A/N: So apparently I do this thing where I write something, then disappear for awhile and then come back to writing again. It's weird. And it doesn't produce great pieces of writing in the end, but at least I am trying. I've got this one-shot for you. I hope you enjoy it.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
"Drew, I need you," Caroline's voice said over the phone. "Can you please come?"
Drew knew better than to go. They'd been over for months. Their breakup had been a hard one, hitting her the worst. But that didn't stop him from getting in his car whenever she called, pleading for him to come to her. He hated himself every time that he did answer that beckoning call, but he couldn't let her go even if he wanted to.
"Drew, I need you."
OOOOOOOO
Drew flinched as Caroline threw a pillow at his face. He looked at her, her red hair a flaming mess of curls and her freckle covered nose scrunched up in anger. But he was surprised by the tears swimming in her green eyes. He set the pillow aside and turned to her.
"Caroline, what's wrong?" he asked.
"How could ye?" Caroline demanded, pushing her hand against his shoulder, her accent thick on her tongue. "How could ye do this ta me?"
Drew tried to touch her, but she recoiled. "What are you talking about, love?"
Caroline pulled a sexy pair of ladies' underwear out of her pocket and held it before his eyes. "Ma bum isn't this small," she pointed out, shaking it. "Ye remember how ye liked ma bum being thick? What kind of woman do ye go for now, Andrew?"
Drew stared at the underwear. Images of another woman, different clothes, different smells flooded through his mind, his body. So different from his Caroline. Yet, he pursued her. He chased her like a man starved.
"Caroline, love, I can explain," Drew said, rising from the bed.
"Oh don't give me that," Caroline snapped, smashing the underwear into his chest. "I've got more." She reached around to her back pocket and pulled out his phone. "Let's have a look at all the sexts, shall we? And the nudies. Yer a dirty, dirty lad, aren't you, Drew?"
She rolled her eyes and threw his phone on the ground, cracking the glass screen. Caroline put her hands in her hair and tugged, letting out a groan. She moved around him and headed for the
window by the bed.
"Drew," she said, losing her accent like she did when she was calm. "How long has this been going on?"
The WWE Superstar threw the underwear aside. He didn't want to think about it. He wanted to take her away from here, to start over, but also run away from her.
How can a man be so torn? he wondered, looking at her.
"Months," he told her.
"That's not a good enough answer, pretty boy."
"Seven months, okay?"
Her nose scrunched up again. "No it's not okay! It will never be okay! You said you loved me and look!" She held up her hand to show him the ring he'd placed on her finger a year ago. "You told me that you wanted to marry me. You said we'd get married this year and yet, you're still doing this? Do I mean so little to you?"
"No," Drew mumbled.
"What was that?"
"I said no." Drew moved closer and she growled. "You mean the world to me."
"No. You mean the world to me." Caroline's voice broke. "I don't mean a thing to you because if I did, you wouldn't have gone after her. One time, I could forgive. But seven months? Seven months of shit behind my back, probably in my bed…" She shook her head and looked out the window. "Get the hell out of here. Don't come back."
"Love…"
"Go!"
Drew turned and left, not looking back.
OOOOOOOOOOO
"Drew, I need you."
Caroline, this isn't right. After what I've done, after all that's happened between us…I shouldn't be coming near you, even at one of the events, Drew thought, putting gas in the car and looking out into the world. That's torture enough on it's own. Seeing you dressed like you do, that familiar body…
Drew leaned back against his car and closed his eyes, envisioning her before him. Her smell, her touch, her voice.
"Come to me."
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
Drew opened his personal locker room door after a show when someone knocked and he came to face to face with Caroline. She was fiddling with the strings on her shirt and looked nervous, a little sad.
"Caroline?" Drew asked, fighting the urge to take hold of her.
"Drew, can I – can I come in?" Caroline asked, not meeting his eyes.
The Scottish Superstar moved out of the way. Caroline moved into the locker room and dropped her duffle on the floor. Drew closed the door and turned to look at her. Caroline took a breath and looked up at him with her brilliant green eyes.
"Drew, I need you," she whispered as if afraid to voice it. "I shouldn't want you, but I need you. I need you so much."
"Love?"
She crossed the space between them and pulled his face down to hers, crashing their lips together. The need was there – not just for her, but for him. He held onto her and molded his body against hers. Finally feeling alive again, that fire she always brought to his soul. Drew kissed her until his lungs screamed for air and he looked at her with a burning need.
Caroline nodded and Drew pressed her against the lockers, kissing her fiercely.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I can't believe we keep backsliding, Drew thought, parked in front of her house. I can't believe she keeps calling me back…why do I answer? It's pure torment trying to stay away. To not think about her taste on my lips or her body moving against mine. Why do I do this? How can I do this to her?
Drew unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed out of his car, locking the doors behind him. He moved up the front walk and climbed the stairs to the front door. His hand hesitated to knock, but he forced it to. Every nerve was firing, ready to see her, ready to hold her and be one again. Would tonight be the last time she called him? Would this be the last time he got to hold her?
The front door opened and Caroline's green eyes looked out at him. She offered him a small smile and moved aside to let him enter. Drew closed and locked the door behind him before turning to look at her. She turned, heading for the staircase. Drew followed her to the second floor and down the hall to her bedroom, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight.
Caroline turned to look at him in the middle of the room and Drew crossed over to her, caressing her cheek with light fingers. She shivered and bounced onto her toes, kissing him. Drew undid the laces of her dress as he kissed her and heard her dress fall to the floor in a puddle around her feet. Her freckle kissed body was bared to him and he craved to touch every inch of it.
"Caroline, we shouldn't be doing this," Drew whispered to her as she played with his ponytail.
"Shut up and kiss me," Caroline ordered lowly, tugging on his hair.
Drew kissed her and backed her towards the bed, pushing her lightly onto it. He pulled his shirt off and then went to work on his belt. Caroline mewled as he pressed himself against her and then he thrust in to her slick heat. His eyes caught the shape of her aid on the bed, slick from use and knew it was he that she would never let turn her on. Not ever again.
Hours later, Caroline lay on her side next to Drew, her back to him. Drew stroked her skin lightly with his knuckles, waiting for her to tell him off for touching her. Her body remained relaxed, she didn't speak at first.
"Drew," she whispered.
"Hm?"
"Why can't I give you up?" she asked, her voice soft, full of hurt. "Why can't you give me up?"
Drew shook his head. "I have no idea, love. We just can't. We're always sliding back towards each other no matter how hard we pull apart."
"Backsliding," Caroline muttered.
"Yeah."
"I don't want to backslide anymore…I want…I want to move on, forget. Live my life," Caroline said, turning slightly to look at him. "With you again…and I can't figure out why."
Drew looked into those beautiful green eyes. "Does it matter?"
Caroline shrugged. "Maybe it should." She settled back down against him. "Drew…I don't know how we're going to make this work. Or if we should even try. I just know one thing."
"What's that?"
"I need you."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A/N: Not the best subject matter for me, but it still worked out in the end, I think. I hope you leave a comment or two behind and have a wonderful day. Thank you! -Scarlet
