It's been a minute! This idea came to mind and I wanted to get it out. No copyright intended for the song used.

I hope you guys enjoy, leave a review! xx

Rouge stood out on the living room balcony, her wings outstretched as she fluttered them a little and cracked her back. The rest of the gang were piled around Sonic and Tails' living room, all draped over couches and the floor, exhaustion taking over their aching muscles.

They'd been away from home for what felt like forever, battling the Anti-Mobians on what seemed the other side of the planet. There had been a few really close calls, much too close for comfort. With Scourge in his super state, chaos reigned with buildings and debris crumbling all around them. The ground at their feet split open as entire boulders hit the cold cement. It seemed like the Apocalypse.

Sonic was slouched in a corner of the couch, listening to the gang chat but his eyes were mostly fixed on Amy. He felt his stomach twist as he relived only narrowly saving her from plummeting to her death down a huge crack in the ground. What if he'd been too late? What if his hand had slipped? The cerulean hero couldn't bare the thought. He snapped out of his trance as Rouge re-entered the living room.

'You know what? I've been thinking-'

'That's dangerous.' Knuckles snickered as he cut her off, earning him an exhausted eye roll.

'I've been thinking, that we should go and do something.' She finished her train of thought.

'What do you mean?' Silver asked as Tikal sleepily opened her eyes to join in.

'I mean we never do anything aside from battling the 'Enemy of the Week' and then passing out on Tails' lounge.'

'Well, you know, it is exhausting work being this heroic.' The Blue Blur chuckled, Amy and Tails laughing with him.

'She is right, though. We have definitely fallen into a bit of a boring routine.' The pink hedgehog admitted, Blaze and Cream nodding.

'So, let's mix it up!' Rouge exclaimed.

'Well, what do you suggest?' Shadow asked as he cocked a brow at his ivory companion.

The boys were leaned up against a brick wall, checking the time, tapping feet, all passing the time in their own way as they waited for the girls to arrive. Sonic had a fresh scarf wrapped around his neck, the other boys all looking a little more dapper than usual as they waited on the streets of the city.

'Why does it always take this long for them to get ready?' The fiery echidna huffed as he slouched against the wall, growing increasingly impatient.

'Because it takes time to look this perfect.' Rouge smirked as she walked up to them.

The ivory bat wore the most sensational low back, black sequin cocktail dress, black thigh high heels to match, her make up a little more glamorous than usual. She briefly caught Knuckles' eyes bulging out of his head. The girls all looked unbelievable.

'We're all of seven minutes past the agreed upon time.' Blaze rolled her eyes, he more reserved lilac cocktail dress still hugged at her curves and arms, making her glow.

'Come on let's get inside before there's an argument!' Tails jumped in with a laugh.

As they all began to make their way inside the hottest club the whole city had to offer, Sonic was able to get a look at Amy. He wouldn't let on, but he'd never seen her look so incredible. Her bright red, cap sleeve cocktail dress hugged at her curves before flaring out the smallest bit at the hips, allowing her to move comfortably. Her little red heels with cute fluff on the top made her look so elegant and classy.

He wasn't sure he'd ever seen her this dressed up, her quills curled slightly and her lashes made her eyes pop. They flashed each other the briefest of smiles, both of them at the back of the pack, as they made their way inside.

Rouge no doubt knew the owner, a slinky vixen that looked like she ran the world. The two greeted each other emphatically before the fox ushered them all to a large booth where a waitress awaited their orders, it was all very lush.

'Not too shabby, Rouge!' Tails smiled as they all got comfortable.

The booths were all beautiful deep red velvet plush seats, above them hung fresh greenery that was strewn with fairy lights. Little candles littered their table to create a little light between them.

'Yeah, this is super nice!' Cream exclaimed as she slid in next to the ivory bat.

'I gotta say, Alexa really hooked us up.' Rouge smiled proudly as she waved to the vixen who looked after them.

The waitress quickly brought over drinks, an array of colourful concoctions being passed around before the gang toasted to another successful battle and taking a load off for the night!

.

They all got to talking and laughing, different groups conversing about different things. Their smiles lit up the room as they all relaxed, the music around them inviting other guests of the bar to the dance floor, drinks continued to arrive until they were all in a very happy place. They didn't know how much they needed a night like this.

'Oh, you did not!' Amy laughed before sipping her drink.

'I did! For second there I really thought we might have met our match!' Sonic chuckled in return as they tried to make light of their last battle, the two hedgehogs huddled next to each other in the booth.

'Sonic the Hedgehog admitting he may have met his match? Yikes, I never thought I'd see the day.' The pink hedgehog stated dramatically, and a little flirtatiously.

'Hold on now, I'm admitting nothing! We still won!'

'You know,' Sonic continued a little more serious after their laughter died down, 'I really did get scared there for a minute, when I was holding onto you in the crevice.' He stared down at his drink as he swirled it in his hand, a little embarrassed.

'I wasn't. I trust you with my life.'

For a second, as they looked into each other's eyes, it felt like nothing and no one else was there. The music muffled in their ears, their legs brushed together underneath the table, their stomachs in excited knots, the drinks making them relaxed and excited all at the same time. The building tension between them could have been cut with a-

da, da, da, da, daa, da...

'I LOVE THIS SONG!' Rouge yelled loudly and confidently as a new song began to play, snapping the two hedgehogs out of their trance.

'Dammit, Rouge...' the two hedgehogs thought to themselves.

'Let's dance then!' Tikal yelled back excitedly, even the most put together of people allowing the intoxication to release her from any inhibitions.

The two girls began to pull Knuckles and Shadow out of the booth and towards the dance floor, causing the others to follow behind. Some were a little more reluctant than others, but if there was a time to let loose, it was now.

Pull up, skrrt-skrrt on your body,

Performin' just like my 'Rari,

You're too fine, need a ticket,

I bet you taste expensive...

The entire gang now on the dance floor, some moving a little more awkwardly than others, no one caring. Blaze twirled Cream around, Silver and Tails laughing as they danced. Rouge made Knuckles let loose and dance before he actually started to enjoy it, not that he'd admit that to her. Even Shadow was having a good time, allowing Tikal to teach him a thing or two.

Run away, run away, run away, run away, I know that I should,

But my heart wanna stay, wanna stay, wanna stay, wanna stay now,

You can see it in my eyes that I wanna take you down right now if I could,

'I'm not sure I've ever really danced all that much.' Sonic smirked, he and Amy the last two paired together.

'I'm sure I could teach you a thing or two.' Amy smiled with an outstretched hand, surprisingly confidently.

So I hope you know what I mean when I say...

She pulled him close to rest her hands on his chest, causing his hands to fall low on her hips just as the music kicked in, their faces close. They laughed a little as they began to move, the beats controlling them.

It didn't take long at all for them to find their groove. They both used their liquid courage to push away any anxiety, the more they moved around the floor, the more they smiled and laughed. Amy's dress swayed around them as Sonic spun and dipped her.

It was as if they had been dancing together all their lives. Although, hadn't they? They seemed to know each other's next step, everything that was coming up, the other anticipated. They had seemingly never been more in sync with each other.

The more comfortable they got, the more everything around them began to blur. He would pull her closer, she would hold him tighter, their stomachs in excited knots. The tension between them grew again, their friends watching it from the corner of their eyes.

Let me take you dancing, two step to the bedroom,

We don't need no dance floor, let me see your best move,

'I didn't know you could move like this.' Sonic smirked into her ear, his hand on her back.

'I'm sure there's plenty you don't know about me, Sonic.' Amy retorted, just as confidently with her face now close to his.

'I find that hard to believe.' He chuckled before leaning in right up to her ear, 'But maybe I want to find out more...'

Anything can happen, ever since I met you,

No need to imagine, baby all I'm askin'...

Is let me take you dancing.

She'd never heard him talk like this, it was so out of character. All of this was so out of character. She felt her entire body go hot, she wondered if he could feel it. Could he feel her breath hitching in her throat? She had the overwhelming urge to kiss him, more so than ever before and in a whole new way. She needed to.

He was surprised at himself. He was always cocky and upbeat but when it came to Amy, he was never this confident. He wondered if she could tell he was nervous, but aching to hold onto her all at the same time. Could she see the heat rushing to his cheeks?Could she feel how badly he wanted to be near her?

da, da, da, da, daa, da...

By the time the song came to an end and quickly moved onto the next, all eyes were on the two hedgehogs. The sound in their ears became clearer as the gang started to applaud at their display, their cheers breaking the two apart. They snapped back to reality and let each other go, laughing their friends off, remaining as chilled out as possible.

As the rest of the gang made their way back to the booth, emerald eyes locked on jade ones - brief and fleeting. Amy had always been wildly in love with her hero, despite how she had downplayed it into her adulthood, and Sonic had always had feelings for her, despite never admitting to anyone - even Tails. But now? It was like these last few minutes had slapped him around the head and opened his eyes to how truly obsessed he was with every inch of her.

'That was fun.' Amy smiled awkwardly, her earlier confidence suddenly shaken.

'Yeah, it was.' He replied as he guided her back to the table, his hand low on her back, making her think her face was surely on fire.

.

As the early morning hours began to roll away, the gang were ready to call it a night. They all laughed their way out of the bar, on such a high. All talking about how good the drinks were, how nice the place was, and of course Sonic and Amy's display on the dance floor.

'This was such a fun night! Thank you for taking us out, Rouge.' Cream exclaimed as she looped her arm through the ivory bat's.

'It really was!' She smiled back before turning slightly to Knuckles, 'so I guess it's not so dangerous, me thinking?'

'I guess not.' Knuckles rolled his eyes, smiling at her all the same.

Amy didn't want the night to end, she wanted that feeling from the dance floor to last a little longer. She wondered if Sonic felt the same as their eyes kept flickering towards each other. She watched him scratch the back of his quills, the way he did when he was nervous.

'I'm going to head out for a run before going home.' The blue blue piped up.

'At 2am?' Silver cocked a brow at him.

'Yeeeah, still feeling like I have a bit of energy to burn. Anyone need a lift home?' He asked, looking around at everyone before getting to the bubblegum heroine.

'Well, only if you're going my way?' Amy answered, mustering up as much confidence as she had before.

'No big deal. Well, see ya, gang!' Sonic exclaimed quickly before scooping Amy up and disappearing into the night before she could even register what was happening.

The gang stood in place, briefly stunned frozen. As the blue streak receded into the night, leaving only the light from street lamps behind, the gang all gave each other knowing looks. They continued walking, snickering with glee.

'Something tells me he won't be burning his energy running.' Silver smirked as he nudged Knuckles.

'Silver!' Blaze hissed, more playfully than anything.

'I don't think he's wrong.' Rouge smiled deviously.

Only seconds later, Sonic had sped the two of them back to Amy's home. The skid to a halt at her mailbox before he set her down and they walked up to her front door. There weren't any lamps on the path, just the light of the moon peeking through some clouds.

'Thanks for bringing me home.' Amy smiled as they reached her door.

'Hey, anytime. Just glad you're home safe!' He replied.

'I, uh... had a really good time tonight.' Amy said nervously as she leaned up against her front door, the blue blur in front of her.

'Yeah, I didn't think I would but... it really was great.' Sonic smiled through his reply, the silence that followed slowly filled with the gentle pattering of light rain.

'Amy, I-' Sonic cut himself off to stop word vomiting but grew nervous when she cocked a brow at him.

Maybe he was still a little tipsy, the last of his euphoric state and liquid courage getting one last bound out of him. Or maybe he completely stopped thinking and drew a blank, his body taking over him. Or maybe it was he was finally seeing things clearly for the first time.

He was finally seeing her for the first time...

Before Amy could question him, he'd pressed her up against the door in a deep and passionate kiss. Her eyes widened in shock before she sunk into it, allowing him to trap her between him and the door. As the kiss deepened, his arms laced around her back, gripping behind her hips tightly. Her hands sifted through his fur and tugged on his quills as she allowed herself to be hoisted up by him.

The rain started to fall a little heavier as he held her up in one arm and used the other to open the door and push them through before slamming it shut behind them. Before they had even a second to think, to comprehend what was happening, Amy loosened his scarf and pulled it off, throwing it on her living room floor as his kisses made their way down her neck.

He still held her up as they kissed, walking them both to her bedroom. Her bedroom window was open, the sound and smell of the rain seeing through, the last peek of moonlight through the clouds shone down into her room and danced across their figures as took them towards her bed.

She felt his hand reach around to her back and hold the top of her dress, slowly and delicately pulling down the zip. The cold zip against her fur made her breath hitch, and suddenly slap her back to reality, make her realise just what was about to happen. Her cerulean hero noticed, stopped and looked her in the eye only inches away from her face.

'I'm sorry... we don't have-'

'Shhh...' Amy cut him off, wanting him to know she was just fine. Hell, better than fine.

They didn't say anything else, no more need be said. No thoughts, no explanations, just silence. He kissed her gently again, making sure it was ok before it deepened and deepened before it was almost rough, like they couldn't get enough of each other fast enough.

He kicked off his shoes subtly before sliding her out of her dress, leaving nothing but delicate red under garments and the little red heels. The rain started to pour now. The sounds of the water on her roof, the thunder, the small cracks of lightning all drowning out the sounds that came from her room.

Not that anyone was around to hear, but she tried to be somewhat quiet. It was hard, though. From the time she first saw him, she had planned out their life every which way, but as an adult she never dreamed this might actually happen some day. She couldn't stop the soft moans escaping her lips as he made her feel things she couldn't imagine. Could hardly believe it was him.

Him making her feel like this. Him making the same sounds, only deeper but just as intense. They knew each other better than they knew themselves, but she still couldn't believe how he somehow knew exactly what she needed here. Where to be touched and held and traced. She somehow knew all the same about him. His hands were clutched in her quills, her hands tracing down his muscly back. She fought the urge to pinch herself. She hoped he was happy here with her.

The rain was falling heavier and heavier. The lightning and thunder had started to crackle a little more often, just as they seemingly couldn't hold themselves back any longer, a huge bolt of lightning lit up the sky before the loudest crack of thunder - disguising Amy's soft scream and Sonic's deep moan...

When he lay himself next to her, he pulled the bundle of pink quills close to him, running his fingers through them as she rest her head on his chest and traced it with her fingertips. All remained silent, bar the pitter patter of rain on her roof, the sound of her sheets rustling a little over their bare bodies, the sounds on their ragged breaths starting to slow down.

'That was...' Amy trailed off, wanting to break the silence but not knowing how.

'Yeah...' Sonic replied almost dreamily, which she mistook for hesitation.

'G-Good, right?'

'Oh God, yes! Better than good!' He reassured her as he held her face to look at him before pecking her nose.

She smiled at him before nuzzling back into his neck. This hadn't satisfied her anxiety, though. Was this it? Was this the extent of their relationship? Was this where the road block came up? She suddenly felt sick at the thought that everything from that night was just a lead up to this: a mere release of tension between them. She knew Sonic was better than that, but she feared to ask anything in case the answer was exactly as she feared.

'You know, if you'd told me six or seven years ago that we'd be here... I wouldn't have believed it.' Sonic said softly, breaking the silence for her.

'Oh? Well... are you... glad? Or?' She didn't dare look up at him.

It didn't take much for him to sense her anxiety, and it was clear what over. He felt his own fears and anxieties that he always pressed deep down begin to surface. Of course he wanted this. All day, every day, with her. He hadn't realised just how badly until tonight. But, what about their safety? Her safety? Scourge would come back full force for her as soon as he knew.

'Of course I'm glad, Ames.' He answered before shifting a little so he could look at her. 'I mean... I knew I felt for you and I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't even register how much until tonight. I'm crazy about you...'

'But?' She sensed it was coming despite having just heard what she'd waited years for.

'Scourge. Eggman. They already target you. Can you imagine how much more focused they would be on you if they knew how much it would effect me? I... I'm scared to do that.'

'Sonic...' Amy trailed off, kind of mad but kind of amazed at how vulnerable he was being. She tried to be strong as she slid out of the bed and into her ensuite to clean up. 'I'm a big girl and I know how to take care of myself. We can sort those problems out as they come.'

'But-'

'Are you really willing to forget about this?' She stopped in the bathroom doorway, her back still to him so he wouldn't see the tears forming, a sheet the only thing covering her. 'Tonight? Us? For 'just in case'? Can we never just be happy?'

There was nothing angry in her words. She was serious, though. She disappeared behind the wall to clean herself up a little. Her words were seeping through every inch of his brain. She was right. Did that mean they could never be happy?

He wondered if he should get up and follow her, his stomach in knots. He didn't know what to say. He let the only sound fill the room be the rain from outside, and the tap from the bathroom sink running. Not a minute later, Amy came back into his view, still wrapped in the sheet. He could see in her face that she had wiped away a tear.

'Where do we go from here?' She shrugged through a whisper, desperately trying to be strong.

The blue blur couldn't believe how quickly their pure bliss had turned a little sour. She was right and he knew it but he was so scared. He didn't want her to know. His mind raced, he had to say something but all he could muster was a deep sigh as he look down at his lap.

'Ames, I-' he cut himself off before finding the courage, 'I want you. I need you - but I'm scared.'

She'd never heard him admit this before.

'I'm scared, too.' She replied honestly, 'But I know that not only would it get less scary, it would be so worth it.'

She walked back over to the bed, sitting on the edge beside him. She said nothing as she cupped his face in her hand and traced his cheek with her thumb. Seeing him this way was heart-wrenching.

'I'm all in.' She paused, forcing back tears, 'I just need you to decide if you are too...'

He felt like he'd been slapped in the face. He imagined it was taking a lot from her to say this. It's now or never and he couldn't let things end this way - or at all, for that matter.

'I am!' He almost yelled at her before she could move away, startling her. 'I'm in, I want to be. I'm worried but I'm in. It'll be so worth it. You are worth it.'

He was holding her face so she would look at him, and now she really couldn't hold back the tears. She allowed a few to slide down her cheeks before he brushed them away. He pulled her face to his and wrapped them both in the sheets again, the room falling almost completely silent bar the pitter patter of rain and his lips on hers...

'Oh, sweet, sweet coffee..' Rouge moaned, curled up in a ball on Tails' couch and cradling a mug to her chest.

'Ugh, shut your loud mouth, Rouge. Some of us have a hangover.' Shadow groaned, splayed out on the other end of the couch.

'Never though I'd hear the Ultimate Life-form say that.' Silver smirked before grumbling in pain.

Tails called the gang over for breakfast, some greasy foods and coffee to help soak up the booze from the night before. Cream and the kitsune were moving around the kitchen, the two seemingly recovered from the night before. Tails helped the pretty, young rabbit with the breakfast, smiling and laughing with her as they talked about the night before.

Everyone else grumbled and moaned, all spread out through the lounge room with water, coffee or ice packs on their heads. The only ones missing were Sonic and Amy. The two hedgehogs woke up late to Tails' message to come over, so they obliged.

'Yikes, you guys look trash.' The blue hero smirked as he and Amy entered the room.

'Yeah, yeah, yeah...' Knuckles groaned, his body basking in the sun on the balcony.

'Why aren't you guys burning in the fiery pits on hell?' Blaze questioned painfully, a cold compress over her eyes.

The two hedgehogs flashed a quick glance at each other, suppressing their smiles so they wouldn't come across as obvious. Tikal looked up at them through their silence, watching them move over to the kitchen to help Cream and Tails.

'If anything I'd say they're both glowing.' The peach echidna smiled knowingly, causing the others in the living room and balcony to all look up at them in sync.

They sat themselves up as much as they could muster to watch the two hedgehogs walk over to Cream and Tails to say good morning and help with breakfast. They all watched silently as the four talked, and Tikal was right - they glowed.

Sonic's hand rest on the small of her back when they thought no one was paying attention. The gang all exchanged knowing glances, all holding back chuckles. Even Shadow smiled a little, through and eye roll, of course.

They said nothing, though. Even the boys didn't poke and probe at Sonic, although that may come later when they're all feeling a little less like death. They just watched on at the two, knowing full well what must have occurred... finally.

Nothing like a bit of Sonamy fluff! I had another way for this story to go in my head (also involving a Jason Derulo song for some unknown reason?) - I might rewrite this and most it as a chapter 2 at some point and see which version we like better!

But for now... BYEEEEEEE!
