so far?"

"Honestly speaking, I don't want anything like that now Riah. There's a lot to achieve in life. I want to explore it some more. Relationships at this time, will only be an obstruction ya know." And he smiled generally.

["Oh Ray!" the husky voice of a girl was heard in the darkness of the room. "Don't…stop."

"Not soon Sally." Saying he leaned in to taste her lips once more.]

Mariah sighed, in both relief and disappointment.

...

"You're seeming quite happier than usual Kane. Got something to tell?" Salima smirked. Knowing her friend since they were little kids, she could read him like an open book. The duo was on the open roads of Tokyo, in Kane's roofless car, which was being driven by his red haired friend.

"Um, well yeah. How'd you know?"

"C'mon Kane. Are we knowing each other just since yesterday? Now tell me, who is she?"

"Not now Sal. Only when the time's correct will I tell you more. So, patience until, please."

"Oh-kay lover boy. But I suck at patience, better know that." And she took another sip of her cola.

[She moaned into his kiss as his grip around her tightened. They showed no signs of stopping though.

"Salima. You seriously want it?"

"And since when did the Mr Ray Kon start doubting, huh? I know you're impatient too. Get started already." Saying she smirked in the darkness.

"You know me so well, don't you?" And they began all over again.]

...

"Hey Ray, was that Sally and Kane?" Mariah asked, pointing towards a roofless car that went just past them, as they were about to leave.

"I don't think so." He simply shrugged.

...

"Sal, did we just overtake Ray and Mariah?" a perplexed Kane asked.

"I'm sure your dream girl is haunting your days Kane." And she too shrugged.

Fate, fate, fate
Is that what came between us?
Or did we do this on our own?

So how did we get here?
I'm asking myself why I'm so caught up
Better if we do this on our own

"What if, we'll love each other, but by fate's interruption may not get each other?" Salima spoke.

"I don't know. Besides, I like this feeling, but it's difficult to contain it Sally. What if we'll get bored of each other, should we opt for a secure relation, say a wedding or something?"

"I think it's time we better separate Ray. This thing called love will destroy us both."

"Or even better, send us to afterlife, all so soon."

"So we are on the same track then." A known smirk made it's way on her face.

"Yepp!" he said, turning around to face her back.

"What are we waiting then. Good bye already?" she too faced him by now.

"This.." and instead of completing, he leaned forward. Embracing her waist firmly, as her arms snaked around his neck. Lips collided, dancing over one another.

Before I love you (nah, nah, nah)
I'm gonna leave you (nah, nah, nah)
Before I'm someone you leave behind
I'll break your heart so you don't break mine
Before I love you (nah, nah, nah)
I'm gonna leave you (nah, nah, nah)
Even if I'm not here to stay
I still want your heart

Your heart for takeaway
