Disclaimer: Power Rangers is owned by Hasbro. But I'm just borrowing them for a little April 1st absurdity. (Set after Dino Fury Episode 3)

The sound of chirping birds and the warm morning sunlight greeted Ollie as he found a comfortable looking park bench to sit down on. He reclined on the wooden seat and pulled out a book along with a thermos of freshly brewed coffee from his blue backpack. He had expected a lot of changes and uncertainty when he moved here to Pine Ridge with his mother, but becoming a Power Ranger and battling alien monsters had certainly not been one of them. At least for today, Ollie just wanted to take a much needed break relaxing at the local park with a good book, the sounds of nature, and most importantly… the peace and quiet.

"Ollie! Is that you?"

It seemed he spoke too soon.

He sighed and closed his book, turning to find the feminine voice calling out to him. He was greeted by the sight of his new fellow Ranger, Amelia Jones as she strolled over from the walking path nearby.

"Amelia? Hi."

The young brunette woman wore a troubled expression as she approached, "I didn't expect to see you out this early on a Saturday morning. What are you doing here?"

"Trying to relax and catch up on some reading," he said setting his book down, "Shouldn't you be enjoying a day off or something?"

"I wish!" she huffed in despair as she slumped down on the bench beside him, "I've got a work deadline coming up and I have no idea what I'm going to post! I was hoping if I went out on a long walk, something might come to me."

"How's that working out for you?" Ollie asked.

She simply glared at him then buried her face in her hands with an unhappy moan. "Ugh. I'm so screwed! I knew I shouldn't have put this assignment off till the last minute!"

Ollie watched her mope and furrowed his brow. He had wanted to enjoy a day off and the last thing he needed to do was to get roped into another one of Amelia's wild goose chases. But his better nature finally won out.

He began to reach out his hand, paused, then gingerly patted her shoulder, "Oh… don't worry Amelia. I'm sure we'll figure something out."

The Pink Ranger sat up in surprise and looked to him with a slightly hopeful look, "Wait… we? You mean it? You're saying you'll help me?"

Ollie sighed in resignation, "Well you are a fellow Ranger and the closest thing I have to a friend here so I can't just leave you in a bind. Besides, the sooner I help you write your article, the sooner I can get back to relaxing."

"My knight in shining armor," Amelia retorted rolling her eyes, "Okay smart guy, do you have any good ideas?"

"As a matter of fact I do," the Blue Ranger grinned, "Post a segment about the Power Rangers."

"I don't know. Isn't that like Clark Kent writing news stories about Superman?"

"A journalist who actually cares about ethics? I'm shocked," Ollie joked earning a scowl from the Pink Ranger, "What I mean is, why don't you write some kind of Top Ten List that BuzzBlast is known for? Maybe something related to Power Rangers since they're a timely thing right now?"

Amelia thought it over, "Hmm… that's not a bad idea! Maybe I could research a Top Ten list of things that modern Ranger teams tend to experience on their adventures. Maybe it could even give us a better idea of what we have to look forward to in the future."

"Great. Glad I could help," Ollie said as he started to open his book again. Before he could get back to his reading, Amelia grabbed his wrist and hauled him to his feet. She began to drag him along as she strode back to her office downtown. "Hey! Amelia! What the heck?"

"Come on Ollie!' she called with an eager grin, "We've got work to do! This article isn't going to write itself you know."

The Blue Ranger gathered his things and stuffed them into his backpack before following after her with a sour grumble, "I was afraid you were going to say that."

Later that afternoon, Ollie and Amelia returned to the BuzzBlast offices in downtown Pine Ridge. Despite it being a Saturday, there were still several employees buzzing about writing articles at their workstations or posting online content for the coming week. As Amelia worked at her laptop, Ollie did some research to help fill out her Top Ten list. "Okay, so what have we got so far?"

The Pink Ranger cleared her throat and began reciting out loud as she quickly went through a practice run of her slideshow, "All right BuzzBlasters, if you woke up tomorrow with super powers and joined a Power Ranger team, here are the Top Ten things you could probably expect on your new adventure!"

Number 1: Alien Villains.

Number 2: Two guys and a girl in a team of 3 Rangers.

Number 3: A forced comedy duo (who I'm not sure we have yet)

Number 4: A Red Ranger with a missing father or parental issues..."

Ollie interrupted, "You think Zayto counts?"

"Well, he's a million light years from home and he misses his mom, so... sure?" Amelia shrugged before getting back to her list.

Number 5: Robot Allies

"Sorry, hold on a minute. Do we have any robot allies?" Ollie interrupted again, "I mean, Solon isn't exactly a robot. Maybe more like a freaky cyborg-lizard thing."

Amelia stood up and led Ollie across the main office with a smile, "True. But we've got some other robots lurking around here that could count on our list."

She led him over to a large desk where a bulky humanoid automaton painted in red and white sat typing away on a computer.

"Ollie, meet Redbot. He's our new Political and Current Affairs Editor."

"Err... nice to meet you. I don't think I've read your work before," Ollie said to the robot behind the desk.

"Nuts and bolts! I'm a published author in Summer Cove and I'm kind of a big deal there," Redbot exclaimed while enthusiastically shaking the Blue Ranger's hand, "Not to mention a purveyor of the highest quality fake news in this great state of California!"

Ollie regarded the editor with bewilderment and turned to his fellow Ranger, "Isn't it a little strange that he's a... you know, robot?"

Amelia shrugged as they walked off, "BuzzBlast has been leading the way in progressive hiring practices so it's an equal opportunity employer for robots now. You remember J-Borg, right? She's also a robot that's filling in as the business manager while Jane is gone."

"Oh? Where did your boss go?"

Amelia scratched her head, "Not sure exactly. All I heard was that Jane got stuck on some bus and she's stranded in Albuquerque right now."

As if on cue, Jane's android assistant J-Borg rounded the corner and entered the room. Both Rangers paused and exchanged looks of confusion seeing that the robotic woman with red-orange hair was wearing a surgical mask over her mouth. Amelia flagged her down and hurried over, "Hey J-Borg! Is everything okay?"

J-Borg met the Pink Ranger with a friendly wave and answered in her digitized voice, "Hello Amelia. Everything is fine. Why wouldn't it be?"

"Well for starters... you're wearing a mask on your face."

J-Borg nodded, "Yes. You humans do this to prevent yourselves from getting sick. I'm doing it because I think I caught a virus too."

Ollie shook his head incredulously, "J-Borg, that's impossible. You're a robot. You can't get sick... unless it was a computer virus?"

"Affirmative," the android woman said leading them back into Jane's spacious head office. Ollie sputtered in exasperation wanting to point out that a mask would do no good against a virus like that but Amelia quietly put a hand on his shoulder and simply shook her head.

J-Borg gestured to Jane's computer and a backup thumbdrive sitting on the desk, "We got an anonymous source who sent us some fresh leads on a news story coming out of Coral Harbor. It was a large file and I downloaded it directly to my systems, but it seemed to make things glitchy. I called I.T. to come take a look and..."

"Wait. Did you say Coral Harbor?" Amelia asked in alarm as her Ranger research started to pay off, "As in the place where the Venjix virus tried to take over last year?"

Suddenly, J-Borg's eyes turned red and her digital voice dropped several octaves, "That's right human. I may have been foiled by the Power Rangers there, but they didn't expect I had one more backup program of myself stored away."

"And what do you think you're going to get by taking over BuzzBlast?" Amelia asked in fear as the evil J-Borg backed them into a corner.

The robot smiled, "Once I take over this major media platform, I can spread my data across the country when your content goes viral... quite literally! And you're going to help! Mwahahahaha!"

"Hmm, for a killer A.I. that's a pretty good plan, but a really lame pun," Ollie retorted, "Come on Amelia, let's show this monster what it's up against! It's morphin' time!"

"Hold up!" Amelia called pulling out her notepad and scribbling something down for her list "Number 6: MMPR callback. Oh, that's a good one!"

J-Borg glared impatiently at the interruption as the Rangers brandished their wrist morphers and chorused, "Dino Fury Key! Activate! Link to Morphin' Grid!"

In a bright flash of colored light, the Blue and Pink Dino Fury Rangers stood ready for battle against their newest foe.

"Power Rangers? Beast powers or dinosaurs, I don't care! I'll destroy you all the same!" Venjix roared from J-Bot's body as she prepared to strike.

Just then, two more figures burst in through the large office windows from rappelling lines. Both young men looked to be wearing helmetless Power Ranger suits of their own: one in gold and the other in silver. Amid the spray of glass, they also appeared to have similar facial features and wiry builds while they drew their own wrist morphers.

"You can't get away from us Evox or Venjix... or whoever you are now!" the taller one in silver said, "We stopped you once and we'll do it again!"

As the two strangers finished their morph, donning their helmets and visors, Ollie turned to Amelia, "I'm guessing those aren't the I.T. guys?"

Amelia ignored him and paused to make another entry on her notepad, "Number 7: Power Ranger crossover. Check!"

"I'm Nate and this is my brother Steel from Grid Battleforce," the Gold Ranger cut in, "Nice to meet you."

The possessed J-Borg attacked, interrupting any more pleasantries and causing the four Rangers to go on defense, blocking and ducking her flurry of blows. As they tussled around Jane's office knocking over shelves and papers, Amelia darted out toward her desk to recover her pink Spook Snare while the three male Rangers grabbed J-Borg and tried desperately to restrain her.

"She's freakishly strong!" Ollie gasped, trying to hold one of her arms in the grapple.

"She's also breaking social distancing rules too!" Steel added while he held her in a headlock, "Six feet apart, remember?"

Venjix/J-Borg continued to thrash, "You Rangers can't contain me! Nothing will slow me down!"

By now, Amelia returned to the room and aimed her snare gun at the monster, "Oh yeah? We'll just see about that!"

The Pink Ranger fired the Spook Snare as the other Rangers dove away to safety. A large net flew out of the gun and tangled itself over J-Borg, knocking her to the floor and shocking her with powerful jolts of electricity. Before J-Borg's systems went into a safety reboot mode, she fired out a small wire from her hand which plugged into an Alexa device sitting on Jane's desk.

The four Rangers powered down and watched in surprise as the Alexa device lit up with an angry red color and spoke in Venjix's voice, "Foolish humans! Did you really think you could stop me? Once I find a new body with opposable thumbs, I'll return and take my vengeance on..."

Before Venjix could utter another threat, Ollie quickly took out his thermos from his backpack and poured the coffee all over the device. Venjix's distorted voice sputtered in impotent rage as the coffee-soaked Alexa shorted out and burst into a cloud of sparks and flames. "Noooooo! Not decaf! You can't do this to me! I'm invincible!"

Steel immediately moved in and hosed off the desk with a fire extinguisher. When he was done, he surveyed the ruins of the office and gave a pleased smile, "Not to worry everyone. I, the great hero have finally killed Venjix for good. Yay me!"

Amelia stood in horror looking at the destroyed office while Ollie silently shook his head and face-palmed beside her. Meanwhile, Nate walked over to the desk and recovered both the thumbdrive and Jane's work computer. The Gold Ranger gave an apologetic look to the pair of Dino Fury Rangers, "We're really sorry about all this. If your boss sends an invoice to Grid Battleforce, I'm sure they'll be willing to cover the damages."

"Well I'm not in charge, so I guess that'll be J-Borg's problem," Amelia sighed as they all looked down to the android woman who was recovering on the ground. Steel bent down and gallantly took her in his arms, helping her to sit up again.

"Are you okay? Miss..."

To everyone's shock, J-Borg looked to Steel with an almost smitten look as she slowly regained her bearings. She lowered her mask and took his hand in a swoon, "J-Borg."

"That's the most beautiful name I've ever heard!" Steel replied suavely before looking back to Nate, "Don't you agree, bro? I think this one is my kind of girl!"

"Steel? You do know that you're not a robot anymore, right?" Nate pointed out.

The Silver Ranger waved it off huffing in protest, "Oh come on, bro! That's not fair! If you can have a super hot girlfriend, then why can't I?"

"Okaaay time to go," Ollie said gently taking Amelia's arm and leading her out of the office, "I think we've reached our insanity quota for today. Nice to meet you guys and thanks again for the help. Have a nice life!"

As early evening set in over Pine Ridge, Ollie and Amelia walked home trying to make sense of the absurd adventure that they had just been on that day. Amelia sighed, "Well, that was..."

"Surreal? Tell me about it," Ollie nodded in agreement, "At least you'll have more material for your Top Ten Ranger list. Number 8: Be prepared for ridiculous situations that sound like they were devised by a bad fanfiction writer."

"And Number 9: Always be ready to learn an important lesson every day," Amelia added, "Like don't procrastinate on your work assignments."

"Or that no good deed ever goes unpunished," Ollie remarked earning himself a slap in the arm.

"That said, there's only one last problem," he added as they stopped at the front walk of Amelia's apartment building, "We only came up with nine items on your list."

Amelia wore a pensive look, then spoke up hesitantly, "Well there might be one other thing. Steel and J-Borg got me thinking... what about Number 10: Love?"

Ollie blinked and suddenly felt his stomach drop, "Huh? What are you talking about?"

Amelia fidgeted a little more, "Well... in looking up a lot of the new Power Rangers that have appeared recently, there seemed to be quite a few of them that started romantic relationships with each other."

"You don't think that could also happen on our team... do you?" Ollie asked as the two stopped and met each other's gaze in the warm gentle glow of the setting sun. A light breeze rippled in the air and time itself seemed to stand still. The two Rangers continued to share a lingering look into each other's eyes... and then they snapped out of it and quickly shook their heads.

"Nah! That's silly," Ollie said waving it off with an awkward chuckle, "Like that'll ever happen, right?"

"Totally! Not in a million years," Amelia quickly agreed while she straightened out her pink blazer in an equally flustered tone.

They awkwardly shook hands on it before Ollie turned to go, "Okay. Well... see you tomorrow at the base for some training?"

"It's a date," Amelia answered before she quickly turned around and walked into her apartment building, smacking herself in the forehead at her poor choice of words. Maybe she'd have to start reconsidering that Number Ten thing on her list after all.

The End

A/N:
Hey everyone, happy April Fools! It's been a while since I've posted anything so apologies on that. I still wanted to do something a little silly and ridiculous today and to give a salute to Dino Fury which is off to a pretty good start too. Thanks as always for reading!
