Hello everyone I hope you enjoy this updated version of my original fanfiction.

Chapter 1

Mahiru enters the establishment of The Moonlight Bar feeling happily exhausted, her senior year was going to begin after this spring break. 'I hope the seniors like everything.' She thinks as she closes the door behind her. She had been helping prepare for the graduation ceremony to take place in just a few days. The bar is completely empty but she can hear voices floating from the office, some are louder than others.

"I don't like it! They wanted to kill us and now they want us to come back!" Mitsuru shouts. His voice is of course the loudest of the group. The others in the group shushed him.

"Mitsuru I know the last time was not the greatest but this is the Moon Palace's way of apologizing for that." Oboro counters calmly.

Mahiru is now outside the door. She knows it's wrong to eavesdrop and that she should knock but the conversation on the other side is going too quickly for her to find the appropriate time to interrupt.

"Come on Mitsuru, let's go enjoy the party." Akira whines in his dog-like way.

"It would be rude to turn down this invitation and could further strain our relationships with the Moon Palace." Nozomu states in his ever-calm voice.

"Mitsuru I doubt that this is some elaborate scheme, in our history the Lunar Race did love to party. Now that everyone is on the mend so they want to celebrate." Misoka says in his planned calculated ways.

"Neither way we shouldn't decide until Mahiru gets home." Mitsuru snapped back.

Taking her chance Mahiru opens the door and greets everyone. "Good afternoon, I think it would be great to go back to the Moon Kingdom."

"Of course you would agree to go, you silly girl." Mitsuru groans at the same time as Akira cheers. Misoka, Nozomu, and Oboro nod their heads in agreement. Mahiru sees Katsura's red lips turn up in a smile in the corner, she had been there the whole time but knew better than to try and debate any of the boys.

"Alright everyone let's get ready to open for the night. Will make sure to mention to the customers we will be closed next week. I also suggest everyone pack soon. I'll send a message back saying we're going." Oboro says as he gets out of his chair and dismisses everyone from the room.

Later that evening after closing Misoka brought the cash and receipts to the office to Oboro. Oboro was sitting at the desk with the ledger out and his glasses on.

"It was a good night again sir." Misoka said as he places the separated stacks on the desk.

"I had no doubt it would be." He grinned back, but his grin quickly fell from his face. " Are you okay with going back? The situation is different, we're not going for a mission but to celebrate, you might have to deal with things that you might not be ready for."

"Sir, I believe on your lists of worries I should be near the bottom. We do have four individuals who don't know what they have gotten themselves into. I will take care of everything as I always do." Misoka replied flatly.

"That is true but I have faith in them as I do you, just know you don't have to handle everything on your own. I'm more than happy to help with anything." Oboro said as Misoka turned to leave the room.

"I know sir." He whispered.

THE NEXT WEEK

The week flew by for everyone. Oboro, Katsura, and Misoka answered everyone's questions to the best of their abilities. Akira had questions about the food at the festival. Mahiru had questions about if there would be games to play. Nozomu had questions about entertainment. Mitsuru only had one question how long there would be there.

The group traveled to Kyoto to take the transportation mirror. Oboro entered the mirror first with Katsura on his arm, Mahiru and Mitsuru followed after them followed by the rest of the group. Mitsuru discreetly grabbed Mahiru's hand as they traveled through the panels.

As they exited the other side they were greeted by a purple hair middle-aged woman in a traditional kimono. She wasn't very tall barely over four foot but she had an air of no-nonsense around here, like a teacher who been at it for over ten years. The bun she was sporting and the clipboard she was carrying only amplified this aura. She bowed to the group. "Welcome honored guests. I am Iruma. I will be your personal assistant during this wonderful festival. Now that you have arrived I need you to follow me so we can get dressed properly." She turned and started to walk off.

"Dressed? What does she mean?" Mitsuru snapped not moving from his spot.

"The first night of the festival is a formal event because of the Emperor's attendance. It's only for tonight." Misoka explained as he shoved Mitsuru forward.

The group followed Iruma through the palace and were separated after arriving at the end of the last hall. "Princess and Miss Katsura please take the first one and everyone please take the second," Iruma instructed everyone. She opened the door for Mahiru and Katsura. Inside the changing room were two more servants to dress the girls. The guys each had a servant as well.

The guys waited outside in the back courtyard for the gals to finish. Some of the festival could be seen from here. "It reminds me a lot of the festivals back in Hokkaido," Akira exclaimed with a smile so big it took up his whole face.

"Now that we're all done let's get going, you all need to be seated before anything can really start." Iruma sated as she exited the dressing room with the gals. The guys heads turned to look at the finished product of their hour of waiting. They looked like the dolls they display around Girl's day. Katsura just smiled as she and Oboro linked arms and followed Iruma.

"You look beautiful." Nozomu said smiling at Mahiru gently touching the pink hairpin tucked into her hair.

"You look like a doll!" Akira cheered circling her. Misoka nodded in agreement. Mitsuru blushed as he stared at her.

"Thank you." She smiled as she blushed under the attention. She began to follow behind the adults with Mitsuru glued to her side.

They walked two by two with Misoka in the back by himself as they walked through part of the festival. Iruma was rattling off things about the festival step up. "This is the main walkway. It's the biggest and it goes straight from the Palace to the main stage where you'll be sitting tonight. To the left is food, a picnic area, and beautiful views of Crescent Lake. To the right are the games and a few lesser stages where performances will be held hourly. Each stage has its own dedicated performance. We have some wonderful things planned over the next few days."

The group came upon a huge sitting area. There were over a hundred tables with seats. Beyond all the tables and seats was a raised oval wooden platform that had several walkways coming off of it, and behind that was what you would usually call a stage. It was higher than anything else by several inches with curtains behind it on either side and held a long table and seats.

"This is where the dinner will be held. You will be seated up there with his Royal Highness as his guests of honor." Iruma informed them as she walked up to the stage. She informed everyone of their seats. "We still have sometime before everyone so please go backstage to rest until we inform you to come out."

The group didn't have to wait long for people to start filing in. Quickly the time was on them. Iruma instructed them to stand by their seats but not sit down. The emperor was about to arrive. The room fell silent just moments before he entered.

'He looks much healthier and I think he's gonna taller.' Mahiru thought as she stood still as he walked down the center aisle, then up the stage's walkway and ramp-up to their perch. The Emperor was followed by Masumi, Misoka's aunt, and the rest of his entourage. Once everyone was by their seats. He clapped his hands and everyone bowed to him.

"Good evening, everyone please remain standing for just a while longer. I'm happy that we could be celebrating this happy occasion of the return of our health. This is in large part thanks to our Bandits and the descendant of the princess. Please if you all could bow to them too in gratitude for their efforts." Emperor Shirogane announced from a card he had in his hands. The crowd turned to the group and bowed to them as well. "Now everyone please be seated." He announced.

No sooner had he sat than servants appeared with food and drinks for everyone.

"Princess if you don't to consume the sake please don't force yourself," Misoka whispered as he saw the servants place a bottle and cup in front of her along with a decanter and glasses.

"Oh, I don't want to be rude." Mahiru stuttered.

"Allow me then, a glass won't hurt." Nozomu said taking the bottle and pouring it for her. "A princess should never pour for herself, isn't that right Misoka?" He teased.

"What is the drinking age here?" Akira whispered as he eyed his own bottle.

"There is none, please be respectful and responsible." Misoka replied as he poured Akira a small glass.

"Well in Rome." Mitsuru muttered pouring a glass for Misoka.

After the dinner plates were cleared Emperor Shirogane stood once more. "My wonderful subjects now it is time for the entertainment. We have the classic talent of our people." He announced then sat back down.

The area's lanterns were dimmed to the point of almost going out and a band began to slowly play a melody as Misoka whispered to Mahiru. "You know this tale well. It's the story of the demon and princess."

A lone small young actor took the stage looking around lost. A ball was rolled onto the stage and a small young actress followed behind it. The children 'played' for a minute before stating they wish to get married when they're old enough. Their movements remind Mahiru of kabuki and ballet. They floated around but also took strong stances when needed. Both ran off the stage and an actor in all black crossed the stage with a sign the stated 10 years had passed.

A beautiful actress entered the stage, the adult princess. Her light blonde hair was pulled up into a braided bun but she still had hairpins stuck into it. Her costume was semi form-fitted but had multiply layers like a kimono but it was short skirt over red tight and red ballet shoes. She began to sing about a dream from her childhood and how she missed the boy in it. Her voice was nearly as beautiful as her.

Despite the semi-melancholy song Mahiru couldn't help but smile and side-eye her companions. She was enjoying their culture so much.

The beautiful actress was soon joined by a handsome actor, the adult demon prince. He had his black hair pulled into a top knot with a crescent moon pinned to it. His silver-like horns shined in the low lights. He had armor over a blue large kimono top but it was also short over blue tights and blue ballet shoes. He began to sing the second verse of the song. They completed the third together and embraced each other. They began to dance together, first copying the simple moves of the children from earlier than going to more complicated moves, even using some of the walkways.

But soon they were joined but two groups, one in all red and one in all blue, similar to the black kabuki suit but they did have pieces of armor on. A battle raged on the stage until the demon prince was injured. The princess rushed to his side. They sang a short song about their love and then he died. She was rushed off the stage by the red warriors. The rest left the stage then the sign guy crossed again with a sign saying a year later. The princess returned holding a bundle and finished the love song. Her love would continue for lifetimes.

The lights went all the way out and once then they were back on, everyone began to clap. 'They changed it, the ending use to be much sadder. Is it because Mahiru is here?' Misoka thought.

"That was wonderful! They're so beautiful." Mahiru shouted over the applause.

"Yes, they sure are." Nozomu agreed with a sly grin on his face.

"I've never seen anything like it!" Akira said between whistles.

"My, this was all very wonderful," Katsura said almost drowned out as the clapping seemed to get louder.

"This was an unexpected turn of events wasn't it Misoka?" Oboro asked turning to him. Misoka just nodded his head.

Once the lights were back on the cast took the stage and took their bows. "Please give it up to our leading lady, Aruna!" The demon prince performer shouted. It didn't seem the claps could get louder but they did.

"Oh, Akoshi, please. Everyone lets have a round for him too." Aruna the beautiful princess shouted. "One more for our wonderful armies and band." She waved her hands over the faceless bunches and the bands on neither side of the stage.

The cast then turned to them and bowed to Emperor Shirogane and then to the group. The beautiful actress seemed to stare at them a little longer than the others before retreating with the rest of the cast.

Emperor Shirogane clapped again to get everyone's attention. "Please everyone enjoy the rest of your evening at this festival." He announced. The room stood as he left.

Masumi stayed behind and glared at Misoka. He slowly crept over to her as the others began to decide what to do with the rest of the night.

"Yes, Aunt?" He asked keeping an eye on his group.

She glanced over to them before whispering "I hope you don't plan on undoing all the effort my sister Mayumi went through for you."

The group didn't even seem to paying attention to them as he replied. "The arrangement is going to be discussed. Oboro will be there to witness as he was the first time that is all."

Masumi didn't seem to be please with this response but didn't stand as much as she left. Misoka rejoined his group in the middle of talking about finding desserts. "What was that about?" Nozomu whispered.

"Just paying my respects." Misoka lied with a straight face. 'I must do right by her.' Misoka thought as he followed his group off the stage.

Hello again everyone, I hope you enjoyed chapter one of this revision. I received a review for my original not long ago and decided to reread it. That was pretty hard, I knew I could do better than this so I decided I could redo this fanfiction. This is probably my favorite fanfiction. I also going to try to finish it this time. I don't remember the first ending I had planned so I'm gonna kinda wing that part. I also recently reread that manga so I'm also going to try and fix the errors I've made in the oringal. Thank you for reading.
