Welcome to Hell
Ow.
With a constricted groan, I heaved myself onto my hands. Every part of my body was in some form of pain. Using a nearby dumpster as leverage, I first lifted myself onto my knees, then onto my feet. I tried to stand, but my legs buckled under my weight, and I had to lean against the dumpster. Only then did I realize that I had created a massive dent where I landed. My eyes turned up to the other spots I hit, including the top edge of the building and a fire escape railing. That's when I noticed just how red the sky was. "Huh..?" I raised an eyebrow and wiped some blood off my cheek, and my fingers brushed against what felt like...fur.
I had to get a look at myself. The first thing I did was open the trash can, and right away I saw a broken mirror. I took the largest shard and lifted it to my face. Staring right back at me was a bear. A fuzzy brown bear with bushy hair and red eyes. My mouth fell agape, and my hands went to my cheek. "Holy…"
There was a loud honk to my left that made me jump, followed by an immediate sharp pain in my side. A car swerved past a passerby, and right away I saw that the person wasn't...human. The more I looked, the more I realized that everyone in view wasn't either. They had somewhat human shapes, but were otherwise really bizarre. There were some who had the appearance of animals like me, others who were creatures I knew weren't of Earth. With a wince, I stumbled over to the end of the alleyway, leaning against the wall to look down the streets. There were a lot more of these things around me. Was it right to call them things? They definitely still looked like people.
I got a good look at my body. Nothing seemed too different from what I originally looked like. Same proportions, same build. Again, the only difference was that I was a bear. I looked at my back and saw a small, fluffy tail. "Hmm." I looked back up at the sky, and now I had a full view of what appeared to be a pattern of white lines. Confused, I stepped out onto the sidewalk, where I could get a better look, and the lines came together into a pentagram shape.
Wait…
I looked around, then tapped the shoulder of a wolf creature, who turned to me with a growl. "What?!" he snapped. My ears lowered, and I backed away. "U-Uhm...could you tell me where I am?" I asked hesitantly. He chuffed. "New guy, huh?" He shrugged and turned to leave. "Welcome to Hell."
My heart sank deep into my stomach. Hell?
I looked up at the pentagram, a million thoughts running through my mind. Of course I ended up in Hell...
