A/N: This will be based on some outings. If anyone has any destination they want the group to go to, let me know, I will say I already got 10 chapters written, but I can work something in. Some chapters are a lot longer than others. This will include some small weekend retreats and other longer trips as a group. I thought this would be a funny/ cute story premise. This first chapter came to me in a dream. I didn't plan to be any more than light S/J, but you know your muse sometimes leads you in other directions. It is very team orientated and comedy than anything else. A/U for sure. I hope you enjoy it.
Sam closed her eyes. Jack O'Neill had wanted her to "have a life." She wanted to have a life, and Jack had kept pushing and pushing for her to go to his cabin alone. She knew what would happen if they did. She knew it was a horrible idea because anytime the two of them were alone, she had many thoughts she shouldn't be having.
After talking with Janet about the best course of action, after a few too many glasses of wine, Janet had told Sam to turn the tables slightly. When they all had downtime, she should plan group activities, the four of them. Sam had let Daniel in on the secret, and the two of them had been making a list of things to do. The criteria were something they wouldn't mind doing, something Teal'c enjoyed or had never done before, and something that would slightly annoy Jack. The thought process was that Jack would stop pushing them, or at the very least, the three of them would be entertained by Jack's annoyance.
It was a few weeks later when General Hammond insisted that SG-1 take a long weekend. Sam didn't protest the idea, and Jack eye-balled her funny when she actually smiled at the fact they had a long weekend. It was the first week of September, and the last week she could put this particular idea into action.
General Hammond went back to his office.
"You okay Carter," Jack asked in front of everyone.
"Of course, sir. I have plans this weekend," Sam claimed.
"Plans, as in you have something to do?" Jack asked.
"Well, I think we all have plans, that is if you and Teal'c aren't doing anything," Sam claimed.
Jack gave her a funny look.
"You mean a team night, of course, Carter. We can do something tonight," Jack claimed.
"No, I mean a weekend," Sam claimed.
Jack was utterly confused.
"Everyone meets at my place tomorrow morning; bring your swim trunks," Sam claimed.
Daniel smiled, knowing what Sam had in mind, and Sam walked out of the briefing room.
Jack looked at Daniel and instantly knew he was aware of what was happening.
"Daniel," Jack wined.
"Trust me, Jack, we'll have a good time," Daniel claimed.
"Well, there goes my plans of opera for the night," Jack said jokingly.
They all knew Jack enjoyed opera, and Daniel thought of adding it to the list. Although it wouldn't annoy Jack to go, Daniel would find it interesting to see how Teal'c felt about it, though.
SG-1 was finishing up their day, trying to get things done. Jack was chewing on his bottom lip, wondering what the plan was. Jack didn't like being left in the dark. He was sure this wasn't going to end well. He trusted Carter with his life, but he wasn't so sure he trusted her with his free time.
When they were done for the day, Sam had reminded everyone to be at her house by 8 am, and they would get Teal'c. Sam told them to pack enough for 2 days.
Friday came, and Sam had a huge pile of stuff sitting on her porch, hoping that Jack wouldn't be too upset he was hauling it to their destination. Daniel had shown up to Sam's house first.
"You're okay with this, right?" Sam asked.
Daniel smiled.
"Of course, Sam, I think this will be good for all of us even if it's a bit different," Daniel smiled.
Jack pulled up to the house.
He got out of the truck and seen the pile on the porch, a tent, folding chairs, sleeping bags.
"We're camping on our day off?" Jack asked.
"Something like that," Sam claimed.
Jack rolled his eyes at her, and the three of them loaded his truck.
"So Daniel knows where we're going just in case we get separated. The first stop is the mountain to get Teal'c, and we'll be on our way," Sam claimed.
Daniel got in with Jack, and they both headed towards the SGC.
"So what's going on, Danny?" Jack asked.
"Well, Sam wanted us to do something together, and it's not a bad idea," Daniel claimed.
"You know that's not what I mean," Jack claimed.
Daniel looked over at him.
"I don't know what you want me to say, Jack," Daniel claimed.
"I mean, I don't get it. I've tried to get Sam out and about for years, and suddenly she's making plans for our days off?" Jack asked.
"You know it's not like that, Jack, if you're busy, you don't have to go," Daniel claimed.
Jack sighed.
"Daniel, you know that's not what I meant either!" Jack claimed.
"Well, what is it Jack, what are you trying to say?" Daniel asked, obviously getting angry.
"Well, it's just…" Jack stops.
"Just say it, Jack!" Daniel growled.
"Why now?" Jack asked.
Daniel looked at him.
"Do you know how much you bug Sam and I "to get a life?" Daniel asked.
"All the time, but this is not what I meant. I want you to go play nice with the other kids, make new friends, not just hang out with me and T all the time," Jack claimed.
"Well, considering our day jobs, it's not that easy. Tell me, Jack, when was the last time you did something with someone you didn't know from work?" Daniel asked.
Jack doesn't answer the question.
"Exactly!" Daniel claimed.
Jack says nothing more as he follows Sam out onto the highway.
"Do you know how far it is?" Jack asks Daniel.
"About 2 hours or so," Daniel claimed.
Jack nodded as he drove on the freeway, headed away from Colorado Springs.
When they turned off on the road, and he saw the sign, he slowed down.
"She's joking, right?" Jack asked.
Daniel smiled.
"No, besides it has an adult area, it will be fine," Daniel explained.
"How do I get mixed up in all of this?" Jack asked.
"Please, you'll get the most enjoyment out of all of this," Daniel claimed.
Jack rolled his eyes and followed Sam, finally making it to the parking lot of "Beaver Creek Wilderness Water Adventure Park."
Jack hopped out of the truck.
"Are you serious, Carter?" Jack asked.
"What Teal'c has never been to a water park, and I figure he needs to see one at least," Sam claims.
"And the tents?" Jack asked.
"You know it's a Wilderness Park. There are camping grounds," Sam claimed.
"I'll get the tickets since it was my choice, and we'll head over to the campgrounds," Sam claimed.
Jack was mumbling under his breath, still wondering how he ended up here.
Sam had gotten everything they needed for their 2-day stay and got the map with their marked campground. They go to the "wilderness area" and drive down to the campsite. They weren't right on top of each other, but they could easily see 3 tents around them.
The four of them easily set up the tent. Up it was a "five-room" tent with a common room in the middle, giving each their own private space.
"So how is Teal'c gonna get away with his forehead sticking out like a sore thumb?" Jack asked.
Sam looked at him.
"Already thought ahead. She grabs a roll of waterproof medical tape.
"If anyone asks, it's an offensive tattoo," Sam claims, taping the area. Of Teal'c's forehead.
Jack sighs.
"Alright, there is a pathway back to the water park, and there the slide pool, the wave pool, a lazy river. Adult only swimming area, adult only hot tubs, and the bumper boats." Sam claimed.
They walk the trail from the campsite to the adult-only area, figuring it would less crowd this time of day, and they relax in the lazy river. It's not as big as the main one, but it wasn't busy—each in a huge inter-tube letting the river take them.
Jack had to admit it was pretty relaxing and didn't hurt that Sam was behind him, and every so often, his inter-tube would hit the wall side and turn him to face her, leaving the view of Sam in a blue bikini. He hadn't seen that much of her skin prior to today, and he couldn't help but smile every time his eyes found hers. Daniel and Teal'c were in front of them on the lazy river, and after about an hour, they abandon their floats and decide to go to the slide pool. Sam is explaining to Teal'c about the water slides, and he is curious about them. They put their belongings in a couple of lockers and find a place to set their towels. They stay there longer than they think they would, grabbing various food and snacks. The sun was setting, and Daniel suggested they head for the hot tubs. Sam agreed, and the four of them moved their belongings once again and get to the hot tub area. It had big spas like at hotels and then smaller ones as well. They found an open 6 person tub, and all got in.
"So Jack, was today that horrible?" Daniel asks.
Jack smiles.
"No, not at all," Jack smiled.
Daniel laughed.
"Teal'c, what did you think?" Jack asked.
"This was quite enjoyable," Teal'c claimed.
They went to a restaurant on the property that served Mexican cuisine and walked back to the campsite to end the night. The trail back was different than the one they had used prior and had children's "Obstacle course" running beside it.
"I would have loved that as a kid," Jack pointed out.
Sam smiled and looked at a few kids, climbing, running, and jumping the brightly lit course. Several people were on the trail walking back with firewood from the camp store. Some parents were patiently waiting for their kids to get through each section of the course. They had made it toward the end, where a swing rope area looked like tall grass. It had platforms that an adult could easily go across but was a pretty wide gap for little kids. Underneath the platform was padding, and it was a foot drop at best. It had a mister on it, making it look like a foggy jungle.
"Ian, sweetheart, you can try again tomorrow." The woman pleaded.
The group of four looks to see a little boy about 3 years old on the 2nd platform panicking.
"The mother had a small infant in her arms sleeping soundly.
"Do you need some help?" Jack asked.
"No, we'll be fine. He loves the obstacle course but always gets stuck here. Usually, I go and get him, but I don't want to get her wet; he'll learn," She claims.
Jack nodded.
"One of us can go get him for you," Jack claimed.
She looks at her little boy again.
"I would really appreciate it." The woman claims.
Jack walks over.
"Hi, Ian, my name is Jack, and your mom sent me over to see if I could help," Jack claimed.
The boy looked at him.
"I'm scared." He admitted.
"It's okay to be scared, but look around," Jack said.
He pointed at all the green ropes he could hold onto, and if he happened to fall, it would be a soft landing; Ian looked down at the floor and sat on the platform and then stood on the ground, confirming Jack's words. The little boy nodded and tried to get himself back on the platform. Jack helped him up, and the little boy grabbed a rope and went to the next platform, then the next and the next, making it through to the end.
His mother smiled and thanked Jack profusely.
He blushed at the woman claiming it wasn't a problem, and Jack and Sam smiled at Jack as he came back to join the group and continued ahead.
They finally got back to the campsite.
The electric lantern lit up the tent, they had already showered at the pool house and were all changing into more comfortable clothes, the summertime warmth left Sam to wear shorts and a t-shirt, Daniel and Jack came out wearing lounge pants, Jack's were Simpsons, with Homer's head all over them. Daniel's were green plaid. Teal'c was unsure why people of Earth changed their clothes so many times in a day but still wore his t-shirt and a pair of cargo shorts.
They all sit on the logs around the campfire pit, and Jack starts the fire. Sam pulls out some jiffy pop.
"I haven't done this in ages." She admitted.
She held it close to the fire-dawning heat-resistant gloves, and Jack rolls his eyes at her but knows its the safest thing she could do.
The popcorn pops, and she shakes it vigorously, enough for Jack to realize she isn't wearing a bra under her shirt, and he stares at her chest until he notices the jiffy pop in his face and Sam asking if he wants some.
"Huh? Yeah…" Jack takes a handful. "This isn't right, Carter, and it's not even burnt." He claims.
Sam laughs at him and throws a piece in his face.
The four of them sit around the campfire as Jack, Daniel Sam, and Teal'c discuss the day and plans for tomorrow.
It wasn't really late, but the swimming and the water drained the group, and Teal'c claims he needs to Kelt'noreem but doesn't think it's safe to do so in the tent.
"It's not quite the same, Sam claims, and goes back into the tent and comes back out with a large bag of battery-operated candles.
"This will suffice," Teal'c claims and heads into the tent first. Daniel agrees that he is tired, and the plan was to pack up and leave first thing in the morning.
Sam and Jack watch the fire.
"It was really cute what you did for that little boy," Sam claimed.
"Cute?" Jack asked.
"Very," Sam claimed.
They both smile at each other.
"Sorry I wasn't so keen on the idea," Jack claimed.
"That was on purpose, but I hope you've had a good time," Sam claimed.
"I've had a lot worse weekends," Jack claims.
Sam smiles. The two of them put out the fire waiting and making sure there are no embers and go to the opposite side of the tent to sleep.
