Chapter One
It was 1am on a windy Sunday morning and Sunny couldn't sleep. Again.
Four months had gone since Cassie died and he still hadn't got over her death. Sunny threw himself into his job. His daughters had gone to live with their mum because he just couldn't look after them without crying or wanting to cry.
Turning over in his bed, he pulled Cass' letter out of his bedside table. The page was dog-eared as if he slept with it (granted he did on some nights, especially when he drank too much and cried himself to sleep whilst clutching the letter to his chest.) Sunny knew the words off the page by heart but that didn't stop him from reading it time and time again.
Sunny sighed. He's really got to stop doing this to himself before he goes mad. Fair enough, he's probably already there. But then he had a quite strange thought shoot into his head. A thought that was so weird, so MAD, he actually chuckled slowly to himself. What if…what if she's not really dead? He shook his head in denial. Nah, not possible, he saw the look on John's face that night. She's definitely dead. Isn't she?
Sunny sat suddenly, his brain whirring fast as he thought. There were instances where he just wasn't sure. Instances like when he went to see Cassie's dad and sons one weekend 2 weeks ago, he overheard them talking in low voices about someone who wouldn't like the way he was living these days and how she would smack some sense into him.
Another instance was when in the office, he saw his boss talking to John in a corner in hushed voices, his boss peeking round at Sunny at various times. He even heard Cass' name being dropped at times.
Sunny dropped his head into his hands. What the hell is going on? He's gonna find out no matter what.
