Chapter 1: Prologue.

"Seventeen years earlier"

With the force of a minor car-crash, Nick Rye's plane descended into the water, cracks marring the windshield. Growing up his grandfather had told him stories of his time flying in the war, about near crashes as he engaged the enemy, the sound of aircraft roaring all around, both ally and enemy, of bullets peppering his hull, both his grandfather and father had been furious when Nick chose not to enlist, opting to find a non-military career instead, then the Peggies took over Hope County, and suddenly it was a warzone, people taken, sometimes in broad daylight, firefights in the streets, friends killed right in front of you. Now he knew how his grandfather and father had felt, for a time Nick understood how it felt to be in conflict, flying against the enemy, helping liberate Hollond valley, even killing the infamous John Seed himself, leaving only Joseph and his big brother Jacob Seed left, watching as the Peggie pilots spiraling towards the earth to explode in a burst of fire and metal

Only now it had been his turn to plummet to the ground, or sea , whatever, the smoke billowed from the ruins of the engine as the wind rushed past the cockpit, the sea rapidly closing in until impact. Only two things soothed Nick's troubled mind, number one, that the plane he was flying was just a hijacked Peggie aircraft, and not his beloved," Carmina", a hand-me-down of three Rye generations, first his grandfather's, then his father's, and now him, he intended to pass it down to his daughter, named after the reliable old girl herself, but now he was wondering if he would even be alive to see his daughter, or the love of his life, Kim, the only woman he'd ever love or need, ever again, God, he hoped so.

The second was that the Peggie he had pursued was most likely experiencing the same organs turn to jelly twisting he had just experienced, he couldn't explain it, one minute he and the Peggie had been in the middle of a dog-fight, when a storm had suddenly crept up on them, coming out of nowhere it seemed, and what a storm, like a miniature hurricane, in seconds the battle had turned from trying to kill one another to both pilots desperately fight the controls to keep their craft aloft, readings were off the charts, his instruments went hay-wire, needles spinning in their dials, alarms blaring in his ears, all around him was a blackness of dark storm clouds, broken only by bright flashes of lightning and rain, how was that possible? The sky had been clear when he and the Peggie had spotted each other, then BOOM! Storm! He barely had time to ponder before a bolt had scored his engine and his altitude decreased rapidly, smoke indistinguishable from the clouds all around, it had taken all his strength to fight the descent and the storm to keep the plane airborne. And then, as suddenly as it began, the storm seemed to lift, what had once been an open expanse of sea was suddenly a large island or landmass, all he could see was the coast and some jungle beyond before the engine finally gave out and he was plummeting towards the water..

Spurts of ocean water jetted in through the cracks as the plane descended into the water, Nick's body was in motion, fumbling for the clasp of his seatbelt, the water rising up to his ankles, with one final tug the clasp opened. The water almost up to his knees, every part of him felt sore and stiff, a part of his brain was telling him to just "go limp", it would make things easier. But a louder voice was screaming at him to keep fighting, yelling he still had so much left to live for, for Kim and Carmina, how he refused to leave her fatherless, the cold seawater overtaking his waistline was a shock to the system, even with the adrenaline pumping through his veins as he kicked at the windshield, thanking his lucky stars he was still able to breath, but it wouldn't be like this for long, he knew as soon as that glass went the water would pour in with force, large craps appeared as he kicked the glass for the seventh time, finally the glass broke and the water hit his chest hard enough to knock his air out of him, he gasped in one last breath as the water went over his head, he was through the jagged opening and swimming to the surface as the airplane sank into the dark water below. The water slowing his movements as he kicked towards the surface, he was running out of air fast, with a final kick his head broke the surface. Wasting no time in taking in a great lungful of air.

All around him was crystal blue-green water, the storm system that has knocked him from the sky was there, he could see it, hundreds of yards out, strangely enough the water was calm., not the least bit choppy, but he could worry about that later, he couldn't just tread water out here all day, turning from the storm he started kicking towards shore.

At long last his felt sand under his boots as he crawled his soaking wet body out from the sea to crawl along the shore, all his adrenaline spent in escaping the sinking aircraft and swimming to shore. and boy could he feel it, with what energy he had left he rolled over onto his back just lay there. Water lapping at his heels as he lay on the white sandy shore, raggedy gasping for breath. He didn't know how long he lay there before he finally lifted his head to look around.

It was beautiful, where ever he was, white sandy beach overlooking the blue-green water, dotted with small sea stacks, almost like a Caribbean or Australian post-card. The jungle ruined the tropical paradise look, though, almost like it was something out of pre-history.

He shakily rose to his feet, from what he could tell nothing felt broken, but he was sore all over and exhausted, saltwater and sand clinging to his clothes, hair and beard. He took a few stumbling steps and was relieved that he now felt certain nothing broke or was damaged in the crash.

That's when he heard it, the sound of a planes engine, up above clear as crystal he saw the Eden's Gate logo on the wings of the descending aircraft, just like him, smoke billowing from the ruins of the engine, he watched as it plummeted into the trees and disappeared, a second later, the sound of metal twisting and shrieking as it was shredded by branches.

Nick swore, after his crash he just wanted to find somewhere to lie up and rest a bit before finding out where the hell he was, but with the thought of the possibility the Peggie survived the crash, he knew he couldn't, the Peggies where ruining his he in Hope County, Montana, as they prepared for their "Great collapse", Nick swore a second time and entered the jungle.

The shade felt great, the coolness soothing his sore muscles a bit as he sprinted towards the spit he heard the Peggie go down, and he didn't have to go far before he started seeking the signs as well, broken branches in a rough line and torn up earth with small smoking jagged pieces of metal, before he halted before a small clearing, the smoking wreckage plain as day, the crash digging a small trench in the ground, Nick picked up a nearby branch and carefully crept towards the plane, his makeshift club held at the ready as he peered inside the cockpit and swore, no sign of the peggie, just some splatters of blood, looks like he hadn't been as lucky as Nick with avoiding injury.

Something rustled nearby and he spun around, branch raised, he saw nothing, but Nick couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched, and for a brief moment he felt a twinge of fear as he felt the eyes watching him weren't human, but before he could do anything else, something cold and metal pressed into the small of his back followed by the unmistakable sound of safety being switched off.

"Gotcha, sinner." A hand came up and removed his pitiful weapon from his hands, Nick closed his eyes.

"Should've joined with Joseph when you had the chance, he would've saved your soul….but now." The Peggie laughed darkly and his finger squeezed the trigger.

Click. Nothing happened as the gun jammed.

"Shit!" the Peggie hissed as his focused shifted away for a second before Nick throw his head back and smashed the back square into his nose, something cracked and the Peggie swore in pain before Nick turned around and socked him square in the jaw. He received a head butt in retaliation swiftly followed by a backhand

Nick kneed him in the gut as he grabbed the hand holding the pistol and forced it upwards, the gun fired blindly in the air, the two over balanced toppling to the ground, still fighting. Something rustled again nearby but neither of the two men heard it, as the rolling stopped with the Peggie on top and his hands around Nick's throat.

Nick gasped, choking, his hands fumbling on the ground, and as he did, his fingers felt the tree branch he had intended to use originally and clutched it. Every thing was starting to get fuzzy when he swung, the Peggie yelped, the impact jarring his arm and the pressure on his airway lifted, Nick jammed the stick into his gut again, finally forcing the man off him. Nick gasped, taking I air, before rising, club raised….and found himself staring down the mouth of the pistol.

Both parties stopped, frozen as they stared at one another, all Nick could see of his enemy was his eyes glaring at him from the eyeholes of his red ski mask, for a second neither side moved, breaths ragged, what could Nick do? All he had was a stick, his enemy had a gun, all he had to do was charge and that'd be the end of him, he was screwed and both sides knew it. It was a tense stand-off.

The Peggie's hand reached up and removed his cap, underneath Nick saw his hair was shaved and his nose, he was pleased to note was now swollen and crooked, with a decent amount of blood dripping down.

" Wonder how long he'll have that?"

Nick barely had time to enjoy the damage to his adversary before the sound of another bullet entering the firing chamber and was trained to his head.

"Get a last look, sinner! He snarled "Mines the last face you're ever gonna see!"

Nick closed his eyes as the gun was raised, as he did something exploded from the bushes behind him accompanied by a low animalistic growl, on instinct he reflexively dropped and something leaped over him and the next thing he heard was the Peggie screaming. Nick opened his eyes, partially from fear and partially from curiosity.

The peggie was on the ground, his sneering glare changed into one of pure terror as the animal tore into him, loud screams melding into the snarling of the beast. Out in the open, Nick could see it was a quadrupled creature with a ten foot long slender light tan body and a long narrow mouth brimming with fangs including a pair of long saber teeth in the upper jaw that were currently gripping the Peggies left arm.

"Holy shit!" Nick yelled jumping to his feet in terror and surprise, but the creature wasn't focused on him but the Peggie, it's jaws lifted up and shook, there was a snap followed by several pops as tendons and ligaments gave way beneath the jaws as the Peggies left arm snapped off a few inches below the elbow, the Peggie let out a blood-curdling scream and his blood came out in bursts.

Nick almost threw up on the spot, this was insane, Nick didn't even know what this thing was, it wasn't quite a mammal or reptile but it somehow made him think of both, all he knew was he wanted to be far away from it as he could. And while it was busy with the Peggie he had a shot, pausing only to snatch up the pistol from the ground where it fell from the Peggies grasp, he sprinted towards the jungles…

Something stopped him, as he looked back at the thing eating the Peggies dismembered arm , he felt sorry for him, even if he was a Peggie and had just been about to kill him seconds before, sure he hated Peggies for what they were doing back home, but being torn apart and eaten alive by a monster was something even they didn't deserve. Maybe he had a string of bad luck that had made him easy prey for Joseph and his posse. Nick sighed.

" Can't believe I'm doing this." Nick thought as he turned back.

The thing had finished devouring the Peggies arm, it turned back and opened its jaws again, aiming for the neck this time, the jaws came down ready to close around his throat, and they would have if not for the pistol suddenly jammed into its jaws.

"Gimme your hand!" Nick shouted to the Peggie as he struggled to keep the gun wedged in the creatures mouth. "Hurry before I change my mind!"

The Peggies remaining arm reached out, soaked in blood, from holding his wound, Nick grabbed hold and started pulling him free, it wasn't easy since the hand was slippery with blood combined with Nick having to fight to keep the gun in its position of holding the beast off, but at last he managed to drag the injured man out, the Peggie sobbing quietly the whole time, just as the creature spat the gun out. Nick kicked it in the jaws and it backed up a bit, Nick raised the gun and pointed it at the thing, not liking his chances of dropping it before it reached them, he heard how fast it closed in on them.

The thing lowered itself on its surprisingly short legs, growling with the Peggies blood dripping from it's jaws. Maybe he didn't have to kill it, maybe he could scare it enough into fleeing, he adjusted his aim and fired, the bullet buried into the ground at its feet, the thing jumped a bit, eyeing the ground warily, Nick fired again and the bullet wizard by its snout, the beast backed up a bit, on edge, it couldn't tell what was going on and that made it hesitate, Nick knew he couldn't keep this up, he hadn't checked to see if the gun had a full clip or if the Peggie has any spares, not to mention not even knowing where on earth they were , better finish this.

The third bullet struck the beast in the tail, it howled and spun around, seeing nothing there was the final strawit had had enough, it came for an easy meal and got more then it bargained for, it retreated into the bushes and out of sight.

Nick held the gun at the bushes as the sounds of the creature leaving got further and further away, only when they faded did he lower the weapon.

He glanced around, again "where was he?" came to mind, he wasn't a scientist but whatever that thing was didn't look like anything that lived in the present, maybe this place was one of those lost world's, or some mad scientist experiments got loose, like in the movies ? He pondered for a second before the Peggie behind him let out a hiss.

He turned towards him, the Peggie was leaning against the ruins of his plane, his whole left side red with blood from his missing arm, the Peggie saw him looking at him and scowled.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" He spat, "You going to kill me or what?

"Yeah, I just went through the whole trouble of saving your ass to kill you myself." Nick said sarcastically as he came up and knelt down beside him, his hands went for the stump and the Peggie stiffened.

"What the hell are you doing, sinner!?"

"We have to treat this or at least stop the bleeding." Nick explained with a touch of impatience "We don't know if there's more of those things out there, and all this blood on you is like ringing the dinner bell."

The Peggie muttered under his breath, but his body relaxed and Nick took it that he saw the truth in that, Nick examined the torn, bleeding flesh, with the jagged stub of bone poking through.

"Why did you?"

Why'd I what?"

"Save me, shit-head."

Nick shrugged, "Maybe I thought even a sorry ass Peggie such as yourself didn't deserve to be torn apart…or maybe I intend to use you as a distraction in case more of those things show up?"

The Peggie went silent, Nick examined the rough amputation for a few more seconds before standing up.

"Well, goes without say your arms toast, and we don't have any first aid supplies on the planes, least mine didn't, I assume same on your end?" the Peggie nodded curtly, "So looks like we're just gonna have to patch it up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~/-\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A minute or two later Nick stood up and looked over his handy work, no med supplies and no knowing if any of the plants around them had medical properties meant they had to settle with a crude patch job, and a strip cut from the Peggies shirt with his pocket knife wound tightly around his wound was better then nothing, at the very least it slowed the bleeding.
"Ow!" the Peggie yelped as Nick pulled it tight.
"Oh, stop whining." Nick tightened the crude bandage and stood up and looked around them. "That's the best I can do right now, now if we can only find out where we are."
The Peggie said nothing, he probably had no clue and Nick wasn't any better off, he thought back to stories his grandfather heard about soldiers being stuck behind enemy lines, on their own, they must've felt as helpless as he did. Completely lost in a foreign land, not knowing if they live to see the next bend, they'd seen one creature, no telling how many more could be lying in wait.
Nick looked around, hoping to see anything that might shed some light, but all he saw was the jungle surrounding them on all sides, occasionally the noise of some animal would break the stillness but beyond that nothing.
"This place is hell." The Peggie said suddenly.
"Last I checked, you didn't need a plane crash to get there." Nick said
"The Lord judged your soul tainted and you dragged me down with you." The Peggie continued like he hadn't heard.
The Peggie went on with his talk of the "Great collapse" horse shot. Nick ignored him, resisting the urge to smash the butt of the pistol in the Peggies mouth, much as he hated it, they were more then likely the only two humans on the island, they could work out the finer points later after they got their bearings.
"I'm gonna go have look around, stay here, and try not to do anything stupid."
"Wait, Wait!" the Peggie said sounding uneasy, "Your just going to leave me here, fuck that! There could be more of those beasts out there, I'd be a dead man!"
"Yeah, well, consider it a death in the name of your father, Joseph or whatever you call it." Nick answered dryly. "Maybe if you pray to Joseph , he'll come save you."
" I can help!" the Peggie pleaded "Four eyes are better then two!"
"You sure you want to travel with a sinner?" Nick quipped.
"Anything beats running into those damn things again."
Nick went silent as he mulled over his options before sighing.
"Fine, just try not to slow me down. And stop with the "Great collapse" talk or else."
The two set off away from the plane, heading deeper into the trees. The air hung heavy all around them. The pair jumping at every slight noise, thinking that creature or some other horror was going to come barreling out at them. Nick held the gun in his right hand, the Peggie walking alongside him, still a little shaky from the blood loss, but he could stand, thank God for that, Nick wouldn't have been happy if he had to cart him on his back the whole way.
Time passed as they headed deeper, but nothing came out at them, all was quiet, except for an occasional shriek, but they sounded far away, Nick and the Peggie still remained on edge all the same", some of those calls sounded strange, like no animal either of them had heard before, not a wolf, mountain lion or a bear. The plant life looked strange too, like nothing out of Montana. Nothing made sense since they both crash landed here, where ever this place was just didn't feel right. They couldn't put their fingers on in, but the island radiated a sense of ancientness, like time had just decided to stand still, that was all they could say.
The two stopped by a stream after walking a while, the sun just started dipping below the tree line. Nick drank while the Peggie tried washing off some of the dried blood on his clothes?, but wasn't having much luck.
"Having trouble there, Peggie?" Nick smirked.
"Silence , blasphemer!" He snapped, "Its your fault, if you had just joined Joseph's flock, we could now be preparing got the great collapse with the rest of the flock."
"Oh, shut the hell up about that damn collapse already!" Nick shouted, his temper flaring. "Its all horse shit and scares, "Joseph ain't shit and of you had a quarter of a brain you'd seen that by now!"
"How dare you speak of the father that way!" cried the Peggie, "His word is that of God!"
"Blah, blah, blah." Responded Nick, "You Peggies really are full of crap. Tell me, was Joseph then one who saved you from that thing? No, it was me and your making me real sorry I did, don't know what I thinking."
The Peggie shot up, so did Nick, the pistol drawn and pointed as again the two found themselves in a tense stand-off, for a moment neither one spoke.
They both heard it at the same time, the sound of a twig snapping off to the side, spinning around as the noise came again from some trees to their left, something flited in the shadows, bipedal but the wrong shape to be a human, then a creature leapt out of the shade, it was big enough to look Nick in the eyes and at least thirteen feet long, it skin was covered in dark teal scales with pale brown strips starting at the head and fading as they neared the end of the tail, which was long and stiff, small feather-like quills protruded from the back of its head.
It moved forward, bobbing its head slightly like a bird, both men felt their breath catch in their throat, the thing was a dinosaur, there was no mistaking it, even if Nick could tell what it was, a Deinonychus, worse still, he remembered they usually traveled in packs. This WAS some kind of Lost World.
"Don't….move." Nick whispered to the Peggie as he kept his eyes trained in the carnivore, the Peggie stood rooted to the spot in shock and fear, the Raptor cocked its head , almost curiously at the injured Peggie, they both knew predators usually went for the sick or injured, and the one-armed man covered in dried blood was a calling card for every hungry predator in this place.
The Raptor stepped forward, a low hiss rumbling in its throat, it's eyes going from Nick to the Peggie, a second hiss came from their side as a second Deinonychus came into view, from Nick's right a third suddenly appeared, the group moved slowly towards the two, claws extended as their growls increased.
"On my word, Run!" Nick's muscles tensed as the Raptor's approaching from the sides dropped into a crouch, they were preparing to pounce.
The Raptors sprang, sickle claws ready for slashing, only for both to crash in mid-air as the two men ducked, only a second slower and they'd been eviscerated, even so Nick could still feel the scaly tail brush over his cap, the Raptor's squealed, clawing and kicking at the other for only a moment?, but this moment all the time Nick needed.
"RUN!"
The two took off, the first raptor jumped at the other two and nipped at their throats snarling in rage to bring them back under control
Nick and the Peggie speed through the woods, not caring where they were going as long as it was away from the dino's, they muscles burning from the exertion, but Nick knew the two couldn't out-run these things, he'd seen the Jurassic Park movies, Raptors wore one of the fastest two-legged animals that ever lived. They needed a plan, but at the moment his only thought was run!
Another Raptor suddenly jumped from the bushes ahead of them, Nick and his companion swerved, slipping a bit on leaves , in the time it took them to righten themselves a fifth Raptor made an appearance, the two pushed ahead, pushing limbs out of the way, hearing the grunts of the Raptor's following behind them, Nick raised the pistol and blind fired over his shoulder, damp hair fell over his eyes, he was going so fast his heart felt it might burst from his chest at any moment.
The trees ahead of them started to thin out a bit, more of the sun setting through the canopy could be seen as the ground became more rocky, all at once trees vanished and the pair barely had time to skid to a halt before they went over the cliff they were now trapped on, they turned back only to see the two pursuing Raptors in front of them, then the first three came bursting out, forming a semi circle around the two men.
The Peggie fell to his knees holding his good arm to the sky, mumbling under his breath, Nick jerked the pistol up and pulled the trigger, hoping he could at least take one or two out before they closed in, but the clicked empty. It dropped from his hands to clatter on the rocks.
"We're trapped, we're fuckin' TRAPPED!" Nick cried falling beside the Peggie in despair and utter defeat, this was it, he was going to die, he was surrounded, seconds from being torn to shreds by prehistoric hunters, with a despairing sigh, he took his knife from his pocket, not knowing if he planned to use it of himself or in a last ditch attack on the Raptor's, only he knew his final thoughts were gonna be his family, on Kim and baby Carmina, the two most important people in his life, how he wouldn't be there to see his daughter grow up, hear her laughing as she played in the yard, how he had planned on teaching her to be a pilot like him, pass the old Seaplane on to her when she turned eighteen.
"I'm sorry, family. Raise our girl good, Kim. I'll be waitin' on the other side.
And he opened the knife…
The ground suddenly shook violently, something slammed into the cliff with such force Nick was sent sprawling to the ground, the Peggie followed, crying out as he fell on his torn arm, the knife slipped from his fingers, Nick covered his head in his arms, knowing he'd never reach it before the Raptor's sprang, he could only prey his end was quick.
Only he didn't feel talons tearing into his flesh, no cries from the Peggie beside him, no hissing from the Raptor's, at last he dared to open one eye in time to see the Raptor's high-tailing it back into the brush, they quickly vanished, their calls of alarm fading until they were lost in the trees.
"What the-?"
Then he saw what had caused the dino's to retreat, a pale white hand had slammed into the rock not far from the Peggie, he was staring at it too, mouth open, dumbfounded, the hand was a least twice as big as they were, the flesh crisscrossed with old scars, others fresh, before merging into a long muscular arm, as they stared open mouthed a second giant hand came form below the cliff and slammed several feet from Nick, almost knocking him flat down again, both Nick and the Peggie sat rooted to the ground as the massive shape of a distinctly human head, framed by the setting sun, lifted high above them.
For the umpteenth time since he got here, Nick brain formed only one single question.
" Where on God's good Earth are we?
That's it for the prologue, this will feature characters from my other fandoms but most of the major characters will be from the Loud House/Casagrandes, they'll appear more in the next chapters. More chapters will come after I figure out which famous actor I want to picture voicing Tom Hiddleston's character.
Kinda curious to see how many can guess what was the first creature.
