Hey guys, it is me. Has been a while huh? And oh, what is this? An actual chapter instead of an update post? What a wonderful time! All kidding aside, welcome to the first chapter of the rewrite of BloodDevil. Has took me a while to get this going as I needed to plan the Fallen Angel Arc and getting the OC encounter the main cast without it being forced or rushed. For the first few chapters, it will take a bit before the OC has a proper meet up with the cast. Mainly to build the character up before he goes in deep with the main plot.

Now obviously, he will not be alone during those few chapters because…you guys know about my favorite character/waifu. In any case, let us begin.

The Hunter's Dream

…How long has it been since the defeat of the Moon Presence and the ascension to a Great One? Months? Years? Eons even? The hunter cannot really recall how long has it been. Is this how godlike beings feel like when it comes to time? That time is non-existent to them? Well in any case…he feels like this is his own personal realm of heaven. After dealing with the immense amount of carnage, bloodshed, horror, mystery, and the many deaths experienced fighting through the streets of Yharnam and the chaotic realm of Nightmares, he feels like he has earned this rest.

Plus, being taken care for by the Living Doll is a bonus. Kind of…feel like he is reliving his childhood at the time.

Regardless, there is one subject manner to think of now…what to do right now. There is…nothing waiting for him back at Yharnam. The last time he remembered the city was when it was under complete chaos under the effects of the Blood Moon. He does not know if everyone survived, or even have their sanity. Not to mention that despite assuming this role as the new Moon Presence, has there truly been a stop of the Beast Plague? Or…is it just a delay of the inevitable? Either way…Yharnam is no longer a home he can return to. A sad, but necessary, reality after making it his goal to end the previous Moon Presence's rule and free Gherman from his chains linking him to this realm.

So, he thought…thought long and hard. Could have been three years passed by as he thinks to himself. His body, if you can really call it that, was just a floating squid for the moment. Perks of being a Great One is that you can change your form…and right now, just being a floating squid is enough. Anyway, he looks at all the gravestones, the flowers, the deep fog pass the fences around the small area…and to the skies above. He wonders…what if there is another world? Another dimension he can venture into and try of another life? It does beats staying in this dimension as an all powerful being and having nothing to do.

Floating over to one of the empty gravestones, and glancing behind him to the sleeping Living Doll, the hunter focuses to make…anything appeared. The portal did not appear instantly. It took time…a lot of time for his mind to make up something that can link it to the new world he could explored. After what felt like months…he felt a connection. A connection between the Hunter's Dream and the new world. And viola, a portal was formed.

Now is just the debate of venturing into this new world as a squid or…as a new form? He thought about it before diving into the portal when his body started to turn white. Can say that his anticipation to explore the world made him too eager to figure out what form he should have. Which in turn…can lead to some drastic setbacks.

But that is neither here nor there now. Right now, the hunter threw himself into the portal and his vision went entirely white before darkness settles…

Isolated location within the lower area of Kuoh, Nightfall

Wet. That was the first thing the hunter felt after some time has passed jumping into the portal. Slowly, does he awaken and feels dozens of water drops attacking his entire backside of his body. He slowly pushes himself up and…notices a puddle that shows him his new form. "Ah!"

Well, thankfully his new form looks human at the very least. His eyes were amber with small pupils, and his hair ashen grey as it is another hair color usually seen in Yharnam. A…nice little detail that reminds of his home. His face was young, with a refined jaw structure. His eyes though…they show years of experience and maturity, especially after the experience in Yharnam.

As the hunter slowly stands up to his feet, he notices his clothing also came from Yharnam origins. Nice to know he still thinks of home as he notices the Hunter's hat and mask that he never takes off during the hunt. Grabbing the hat and mask to put them on, the hunter checks one last thing…weaponry. He looks around and notices he does not have his pistol, Evelynn, but…he does have the Chikage. Seems to be the only weapon he has on him…least he is not totally defenseless.

Regardless, it is about time he gets a move on. Would seem he is in a…residential district? Does looks to be an abandoned part of time with all the ruined, rusty, and deserted feeling of the area. The hunter moves through the buildings, intending to find somewhere to take refuge from the rain as he does not want his clothing to be completely soaked.

Otherwise, sleeping in a wet outfit could give him a cold…

He eventually took refuge in an abandoned factory, though quickly looked around for any hostiles. Okay sure, usually when it comes to things being abandoned means that no one should be around…but considering there was a lot of abandoned place ins Yharnam that has beasts roaming inside? The hunter is not taking any chances.

And it would seem he felt it was the right call to stay on guard…because he smelled it. The scent of blood in the air. It did surprise him he can detect this scent since he is sure he is human…right? Regardless, he took cover behind boxes and move slowly towards the source of the scent. What he found…is a scene he has always seen in Yharnam.

Carnage and blood. Piles of bodies that looked to be bisected, eaten, and crushed by something. It does not help there is now the sound of chewing and munching as it would seem whatever made this pile is having a feast. The hunter looks around the corner to see a demonic looking entity. This beast…or hybrid has an upper body of a shirtless man with black hair down to his lower back. His lower body…is that of a scorpion without the pincers (thankfully). Only have the legs and the stinger of a scorpion, which is still deadly in of itself. As the hunter look closer, the demonic entity brings up a corpse of a man's head to chomp down with his unnatural large jaw with razor-sharp teeth.

The hunter has never encountered something like this before…but since it has a human-like upper body, then perhaps cutting off the head will bring it down. Slowly does the hunter sneak up to the beast, seeing that is too tall for him to slash at its neck from where he is now…but a surprise attack at cutting off a leg could give the hunter the advantage!

SLASH

"GOOOAAAAHH!" The man-beast roars in pain as one of his legs was cut off by the hunter's Chikage, dropping its food onto the pile and whip his head around to glare at his attacker. "YOU DARE?! I WILL FEAST ON YOUR SOUL!" He growls as he attempts to skewer the hunter with its stinger. The hunter was able to quick-step to his right to avoid the attack, a bit shocked that the man-beast can talk. Almost all the monsters that the hunter fought never speaks. Ah, what is he thinking? Even if it can talk, there is no reason trying to communicate with it. The man-beast wants flesh and the piles behind him is proof of that.

Shaking his head, the hunter zigzag towards the demon, evading the stinger strikes as he slashes at another leg. The demon will try to bat him away with his stinger, which he was able to connect and knock the hunter right onto some boxes. "Gah!" The hunter grunts in pain as he gets out of the wreckage, just in time to evade another stinger strike from the demon.

Well, it looks like the demon as notices what the hunter is trying to do and is now defending its legs. The demon face towards him, stinger above his head and his lower body near the corpse pile behind him. A change of tactics is going to be needed as the hunter looks around the area. It was then he saw a steel beam to his far right and thought…maybe he could get the stringer to be stuck? Was worth the shot.

Running towards the beam, the hunter does his best to evade the stinger strikes, taking some nicks and scratches from the tip of the stinger and feeling the burn of the poison within. Need to do this plan fast before the poison severely hinder his body's movement! Just at a nick of time as he stops in front of the steel beam and gesture the demon to attack him.

"DO NOT MOCK ME! DIE!" The demon thrusts his stinger forward, in which the hunter pushed himself down onto the floor to have the stinger barely hit over him and nail itself into the steel beam. "WHAT?!" He tried to remove his stringer, which was the hunter's chance for a direct attack.

Like death carried by the wind, the hunter runs over to the demon as he tries to bring his hands up to defend himself. It was for naught as the hunter cut through the demon's hands and then his neck, decapitating him. The hunter winces from the burn of the poison, but he looks back just to make sure that the demon is dead.

It was not moving.

With another sign, the hunter sheaths his weapon and plan to move out. Sleeping in a monster's den does not sit well with him. It was then he…hears something in the distance. A bit away from the corpse pile as it sounds like…a little girl crying? Harsh memories of another girl flow through his mind as he runs over to where the little girl. She was behind some boxes as the hunter moves them, holding onto her stuffed animal tightly as she looks like the hunter in fear. The sight hurt him…and looking back at the corpse pile…it does not take him long enough to think her parents are a part of that pile.

"It's okay…I'm not going to hurt you. The big bad man is gone now." He says in a soothing voice to convince the child he is no threat. Obviously, the little girl was still scared of him, but she slowly reaches her right hand forward as a test of trust to the stranger. The hunter gently takes her hand and then picks her up, moving in a way so she does not see the corpse pile and the dead demon. No need for her to be suffering more PTSD as he is right now.

It was still raining when he ran out of the factory and move deeper into the abandoned residential district. He has a goal now…get this girl to safety as quickly as possible. He failed once…he will not fail again. His right slowly pats the girl's back to reassure her that everything will be okay. That nothing bad will happen to either of them. He just keeps running, panting but determined to see this through. Could feel himself running faster and faster until he reached a clearing. Looking around, he was then noticed by a couple of pedestrians who run towards the hunter after seeing him carrying a little girl in his arms.

By instinct, the hunter was on guard by the running couple, thinking they are like the insane people in Yharnam. But when they asked "Hey, are you okay?! Do you need assistance?", he lets out a sigh of relief. Though there is one problem…whatever they said, he could not understand them. It…sounded like a whole different language. This…might be a problem. The hunter tilts his head to the right as the couple raised an eyebrow at him.

"Do you think he cannot understand us?"

"Maybe. Look at his clothing. He might be a foreigner."

The couple pondered before gesturing the hunter to follow them. Best to use actions instead of words to guide the foreigner to safety. With a nod, the hunter follows the couple while glancing over to the girl. She is asleep now…which is a relief on his end. He has no idea what the girl went through being trapped in that accursed building.

They eventually reached to a building with several cars around with the colors of blue and white. The hunter looks at the vehicle with amazement…never seen this kind of technology back at Yharnam. A bit of excitement swell in his heart as he is curious what other advanced technology this world has in store for him. As he was guided into the building with several people in uniforms walking, talking, and doing things behind some monitors, the hunter just feels…safe. Safe for once.

He was in a building with people that have sane minds. Minds not being disrupted or destroyed by the Old Gods or the Old Blood. Just…how long has it been since he felt like this?

A woman who seems to be a highly ranked officer approached him and the group. The couple talked to the officer first, no doubt explaining what they found since the hunter still cannot understand what they are saying. Hmm…might be a good idea to start studying the language of this world soon. After some time, the officer approaches the hunter with a small smile and gesture to the little girl. He felt…conflicted for a moment there. Immediately thinking they might do something terrible to the little girl…but this is not Yharnam. This is a new world. Even though there seems to be deadly creatures…at least there seems to be no beast plague.

Slowly does the hunter give the officer the young girl, which the officer bows her head to him and then takes the young girl into a room. He could see some of the people looking him with happy expressions and…words of congratulations? Seems like it, but the hunter shook his head and moved out of the building before anyone can stop him.

This was for no reward. It was to redeem himself from a failure long ago.

As he once again walks down the street under the rainy sky, he looks over to his right and stares at a poster board. It was a picture of a red moon over a city. Two words that he could read: "Akai Tsuki".

"Akai…Tsuki." He said those two words. He remembers himself as once Edwin Huro…but that was another lifetime. A time he was a hunter in Yharnam. When he defeated the Moon Presence and ascended, he felt like his old life has ended there. But maybe…here can be the beginning of a new life. And a new life starts with a name.

"Akai Tsuki…kind of like that." He looks over to the poster one more time before walking ahead, not noticing a black two-tailed cat with amber eyes that has been following him from the shadows ever since he rushed out of the factory. The cat stares at Akai for some time before continuing to follow him. As they say about curiosity and cats…

To be continued…

And that is that. We are now in the very first chapter of the rewrite of BloodDevil. Decided to keep the old name, but have it been like Akai got his name after basically being "reborn" into a new world. Also, do not think it will be the last time he will see that little girl. Maybe she might make another appearance in the future? Who knows…?

Regardless, we got quite the journey ahead of this. This first chapter was just the prologue of Akai coming to the DxD world, encountering one of its Stray Devils and…noticing he is in a world not consumed by the beast plague. So, taking a bit of my time here before tossing him into the main story.

Should I have him and Kuroka interact with each other before the main story? Perhaps, sounds like a neat idea (due to my undying love for the woman).

In any case, that will be all for now. Ja Ne!
