Update: In between uploading this and the chapter update (4/9), I uploaded it to ao3. I was initially going to upload it exactly as is on ao3, but then I planned to make some slight changes. Those slight changes turned into 4 hours of editing including adding Momo's dialogue to the story (since it didn't feel right to have a TodoMomo fic without it). In the original version, the readers could only infer what she was saying since only Todoroki and Kendo were audible. It also didn't feel right to improve that version but leave the one here unedited (since some readers may only visit this site). If you already read and prefer that version, PM me, but otherwise enjoy!

Hi it's been a long time since I've last read the My Hero Academia manga and even longer since I've written fanfiction but I just felt like I had to write this after reading so much TodoMomo recently :D

It was an unusually dull day at U.A. where all of the teachers endlessly droned on about boring topics for the entire morning. As a result, the morning lessons felt like torture and students tried their best to not be caught sleeping. Aside from that, nothing was too out of the ordinary in the class except for Yaoyorozu Momo being absent, meaning one less active participant to lessen the pain on days such as this one. An extremely boring day at U.A. meant that certain people were itching for drama. The gossip loving duo of Hagakure Tooru and Ashido Mina were two such people.

"My mind feels fried, Tooru! These lessons were terrible, it's finally over!" Complained Ashido as she began packing up her school supplies before heading to the cafeteria.

"My brain isn't that bad, because I've been sleeping through all of it." Hagakure replied while stretching.

"You're so lucky, I wish I had your quirk so I could do that without getting caught!"

There were several stragglers still in the class at lunch time, but most of the class escaped for the cafeteria as soon as they could.

Ashido spotted a familiar orange-colored haired girl standing next to a desk. The owner of that desk was seated and easily recognizable with his exactly half-red and half-white hair. "Isn't that Kendo talking to Todoroki alone over there?"

"Strange, the only ones from class 1-B that come here are Monoma to taunt us and Tetsutetsu to spar with Kirishima, unless…" Both girls seemed to have the same idea as they looked at each other.

"Could this be a confession?!"

"Let's find out!"

The two stealthily sat down at desks closer to their conversation hoping for it to bring them some excitement on this mundane day.

"Yaoyorozu isn't here today, Kendo." Todoroki said while taking out his cold soba lunch. "You needed her for something?"

"Darn, I was hoping I could talk with her. Uwabami, our internship supervisor, asked us to meet up afterschool so she could introduce us to another hero she knew to see if we want to intern under them…"

"You want to change internships?"

Kendo sighed and nodded her head. "Yes, both Yaoyorozu and I want to partake in some more heroic activities than commercials and photoshoots..."

Once they found out the topic of the discussion, the two eavesdropping girls started to walk away, disappointed by the lack of drama.

"Yaoyorozu's feeling sick today and is staying in her dorm room until she recovers, so she probably can't meet you." said Todoroki. "However, I can call to ask her now if you'd like."

Hearing this, the girls immediately stopped walking and returned to their listening positions. They both seemed to be thinking the same thing. 'Todoroki knows Yaomomo's number? And he knows what she's doing?'

From most of the class' perspective, they were assigned seats next to each other and were on friendly terms. However, aside from saying hellos, goodbyes, and discussing the material the two didn't seem to interact much with the other. Or at least, that's what it seemed on the surface.

Kendo hesitated for a moment before saying "If she's healthy enough to talk, then please. This is just as important for her as it is to me."

"Okay, I'll check." Todoroki stated before picking up his phone and finding her on his contact list. It didn't even ring once before the other party picked up. "Yaoyorozu, sorry for calling when you should be resting. Are you feeling well enough to talk?"

"Todoroki-san, this is a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, my health has only improved slightly, so we have to keep this short. How can I help you?" Yaoyorozu replied with a weak voice. If she felt normal, she would have complained about his cell phone usage during school hours but she didn't have the energy for that.

"I have Kendo from 1-B with me and she wants to ask you something."

"Please let her ask." Hearing her instructions, he then handed the phone over to Kendo.

"Hi Yaoyorozu, sorry to bother you but I need to ask if you can meet with me afterschool to attend a meeting with Uwabami. She found someone else that we can intern under."

"Kendo-san, that is good news. But, I'm sorry. I highly doubt I can come-" She managed before coughing loudly.

"O-okay no problem, just focus on your health. I'm sure we can reschedule or there will be another opportunity in the future. I'm going to hang up now."

"Wait! Could you pass it back to Todoroki-san? I would like to talk with him."

"Sure."

"Yes, Yaoyorozu?" Todoroki asked after taking his phone back, slightly curious about what she wanted to ask him that she prioritized over recovering.

"Um-"

In truth Yaoyorozu did not have something in mind when she asked. She herself didn't know why, but she only started feeling a little better after hearing his voice, so she wanted to listen to him a little more. Maybe his voice had recovery powers? She blushed at her own thoughts, glad that no one could see her at the moment.

'This illness must be getting to my head.' She thought.

She quickly composed herself to come up with questions befitting the class vice president. "Did anything eventful happen today? And could you give me the notes for today's classes later?"

"Yes, I can give you my notes. I was already planning on asking if you wanted them later. Nothing out of the ordinary happened other than some people getting in trouble for sleeping in class." He paused before adding: "In fact, all of the lessons were quite boring. No one else has the ability to raise the class' morale on days like this one except for you, so your absence was definitely noticed."

He stopped when he heard more coughing on the other line because of what he assumed was her illness. He had no way of knowing that it was actually his sudden compliment that caused that. He became a little worried and asked "Do you need anything else? I can also stop by the convenience store for medicine to give to you later."

Yaoyorozu cleared her throat as much as she could so that she could respond properly. "If it won't be too much of a bother, then I would greatly appreciate the medicine, Todoroki-san. And I would also appreciate it if you could brew me some of your tea later."

"Understood, I'll bring them to you later. I also hope you get well soon. Goodbye." said Todoroki before hanging up, worried about her health if they extended this conversation anymore.

When he finished, Kendo thanked Todoroki and took her leave.

As soon as she left, Ashido and Hagakure immediately walked up to Todoroki.

"Todoroki-kun! We couldn't help but overhear your conversation!" Started Hagakure before stopping when Todoroki opened his mouth with his eyebrows slightly raised.

"Hagakure, Ashido… I'm confused as to why you said you couldn't help it. You two looked like you were doing everything you could to listen in on the conversation."

"Eh?!" Stammered Hagakure with what Ashido assumed was a guilty look as her hands went up to approximately where her mouth would be.

Todoroki ignored this as he bluntly said: "You are not as stealthy as you think. You two were about to leave before moving to desks closer to the conversation. Then you looked like you were about to leave again when the conversation didn't interest you, only to sit back down to eavesdrop some more. Though I'm not exactly sure what you found interesting in that short talk, anyway. With your quirk you should be able to move in a much more subtle manner than you did if you did not want me to find out."

The invisible girl momentarily became lost for words at his truthful statement when Ashido came to her rescue.

"Todoroki, that's not the important thing!" The pink-haired girl exclaimed. "Why do you have Yaomomo's number?"

Todoroki didn't know why he was humoring these girls right now instead of eating his soba, but he nevertheless answered. "Is there a reason I shouldn't have her number?"

"That's… not what I meant." Ashido sighed. "Let me rephrase: how long have you had her number for, anyway?"

"I'm not sure why you want to know, but at this point it's been about 3 or 4 months since she gave me her contact information."

Hagakure snapped out of her daze and said "What? I've only had her number for 2 months! What about you, Mina-chan?"

"Me too…" Ashido looked dejected for a split second before returning to an amused look. She sent another question towards Todoroki: "Do you talk with her regularly? Is that how you know she wasn't feeling well?"

"I suppose? We talk and text each other almost everyday. She told me last night that she didn't feel that well before going to bed and she felt worse when she woke up this morning." Todoroki had the same deadpan look as always, but inside all he could think about was how he wanted to eat his soba already.

"What do you two talk about?" Ashido continued, hoping to hear some juicy details.

He thought for a moment before saying: "Schoolwork, training methods, quirk philosophies, leadership models, relationships, family. That's all I can remember, you'll have to ask her if you want to know more."

"So you two are close?" Ashido's ears perked up at the last two topics and decided to ask one last question to confirm their relationship.

"I suppose so? It would be hard to become closer with her than I already am."

The two girls gasped at this sudden bombshell. Little did they know that Todoroki was talking about their seating arrangement, but the two heard what they wanted to hear so they would have ignored that regardless.

Todoroki finally put some of the noodles into his mouth to signal that he wouldn't be talking anymore until he finishes his meal.

"We'll ask her questions for sure. Thanks Todoroki!" Grinned Ashido.

"Yeah, thanks Todoroki-kun!"

Todoroki raised his head slightly while still eating his soba with his eyebrows raised as if saying 'Why are you thanking me?' But he soon returned his attention to his soba as Ashido's look told him the answer would probably be something that would disrupt his eating.

"We can't wait to ask her!" Ashido declared even though Todoroki already stopped listening.

"Can't wait, indeed!" The other gossip lover agreed as they went to the cafeteria together.

"This is juicy. Finally some dating news about that pretty boy!" Ashido excitedly exclaimed as she raised her fists in triumph. Who cares about the morning lessons, this was a successful day now! "Now I'm wondering when those two got so close."

"Ah that reminds me, Mina-chan, I saw those two go on a date before." Hagakure giggled.

"WHAT?! Why am I only hearing about this now?!"

"Sorry I forgot about it until now, here's what happened…" She talked about the time when she and Uraraka told Yaoyorozu about the Ennichi festival and her rejecting their invitation to go with them, only to see her there in a yukata alone with Todoroki. At the beginning, she struggled to keep her giggling out of the story. She gave up trying to hold back and joined her friend after seeing Ashido laughing more and more as the story went on.

They giggled as they walked while also talking about what questions they could "ask" (interrogate) their dear friend Momo and if they should share their discoveries with the other girls. These two would end up being the second and third happiest students when Yaoyorozu returned to class in two days (the first, they decided, belonged solely to her seatmate).

Closing comments: As I said before I've spent pretty much an entire month reading TodoMomo fanfics so now I'm pretty much absorbed in them! I wasn't that involved in the ship until I listened to the drama CD Ennichi Festival. This fanfic is heavily based on that too.

I highly recommend listening to it if you haven't yet if you're a fan of TodoMomo (the entire drama cd is heavy TodoMomo) and it also uses the official voice actors from MHA. Not every drama cd is canon but for the purposes of this story it is :)

Thanks for reading!
