So this will be a series about our favorite characters as kids. Most will be one-shots, but we're starting with a 2 parter.
Phoenix had just been to his first trial-in his classroom. But 2 kids defended him-Larry and Miles. Phoenix was so excited to get home and tell his mom. He made friends. His mom-Amy Wright, was currently out with a guy. She was a single parent. Phoenix just played some video games until she got back.
Amy Wright came home to her son. He immediately started telling her about him being on trial or something? He was so excited, he was talking too fast. She then heard him say he made new friends. She grabbed something to drink and asked, "So, what are your new friends' names?"
He answered, "Oh, there's Larry Butz, he's kinda a trouble maker but he's nice."
"Oh no" she thought.
"And then there's Miles Edgeworth"
Amy nearly spit out her drink. Edgeworth?! "I mean its possible, I don't remember Greg moving away but..."she thought to herself.
"Mom, is something wrong?" Phoenix asked
"N-no, nothing is wrong" she answered. Phoenix wasn't sure, he was going to ask Miles about this tomorrow.
The next day at school, Phoenix met up with Larry and Miles.
"Hey man, what's up?" Larry yelled.
"Hello" Miles simply said.
"Hey guys!" Phoenix said. Man he was happy to have friends, but he remembered his mom's reaction yesterday.
"So, I told my mom I made new friends, and the strangest thing happened" Phoenix told them.
"Well, don't keep us waiting" Larry demanded, impatiently
"I told her your names, but when I mentioned Miles, she nearly choked on her drink"
"Hmm, that's odd. Perhaps she knows something about me?" Miles said, thinking.
"Well, if she knows somethin' lets dig around" Larry said
"Alright, she must have some evidence to her reaction" Miles said. Phoenix wanted to object, but they were already heading to his house.
Luckily, his mom wasn't home. They searched everywhere but his mom's room.
"Well, sorry, looks like we didn't find anything" Phoenix said, nervously.
"No we haven't! What's in that room?" Larry yelled
"I-Its my mom's room. I'm not allowed to look through her stuff", while Phoenix was saying this, Miles opened the door. Phoenix tried to stop his friends but they were already looking through the room. Phoenix then joined in. He looked through a desk, and found a paper.
"Legal name change?" he read. Some of it was redacted, but he could see that she changed her last name. And, HIS?
"Phoenix, Larry! I found something"
"So did I"
"I did too"
The three boys gathered. Larry had some divorce papers and Miles had Phoenix's birth certificate. But rather than saying, Phoenix Wright, it said Phoenix Edgeworth. The divorce papers mentioned each parent getting custody of one child. Miles pieced things together. He looked at Phoenix's birth certificate again and saw the birth date was also his birthday. They quickly put everything back in order when they heard his mom coming home.
"Phoenix!" she called. Phoenix came over. He never noticed that his mom had Miles' hair color.
"I was just having friends over" he explained. When they left, he took out the three papers.
"Mom, can, can you explain these?" he said. She quickly grabbed the papers
"Where did you?"
"I just wanted to know why you acted weird yesterday so I told my friends and-" he continued to quickly explain. Amy on the other hand was nervous
"Phoenix. I guess its time I told you about your father and" she paused, "twin brother"
I don't know why, but I always thought Phoenix and Miles acted a little like brothers. This is my headcanon. The next chapter will explain some things. Don't worry, if you don't like this, it only gets brought up in the next chapter, and whenever I write one about von Karma adopting Edgeworth.
