NOTES: Written for the Women of SVU Week. Prompt: First Kiss. Part of my Cabenson High School AU . Can be read as a stand-alone but if you're followng this series this happens a week and a half after "Side Salad".

Their first kiss did not happen on their first date. Even though they had fun at the restaurant after the whole side salad fiasco neither Olivia or Alex had the courage to get that far. So they went out, they held hands and hugged goodbye. Then they started calling each other every night even if they saw each other every day of the week during school. After a week and a half - and after three friends and one random person asking if they were indeed girlfriends Alex thought it was her turn to take the next step.

They had been in the library after class, another new routine for them. Alex liked to study there. There was so much prep necessary for the many extra activities she was in and it was a great excuse to spend more time with the brunette. Olivia didn't even pretend to study most of the time. That particular day she was sitting next to Alex, stroking a piece of the blonde hair while staring at the old librarian, Mrs. Dobbins. They hated each other with a passion. The old woman was always trying to find reasons to get Olivia out of the library and Olivia was always giving her reasons. They were now in the middle of a stare off so Olivia actually jumped at the sound of Alex's voice - even though the blonde was whispering.

"Elliot stopped me in the middle of the corridor today"

"Cabot! Don't scare me like that" Olivia had finally turned her head into Alex's direction.

"I'm whispering. You're the one too distracted by Mrs. Dobbins. Let the old lady be, Liv."

"She's a witch, Alexandra. You don't want to believe me, that's fine but don't come to me crying when she hexs you."

Olivia turned back to stare at Mrs. Dobbins but the librarian had already found something else to do.

"When did I ever come to you crying…? Nevermind. Look, your friend Elliot stopped me on the way to Algebra today."

"What do you mean my friend Elliot? He's your friend too."

"No. He' s your friend. For whatever reason. I only talk to him because you're always with him. That 's all."

"Ok. So you're jealous of Elliot and . What, I can't have friends now?"

"Well, Mrs. Dobbins hates you and she's definitely not your friend. Elliot is a senior with anger management problems. I'm not jealous of him. Mostly I'm curious as to why you're friends with a 17 year old football player."

"I've told you. We met a long time ago at some church camp thing my mom made me go when she became christian for a month. He's cool."

"Whatever. He stopped me on the way to my class today and almost made me late."

"Wow, that's a crime! Call the police, Alex. Fast."

"You're funny today, Olivia. Well, your cool friend wanted to make sure I wasn't going to hurt you and I'm pretty sure he threatened me at some point."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Apparently he heard that we're dating. He said and I quote: I hear you ever hurt Liv and I'll have to do something about it, Cabot. Like I was actually going to be scared of Stabler, that pretentious brat. It took a lot of me not to punch him right there. I didn't because I know you like him. You can thank me later."

Olivia had turned a very bright shade of pink.

"I'm going to kill him. Pretentious brat….He thinks he can act like he's my father or something? I'm going to kill him."

"So, are we?" Alex had only started this conversation to ask this one question. One and a half week plus Elliot's threat was way too much. She had lost the little patience she had.

"Are we what?"

Sometimes Olivia's cluelessness was cute. Sometimes it just made Alex a bit frustrated.

"Dating"

"Oh"

Alex kept staring at Olivia. Oh was not the answer the blonde was looking for. Fortunately, Alex was not one to get easily discouraged.

"I like you. I'm pretty sure you like me. We went out on a date. We call each other every night. We hold hands during lunch. You've been holding a piece of my hair for the past hour. Can we make it official?"

Olivia had a shocked look on her face. She looked at the hand that still held a strand of blonde hair like she was just then realizing what she had been doing. Olivia might have a quick answer to anyone but when it came to Alex the brunette was too often speechless.

"I…humn.. I like you, Alex".

Alexandra exhaled. She wanted to laugh but she thought that would be insensitive. Trying to sound patient she continued, "Yes, Liv. We have established that. Let me try to make it easier for you. Olivia, do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"Yes." The answer was so quick that Alex couldn't help but laugh a little. Olivia had not screamed - not at all but they had been whispering the entire conversation so far and Olivia's yes had not been a whisper. At all. Many heads turned into their direction. Mrs. Dobbin 's included.

"Shhhhh!" The librarian gave Olivia a very sour look.

Olivia's face broke into a grin ignoring the old Mrs. Dobbins.

"Yes, I want to be your girlfriend!"

"Ok, shh. Mrs. Dobbin will come hex you if you keep speaking this loudly." Alex was also grinning.

"We're dating!" Olivia whispered excited.

"We are. And I'll need you to have a little chat with your best friend Stabler cause if he stops me again on the way to my classes I will have to punch him."

"You can. Punch him, I mean. You have my blessing."

"Good."

"I still can't believe I'm dating Alex Cabot!"

"Miss Benson, do I need to make you leave again?" Mrs. Dobbins was standing close to their table all of sudden looking down straight into Olivia's eyes.

"Sorry, Mrs. Dobbins. You know, sometimes I get a little over excited when I'm talking to my girlfriend.

It was a mystery to Alex how Olivia could be so shy and clueless with her but be so bold when confronted with any kind of authority.

Mrs. Dobbins was not ready to take the bait and just rolled her eyes.

"Alexandra, I'd hate to make you leave but don't think I wouldn't do it. Behave you two. This is a library." Turning on her heels, the old librarian went back to her desk.

"She would hate to throw the teachers' pet out" Olivia teased affectionately.

"Shut up, stop teasing your girlfriend" Alex was trying to sound mad but couldn't help but laugh.

"Come on, let's get out of here. I'm tired of whispering."

"I still have to finish this thing for model UN…"

"You're smart, I'm sure you'll do great even if you make something up on the spot."

"It doesn't work like that, Olivia. You wouldn't know, you only have soccer as extra curricular. You should really think about…"

"Yeah, yeah I know. We can talk about it later, ok? Come on!"

Alex let herself be guided by Olivia's excitement and started putting her things away.

"You know what? " Olivia began looking rather maliciously to Alex, "There's still one thing left to do in order for us to be official."

Alex squinted her eyes. She didn't like how Olivia kept looking from her to Mrs. Dobbins desk.

"Olivia, what are you talking about?"

"We haven't… you know?" Olivia lowered her voice even more before continuing, "kissed yet."

"Ok… why are you talking about this in the middle of the library?"

"Cause this is the perfect place! We spend so much time here."

"Olivia…"

Before Alex could tell her about how terrible this idea was Olivia had taken her chemistry book out of her beat-up backpack at an incredible speed. Looking behind her to see Mrs. Dobbins was very much not paying attention to them Olivia gave Alex a mischievous grin before letting the book drop into the ground with all her strength. The noise echoed through the library and Olivia did not have to look to know that it had gotten Mrs. Dobbin's attention. Taking Alex's hands into hers Olivia pulled the blonde close to her and gave her a quick kiss. It was more like a peck and they'd later have long discussions to determine if that was actually their first kiss or not. Before they could pull apart they heard screams.

"Out! Now! Both of you! I don't want to see your faces here for a week!"

They left the library running and laughing. Alex would later pretend to have hated it and managed to apologize to Mrs. Dobbins. She got herself a free pass to the library in less than two days. Olivia didn't care much about going back to the library so soon but kept telling everyone who would listen how she had kissed Alex Cabot in front of the old witch from the library.

"In a way she's like a fairy godmother to you, Olivia." Elliot had said when she told him about her recent adventure.

"More like a hag godmother but yes, she gave me luck. I can't deny it."

"So you and Cabot, huh? She better treat you right."

"Oh, yeah. About that. She told me about your little talk the other day. Just so you know, I gave her a free pass to knock you down the next time you say shit like that to her."

Throwing his hands in the air Elliot said, "Hey, I'm just protecting my friend"

"Do I look like I need protection, Stabler? Anyway, if she doesn't knock you down I will."

"Ok, ok! I'm happy for you, you know, Liv? You look happy I could get used to seeing you like this"

"I know...me too."
