Chapter 1:
Blossom couldn't believe how late she stayed at the library. Well actually she could because it wasn't the first time that it had happened. She wasn't too worried about the city because she knew her sisters could take care of it, or come an get her. She gathered all of her stuff into her bag, checked out the books she wanted and took off for home. It was an incredibly windy night, which she wasn't expecting, and was surprised when there was a gust of wind that actually moved her off course. She stopped to make sure that she hadn't accidentally dropped anything becuse of the wind. Once she was satisfied, she turned to head back home when something flew into her face. She quickly grabbed whatever it was and pulled it off her face. She looked down at her hand to see what it was.
'A cap? A red cap. HIS red cap!' She thought in a single moment.
Instantly she was ready for an ambush. She didn't know how long she had been floating there, but the wind died down and an attack had yet to come.
"Blossom!" Someone yelled.
She was so on edge that she threw a punch at the person without even seeing who it was. Luckily, Buttercup caught her fist before it reached Bubbles.
"Woah, leader girl. What's got you all worked up?" Buttercup asked releasing her fist.
Blossom help up the cap and her sisters had the same reaction that she had. The took a position with their backs to eachother to minimize their blind spots and got ready for a battle. A few minutes later and the boys still hadn't showed themselves. It wasn't like them to be this patient, especially Butch. It certainly wasn't like Brick to let his cap out of his sight.
"Maybe, he hasn't realised that it came all the way out here. It was really windy after all." Bubbles said as she started to relax.
Buttercup's stomach growled as she relaxed as well. "Just toss it. We came searching for you because the Professor won't let us eat without you. I'd rather eat than deal with those morons."
Buttercup and Bubbles started heading back home while Blossom looked at the cap in her hand. She was about to let it go when she realised that Brick would go on a rampage searching for it and his brothers would join for fun. She quickly put the cap in her bag, so that her sisters wouldn't see it, and rushed to catch up with them on their way home.
10 Years Later
Blossom's alarm went off, waking her up with enough time to get ready for her first day as a high school junior. She looked at the dress she had made for this day and the perfect heals that she spent weeks searching for. Blossom loved fasion, but even more, she loved creating her own clothes. She had gotten interested in design in middle school when one of her math teachers used it as an example during a test. She stopped by the library on the way home and picked up a couple of books on the subject. The next thing she knew, she was making a shirt and she was hooked.
Blossom had gotten dressed and was about to put on her makeup when someone knocked on her door.
"Blossom?" Bubbles asked as she opened the door, not sure if her sister was awake.
When the girls got into middle school they were able to convince the Porfessor to allow them to have separate rooms. It took a lot of convincing and some renevtions to their home, but in the end the girls each got teir own room.
"What's up, Bubbles?" She asked.
"Can you repair these shorts? Buttercup borrowed them the other day and somehow broke the zipper." Bubbles asked holding out the article of clothing.
"Sure thing" Blossom said as she took the shorts and began repairing them.
"Oh my god! Your dress looks amazing!" Bubbles squeeled as she realised what her sister was wearing.
"Thank you." Blossom beamed. She finished the repairs to the shorts and handed them over to her sister.
"Thank you!" Bubbles said happily as she hugged her sister tightly before returning to her room to get ready.
Blossom returned to her own ritual and was able to get everything done in time fore her next alarm to go off.
'It's time to go to the mosters den.' She thought as she turned off the alarm.
Blossom opened the door without knocking because she knew it wouldn't matter. She hovered her way over the mess to the other side of the room where the window was. Once there, she threw open the multiple layer of black out curtains and heard a groan from behind her. She surned around to see Buttercup sprawled out on her bed with a second pillow now blocking her face.
"Turned off the light." Buttercup groaned.
"It's the sun, Buttercup. I can't turn it off. Besides, it's the first day of school and you need to start getting ready."
Buttercup groaned even louder than before as Blossom hovered back to the door.
"If you don't start getting ready soon, Bubbles will be the next one to come and get you.' Blossom sang as she closed the door.
From the other side of the door, Blossom could hear Buttercup fall out of bed and scramble to get ready. She had a smile on her face as she returned to her room, remembering what had happened two years ago. Buttercup was refusing to get out of bed and Bubbles was forced to use her sonic scream to wake up their dark haired sister. Because she had lost her hearing for awhile, Buttercup had ended up in some embarrising situations. Like when her sisters tried to warn her about the boys in the house when she was walking around with only a towl on.
Blossom made it back to her room and was trying to decide on what accessories to use when her phone went off. It was a text from the girls' best friend Robin.
'Can I borrow your light grey jacket with the white rose design?' she asked.
'Sure.' Blossom replied.
Yesterday, Robin had asked Blossom for advice about what outfit to wear for the first day of school. After going through a few different outfits, Blossom found one that she knew she could told her about the idea of using the jacket, but Robin was hesitant. Robin didn't like asking the girls for favors that she couldn't also do in return and that was the reason she was their best friend. When Blossom told her that she had bought it at a thrift shop, Robin seemed to relax and decided to think on it. When Blossom bought the jacket, it didn't have the white rose pattern on it.
'What Robin doesn't know, won't hurt her.' Blossom thought as she made her way to her closet. Blossom loved making her clothes, but she loved it even more when someone else was wearing them. After a little bit of searching, she found the jacket and took it down, but knocked something onto the floor in the process. When she saw what it was, she slowly bent down and picked it up. Holding it carefully in her hand, she culdn't help but stare at it. The red cap was the only thing in her closet that was out of place.
"Blossom, can you help me with this?" The Professor yelled from downstairs.
"Coming." She yelled back as she carefully placed the cap back into it's hiding spot.
She made sure to grab everyting that she needed, and the jacket for Robin, before leaving her room and heading downstairs. When she got to the first floor, she saw that the Professor had moved the couch and set up the camera for the first day f school photo. It was a tradition the the Professor loved and the girls didn't mind.
"Good. Can you stand over by the fire place, so that I can get these setting straight?" He asked.
The girls found it amusing that, with all of his knowledge and expertise, there were everyday things that the Pofessor had trouble with. Blossom stood infront of the fire place as the Professor was adjusting te camera. Bubbles came dow the stairs with a skip in her step and humming a song. She paused for a breif moment when she looked at Blossom with a bit of concern.
"This memory card is full. I'll go get another one." He said as he headed down into his lab.
"You were looking at the cap again." Bubbles said as she joined her sister.
"How'd you know?" Blossom asked surprised. Bubbles had found the cap not long after the incident and had promised not to tell anyone.
"You alway fiddle with you bow after you look at it." It wasn't until Bubbles had mentioned it, that Blossom realised what she was doing. "What brought this on?"
"I accidentally kocked it onto the ground earlier. Haven't you ever wondered what happened to all the supervillans? They all disappeared into thin air."
"Not all of them. The Ameba Boys and Princess are still around."
"The Ameba Boys weren't that much of a treat. Especially once the police started to use antibacterial spray against them. Princess is more spoiled and vindictive than evil. Also, she stopped before we even got into middle school. I'm talking about all the others. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I like only having to deal with the occational monster, but what are they doing?"
"I did for a while. We spend years investigating every little lead we could find. Only for them to wind up as dead ends. When we didn't find anything, I moved on and so did you."
Blossom couldn't argue with Bubbles answer. She had actually forgotten about them until this morning. The people and beings that made such impacts on the begining of their lives, weren't around anymore. Life was peacefull here in Townsville.
"What's for breakfast?" Buttercup asked as she joined her sisters.
Blossom and Bubbles ended their conversation there. Buttercup was't aware that Blossom had kept Brick's cap. Not having to deal with her counterpart has made Buttercup easier to deal with and neither of the others wanted to ruin that.
"We were too busy getting ready to make anything. So, it's just cereal today." Bubbles answered, happy for the change in subject.
"Hold on a second." The Professor said, stopping Buttercup from leaving. "Let's get this photo done before you get destracted by something else."
After the Professor put in the new memory card, It took a few tries to get a photo that bothe the Professor and Bubbles could agree on. Bubbles and Buttercup made their way into the kitchen as the Professor put away the camera and Blossom moved the couch back. When Blossom made it to the kitchen, she saw Buttercup wolfing down a large bowl of cereal, while Bubbles was picking at the bowl of fruit. Blossom decided to eat some fruit as well instead of potentially messing up her dress.
"We've got to get going, girls. There's roadwork, so we'll have to take a detour." The Professor said as he stood in the kitchen doorway.
Normally, the girls would fly to school, but like the photo, the Professor driving them to their first day was a tradition. Buttercup finished her bowl of cereal and Blossom put the fruit back in the refrigerator as Bubbles retreived their bags.
The drive to Townsville high was longer than normal, but otherwise uneventful. When they finally got to school, the girls kissed the Professor on the cheek and said goodbye. Upon entering the building, the girls went their separate ways. Bubbles made way to the art hallway, Buttercup to the gymnasium, and Blossom waited in the loby. Blossom said "Hello" to people as she waited for Robin to arrive. When she spotted her entering the door, Blossom quickly rushed up to her so that she would spend less time in an incomplete outfit.
"That dress looks amazing, Blossom." Robin said when she noticed her friend approach.
"Thank you, and your outfit will be just as amazing once you have this on." Blossom said as she handed Robin the jacket. Robin put on te jacket and examined herself in the reflection of the window.
"Thank you, blossom." She said as she gave her friend a hug.
The two of them continued talking as they waled through the hallways until the first bell rang. Unknown to everyone, was that at that exact moment, for only a fraction of a second, there was a crack in the sky above Townsville.
