Blue Pearl moved her finger slowly across the screen. Shapes gradually emerged from the white lines. Pointed hair, a long, hooked nose, a thin body, and a pearl shimmering in the chest. A gentle smile appeared on Blue's face. Her friend will be happy to see this. She loved posing for her, and Blue was never bored with drawing it. The girl nervously twisted her fingers together. Her Diamond had sent her back some time ago and she wasn't sure how long it would take. She hoped Yellow Pearl would also be free. But time passed and she was still alone in an empty room. Immersed in silence, she stared wistfully at the picture. There were thoughts in her mind that she should never have had. She sighed wistfully, looking at the door. With each passing minute, her hope was slowly fading away. Then she hearded footsteps in the corridor. Is it her? For a moment, faith flashed in her heart with full strength as she looked hopefully at the door. The steps were getting closer, but something was wrong. They were heavy, too heavy and loud. They were nothing like her friend's gentle, rhythmic tramping. The Yellow Pearl moved confidently, but most of all gracefully. These were the steps of a soldier that must have belonged to some quartz. Blue looked at her drawing sadly, she wanted to show it so much, but she will not have a chance. Then the door opened, and Pearl, surprised, immediately sprang upright and crossed her arms in greeting.

- Greetings powerful Jasper - she said humbly.

Was Blue Diamond summoning her? But she could just give her a signal! So what...? Jasper looked at her contemptuously, then held out her clenched fist. The girl's eyes widened in horror as she realized what had just happened. Not again! Just not again.

- Take it - said the annoyed soldier.

Blue didn't hesitate a second and immediately ran to pick up the item. She put her hands around him gently, hoping it was a mistake. Let it not be what he thinks. But what else can quartz bring to the Pearls quarters? Jasper marched off, leaving her. But she was no longer alone. Blue slowly parted her hands, and her eyes saw a shimmering yellow pearl. Somtimes when she was sent back to this room, she see a her friend gem left messily on the floor. At least this time, she could hold her. With a soft sigh, she sat up, leaning against the wall of the room. I wonder what happened this time. A failed military operation? Annoying Pink Diamond's joke? Too slow progress of the colony? Whatever it was, her friend got too close or didn't manage to jump back and became a victim of Yellow Diamond's anger. Blue stroked the gem delicately, regretfully realizing that the conversation she had been waiting for would not take place. At least she could take care of her, even though Yellow wouldn't remember anything tomorrow. A lonely tear ran down her cheek unconsciously. That was their fate, that was their life, and nothing could change it. Nobody cared about the Pearls, their existence didn't matter, their feelings didn't matter. They were an ordinary ornament that no one respected. And as soon as Blue allowed herself to dream, her desires crumbled before her eyes, trampled by cruel reality. She gently pressed Yellow's gem to her chest, at least she was here, they were here together. No matter what, she wasn't alone in this cruel world. And at times like these, she would close her eyes and just listen to the silence as her emotions came out of the shadows and drifted on the surface.

- I drew you again - she whispered, staring at the smooth surface of the pearl - I think I did better than usual this time. Do you think I should color it? I don't want to destroy it

Only silence answered her words, but Blue hoped that somehow Yellow would hear her. She wonder what she would say? For Blue, the girl was so unpredictable.

And as tears ran down her cheeks and Yellow was safe in her arms, the world seemed better than ever.

When, along with regret and sorrow, sweet hope was awakened.

Hope for a better future.
