Hello Everyone! I hope you all and your loved ones are well. Looks like I'll have more time to write in the upcoming months, as I'll be home recovering from major knee surgery. I hope you all enjoy these upcoming short stories.
It was a little after five in the morning when Charles Xavier wheeled himself into his office with a heavy sigh, his thoughts centered on the mission he was about to send Logan and Remy on. The mission was delicate and dangerous, but Logan and Remy were the best for what he needed done. Breaking and entering a heavily fortified and government sanctioned laboratory to secure files about a new mutant super soldier serum, called for a certain finesse and skillset only the two rough and tumble mutants possessed.
He placed the steaming cup of rooibos tea he made himself before coming into the office, on to the great mahogany desk once he arrived in front of his computer. He was about to boot up the device when his cell phone rang. He saw that it was Logan. Strange, he thought, why would Logan be calling him when he was about to see the man in a few minutes? He would soon get his answer.
"Good morning, Logan. I am in my office awaiting your…" Charles started and then paused as he heard some rustling and groaning noises. "Logan, are you alright?"
"'Ro, darlin'. I have ta go."
Charles frowned. "Logan?" He said, loud enough to be heard over the noises. After a few seconds, a horrifying thought came to him. Did Logan just, what the younger mutants called butt-dial him? He was certain that Logan was obviously occupied with Ororo and had no idea of the call.
Said woman's sultry voice rang out. "You can spare a few more minutes, love. I can guarantee you that you will be completely satisfied should you spare those minutes."
"'Ro…" Logan's lustful moan of her name and clothes being discarded were the last things Charles heard before he hung up. His cheeks became heated, knowing what they were getting on with. He picked up the teacup, taking a sip as he leaned back in his chair. Well, this was an interesting turn of events. He thought about what he had just overheard, and a small knowing smile twisted his lips. His two most subdued mutants were finally acting on their long-realized feelings for each other. Charles could not be happier as he thought it was something that would never happen, given the stubbornness of the two involved.
"Mornin' boss man," Remy greeted as he entered Charles' sanctuary. "What got ya smilin'?"
Charles blinked Gambit into focus as the younger man made his way to one of the chairs in front of his desk. "Good morning, Remy," he said refusing to answer his question.
"De Wolverine, not here yet, non?" Remy wondered.
Charles occupied himself with finally booting up his computer. "Not as yet. I am sure whatever is holding Logan up is very important to him," he voiced softly. He definitely knew how important Ororo Munroe was to Logan. She was his mate, the one that kept him centered and kept him fighting to be a better man.
