Okay, so I know I should probably finish some of the fanfics I've started on already instead of starting something new, but I love FullMetal Alchemist and this idea has been circulating in my head for a while now. The only thing is that I didn't really know what to do with it. I at first thought about making this into a chapter-based fanfic, but then I thought it'd succumb to the same fate as many of my other chapter fics, so I decided to do a oneshot collection like what I've done with my Blue Exorcist, Detective Conan and Danny Phantom fics. If a certain oneshot is liked a lot or I might already have plans for it then it'll have it's own sequels in a universe centered on it like what I've done on the supernatural AUs in the Detective Conan oneshot as they take place in the same universe its just each oneshot is like another chapter and because the fanfic isn't chapter-based I can write a different oneshot in between those same AU ones if I don't have any current ideas for them.
So, I wanted to write my own version that I had gotten some ideas from other Homunculus!Ed fics. It's just I got ideas from how Ed is turned into one.
If you guys have any questions about oneshots I can do I'd be happy to consider ideas. Just note that I'm not as free as I used to be. I'm using this time because I already had most of this written up at one point and decided to use it because my area is currently in a lockdown for three days. I still wanna work on my Webtoon and writing fanfics helps get my creativity going.
Anyways, Enjoy!

Dublith - Curtis Residence - 9:40 - 1914
A teenager with long blond lock bolted upright in his bed; gold eyes wide and confused. His long hair falling over his shoulder as he stared at the opposite side of the wall, mouth open slightly.
What was that?
It was like a dream, but at the same time, it wasn't.
'Why ... did I hear his voice?' He thought to himself, grabbing his head and staring at his bedsheets in frustration. 'What was he talking about? H...He was talking about me, right? What the hell was that?'
Or was it just some weird dream he had due to everything that's happened recently?
A small nervous laugh left his lips as he realised it was nothing to worry.
"Yea, just a stupid dream. My head playing tricks."
Though he still felt that little niggling feeling that something wasn't right.
That the dream had been trying to tell him something and he was ignoring it.
He was ignoring the sign that something might happen.
But it was just a dream.
They didn't impact reality.
The blond shook his head; a frown replacing his look of confused worry. He didn't have time to worry about stupid dreams. He had to get him and his brother their bodies back.
No matter what.
Then it hit him that something was missing.
No, someone was missing.
"Where's Al...?" The teen muttered to himself, swallowing the overwhelming dread building inside of him.
The light from the open window didn't seem to bother him as the blond jumped from the bed, sprinted across the room and flung the door open. He ran down the hall and into the small kitchenette where a dark-haired woman stood over a stove cooking while a large man was reading a newspaper at the table nearby.
"Teacher! Where's..." He was cut off by a knife flying in his direction, seeing it coming he dodged the attack from his former teacher; eyes wide as he glared at him.
"What did I tell you? You're no longer my student," She growled out through gritted teeth.
The blond swallowed, staring up ay the woman before regaining his composure from the sudden attack.
Even if he was used to it from her.
"Tea... I mean..." He stopped when the knife was taken out of the wall and his former teacher's demeanour had changed to her usual mellow one.
"It's alright, Ed. That's the only thing you really know to call me by," She gave him a small smile which caused the blond to look down, slightly embarrassed that he'd been caught like that. "Now what did you need to ask me?" She gestured at his attire.
Ed looked down, noticing his boxers and a black tank top, blushing once more.
He was never usually this clumsy.
This absentminded.
That dream must've really bothered him if he didn't bother with changing.
"I'll change soon..." He stuttered out, shaking his head. He turned his attention back to the woman before him. "Where's Al?"
The woman's dark eyes blinked before putting a finger to her chin in thought. "I was out of a few things and he volunteered to go shopping for them. Why?"
Ed shook his head; the worry that had been blistering inside of him, slowly dwindling. "It's nothing. I'm just so used to seeing him when I wake up is all."
A small smile crossed the woman's face, nodding at the teen's words. "That's fair I suppose." A frown marred her face at that moment, turning her attention to the clock on the wall. "But..."
Ed noticed her hesitation and feared he may have been right to worry about his brother.
"He should have been back by now, Izumi..." The large man spoke up, glancing at the clock as well.
"Yes, he left just over two hours ago."
Ed stared between the two.
His brother had been gone for two hours and they hadn't woken him up?
"Why didn't you wake me up?" Ed exclaimed, sounding panicked.
His brother could be hurt.
His brother could be kidnapped.
And he's not there to help him...
Izumi put her hands on Ed's shoulders to steady him.
He hadn't even realised he had started shaking.
He was that worried about his brother.
"Edward, calm down," Izumi commanded of her former pupil in a stern voice. "Al is a brave and strong boy. Don't sell your brother for so short." A light playful smirk played on her lips at that last word.
The blond's eye twitched at that word. 'She said that on purpose...'
But he knew that she was right.
Al could handle himself, especially having a suit of armour for a body.
He took a deep breath and let it out, nodding. "Alright." His gold eyes filled with determination. "I'm going out to find him."
He shrugged his teacher's hands off his shoulders and headed towards the door when he heard a laugh behind him. The teen turned around to face Izumi to see her covering her mouth and pointing at him.
"Don't you want to get dressed first?" She chuckled a bit while her husband let his own smile spread on his face.
Ed looked down and screamed internally at his own stupidity.
What was wrong with him today?
"DAMMIT!"
Dublith - Devil's Nest - 10:20 - 1914
The blond alchemist tsked, looking up at the building before him. The building wasn't like all the others that were falling apart nearby, but the sign above the door was starting to fall off. It was obvious to Edward that this used to be a pub of sorts; now it was a hangout for thugs. It was in the part of Dublith that mostly criminals hung out in.
It was the perfect place for a kidnapper to hang out in.
He gripped the ripped coat of the lizard chimera behind him and trudged in through the open door.
His eyes scanned the long hallway before him, looking for any possible room that would hold a suit of armour.
The sound of talking caught his attention, turning he picked up his pace down the hall towards a door that was left slightly ajar. His eyes taking note of the cement walls, pipes along the ceiling, opened the door and walked down the stairs. The blond rounded a corner at the bottom of the stairs, taking note that the voices were louder now and finally came to a door. He put his head up against it; hearing a bunch of voices inside especially the exclamations of his brother.
A loud growl came from the alchemist.
He lifted his automail leg up, kicking the door open causing everyone inside to turn to him before throwing the chimera inside.
It was a sign to tell them that he had been told where their hideout was and their game of 'kidnap my brother' was up.
"Brother!" Alphonse exclaimed, his voice sounding both surprised and relieved.
"It never really crossed my mind that you could get kidnapped," Ed said, stepping through the door and over the passed out chimera he had brought with him.
"Brother, this guy is a Homunculus!"
Ed stopped, turning his gaze to the spiky-haired man standing beside his brother. "Are you serious?"
He'd only met a Homunculus once before.
Two; to be exact.
They'd said that both he and his brother were ... important sacrifices...
What did that even mean?
The man turned to Alphonse with a slightly frustrated look as he hadn't wanted the boy in the armour to reveal that. "Hey, way to ruin it..."
"We might be able to get some leads from him on how to get our original bodies back," Al explained to Ed, but the blond just glared at the Homunculus, knowing he couldn't trust the man.
All the man seemed to do was lift his left hand and grin at Edward.
The teen didn't seem to flinch at the sight of it only narrow his eyes. "An ouroboros tattoo..."
"Aren't you observant. I was hoping I'd only have to deal with the little armoured giant," Greed said as if mocking the brothers.
"Why don't you ask your partners what you wanna know?" Ed asked, keeping his narrowed gaze on the Homunculus.
"Partners?" Greed questioned as if wandering what that meant.
"Yea, the rest of the ouroboros gang from the fifth lab. They had a couple of armour bonded souls with them as well."
This seemed to actually surprise Greed as his eyes widen slightly before returning back to being amused, mocking. "You don't say. Well, it's kind of a long story, but we don't talk much anymore." A grin was plastered across his face as he talked. "I've got a little proposal for you. You guys are pretty desperate to get your bodies back, right? Because I could teach how to fabricate your own Homunculus in no time at all."
It unnerved Ed the way he spoke so nonchalantly about this.
A Homunculus was just an artificial human.
Why would he want to create one?
It wouldn't be right, especially after ... what they had created...
But why did what he was saying hurt so much?
Was that dream still bothering him?
'It's nothing, Ed! It's just a stupid dream! It means nothing!'
"In return, you teach me how to transmute a soul. Classic equivalent exchange." Greed finally turned from Edward towards Alphonse; a light chuckle coming from his throat. "But I really don't understand why you would want your other body back."
Ed lowered his head, frown marring his face as his eyes stayed on Greed.
His golden hair covering his eyes as he continued to glare at the Homunculus.
"It seems you have one perfect already!"
Al lifted his head up, realising where this was going. "No, I don't!"
"You're joking, right?" Greed asked, scoffing. "You don't need to eat. You don't need sleep. You don't even need to use the toilet! Sounds great to me."
His glare hardened at Greed.
How dare he speak like that to his brother.
To them.
They had been through so much and this guy was talking as if it was nothing.
"That's enough ... shut your damned mouth!"
Greed turned his attention from Alphonse to the older of the two brothers; who looked beyond pissed.
Alphonse stared at his brother with wide eyes.
This wouldn't end well.
He just had that feeling.
Dublith - Devil's Nest - 10:45 - 1914
"You dead yet?"
No answer came.
Greed tsked, folding his arms across his chest and frowning at the body of Edward Elric; blood pooled around him from a wound on his stomach. There was line of blood smudged along the wall he was lying up against from being smashed against it. His automail arm was broken, bits and pieces thrown around the room.
"Now how am I going to get that information?" Greed growled out, lifting an arm up and rubbing it against his head.
It was sudden, but he noticed it.
Red light crackled around the dead alchemist, mainly his fatal wound.
Greed's eyes widened; a grin forming across his face as he watched in mild fascination as Ed's wound sealed itself, closed.
Before long the alchemist's golden eyes opened and looked around, confused and ... scared. "What?" His automail hand lifted to his head and groaned. "The Hell. I was..." His eyes widened and grabbed his shirt, lifting it up to find his now healed wound.
It didn't even leave a scar.
His eyes landed on the large puddle surrounding him.
He swallowed; knowing that was his blood, but where was the wound.
Why was he alive?
How was he alive?
It didn't make sense.
"I would have never guessed..." Ed turned his gaze from his wound-clean stomach to where Greed was standing in front of him. He was no longer in his 'Ultimate Shield' form, but the grin on his face gave Ed the creeps. "You don't know what happened, do you?"
Ed's eyes narrowed at Greed. "No. Why would I? The wound was deep." His eyes landed on the blood. "I should be dead!"
"Not if your not human," Greed said, grin still plastered across his face.
"What the Hell are you..." He stopped himself from saying any more.
Create an artificial human...
My son ... Edward...
His eyes wide, staring at the ground in horror. "That dream couldn't have been real. There's no way. The bastard wasn't that stupid..."
Greed didn't seem to understand what Ed was saying, lifting a brow. "I don't know what you're talking about, but this tells me that you..." His grin grew wider. "...are a Homunculus."
Ed lifted his gaze up towards Greed, glaring at him, defiantly. "I'm not."
A loud laugh left Greed's lips as though it was funny Ed couldn't take the truth. "You sure about that? You just came back from death. You're not human, kid." Edward continued to glare at Greed as a thoughtful look passed over his face. "Though you're different. Your wounds wouldn't heal like mine or other Humonculi until after I killed you. I doubt the old man made an eighth sin and then erased their memory of being a Humonculus." He turned back to face Ed. "So, that means someone else with knowledge of how we're made created you."
Ed kept his lips zipped tight, narrowing his eyes and letting a low snarl out of his mouth.
This guy was talking as if he was one of them.
He wasn't.
He was human.
He had human emotions.
He understood how humans felt.
He understood the value of family.
He wasn't like these creatures.
"So, who made you?"
"I don't know," Ed growled out, showing his teeth. "And even if I did I wouldn't tell you."
Greed seemed to look unsure of Edward's answer, frowning until the sound of shouting and loud gunfire could be heard from down the hall. The two turned to face the open door that Ed had kicked in earlier; the noise eliciting a whistle from the homunculus.
"Sounds like you're cavalry is here, kid." As Ed got to his feet, ready to fight again now that he was healed he noticed Greed backing up to the destroyed wall on he other side of the room. "Just because I'm a homunculus doesn't mean you shouldn't take my word seriously, kid." A grin spread across his face as he watched Ed's face twist. "That healing is one sign. Heh, maybe you can regrow those limbs of yours."
With that Greed jumped through the hole just as the MPs came rushing into the room with guns pointed into the room.
They noticed Ed and asked if he was okay.
But he wasn't.
He didn't know if what Greed had said had been the truth or a lie.
How does he know that he's a human or a homunculus?
He healed a fatal wound that had to say something...
Was he really ... one of them?
