It was a sunny day in the Gold Coast of Australia, and things were changing for a group of friends. Hoping to get their minds off the drama of the world, they found themselves in the deep blue surrounding the beautiful beaches of Mako Island. Zooming past each other, the four figures swam happily and gracefully around the coral reefs, friendly dolphins and fish to their final destination. Two figures in particular, a blonde and a redhead, led their allies into an underwater cave with a natural pool of water. Both surfaced, smiling.

"I win!" Rikki Chadwick, the blonde proclaimed.

"No fair," Emma Gilbert, another blonde, pouted as she surfaced. She came second, all of her training to be in the Olympics somewhat paying off.

"Come on, Rikki. We all know who the real winner is here," the redhead, Luna, teased. The fluke of her golden mermaid tail swayed in the water as their brunette friend Cleo Sertori surfaced.

Rikki stuck her tongue out at her. The four girls sat on the ledge, relaxing as the sun reflecting off the ripples in the water. It seemed like forever had passed since the first time they met. The moment Luna moved to the Gold Coast was a time when she felt so alone, but then the full moon came and granted her wish for friends she could share her treasured secret with. Now, after everything the four of them have been through, she was forced to distance herself from them.

"I still can't believe you're leaving, Luna," Cleo sighed.

"You and me both," the redhead agreed.

Luna didn't want to move again. She spent her entire life on the move, struggling to keep her identity a secret in the hopes of having a normal life. Coming to Australia, things finally felt safe for Luna. She found a safe place to be herself, friends to cherish. Everything felt perfect. But Luna and her aunt had to move again, and to one of the worst places she could imagine. Even if she was born there.

"I think your mum's lost it," Rikki exclaimed. "Who names a place Forks?"

"For once, I agree with Rikki. Doesn't your mum realize the climate in that part of Washington is about ninety-eight percent rain? You could be put in danger," the other blonde stressed.

Luna huffed as she sat up, placing her head in her hands. "The ratio of rain to sun can't be helped, Emma. Besides, it's where I was born. It wouldn't hurt to learn where I came from."

It was true, no matter how much it hurt. Despite wanting to stay with the sun and colorful waters, Luna kept getting a feeling when she thought about Washington. Maybe she could finally find some answers. Her entire life Luna has wondered about where she came from, who her mother was before her birth and who her father was. Her aunt would never talk about it while her mother would mention very tiny details like the country he was from and what he liked to do. Unfortunately, she was so young she couldn't remember as much as she wished she could. Maybe going to Forks was a sign that she could find him.

Cleo, Emma, and Rikki sighed, watching as their American friend subconsciously lifted herself out of the pool of water and began to dry herself with her powers.

"You promise to keep in contact with us, right?"

Luna looked at the brunette as her legs returned. "Absolutely. I already have you guys on speed dial. Trust me, if anything happens, you'll be the first to know."

The three took a sigh of relief. It felt good to know that their friendship wouldn't be forgotten. As the other three dried off, an aqua bag by the corner of the dormant volcano lit up like a neon spotlight. A shimmer of silver trailing outside caught Emma's eye.

"You won't go anywhere without your locket, right?"

The redhead turned to the blonde, who held a silver locket identical to the ones around her, Cleo, and Rikki's necks. It was oval-shaped with a trio of waves on the back, with the only difference being the small aquamarine stone at the top. Luna grinned.

"How could I? It's our symbol," she remarked. Cleo gave her a sweet smile as the girl took the locket from Emma and secured it around her neck.

"Things won't be the same without you," Emma claimed.

Luna frowned. She wished she could bring her friends with her. But she couldn't do that to them. "I know. Things won't be the same without you guys, either. But I promised a long-distance friendship and I intend to keep it. So, don't go replacing me with some redhead trying to involve herself in our business. Okay?"

Her best friends - her sisters - giggled at her words.

"Who could ever replace you, Luna?" Cleo teased.

"No one, that's who!" Rikki insisted, an evil smirk ready for whoever tried to do such a thing to the American girl.

Emma held her close and leaned into the redhead's ear. "No one, and I mean no one, will ever take your place. Always remember that." The other girl returned the hug.

As they made their way out of the moon pool and onto the Mako beaches, the full impact of Luna's reality kicked in. She was leaving everything here. Her friends, her moon pool, everything. She must have not realized she let a few sniffles out, as she found herself in the middle of a group hug. Cleo was crying into her shoulder as Emma and Rikki rubbed their backs.

No. Nothing would be the same as before.

"Luna?"

The girls broke apart to see a middle-aged, redheaded woman. Piper Taylor. It's time, she stared apologetically at the crestfallen expression on Luna's face.

"It's time to go," Piper said. She didn't like moving, but it was either this or more problems to deal with.

Luna nodded, her heart breaking as she piled her things together. Her friends followed the two women, stopping only when a nearby boat with a blonde male came rushing by. He got out to hug the redheads.

"Sorry for the wait," Lewis said. "Nate was giving me trouble. I managed to distract him before bolting here."

Piper smirked at the blonde's wit.

Luna giggled. "Always the wiser, Lewis." She took a glance at Cleo before turning back to him. "If something happens to Cleo, don't go crazy over it. If she needs space, don't take it the wrong way. She may be too shy to say anything, but she is head over heels in love with you. Just keep that in mind. Okay?"

Lewis looked stunned before recovering himself. He gave her a nod. "Understood."

Luna smirked. "Good. Because if you break her heart, you'll have me to deal with," she joked, giving him a quick punch to the shoulder.

"Ow!" He winced.

Luna laughed. He might get a bruise later.

Cleo, Emma, and Rikki came over and pushed Lewis to the side, engulfing Luna in another bear hug. She pulled away to look at them. "Stick together. Nothing will tear you apart if you stay by each other's sides."

"Luna!" Piper called by the seashore. It was time.

The redhead sighed, making her way over when she remembered something important. "Watch out for Zane! We can't relax with him until we know for sure he's trustworthy!"

Rikki glared at her, not happy to hear anything regarding her ex-boyfriend. Nonetheless, she understood her friend's warning, so she nodded with the others. Luna sent an appreciative smile at her before turning to the ocean. Rikki was stubborn, but she knew when she had a point.

Once Piper dove into the water, Luna looked behind her. Lewis had his arms around Cleo, who was being comforted by Emma while Rikki gave her a wave. Luna waved back at them, a bittersweet smile on her lips. As she plummeted into the salty waves, Luna made a mental note.

This isn't forever. I swear, on my life, that I will see you all again.

Piper glimpsed at the teen, noting the tears that brimmed her eyes.

You will always be my sisters.
