Many, many, years ago, the four nations lived at harmony, and peace. The earth kingdom and it's lively strength, the air nation with little care and worry in the world, and the water tribes with their fluidity and flow. But one day, the fire nation attacked the Air Nomads, and caused disruption and chaos amongst all the nations.
Only the avatar, bender of all 4 elements, could restore peace and harmony. However, when the world needed him the most... he vanished.
One hundred years later however he returned, and fought back the oppressive fire nation and won the battle against the Fire Lord. With the avatar's assured victory, harmony and peace was well on it's way again.
There is one tale no has dared to tell however. The tale of an ancient evil, and how they clashed with the avatar for a short period of time. Due to their defeat however, this tale has been buried and forgotten by all but a few. One of them being, former ruler of the fire nation. As new events unfold, this old tale, will come back to the light.
It's a cold night in the southern watertribe, and a ship could be seen sailing across the chilling cold ocean. These people however were not expecting anything but a normal fishing route, until they came across something highly unusual.
Captian Tokkem, looked into the dark ocean blue vast. His eye caught onto a strange looking iceberg. Something about it's colors were off...
Tokkem looked back into the vast, and then back at the iceberg again. Then looked back at his men. "Varmok, we will set sail toward that iceberg." He commanded.
"Aye sir!" and with no time wasted, they redirected toward the strange looking iceberg. A few of his men annoyed, and wanted to just get the shift over with.
"Sir, if you don't mind me asking but, why are going toward that iceberg?" asked Varmok
"To be honest? A strange looking iceberg might contain something of value to our tribe, or possibly even the world. I once read a story about the 100 year war, an ancient war. And the story began almost like this. Do you know how the avatar was found during that war Varmok?"
Varmok gave a confused and unsure shrug, signifying that he never read about the 100 year war.
"Well he hid in an iceberg for 100 years." He confirmed.
"Well that's the avatar sir. No normal person can survive in an iceberg for 100 years."
"What are saying Varmok?"
"I'm saying that your wishful thinking is wasting our time. We need to get back to the tribe soon and you wanted to off course over something so stupid. If anything, that iceberg will contain nothing but a corpse!"
"Alright, alright. Tell ya what then, once we're done investigating that iceberg, we'll straight back to the tribe. How does that sound?" Tokkem finished
"Alright, fine. Whatever, lets get this over with."
They both look ashore to see they were already close to the iceberg.
"I'll get the boys ready to uncover whatever could be under there" and with that, Varmok walked off with a spare pickaxe.
"Alright boys, lets dig this up." Varmok announced and got to digging.
All of the men weren't sure of what could under this icy rock. Some of them questioned, others didn't care. They did have a common goal, and they wanted to get it over with.
"I wonder what the captian could want with this thing." Said one of his men
"Beats me... hey hold on, is it me or does that look like a person in there?"
However, the very thing they were digging up was something they were in a surprise for.
"Hey, that's a person in there. Come on, lets dig harder!!"
A young woman was stuck in the ice berg. They didn't know if she was alive or not, but they knew that they couldn't just leave it there.
They were all committed now.
"I'll get the captain, and we'll go from there." Said Varmok.
He walked in to see Tokkem documenting their current situation. Something he never liked about Tokkem, and how he would always stay back in and do the easy work.
"Hey"
Tokkem looked up.
"We found someone in there." He said.
Not a second later, and Tokkem was already up. Speeding toward the ice berg. As went out, he was greeted to an unconscious young woman that they had dug out from the ice berg.
Tokkem's men seemed rather surprised. Varmok walked toward the stunned captain.
"So um, what do you want to do with this? Tell firelord Izumi or somethin? What the hell are we gonna do with a corpse!? A FIRE NATION CORPSE?!? I told you this was a waste of time!"
"Uh captain??? I don't think that's suppose to happen." One of his men called out. Varmok looked immediately, and saw what everyone else was seeing.
The princess stood up.
She didn't even struggle.
She got up as if it was another normal day. As if, nothing had happened. Although her eyes disagreed for a short time. However, she was finally fully aware of what was around her.
She observed the area. Multiple men with pickaxes, and some of them wide mouthed. One man standing in front of them, who looked very important. The princess asked the important looking man.
"Who are you?"
"Uhm, I am the captain of this group.
"So I see, and why did you come free me, captain?"
Tokkem was out of words. Was this real? Is any of this real?
"You're... you are the ancient fire princess aren't you??"
"What, do you want a history lesson oaf? If you freed me thinking you could earn something out of me then you should've left this place unscathed." The princess said
"Although, thats without saying, I'm still glad to be free."
"Look, we didn't expect anyone to be alive in that iceberg. You can come with us on board and we'll get some contacts to get you back in the fire nation." Varmok said
"I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, I have other plans." Azula got into a stance "and you are all invloved"
"Don't try anything! You are literally surrounded, we will hurt you!" Warned Varmok
But it didn't matter. Azula charged at one of the men. As he swung his pickaxe, he missed. Azula performed a lower jab on his stomach and the man lost all of his footing.
Azula's stength was very abnormal, as she easily overpowered the muscle man. More men charged at her until she kept one of them hostage.
"Come closer and he dies" She warned. She glanced at the man and saw a look of fear among his face.
"Why are you doing this? The war is over! You can come with us to safety on actual land!" yelled Tokkem.
Azula mearly smiled at Tokkem. She was plotting something else, and didn't know what.
"Fine! If you wanna be like that, then we'll take you down!"
Azula did not hesitate. They saw her jaw open wide. Then a crunch, on the mans neck. He couldn't even yell. It was like anything they ever saw before.
His skin became white as the snow around them, his eyes now dull and voided. Then as azula let go, the man simply dropped to the ground.
She was a monster, and they would all die if something couldn't be done.
Varmok was ready to fight, but he wouldn't be doing any of the fighting. He felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Varmok, I need you to go back. Take the ship back, and warn everyone." Tokkem said. "This is my mistake anyways, just go back now!" He ordered Varmok.
He complied, and went straight for the ship. As Azula went for him, all the men ran to the boarding platform. "Sorry, but you ain't invited!"
"So be it then." Azula replied. It was the beggining of a slaughter, and Varmok would not be there to witness it.
She was free. She was finally free. She felt the air again, she saw the sky, she saw people. But most importantly, she drank the escense of life again.
It was a feast. A giant feast. She tried so hard to control the urge...
But it has been so long.
She didn't know long. Just a long time.
So much time had passed. Now she wondered who is still alive from her time. One thing is for certain however, the avatar. He must be still around. And she would not let him defeat her this time. She would plan, she would attain more power.
This wasn't over yet. Destiny hasn't decided it's over yet.
Azula saw the ship in the distance, but also saw something else.
A rising sun.
She couldn't go after him, but that's alright. She decided to let them know of her presence. She turned back into the darkness, and went to find shelter for the day. Once she leaves the southpole, everything can fall back into place.
The destruction of the Avatar.
