KawaBoru Week: Day Two
Prompt: Travel "Where you go, I go"
"The answer is no," Kawaki said with a long sigh. He was crossed between frustrated, amused, and sad, but the situation left no room for argument.
Boruto may have been the manager, but Kawaki was still the boss, and he was going to listen to him even if Kawaki had to make him.
The next day, the group would be leaving for a show. It was only a few hours away and they'd only be gone for the weekend. It wouldn't feel right not having Boruto with them, but he'd fallen ill unexpectedly. It was only a cold, but he'd been bedridden with an on and off fever for two days, he couldn't stomach anything more than broth, and keeping that and water in him had been a task.
"Look, I want you there even more than you want to be there… but there's no way in hell I'm taking you when you look like this." Again, Kawaki sighed and reached down to rest the palm of his hand against Boruto's forehead. He was burning up again, but Kawaki had just given him some medicine to help break his fever again.
"I'm not worried about how I look and I don't feel that bad anyway," Boruto told him, unable to help the way his eyes fluttered closed at his lover's touch. "After the show, I can just rest in the hotel."
"You're so difficult… don't think you're gonna get anywhere by lying to me." Kawaki clicked his tongue and let his hand caress down to Boruto's flushed cheek which he brushed his thumb over gently. "You can stay here and rest, and if we're lucky, you'll be back to normal by the time we return."
He knew it was for his own good, but Boruto had yet to miss any of their shows and he really wanted to go. "But Kawaki," he whined and looked at him pleadingly.
"No buts," Kawaki said, shaking his head with a sigh and a soft smile he couldn't fight. "You need rest. I've already spoken with Shikadai about coming to check in on you."
"This isn't fair." Boruto wasn't giving up just yet and was determined to lay it on thick. "Where you go, I go."
He wasn't wrong. Kawaki didn't want to leave him behind at all, but this was about his health and well-being. "You're right," he admitted and leaned down to press their foreheads together. "But sometimes life gets in the way. You're sick, so you have to stay this time. I'm sorry."
Hearing the raven apologize made the blond feel guilty for pushing, but he wanted to be there for his boyfriend. "I don't want to be apart. I promise to rest properly at the hotel and . . . and I'll do whatever you say, I won't try to talk my way into doing anything else."
"Damn, you're extra sweet when you're sick, you know that?" Kawaki chuckled softly and rubbed his flushed cheek. "Makes it harder to tell your ass no."
"So is that a yes?" He asked, a smile tugging at his lips.
"If I agree, it will be under my terms only. Bad enough I'll never fucking hear the end of it. I can hear the guys now…"
Boruto grinned and lifted his head to press a kiss to Kawaki's cheek before laying back down. "They were disappointed I wouldn't be able to go too so don't let them fool you, they can't say shit. Besides . . . it's not just about the show," he confessed as his face started to heat up in embarrassment. "I . . . I don't want anyone else taking care of me but you."
"Look at your spoiled ass." Kawaki grinned and leaned back, poking Boruto's cheek. "What have I done?"
"Don't act innocent, you're just as spoiled," he chuckled, but it soon turned into a coughing fit.
Kawaki hated him being sick and couldn't shake his concern, though all he could do was remain by his side and comfort him in any way possible. "Take it easy… you're not wrong, but you wouldn't cave for me and I know it. So why do I have to for you?"
Boruto wasn't sure why things turned out that way, but he liked the way things were. "Because I'm the boss."
"Yeah well, right now you're just my sick baby." Kawaki teased him. "I suppose I'll let you come, tuck you into the hotel… but if you even think about leaving the room or not listening, I will be pissed."
"I give you my word," Boruto assured him, knowing he could watch the show on television. It might have seemed pointless for him to argue in the first place given he could have watched the show from home, but being there for Kawaki in person was what really mattered even if it was only before and after he performed. "I'll stay in the hotel the whole time and won't get out of bed unless I have to use the bathroom."
"Alright then. I'll be holding you to it. Don't get me upset. I'm already off my game having you sick." Kawaki moved to lie down next to him and tucked his arm around the blond. "Everything is wrong."
The blond snuggled closer and buried his face in the raven's chest. "I hate not being able to do what I usually do, but at least I can still support you. Don't worry about me, okay? I'll be watching you kill it on stage and I'm expecting a shout out."
"You are too fucking much," Kawaki snorted. "I'll be sure to relay the request to Hōki."
"He'll cave too," Boruto said with certainty. There wasn't a member of the band that could tell him no.
"Damn where do you get that confidence?" Kawaki laughed, knowing full-well that he wasn't wrong. He wasn't even slightly off.
After everything they had been through, their friendships had deepened and they truly respected Boruto as a manager. Kawaki caved because he loved him, but the others caved because of who he was as a person. "This confidence comes from the band trusting me to make the right decisions . . . and from you always believing in me. Even after we had gone our separate ways, you still came back . . . you thought I was worth it."
"Because you are." Kawaki kissed his cheek and breathed in deeply. "You're too spoiled though. We have to do something about it."
"Spoil him more," Hōki called from the door, announcing his presence which didn't surprise Kawaki or Boruto.
They were sure he wasn't the only one peeking in on them either.
"Go away assholes!" Kawaki snapped, though there was no heat to his words.
Boruto laughed at the familiar scene and smiled to himself. "I know you guys are worried, but you should be packing instead of spying. We'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon."
"He said 'we'," Hōki mused.
"I heard," Inojin whispered loudly. "I knew Kawaki wouldn't leave him."
"He's whipped as hell, of course he wouldn't," Iwabe chimed in obnoxiously.
Kawaki sighed and closed his eyes. "If I wasn't so comfortable, I'd kick all your asses."
"We know, that's why we're talking shit," Shinki told him as the others snickered.
They were ridiculous, but still endearing. This wasn't the best time to continue to play around though and they needed to get ready for the show. With Boruto out of commission, he knew Kawaki would take the reins and stress over things, wanting to make sure they were on time and properly rested.
Wanting to help in any way he could, Boruto said, "that's enough following around now. Go get your things together and let me take a nap, I'm tired and want to cuddle with my own personal heater."
"You heard him. And he's sick, so no complaints." As if there would be any. All of them scurried off, leaving Kawaki and Boruto alone. "Get some sleep. And don't think just because I caved this time that I always will."
Boruto knew he would, but decided to humor his lover. "Yes sir."
Kawaki could never win with him, but he couldn't even be upset about it. Boruto was right, sick or not, where one of them went, the other did as well. That was never going to change no matter what.
