This is a story I've had in my head for years. I use to play act it with small dolls and I decided to post it. I hope you all enjoy it. I will be referencing several fairytales throughout the story.
Prologue
Have you heard of Forgotten Kingdom? Well, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. It's been so many years since anyone has heard of it. In fact, legend as it that a veil of either magic or heavenly properties separated it from the rest of the world. This kingdom was said to be a paradise on Earth. There were dark times in this kingdom, but they never lasted too long. People were prosperous and its rulers were fair. Rumor as it that the royal family had magic blood coursing through their veins. Do you want to hear of when magic came into the royal family? Alright then. It actually begins with a poor, peasant widow named Willow.
I just finished planting the flowers on my family's graves. My husband's and my children's to be exact. It had been a sickness to take them. First my beloved, then my poor children. Why? Why am I suffering like this? I've lost everyone I love and not it's too late for me to marry again and have more children. I am doomed to die alone. I go about my day; making my meal, cleaning my cottage, doing the other small chores needing to be done. As I take down the clothes that were drying, a voice called behind me.
"Pardon me, dear maiden." I turned and saw an elderly man. He seemed to be struggling to walk.
"Are you all right?" I asked. He shook his head.
"I am very tired and very hungry." the man answered. I helped him inside. I quickly brought him a loaf of bread, an apple and a drink of water from the well. After he ate and drank his fill, he looked at me. "Thank you dear maiden. What can I do to repay you?" I looked at him somberly.
"Unless you can raise the dead, there's nothing you can do to repay me." I said, as tears started stinging my eyes. The man held out his hand. In it, is a flower seed.
"You have lost much in your life. This seed will help end your loneliness." the man said. He placed it in my hand before standing up. "If you only want one, take soil from the right or left side of your children's grave. If you want two, take soil from both sides. Then, make sure that the seed is exposed to both sunlight and moonlight." He walked out of my home, leaving me confused and stunned. After I shook of the shock I ran after him to give the seed back, but he was gone. I looked at the small flower seed in my palm and thought hard about what he said.
"What do I have to lose?" I wondered aloud. I picked out a flower pot. It was a small one my children had made for me. I went to my children's grave and took soil from both sides. I placed it in the flower pot, then the seed and finally I watered it. I placed it on a table near my window, right in the path of the bright sun. I decided to go into town to get fabric and seeds I would need. While in town, I heard the whispers of the townsfolk.
So sad
Losing a husband and both children
She's too old to remarry now
She'll die alone
I hurriedly purchased what I need and left. That's why I hated going into town. It was full of pitying looks and whispers. I made it back to my cottage by sunset. I put away the items I purchased and noticed the flower pot. A small stem had already started sprouting from the soil. Had could that seed be sprouting already? I shook the thought from my head and began to prepare my supper. Soon, it was nightfall. I looked out to the beautiful moonlit, starry sky. I remember when my husband and I would dance in our yard on nights like this and our children would chase the fireflies. Tears pricked my eyes as I thought of that memory. I put away my dishes and climbed into bed. I took one last look at the budding plant before falling asleep.
Next Morning
I woke to hear small noises. I sat up and saw that two blossoms had bloomed from the sprout. One blue and one pink. I went over to the pot and couldn't believe my eyes. There was, not one, but two small little children. A little boy and a little girl. They couldn't be much bigger than my palm. They both looked up at me and smiled.
"Hello Mama." the little girl said.
"Hello Mother." the little boys said. I held my hand down and they both climbed onto my hand. I brought them a little closer to me so I could see them better. The little boy had brown hair and green eyes. The little girl had red hair and blue eyes.
"Hello there little ones. It's so wonderful to meet you." I said, somewhat choking on my words.
"It's wonderful to meet you too." the little girl said.
"What are you're names?" I asked.
"Neither of us have a name yet." the little boy said. I thought for a minute. What could I name them? I then thought of the names of my children
"I think I know what to name you." I said. They both waited with anticipation for their names. I looked at the little boy. "I'll name you Adam."
"Adam." the little boy echoed. He then smiled. "Yes. I like that name. Thank you Mother." I then looked at the little girl.
"Your name shall be Eve." I said.
"Eve?" she asked. She repeated the name to herself several times before smiling. "Yes! That's my name. Thank you Mama." I lifted them closer to my face and gently kissed each of them on the foreheads. I had children again. I don't know who the man was, but I was thankful for him giving me that flower seed. I hoped that I could protect them better than I had my first children before.
Little did the widow know, that the children blooming from the flowers wasn't the only magic that was to be had. They themselves had magic in their blood. The destiny of her new children was greater than she could have imagined. However, it also involved the dangerous demon known simply as The Monster. Soon they would need to face this deadly creature and only then, could they embrace their true destiny. Now, let me tell you about the royal side of this story.
To all who are wondering when I'll update certain stories, I'm only going to updating/focusing on these stories: Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts, SVTFOE, TWDG, this one and possibly my BATIM stories. EVERYTHING ELSE IS ON HIATUS! I also might start a Danganronpa story, but I'll have to see. Also, work and writer's block are kicking my butt right now.
