Prologue
A young woman was sitting in a poorly lit room, Zoe Twilight was an artist, crafter, landscaper and a writer. But Zoe still wanted more, she wanted to go on adventures. To have a family of her own, find and make friends to be more or less normal. And more importantly to get away from her mother, Zoe hated her whole family except for her father but even he could be an ass at times. Zoe wanted to see Hogwarts to learn magic, to meet the people, plants and animals. Zoe had grown so tired of her world she just needed her freedom. Zoe didn't want her mother around she just to go and do something nuts. She knew the Harry Potter world wasn't real but she didn't care. Zoe had been hoping and praying to go there to learn and live. Even her movies and books weren't making her feel better. All they did was fuel the fire, Zoe just wanted more to her life. Zoe had been writing stories about life far away from her real life. Well one more than the others her own Harry Potter story in away. It just felt right when ever Zoe would work on it. Zoe liked doing her work hell she didn't even mind doing stuff around the house. But with her allergies and her mother's mouth Zoe just didn't feel like doing it. Every time something good happened her mother would find away to ruin it for her. The holidays were a joke all Zoe's mother did was complain they weren't doing it right. Zoe just couldn't take it anymore she needed out. Their dog Kiki went running past her barking which almost always ment her father was home. There was a flash of light and Zoe found herself in a bright white room. She could see all kinds of television screens. A little girl was wairing a white shirt and a black skirt, she was sitting in a large chair.
"Where am I and who are you?" Zoe blinked trying to adjust to the light.
"I'm a guardian if you will of stories, I chose people who don't fit in your world. And place them in worlds would rather live in."
"You mean..." Zoe could almost hear her heart through her chest.
"Yes, you're going to get your wish but you must start from the beginning."
"You mean first year and so on that's fine by me."
"It's not just that you'll be part of the story but you can't change the main story. When Harry goes with his family to the train station you need to be on the grounds of Hogwarts. Someone will reverse time and some characters will be brought back."
"Does that mean..." Zoe didn't dare get her hopes up.
"Yes he'll be brought back to, you'll know where to find him and you'll need at least one adult."
"That's easy my dad, his the only one besides me who knows the world."
"Great but I don't think you want to go in your pajamas."
Zoe looked down at her clothes. "You're right, I had almost forgotten what I was wairing."
"You can't bring your movies or books with you well except your Harry Potter books. I'm going to send you back, any questions?"
"Yes one how am I going to get all my stuff together? Two can I go back in time and punch James Potter in the nose?"
"Don't worry, just touch everything and if you touch something you don't want don't worry about it. If there's something you want but can't find it'll show its self and yes you can go punch James Potter in the nose. I don't blame you one bit and I don't think it'll change anything. Here are some robes so you can blend in, take your pick."
There were four different robes but Zoe went for the Slytherin robes. She never really liked the color green but something about Slytherin felt right. When Zoe was putting on the robes her whole body felt different. But Zoe didn't pay any attention to it, she chucked it up to being smaller when she was a kid.
"When you're done you'll be brought back here and change back into your clothes."
There was a flash of white light, Zoe could feel the warm sun on her skin. Zoe heard someone yell James's name, he wasn't very far from where she was standing. And he was going to start in on Severus again, Zoe ran towards them.
"Hey Potter leave Severus alone!" As soon as James turned to face her, Zoe swang.
And sure enough her fist met his nose dead on, James fell to the ground holding his nose. Severus smiled at her, Zoe ran off before anyone could say or do anything. She liked seeing Severus smile, Zoe wanted to stay with him. Before Zoe knew it she was back in the room. Her clothes were waiting for her right where she had left them.
Zoe started to change back into her clothes. "You wanted to stay didn't you?" The girl asked.
"A little..." Zoe finished changing.
"When you and your father are done all your stuff will be sent a head. And don't worry about your health problems, now go your true future awaits you."
Before Zoe could ask what she ment she was back at the house. Her father was standing next to her, Zoe touched him and he split in two. The other versions of themselves were talking but it was like white noise.
"Zoe what's going on?" Zoe's father turned to face her.
"We're leaving, if you have anything outside you want to take with us get it. We can't take our movies or books, except my Harry Potter books. And I was only allowed one parent, let's go we have a ton of stuff to grab." Zoe went and got all the money her mother had hidden.
"Wow hold on where are we going?" Zoe's father asked watching her.
"To Harry Potter's world, we need to hurry... I don't want to stay here any longer than we have to." Zoe grabbed her writing stuff.
Zoe and her father wasted no time running around the house grabbing what they wanted. While they were up stairs they grabbed two of their cats, their carriers and food. Zoe wasn't sure of what was waiting for them but she was sure it had to be better than where they were.
I hope you liked the story so far, stay tune for the next chapter. I also have a book out called The Crown of Unity, check it out!
You're probably wondering why I'm writing fanfiction if I already have a book out. Well like everyone else I need to destress and I've always wanted to try my hand at writing fanfiction. Plus the way I see it it's good practice, here's chapter one.
Chapter 1
Zoe and her father arrived in Harry Potter's world with all their stuff behind them. They were standing in front of a small grey house with a small garage attached to it. It was very dark outside, when Zoe looked up she could see all the stars. This world smelt different, Zoe took off her glasses. She didn't need them anymore, she could even breath. Zoe looked to see the address, it was number seven Rose Lane. Which was funny because there weren't very many houses and Rose was the name of her first books character.
"Zoe I don't know any spells..." Zoe's father turned and picked up a large arm full of stuff including one of the cats.
Zoe took one of the cats, to be honest she wasn't sure which one. "I know that's why we'll hit Flourish and Blotts first, before that though Gringotts." Zoe picked up more of their stuff.
"How do we explain why we don't have any money in the bank? And you don't even know if you'll get into Hogwarts, plus I don't even have a job here."
"I've already thought of that Ollivander must need someone to get supplies for his wands. Plus Eeylops Owl Emporium will need help with the animals plus food for Hogwarts. Hagrid can't supply all the food by himself, the bank we blame mom. She blamed us for everything so it's our turn. We'll tell them she never let us have the money let alone put it in the bank." A small smile came across Zoe's face.
"You've really thought this out and you're right... You just might get into Slytherin."
"Yes but it'll be for a good reason, now let's get inside before the very few neighbors we have come out here." They started walking.
"I don't even have a wand, I don't even know if I can use one."
"We'll find out at Ollivanders, we'll just tell him yours was broken if he ask." Zoe said almost dropping something. "And I'll get into Hogwarts...the letters won't be out for a little while yet."
"But it'll be like back home you'll be told you're too young, your birthday is..."
"I know it's five days after the start of the school year, let's just get moved in. You'll see..."
The inside was much bigger than the outside, the house was in bad shape but nothing like their old one. In fact it was a lot of cosmetic stuff nothing big, the living room was very big. Just off it was the dining room, Zoe's father turned on the lights which made the house look bigger. It wasn't easy but they got everything inside, Zoe was just glad to see it had real electricity. They made their way to the garage, Tom her cat was sound a sleep in his carrier as was Weanie. Which was odd for him because usually Tom would be screaming his head off. Zoe was happy knowing she wasn't having any health problems. Her allergies, asthma and her hip problems were ancient history. How Zoe walked was even different, she had never thought about how she walked. But Zoe did notice a difference and she liked it a lot. When they went into the garage there was an abandoned silver truck.
"Nice little truck but I guess I won't be getting much sleep." Zoe's father said scratching his head.
Zoe jumped into the truck, she wasn't sure if it would start but it did. Zoe turned the truck off and hopped out, she closed the door behind her.
"It sounds pretty good, now let's go to sleep we have some shopping to do tomorrow. And I know we don't have any beds but let's try..." Zoe's father said opening the door to the house.
They figured since they were going to start a new life they might as well get new beds along with other stuff. They went back into the house and Zoe took Tom out of his carrier. Her father did the same with Weanie, Zoe went up stairs to see how many rooms there were. There were three of them, for whatever reason she was drawn to the third room. It might have been because it was the second largest one. When Zoe entered she turned the lights on with out touching the switch. Zoe placed Tom on the floor and got down next to him. She had forgotten how tiny he was as a kitten, Zoe fell asleep. It was the first time Zoe had gone to sleep happy truly happy. For once she was looking forward to all the new friends she was going to make. It felt good not to smell piss or shit from the dog and her grandfather.
The next morning Zoe woke up to the sound of laughter, her father realized he had real teeth. You see many years ago Zoe's father had his teeth knocked out at his job. So he had to get fakes, he also wasn't having anymore issues with his foot, hips or shoulders. Tom wasn't sneezing or anything, any problems everyone had were gone. Mean while Weanie was running around being her usual self. Zoe seen two litter boxes and big bags of litter plus big cat food bags. Her father must have grabbed them before leaving, along with a ton of wet cat food. Not that Zoe didn't think to grab this stuff, when you're in a hurry somethings can't be helped. Like forgetting to brush your teeth before going to bed. Zoe's father had taken out their tooth brushes, toothpaste and two things of mouthwash. The house had two bathrooms one upstairs and one downstairs. Both had a toilet, sink and a shower/bathtub, so those were things they didn't need to worry about. They went to a muggle store with what money they had that didn't turn into wizarding money. They bought two large beds and some blankets. Zoe had gotten a queen size bed and her father got a king. As big as their new rooms were the beds would look small in them. The closests were just as bad and so help her Zoe loved it. Somehow when they had all their money in this new world it was almost seven times more than what they had. They couldn't understand it but it didn't matter to them one bit. They went back to the house to get rid of their new beds. So they weren't driving around with them in the back of the truck. Zoe went into their downstairs bathroom and she noticed the full length mirror. Zoe was looking at it for a sometime till the mirror turned. Zoe's father was standing outside the door way.
"Sorry, but I had to stop you. I guess I can use magic..." Zoe's father said, entering the bathroom. "We're both different here." He stood in front of the mirror.
Zoe turned to the counter, she took out the first Harry Potter book. "We better check on Tom and Weanie's food and water before we go." She started writing down the information they needed.
"You know something the thought of working on wands feels right." Zoe's father said.
After they went to another store to get some paint and other things they needed. They went to Diagon Alley. Zoe was so excited to see it she was shaking all over. Zoe wanted to see and go inside all the stores. But that would have to wait. They were in Gringotts before Zoe knew it. The goblins had been watching them since they had entered. Even after they got to the counter.
"Me and my daughter would like to open an account here." Zoe's father said, placing both hands on her shoulders.
The goblin at the counter stared at them. "Oh, and why don't you already have one?"
"My wife was a very controlling and self hating witch."
"I understand, lucky for you we have a new vault we can stick you in." The goblin started to lead them down to the vaults.
Zoe loved the ride, but she was dreaded seeing the poor dragons. She loved dragons always had, Zoe knew no dragon belonged down in the vaults. Once they got some of the money squared away. They went to Ollivanders, Zoe was in aw of the wall of wands. She stared at the wands wandering which one would choose her. Zoe wanted to see all the wands and touch them.
Mr.Ollivander was standing behind the counter. "Hello, is your daughter getting her wand early?"
Zoe couldn't help but to giggle. "No, I haven't even gotten my letter yet. My father's wand got broke when we moved. So he needs a new one..."
"Okay, try an oak wand with a phoenix tail feather and a centaur hair." Ollivander gave Zoe's father the wand. "Perfect, it's not very bendy but it'll do the trick. It's just under thirteen inches, seven galleons."
The good news was they had gone over the money at the Leaky Caldron. Which was a little hard to find, the good news was they had spotted a witch who gave them directions.
"Thank you, do you need a worker for anything?" Zoe's father started to take out the money.
"Now that you mention it I do need someone to get me supplies for my wands. And to help me make them, have you ever done this kind of work before?"
"No but I'm a pretty fast learner..." Zoe's father said handing the money to Mr. Ollivander.
"You're hired, can you start tomorrow?" The two man started shaking hands.
"Of course he can!" Zoe couldn't stop herself.
They left the store after, Zoe's father was studying his new wand carefully. The wand looked pretty beat up, if Zoe had to guess. She would have thought it was from being dropped one too many times.
"Zoe here you're too young to be left alone." Zoe's father said placing his wand in his pocket.
"No I'm not and don't worry about me... I'll find something to do, like fix up the house. And if I need a brake I'll just sketch, paint, maybe write for a little bit."
They started walking to Flourish and Blotts when Zoe seen a tall man with black shoulder length hair. She knew him right away, it was Severus Snape. Zoe wanted to run up to him and hug him. Oh how she wished she was older, Zoe wanted to make Severus forget Lily Potter. Zoe didn't realize that they had started towards Flourish and Blotts. All she knew was they were right behind Severus. Then Zoe's foot got caught on a piece of stone and she fell flat on her face. Zoe slowly got to her knees, she could feel blood trickle out of her knees. When Zoe got herself up right she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you alright???"
Zoe knew that voice, she looked up to see Severus getting down to her level. Their eyes met, Zoe couldn't believe she had embarrassed herself in front of Severus Snape. The only man she wanted in this world, hell Zoe had dreamed of him. She was trying to talk but Zoe couldn't find her voice. Zoe could momentarily see in Severus's dark brown eyes. That he recognized her even if it was for a moment. Zoe knew in her heart Severus remember her from that day all those years ago.
"I think so..." Zoe said as Severus and her father took her hands.
Severus and Zoe's father helped Zoe to her feet, Severus's hands were ruff but soft at the same time. Zoe didn't want to let go of Severus's hand, she could smell old books. With a little burnt hair and a strange sweet smell, no doubt the burnt hair was from a potion he had been working on. The sweet smell seemed so familiar to her but Zoe just couldn't place it at the time.
"Thank you, I'm Roger Twilight and this is my daughter Zoe." Zoe's father and Severus shook hands.
"Severus Snape, I'm the potions master at Hogwarts... I wouldn't have even known she fell if I didn't feel her land on my robes." Severus said with a smerk.
Zoe was wondering why her hands or anything other than her knees weren't scraped. "I'm so sorry...I was daydreaming, I'm so sorry Professor Snape."
"That's alright...what's this?" Severus picked up a piece of paper.
Zoe didn't realize she had lost the list she had been keeping in her back pocket. Zoe wanted to hide behind her father. But she didn't, Zoe forced herself to stay put.
"I thought I had a lot to do today." Severus said unfolding the list.
"We just moved...I find making list helps us remember what we've got to do." Zoe said in a shy manner.
"I do the same thing, well I have to go." Severus said folding the list. "Be careful, I don't want to explain why you couldn't go to school." He handed the list back to Zoe, their fingers lightly touched.
Severus disappeared into a sea of people and books as he went into Flourish and Blotts. "We should have told Severus we knew who he was and what will happen." Roger said.
Zoe turned to face her father. "No we can't ...don't you know I want to. More than anything, that bastard Dumbledore he put Severus in this possion. He knew how Severus felt about Lily Potter and he'll keep using it to his advantage!" She could feel the tears running down her face.
Zoe was angry and sad, sad for Severus and what he was going through. Angry at Dumbledore, James Potter, Lily Potter hell at all of them for everything and anything that was going to happen. Zoe's father pulled her close and she buried her face in his stomach. Zoe couldn't help but to cry then Zoe felt a wand touch her face and a piece of paper being placed into her hand. Zoe's tears were gone, her father then released her.
Zoe looked at the paper, it read. "Don't worry I'll keep an eye on him the best I can or at least I'll try. Any enemy of Dumbledore's is a friend of mine. L.M" She knew those encyclicals anywhere.
Zoe started to look around then she seen a man in blue robes walking away from them. He had long blond hair, Lucius Malfoy and he was the last wizard she wanted as an ally. But he was better than nothing and at least Lucius was someone Severus knew. And was friends with, whether or not there was still a friendship there was a different story. The people around them didn't seem to notice what was said or happened. On the one hand Zoe knew Lucius would keep his word after all it was the only thing he had left. Plus Severus was probably the only friend he had left.
Zoe's father turned to look. "How much do you think he heard?"
Everything...I'm kinda impressed that he wrote that in such a sort amount of time. I didn't want him on our side but I'm glad he is."
"I know what you mean...let's go inside and get some books." They went in.
The man behind the counter turned. "Can I help you?"
"No we're just going to look around." Zoe's father said holding the door open for some people.
"Well I'll be here just in case, just yell if you need me."
"We will..." Zoe and her father said at the same time.
They had found a lot of books on home repairs, some on cooking a long with many others. They had even found charmed hairbrushes, Zoe had bought one for the school year. You just open the
box and it comes out to brush your hair. All the wizarding families were buying them, no doubt for their kids for the school year. Zoe got the last one they had, it was a very pretty ice blue with white roses. They had found some furniture in the second hand wizarding store. It was very nice but sadly they had to wait for the rest of it. The furniture did go well with the mirror, dresser and the wood for the floors. They even bought some floo powder, they were going to get more stuff. But they desided to wait till they had more money and they had gotten the house fixed up.
When they got back home they started painting the rooms. Zoe's father wanted to try out his new wand. His first attempt was a little clumsy but it was very good. They were just finishing up their new kitchen.
"Boy this book wasn't kidding when it said the first attempt at painting with magic would be hard." Zoe's father held up a book. "And I don't think it's because I'm new to this."
"I don't know, I think you did a pretty good job..." Zoe was putting down the new wood tiles for the kitchen floor. "What room are you doing next?"
"I was thinking about the dining room, you know I thought I would miss your mother but I don't. I mean look what we've gotten done just you and me. She's not here screaming at us, there's no dog pissing on the floor. Or barking all the time, do you want me to help you finish?"
"No but we better hurry...how about you do the dedrooms next so we can get our beds moved in."
"Good idea, call me when the glue for the floor is dry enough for the new refrigerator and stove."
It didn't take Zoe's father long to finish her room. Zoe had just finished the floor, all the floors were cement. So they bought tiles for them, except for the living room. That floor had wood already covering it. Zoe was wondering why someone would lay down flooring and leave behind a mirror and dresser. But her and her father thought they should keep the mirror, the dresser and keep going with the wood.
"Hey Zoe come up here!" Zoe's father yelled.
Zoe walked up stairs, to see her father in the hallway. "What is it?"
Zoe's father had his wand pointed at the dresser. "We've got a boggart in this old dresser."
"Are you sure?" Zoe had to stop herself from jumping up and down.
"Yea, I opened that small drawer and the boggart came out. It also turned into your mother...it did a pretty good job at it to." Zoe's father shook his head.
"Why mom, we weren't afraid of her."
"I think it knew that but it didn't know what else to do. I'll tell you this much I'm really glad you didn't bring your mother. I sent it back to the drawer, I'm thinking..."
"Maybe it can watch the house when we're not here. Shake the drawer if you understand us." The boggart did. "Would you like that just as long as we don't bother you too much?" It shook the drawer again.
"Well that works for me..." Zoe's father said looking at the drawer.
"Me to, I'll let Bella out of her cage when I get back downstairs." Bella was a small barn owl they had bought.
"Have Tom and Weanie been bothering her at all?" Zoe's father asked going back to what he was doing.
"No, I like having an owl around the house. I've got all the flooring down in the kitchen."
"Okay, as soon as I'm done I'll use my wand to put everything in place."
They worked right through the night, well till midnight rolled around. Then Zoe's father went to bed but they did get the rooms all painted. And all the floors down, they had even found a quick drying charm which really helped things along. Zoe stayed up to do a little more work on the house. She figured she would do the kitchen, Zoe thought she would get it at least a little bit set up.
Chapter 2
It was amazing how much they had gotten done in just a few days. They're second day Zoe's father had came home with a desk and a massive dining room table. Both were beautiful, the chairs followed not long after. All the chairs were stupid comfortable, the first time Zoe sat down on the couch she almost fell asleep. By herself Zoe had gotten the kitchen all set up, she got her tipe-writer set up in her new room. The third room was turned into a work room for Zoe and her father. The rooms were all done, the owl Bella was named after Bellatrix Lestrange. It seemed fitting, now before everyone freaks out and thinks Zoe's a fan of Bellatrix's let me explain. Bella had die-bombed a kid that was picking on one of the smaller owls. And attacked another owl that had taken over her roost and eaten her food. Needless to say Zoe's father had no objections to buying her or to the name. They both figured with what was coming up Bella would need to be tough. Bella was a small barn owl and she was a little dark in color. With a little bit of an attitude and tamper, over all though she was a very sweet bird. Bella tossed a dead mouse at the living room window, Zoe had just got done making herself some breakfast. Zoe was going to put the clothes away after, here they kept the house pretty clean. But of course the magic helped a lot, the mops and brooms were charmed by her father to clean. So Zoe could work on other things but she did take care of the laundry. She also cooked dinner, Zoe's father really loved his new job. They were even making plans for chickens and a garden, it felt good to hear him talking like that again. To see him so happy, they were making themselves at home. They had gotten two big freezers that they kept just outside the kitchen.
Zoe placed her food on a large coffee table they had bought. "You know if we wanted someone to throw things my father and I would've stayed where we came from." Zoe opened the living room window to let Bella out. "And take that mouse with you."
Bella flow down and grabbed the mouse but when she went to fly out. When another owl flow in, almost flying into Bella. The other owl dropped an envelope on to the floor and flow out. Then poor Bella almost got hit again, she landed screeching her head off.
"In these case I agree that was rude, are you okay?" Zoe asked as she leaned over and started to rub Bella's head.
Bella flow over to the envelope and picked it up. Bella then flow back to Zoe, Bella dropped the envelope into Zoe's hands.
"I'll take that as a yes, it's from Hogwarts..." Zoe opened the envelope as Bella flow over to the mouse. "I'm in, dear Miss Twilight we usually don't take students that haven't yet had their eleventh birthday. But seeing how your birthday is only five days after the start of the school year we made an exception. Here's a list of what you will need for your first year at Hogwarts." Zoe read the list as Bella flow back to her. "I'm going to need you to take a letter to my dad." Zoe pulled out one of her pens and a piece of paper. "Me and dad need to get quills and parchment for here. Weird the owl didn't stay around to get the money or at least a treat."
The rest of the day seemed like a blur she couldn't stop looking at her two hand painted wooden boxes. Zoe picked up her Severus Snape box and kissed him. The next day they went to Diagon Alley, Zoe's father had to work so Zoe was left on her own. Zoe liked wondering around by herself, she was even considering getting a summer job. For a number of reasons one being the money, second the experience and just to learn. Zoe like Harry went to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions first, she went in and seen a young girl with black curly hair. She wasn't very tall, with bright green eyes. The girl was a little chubby.
"Hogwarts miss?" Madam Malkin asked.
"Yes madam..." Zoe closed the door.
"Go on get on the other stool, I'm almost done with Miss Viola."
Zoe got up next to the other girl. "I'm Lavender...my mother's at Gringotts getting money for my school supplies. My father's working at the moment. He works in Azkaban."
"I'm Zoe Twilight, my father works for Mr. Ollivander... As for my mother, well she's not here any more. And thank goodness she was a horrible person." Zoe didn't know why she said that.
"I'm sorry, I guess we can't all have wonderful mothers like mine."Lavender said sounding a little sad.
"No I'm sorry, it's just a touchy subject. Do you know what house you'll be in?"Zoe knew it didn't really matter.
"No, but my family's been in Slytherin for a very long time." Lavender turned to look at Zoe. "But I don't want to be, I'm not a bad person and neither are my parents."
"The house you're in doesn't dictate who you are as a person. I think we get placed where we're needed the most. If we're needed in Slytherin then so be it." Zoe turned to Lavender.
"I hope you're right..."
A tall thin witch came into the store and stood next to Lavender. Her hair was very long and just as curly as Lavender's. But her hair was light brown in color.
"I'm sorry for being late. It was a complete nightmare at the bank." She looked at Zoe. "Oh, who's this?"
"I'm Zoe, you must be Lavender's mother." Zoe and Lavender's mother shook hands.
"Okay dear you're done. Your turn Miss Twilight." Madam Malkin said handing Lavender's mother Lavender's robes.
A black material started to unroll itself. "I'll see you at Hogwarts, Zoe." Lavender said, waving, they left.
"Bye Lavender...well they seem nice." Zoe said, holding up her hair so it wasn't in the way.
"Oh they are, how that family got placed in Slytherin is beyond me. But I agree with what you said to her..."
When Zoe was done with her robes she made her way to Ollivanders. When Zoe got to the shop Mr.Ollivander wasn't behind the counter like usual. Zoe rang the bell that was on the counter. But Ollivander didn't come out right away. Zoe heard the bell over the door. She turned to see Lavender and her mother.
"Zoe, you came to get your wand to?" Lavender ran up to Zoe.
"Yea, but I don't see Mr.Ollivander..." Zoe said, looking down the hall.
"Flourish and Blotts had a lot of people in it so we thought it was better to come here instead." Lavender said, playing with a locket around her neck.
"We've also got to get you, your cauldron, phials, telescope, scales and an animal." Lavender's mother said, looking at the list.
Lavender turned to face her mother. "Can we get an owl?"
"Let's see what they have and maybe. Do you have a pet yet, Zoe?"
"Yes, a cat, but don't worry. Tom's very good with other animals."
"Tom, like tom-cat?" Lavender rang the bell.
"You know, you're one of a very few people who got that." Zoe's father and Mr.Ollivander came out of the back room with a ton of wands. "Hi dad, Mr.Ollivander..."
"Hello Zoe, alright as you probably know. I remember all my wands. Let's see, for Miss Viola, let's see. Try this black cherry, just like your mother's. It's core is a unicorn hair and a phoenix tail feather." Ollivander said, handing Lavender the wand. "It likes you and for Miss Twilight, let's see. I have a wide selection of newer wands right here." Mr.Ollivander started to dig through the piles till he took one out. "Here's a juniper wand with a unicorn hair. And part of a venemous tentacula. It's very good for attack spells, charms and transfiguration." Zoe took the wand, even though she knew deep down it wasn't her's. "No, let me see your hand..." Zoe gave Ollivander her hand. "Very small pums, but your fingers are very long and thin." Ollivander released her hand. "And from what I've heard from your father. You have a very strong grip. Maybe just maybe, let's try this one." It didn't take Ollivander long to find the wand. "It's a white willow with unicorn tail hair and dragon tongue. Just under twelve inches. Very bendy and it has unicorn blood on the outside."
Ollivander opened the box showing them a very pale white wand with a silver line spiraling down the wand. It seemed to be lighting up the whole room. It was so thin, it looked like glass. But it wasn't, the wand was calling her. Zoe knew it wasn't possible, but it was. It looked so small, so fragile she almost didn't dare touch it. Out of fear of breaking the wand. Zoe took the wand out and instantly. She knew it was her's. It started to glow brighter, for a moment the wand seemed brighter than the sun. Of course, it was a very cloudy day so it wasn't very hard. Zoe held the wand tight, she wasn't going to let anything happen to it. The handle's top was heart shaped with a line of stars going right to the bottom. Someone had put in a lot of time, care, work and love into this wand.
"That's the one, it's good for everything and very unusual. It's one of the few times I've used unicorn and dragon together."
Zoe started to dig out the money, she could feel the power. "Here's the money Mr.Ollivander." The wand felt so right in her hand.
"And here's ours, Zoe do you want to finish your shopping with us?" Lavender's mother asked.
"Yes please!" Zoe and Lavender said together.
Both parents started to laugh. "I'll be going on brake soon. So I'll join you as soon as I can." Zoe's father said, rubbing Zoe's head.
"Okay, we'll try to get the rest of the school supplies. Then to Eeylops Owl Emporium to get you an owl." Lavender's mother said, playing with Lavender's hair.
After shopping Zoe's father went back to work. But only after him and Zoe took her school supplies home. Zoe went back with her father. Zoe stayed in the shop, she helped with the inventory most of the time. Zoe never knew how many different kinds of wood there was till than. The number of cores was more than impressive. Each wand was different in appearance and beautiful in their own way. But Zoe couldn't help, but to notice some of the wands were very plane. Zoe looked at her wand, then at a pine one. Then she thought about Lucius Malfoy's wand. And it's snake head handle, was that his idea or was it already there? If it was there before then why would Mr.Ollivander put it there? Zoe knew only two people could answer that question.
That night Zoe was getting all her Hogwarts stuff ready. Even though she still had sometime. Zoe had placed her writing and art supplies in with her Hogwarts supplies. Zoe was sitting on the floor in front of her new trunk. Zoe even made sure to mark everything that was her's. Zoe was holding one of her new quills. A beautiful black raven feathers, they were the cheapest. But that was fine with Zoe. She loved the raven feathers, Zoe loved all of it. Zoe's new trunk was black cherry wood. And it was almost black as night. The metal was pale silver, the trunk had leather handles.
Zoe picked Tom up and stroked him. "Are you ready for Hogwarts, Tom?"Tom just laid in her arms purring. "I'll take that as a yes." Zoe stood up. "Let's see, I have my ink placed so it can't brake or spill. My note books are just under my crafts in here." She then placed Tom on the bed. "Each note book has a latter on them. Just so I don't mix them up. I even have extra ones just in case. Lavender's mother thought it was a good idea."
"You're excited, aren't you?" Zoe's father was in the door way of her room.
"That's an understatement, Hogwarts. I've always wanted to go there. To see all the teachers, meet and talk to them."
Especially Severus..."
"Even if I only get to let him know that not everyone thinks his a bad guy. I'll be happy, everything else will be a bonus and that includes. Letting everyone know once and for all the head master is just another dirt bag. At least Voldermort was being somewhat honest about what he was doing."
"I've got to admit, I like this world a lot better. The pay isn't great, but it's more than doable. It's going to be weird not having you here." Zoe's father sat down on her bed.
"Yes, but we can talk to each other by owl. And I'll be home for the holidays. Unless you have other plans."
"Just focus on school, I know you'll do better here. Than where we came from. I think no, I know Severus will like you." Zoe's father hugged her. "You were right from the start about him being a good guy. Even if he doesn't act like, the fact that he helped you up proves that."
Zoe pulled away. "I think he gets angry when his at Hogwarts. Because of what happened and his job."
"I can understand why, he has to put up with a lot in Potions. And Dumbledore isn't helping any, his going to bring Gilderry Lockhart into Hogwarts. A man we both know has no business being there."
"Yea, but Severus and the others will know what he is." Weanie came running in looking for attion.
"Why not take Weanie, instead of Tom?" Zoe's father picked Weanie up.
"Because she'll chase people's feet at night. And tare up their clothes." Zoe said, holding up an old pair of socks Weanie had torn up.
"Yea, you're right, she can be a bit much." Weanie jumped down. "I'll go and get us some dinner."
"How about some Chinese?"
"No problem, have you seen our friend from the dresser?"
"The boggart's in the bathroom closet. I think it just needed to stretch its legs so to speak."
Zoe was surprised that the boggart didn't seem to bother with them too much. It would sometimes sleep in their rooms with them. The boggart mostly hung out with Zoe and played with their cats.
"You know dad, I think Phantom gets a little lonely. When he's here by himself, even with Tom and Weanie to keep him company."
"Phantom?"
"Well, we've got to call him something. And really he is a phantom of shorts. And the cats seem to like having him here."
