This type of story I've decided to undergo will be something that I haven't really written before. Even though I've implemented some romance into my previous fanfics, I've never really put it front and center. Obviously with this story, romance will be a big and necessary topic because that's what makes Quintessential Quintuplets. I will need yall's constructive criticism to help be with the romance department. Besides that this story will be different from the original story plot, it will be darker, more mature and have other topics that you might not necessarily see in quintessential quintuplets fanfics. Now that that's out of the way let the story begin! I hope you all enjoy it.

Chapter 1 : The Contract

"Hey kid. Wake up, it's almost time to head out to the main stage." A voice said into Fuutarou's ear, causing him to snap his eyes open which immediately scanned the area for any potential threats. After a couple more seconds of scanning the black haired man set his sights on the last person he wanted to see on his wedding day. Groaning as he got up from his chair, Fuutarou walked over to the coat rack where his black dress jacket was idly hanging. The man who had woken him watched in silence as he rubbed his face in annoyance.

"Last time I checked you weren't on the invitation list." Fuutarou began. The older man chuckled at that while taking a seat on the very chair Fuutarou had just been occupying.

"I don't blame you. Usually, it's uncommon for wedding couples to invite someone they hadn't seen or talk to for eight years." The man said as he pulled out two cigars. After lighting the two with a match, he handed one over to Fuutarou who gratefully took it to settle his nerves. "This is what the guy's usually do in a wedding. At least in America that is."

"I stopped smoking years ago." The groom replied before taking another puff from the cigar. The two men continued to smoke in a comfortable silence as they listened to the idle chatter from the guest in the other room beside them. Fuutarou eyed the older man from the corner of his eye, wondering to himself why on earth was he here? Last time he checked he had left that life behind him for good in order to start a new and better one. The man who still had the cigar in his mouth turned to Fuutarou who only continued to stare at him.

"I forgot how scary you can look, kid. If looks could kill I would've been dead years ago." The man chuckled before reluctantly putting out his own cigar. After making sure the tobacco piece was indeed put out he continued to speak. "But I suppose you're giving me that look because you're wondering to yourself why I'm here."

"Yeah I am. Not to sound rude but I was hoping that I would never have to see your face again. I made it very clear to everyone that I left that life behind me." Fuutarou said with a scowl adorning his face. The older man raised his hands in mock surrender as he spurted out some nonsense about how he agreed with Fuutarou's decision.

"While I completely agree with you, this wasn't up to me. You know how the higher ups are."

"I should've killed those bastards when I had the chance." Fuutarou scoffed as he angrily cracked his knuckles.

"I wish you did, kid. It would've made my life a hell of a lot easier." The older man darkly muttered as he reached into the pocket and pulled out an envelope. Fuutarou boring holes into the envelope that he knew was addressed to him, angrily snatched it from the man's hands.

"I suppose it's not a congratulations letter." He muttered causing the man to laugh loudly.

"If only! God, I wish it was that simple kid."

Tearing open the envelope with unsteady hands due to his anger, Fuutarou pulled out the contents which he then promptly read in silence. The man sitting down watched as the groom's facial expressions quickly turned to rage as he finished reading.

"Absolutly-Fucking-Not!" Fuutarou yelled as he threw the letter on to the ground. "I refuse! I did my part and now we're even. There's no need for me to go back!" He said more to himself as he angrily paced back and forth.

Like I said kid. This wasn't my decision but you know how the higher ups are if you refuse to do this. They'll come after your family and they'll kill them without hesitation."

"You think I don't know that!" Fuutarou snarled at the man who only continued to stare at him passively.

"Then what will you do kid? You'll be jeopardizing your family and all that you've accomplished up until this point. Are you sure you want to do that?"

Fuutarou clicked his tongue as he took another puff of his cigar. Taking a deep breath while laying his head back and watching the smoke float upwards, he thought back on what the old man just asked. His past, his accomplishments, his family, high school, the girls.

"Such simple times back then." He muttered with smoke coming out his mouth. What he would do to go back in time and relive meeting those girls again. Meeting them was what made his life change for the better.

"Want to talk about the old times?

"As a matter of fact yeah, I do."

"Heading out Uesugi?"

"Yeah, Nakano didn't need much help today and the meeting only lasted for thirty minutes. Have a nice night." Fuutarou replied as he exited the hospital that was now lit up with bright lights to combat the now night sky. The cool breeze softly hit his face as he began to walk down the street. As he continued to walk, he couldn't help but admire the brightly colored shops that littered every corner. Even though he has lived here in the city all his life, the sights and views will never cease to amaze him. Waiting at a crosswalk, Fuutarou pulled out his phone and looked at his emails and text messages.

Raiha- I got dinner ready! Are you coming home tonight?"

Fuutarou slightly grinned as he replied to his little sister's text before putting away his phone and walking across the street. He was glad he could come home at an early time tonight. He hadn't had that luxury in a long time and finally getting to eat with Raiha at the dinner table rather than coming home late where she was already fast asleep was a blessing.

"Mom! Can we get some candy?" A little kid in front of Fuutarou asked his mother who smiled down at him before entering the candy shop. Fuutarou watched the verbal exchange with a slight smile before he too entered the candy shop.

"Raiha deserves this with how much shit she has to put up with." He thought to himself as he picked out some of her favorite treats. He was happy to buy something for his sister, he felt like he hadn't bought her something in forever. Hopefully this will put a smile on her face which Fuutarou desperately needs to see to remind himself why he puts up with all the crap in his life. After buying the candy which really made a dent in his already non-existent wallet, he made his way to the outskirts of the city. Gone were the brightly colored shops and families walking throughout the streets. Now the only lights were the flickering lamp post which could go out at any minute and the only people that were on the streets were people who were looking to start some trouble.

Thankfully, Fuutarou arrived at his home without any trouble along the way. Fumbling with the door handle he made his way inside only to be greeted with a high pitched greeting.

"Brother!" His little sister yelled before running into his arms. "I missed you! I never really get to see you that much anymore with how late you work." Raiha said as she tightened her hug. Fuutarou grimaced at that reminder of him never coming home but he was thankful that his sister understood why he stayed out late.

"I'm sorry about that Raiha but to show my apologies I got you this!" He replied while showing her the bag of candy he got her. The little girl squealed with delight as she took the candy from his hands.

"Wow! You got all of my favorites. Thank you Fuutarou!" She smiled at him before giving him one last hug.

"No problem kiddo. Enjoy them." He replied.

"Well. Well. Well. Look who finally came home for once. It's the ugliest child of mine." An older man with blonde hair interrupted the siblings. He leaned against the wall with a beer in his hand but thankfully he hadn't had too many yet.

"Oh look Raiha. It's an old, deadbeat drunk." Fuutarou said dryly, causing the little girl to gasp before hitting her brother in the stomach.

"Don't say mean things about dad! He's sensitive." Raiha replied as she walked back into the kitchen to prepare a bowl of curry for all three of them.

"He's sensitive." Fuutarou mocked while giving a face to his father who replied by giving him the middle finger. Deciding to ignore his father, he made his way to the dinner table where he promptly sat down and awaited his meal. His stomach growled as it smelt the food coming from the kitchen. His body was craving food and he could understand why, he hadn't had any food besides a small snack today. You could blame that on the fact that he was too busy with school and work but the fact of the matter was he couldn't afford a meal.

"So how was your first day of high school?" Isanari asked while seating himself opposite of Fuutarou . The younger man shrugged his shoulders as he looked through his phone.

"School is school. Nothing much to it." He replied simply. Isanari rolled his eyes at the rather dull reply before leaning in closer to his son.

"And work?"

At the mention of work Fuutarou's eyes finally lifted from his phone. Making sure that Raiha wasn't listening in, he leaned in closer so that the two could talk more quietly.

"No leads as of yet. I asked my contacts if they knew anything but they were no use." Fuutarou replied, causing his father's hand to tighten into a fist. Before the two could converse anymore Raiha came back to the table with three plates of curry.

"Here you go. I could hear your stomach growling when you walked in so eat up!" Raiha laughed at him. The three said their thanks before quickly digging into the steamy, hot curry. The family ate in silence with the only sound coming from the clinging of their plates. Fuutarou had quickly gone back to the kitchen for seconds after finishing his first serving in a literal minute.

"Damn boy. Save some for me!" Isanari cried out to his son who immediately began to eat again.

"You can tell me that once you start doing the work I have to do. I practically have no time to eat." Fuutarou replied with a mouthful.

"Speaking of work. How was the hospital?" Raiha asked as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"Surprisingly slow. I didn't have to do much and there weren't any surgeries that needed my assistance today so that was nice. But I did have a meeting with Nakano today."

At the mention of his old high school buddy, Isanari promptly slammed down his now empty beer can. "Oh God. What did that sly, emo bastard want from you today?"

Fuutarou chuckled at the remarks his father made before replying. "He offered me a contract." At the mention of a contract, Isanari became concerned. He knew of the previous contracts his old friend had made with his son and to say he wasn't a fan of it would be an understatement.

"Oh that's good. He's offered you contracts before. Even though I don't know what you do for these contracts, you do get a bit of money in return right?" Raiha asked with a happy smile.

"Right." Fuutarou smiled back. "But surprisingly it wasn't the type of contract that I usually receive. It was a tutoring job. He wants me to help out his daughters with studying."

At the mention of studying, Isanari laughed loudly as he opened another beer. "That's perfect with your smart ass! How much does it pay?" He asked.

"Five times the usual rate but the thing is I have to tutor them until the end of high school so three years." Futaro replied.

At the mention of how much the job will pay Raiha got up from her seat and ran over to the picture of their mom, telling her that they could finally get rid of their debt. His father smiled at the sight before turning back to his son.

"You gonna take it?"

Fuutarou sighed while shrugging his shoulders. "You know how I feel about long term contracts. But it does pay a lot so I'm on the fence at the moment."

"Hey Raiha. Shithead and I are going to talk outside for a moment. Ok." Isanari called out while getting up from his seat.

"Ok! I'll start cleaning."

The two men walked out from the small apartment and out onto the street where they quietly stood for a moment. Isanari pulled out a carton of cigarettes before handing one over to Futaro.

"If Raiha saw this she'll kill both of us." Fuutarou muttered as he leaned over his father's lighter.

"Let's try not to let her see. Everytime she thinks I smoked she hits me with that big ass wooden spoon. That thing hurts like a bitch!" He replied while subconsciously rubbing his head that had been hit multiple times by his daughter. Fuutarou quietly chuckled as he blew out some smoke. His father did the same before speaking again. "So what else did that contract entail?"

"While Maruo does want me to tutor his daughters. Five of them I might add." Fuutarou tiredly sighed. "He also wants me to be their bodyguard of sorts. He wants me to protect them hence the long term contract."

"Hmmm. Why's that?" His father asked. Fuutarou took another lazy hit of his cigarette before speaking once more.

"Apparently the butler of the Nakano family was shot yesterday outside of the girl's apartment building. He's in critical condition at the hospital. I don't know if he'll make it. Luckily, the girls were already inside the building so they weren't hurt. Thankfully, they don't have the slightest clue that their butler was shot yesterday so they're still in the dark."

"Good. The less the girls know the better. Makes your job easier." His father said.

"But here's the kicker. Why was the butler shot and by whom? Was he the intended target or was it the girls." The younger man asked more to himself.

"Do you think the guys that shot the butler were the same ones that killed-"

"I don't know. I would like to believe that they're connected so that way it makes my life easier but we both know that'll be too convenient." Fuutarou interrupted while throwing his now spent cigarette. Isanari mimicked his son's actions before slapping him on the back.

"You'll figure it out. You're the best of the best in this business despite your young age. I have faith in you and you know that I'll help you out always."

The two men stayed outside for a while longer before deciding to head back in due to the chilly wind that was hitting against their bodies. Quickly closing the door, the father and son duo had the unfortunate luck of stumbling upon Raiha who was menacingly looking up at them, the infamous wooden spoon in hand.

Sniff Sniff "What exactly do I smell?" The young girl asked sweetly, causing the two older men to start sweating bullets.

"Now. Now. Raiha how about we just lay down the weapon, ok? This is all just a misunderstanding." Isanari whimpered as he slowly walked backwards until his back was up against the wall. Raiha slowly inched closer to the pair while slapping the spoon against her hand.

"Uhh, I'm going to take a shower." Fuutarou spoke up as he began to walk away but was quickly stopped by his little sister.

"And why do I smell it on you too?" Raiha sweetly asked with slitted eyes.

"Don't blame me. He was smoking right beside me so of course the smoke would get on my clothes. Thanks a lot old man." Fuutarou quickly came up with a lie causing his father to gasp out. Raiha narrowed her eyes some more while trying to discern whether her brother was telling the truth or not. After another minute of silent deliberating she grudgingly let Fuutarou go but the same couldn't be said for Isanari.

"Wait! Wait! Fuutarou you bastard! You absolute piece of- SMACK- OW OW! Raiha please stop! Please! I promise I'll never do it again! Please!"

Fuutarou silently laughed to himself as he made his way to the shower. It was good to be home for once.

"My God, my feet are sore!"

"How? You're the most athletic out of all of us."

"No, Yotsuba is right. My feet are sore too. Why did they make us tour the entire campus instead of just our classes!?

"All of you quit your whining! I'm going to get dinner started."

The five sisters noisily conversed as they made their way into their apartment. Immediately all of them except one landed on the couch to get some much needed rest after touring their new school for the entire day.

"What do you all want for dinner?" The second elder sister Nino asked. All she got in replies were mumbled phrases of "Whatever, I don't care." Nino scoffed at the lack of answers and instead looked around for whatever ingredients caught her eye first.

"So...What did you think of the new school?" The eldest sister Ichika asked her sisters who laid on the couch beside her. Yotsuba was the first to answer as she kicked her legs out in front of her.

"It's bigger than Black Rose so that's cool!"

"Of course it would be. Although Black Rose is a private institution, public schools are often much bigger due to a bigger populace." Itsuki replied matter of factly. The sisters nodded their heads in agreement. Ichika, being the sly girl she is, crawled over to Itsuki and pinched her cheeks.

"Are you nervous about going to school tomorrow? After all, boys are going to be in our classes now." She teased causing the younger sister to let out a nervous eep!

"I'll have you know that I am not nervous about the prospect of meeting boys tomorrow." Itsuki replied, crossing her arms and turning her head so that her sisters couldn't see the light blush now adorning her cheeks.

"Suuure." Ichika, not believing a word said as she sat back down on her seat.

"I'm excited for tomorrow!" Yotsuba yelled out in excitement. "We get to meet new people and make new friends!" The other girls shook their heads in amusement as they watched their overhyped sister jump and down.

"Sure but then again it is school. That's the downside." Miku sighed. She was one who was the least excited about going to a new school tomorrow. After her experiences at Black Rose she would much rather stay at home and do online school, locked away in her room and shut off from the outside world. The four sisters continued their conversation as they awaited Nino's dinner for some time until they were interrupted by a pan being dropped.

CLANK

"EHHH!" The sister's heard Nino cry out.

"What is it, Nino? Everything ok?" Ichika called out while craning her head to get a better look at her younger sister. Nino didn't hear her sister's question and instead continued to look at her phone with a look of disbelief. By now all the sisters could see that something was troubling Nino and walked over to her to see what the problem was.

"Check your fucking texts from dad." Nino horrifically whispered as she noticed her sisters peering over her shoulder to see what she was looking at on her phone. The remaining sisters did as they were told as they pulled out their own cell phones and began to look at their dad's message that he had sent to everyone. One by one all their faces turned to disbelief and horror as they continued to read the contents of the text message.

"Aww c'mon!" Ituski was the first one to let out her thoughts. Her cry soon snapped the other quints out of their trance and they began to let out their frustration.

"Why do we need a tutor?" Yotsuba innocently asked. It seemed she was the least agitated about the text their father had sent.

"Oh jeez. This might interfere with my work." Ichika sighed as she rubbed her forehead. Why did their father think it was necessary to get them a tutor when the school year had just started. What was even the point? It's not like there's any material to even start off with. Miku continued to stay silent as she reread the message. However, internally she was less than thrilled. She didn't want some old, snobby guy who graduated from a university to tutor them for three years straight. What there dad was doing to them was basically toture in her eyes. Nino seemed to the worst of them all, opting to immediately text their dad back. The quints watched as Nino furiously typed on her phone, her fingers a blur to their eyes.

"Ain't no way in hell am I having some random come into our house and teach us for three fucking years! Ain't no way!" She growled as she finished her text. Expecting that her father wouldn't answer her text until later or maybe not even at all due to how busy he is, Nino pocketed her phone but was surprised to hear it ding in less than a minute. The sister's eyes widened in surprise that their dad would respond in such a timely manner. That was very unlike him.

"Is it him?" Ichika asked, hoping that dad would listen to Nino's pleas. The second eldest sister took at her phone and read the message from their father only to furiously put it back away.

"He said it was non-negotiable. We're stuck with a tutor." She growled out causing the quint to collectively groan. Great, just great. Looks like their father was as stone cold as ever towards his daughters.

"Well? It could be worse." Yotsuba ever so optimistic said with a sheepish smile. The rest of the sisters looked over at her with dry looks.

"It's as bad as it can be, Yotsuba. Now we gotta deal with some random, old man who is probably a pervert. I bet our tutor immediately accepted the job after he heard who he would be tutoring. Five beautiful, teenage sisters who happen to be quintuplets." Ichika responded to her sister as she went to the fridge to get a bottle of water. She needed to cool down after hearing what their father had done to them. It couldn't possibly be worse timing than this with how busy work has been lately.

"It doesn't make sense though!" Itsuki wailed her arms. "The school has just started." The quints nodded their heads in agreement. Why did their father get them a tutor so early into the school year? Was it because he thought they would need one so early to keep up with school work? Or something else entirely?

"Well there's no use in crying about it now. Father won't change his mind and there's no nothing we can do to convince him. Let's just have a relaxing dinner and get ready for school tomorrow." Ichika taking the lead as the eldest said.

"Speaking of dinner. What are we having, Nino?" Itsuki asked eagerly. Nino, still lost in thought, didn't hear the question directed at her. "Nino?"

"Huh?" Nino asked as her train of thought was broken. She looked over at the youngest of the quints who was practically drooling from the mouth at the prospect of food. "Dinner? Oh we're having...OH MY GOD I forgot about the food!" Nino cried out as she ran over to the oven. She opened the oven only to be blasted back from intense heat and smoke. "Dammit! Goddamnit!" Nino yelled profusely as she pulled out a now burnt to a crisp chicken dinner. The girls, Itsuki especially, pouted at the burnt food. This day couldn't get any worse.

"Looks like we're having takeout."

It was early in the morning the next day after Fuutarou received a brand new contract from his frequent employer, Nakano Maruo. He still didn't know what to make of this new job of his but it did pay good so he wasn't complaining too much. And maybe the killing of the Nakano's butler could give him some new leads that he so desperately needed. Shaking his head to rid himself of such thoughts that shouldn't be there this early in the morning, the black haired teen instead focused on his jog. Everyday since he was a child, Fuutarou would leave his apartment early in the morning and jog through the city until it was time to go to school.

The main reason he did this was because he needed to stay in shape for his job that demanded such things. However, he also ran early in the morning because it was peaceful to see the city early in the morning. The sun was just peaking over the horizon but you could still see the stars overhead. The streets were dead which you would never see unless you were up at a time like this and the only people who were up so early were shopkeepers getting their business ready for the day. Futtarou waved at one of the business owners who smiled at him in greeting. He had been running for over two hours now and it was almost an hour until school demanded his presence. Deciding that he couldn't be late on his second day of high school, Fuutarou began to make his way back to his apartment to freshen up before he made his way to school.

"Good morning, Fuutarou!" Raiha called out to him from the kitchen as he opened the entrance door. He smiled down at her as he patted her head.

"Morning. You cooking breakfast?" He asked, causing her to nod.

"Yup, go get a shower before it's ready. You reek like a pig after sunbathing in filth."

"Have you even seen a pig before?" He chuckled at her comment. Raiha turned to him with a teasing look in her eye.

"Have you?"

"Of course I have. My job has brought me to many different countries so of course I was bound to see a pig at some point. Trust me they stink but I don't think I smell quite like one yet."

Fuutarou replied, patting her head before making his way to the shower like his sister requested. Closing the door, the black haired teen took off his clothes as he turned on the water, making sure to keep it cold to cool off his body after such a run through the city. Brushing his teeth before hopping into the shower, he idly stared at his body that reflected in the mirror. He grimaced at all the scars that littered his torso as if just looking at them brough pain. His vision locked onto one particular scar above his ribs that brought back painful memories.

"Run Fuutarou!"

"No! I can protect you!"

"Leave! Hurry before it's too late!"

Taking a sharp intake of air and shaking his head to rid himself of those memories, he quickly stepped into the shower, letting the cold water run down his skin. At times like this where he had nothing else to do, his mind usually went crazy bringing up old memories he'd much rather forget. That's why he kept himself busy with his work and studies, to forget.

"Breakfast is ready, bro! Hurry before dad eats everything." Raiha called out to him behind the door. Quickly finishing his shower, Fuutarou dried off and put on his school uniform before heading to the table where a plate was already waiting for him.

"Morning." Isanari said to him with a mouth full of food.

"Close your mouth when you chew, old man. Unless you want Raiha to hit you with that spoon." The black haired teenager responded, causing the older, blonde man to glare at him.

"I wont ever forgive you for ratting me out to her last night." He replied. Fuutarou slyly smirked at his father as he ate a piece of bread. Instead of picking an unnecessary fight he instead turned his attention to Raiha who was innocently eating quietly.

"Do you need me to take you to school today, Raiha?" He asked.

"No thanks. Dad is taking me before he heads off to work." She replied while Isanari looked over at the clock on the wall.

"Oh shit! We better go Raiha before I'm late." He said hurriedly as he ran over to grab his keys. The little girl nodded as she finished the last of her food and grabbed her backpack.

"Be careful. Make sure Raiha doesn't fall off that damn motorcycle of yours." He called out to Isanari who only shouted in reassurance before running out the door with Raiha in tow. Deciding that he too should start heading out, he finished cleaning the dishes and made sure all the windows and doors were locked before making his way to school.

"Today's the day huh." He thought to himself as he continued to walk. Today was the day when he would officially start his new job Nakano had contracted him for. He silently laughed at the prospect of tutoring not one but five sisters who just so happen to be quintuplets. Needless to say he was less than thrilled but he needed to do this if he wanted his family to be debt free. "Just think of Raiha. That's more than enough motivation to do this contract." Fuutarou told himself as the school began to come into view. He sighed dryly as he watched other high schoolers run throughout the campus, greeting other friends happily and talking about God knows what. Really, he didn't have the slightest clue on what other high schoolers talked about while intermediating in between classes. This was mostly due to him not having any friends in or out of school.

He wasn't sad at the fact of having no friends, in fact he was quite happy about it. If someone who could somehow listen in on his thoughts heard him, they would call him edgy for saying he was happy that he didn't have any friends but that was just how he felt. His line of work didn't involve friends as they would only get in his way and he was determined to keep it that way. You could never be too careful when it comes to other people because sooner or later they will betray you and put a gun against your head when you least suspect it.

Plopping down on his seat with a heavy sigh, Fuutarou decided that his best course of action was to sleep until the lunch bell ranged. There wasn't going to be much material to learn today and besides if there was, he already knew it. So with that he closed his and cut himself off from the outside world as he drifted off into a dreamless sleep. It must've been two hours before he finally awoken from his slumber as he groggily rubbed the sleep out of his eye and looked over at the clock.

"Just in time." He thought as the bell ranged signaling lunch time for the students. Yawning once more before walking out of the classroom towards the cafeteria, he checked his phone for any emails or information regarding the way Fuutarou acted unaware of the other students who not so subtly talked behind his back.

"All he did was sleep in class."A girl presumably from his class whispered to her friends. He rolled his eyes as he heard the pack of girls giggled at him. He continued walking, acting as if he couldn't hear the girls. Instead of stopping, the girls continued their banter, laughing louder and louder as time passed on. Having enough of the annoyance, Fuutarou spoke up to the girls without turning his back.

"If you're going to talk to someone behind their back make sure you're not within earshot." He said to the now petrified girls. He smirked to himself as he heard the girls quickly walk off, muttering words like "Loser" and "Delinquent" at him. Finally arriving at the noisy cafeteria, Fuutarou got in line and waited to order his food. Looking on his phone to avoid any unnecessary interaction, he felt as if a pair of eyes were on him. Craning his head for a moment to see if anyone was looking at him but finding nothing he opted to continue browsing through his phone until it was his turn to order his food.

"Barbecue set without the barbecue please."

"Here you go!" The lunch lady said, handing him over probably the cheapest looking meal ever created. Thanking the women before heading over to the usual table at the darkest corner of the cafeteria, he opted to ignore the whispers directed at him.

"What the fuck did he order?" Fuutarou heard someone laugh loudly as they spotted his meal. Subtly smirking to himself as he continued towards his destination, he couldn't help but remember when he discovered this loophole that was the barbecue set without the barbecue. You see a regular barbecue set costs four-hundred yen but if you order the set without the barbecue you could also get the soup and fruit for the same price! It was an absolute steal that his cheap ass couldn't pass up. And you couldn't forget the school canteen that offers all you can drink. Taking a sip of his water, Fuutarou almost didn't see the two guys running full steam ahead at him. With quick and agile reflexes, he swifty spun around the charging bulls causing one to hit his foot and crashing to the ground with a loud THUD.

"Hey! Watch where you're going you damn idiot!" The boy that had fallen said, getting up in Fuutarou's face. Fuutarou calmly took another sip of water while staring at the guy with a blank look.

"I think that sentence applies to you more, no?" Fuutarou replied while noticing that practically the whole cafeteria was watching the scene unfold. The boy that had fallen balled up his fist and looked on the verge of punching Fuuatrou who was still calmly sipping his water.

"Just leave it, bro." The other boy said, grabbing his shoulders and basically dragging him away before anything else could escalate. Fuutarou turned away and made his way to his table while ignoring the stares from other students along the way.

"Glad that didn't turn into a fight. I didn't want someone else's blood on my new uniform." He thought to himself as he put his trey down on the table. As he was about to sit down and eat his food, another trey appeared out of nowhere, plopping right down beside his own trey. "Oh boy, here we go again." Fuutarou thought to himself, expecting to see the boy from earlier wanting to cause trouble again. Preparing himself to tell the guy off, he didn't expect to hear a shy, timid girl's voice call out to him.

"U-Um... May I sit here please."

End of Chapter 1 : The Contract
