Prologue
"Sometimes, ignorance can truly be bliss."
This often quoted line is primarily credited as being from Thomas Gray's poem "Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College", written in 1742. And as much as we may deny it, sometimes it is true.
Nezu, Pro Hero and UA Principal, once said that if not for the age of Quirks, humanity would vacationing amongst the stars. And indeed, once 90% of the planet gained superpowers, space-travel development was all but forgotten.
However, the people of this world would probably not let this happen if they knew a truth that would shake the very foundation of all humanity.
The stars had already come to Earth. In fact, for over 6000 years, beings from the stars and beyond had been living amongst the Quirked and Quirkless. In the earliest of those days, these beings ruled over earth before one of their own turned against them and began a rebellion.
These beings were known as 'Gems', humanoid and seemingly all female beings made up of their namesakes, each with an amazing power, nigh immortality and most uniquely, the ability to 'Fuse' with each other to become more powerful, or if the bond between the two Gems was strong enough, as a sign of love and understanding.
The rebel was the one to understand this second use of Fusion, although it would take another to get through the other Gems and end the war that most were ignorant of.
This is a tale of heroes. And not your standard summer Blockbuster action movie heroes, or grizzled hard boiled badasses. Not nessacarily your brilliants masterminds either, although they are each smart in their own ways.
As is often the case, this also is a tale of passing a torch onto a new generation. This is a tale of learning, growth and above all else; this is a tale of love in all of its forms and how, as cliché as it may sound or in spite of what the cynic in us may believe, it truly can do the amazing and impossible.

The initial torch bearer at the beginning of this tale is the one who completed what someone else started. In spite of his blood and the danger that surrounded him due to things out of his control, this man, a mere boy during most of this, did not use force to get things done...at least not all of the time. Instead, he spoke, learnt and acted accordingly in a manner that would ensure everyone would be happy. Was he mocked for this? Yes. Did he stumble? Yes. But he kept going on, pushed forward by his family, friends and those around him,
And in the end? He succeeded; helping reshape the world(s) he knew and ending a war almost no one else knew existed...Not even the Symbol of Peace, All Might.
After saving the world(s), the hero then saved himself and those around him, going on a journey to discover himself.
This man's name?
Steven Universe.

This is also the tale of another hero; one who was more...'streamline' than the torch bearer; ready to throw a punch to protect those who needed.
However, this hero was different than most they saw; while the heroes they watched saw Heroism as a job or wuick cash or popularity grab, this child only wanted to make everyone feel better, knock away all problems the people around them would feel and do such with a great smile on their face.
But they were cursed without a Quirk.
However...as a chance encounter with a torch-bearer would reveal, they had a power and destiny similar to that of said Torch-Bearer. And unlike other stories like this?
They were not alone. What was their name?
Izuku Midoriya, the future greatest hero of all time.

Fated meetings often do not seem that grand when they happen. But when they do happen, their effect is immedate,
It all started on a summer day when a tourist spotted some kids rough-housing...
To be Continued...
This story is a gift for The Incomparable Tim Curry, who helped me truly integrate into the fandoms that make up this story and who has been for me during some rough spots.
Something a little different than what I usually do but also similar; you can look forward to seeing Steven adopting a mentor-like position for several future hero students, a certain hero wannabe amongst them.
Suggestions are welcomed, but off the bat you can expect Cinnamon Rolls gaining friends and extended families, adventure, space travel, dancing and music (no lyrics due to FFN's rules) and much more!
Hope you like this little teaser and will give this fic and TITC some faves and likes!
Keep safe and warm!
