Chapter One: Olympus Coliseum
"Well at least now you're all signed up. Now you just gotta tell Phil." Alexis says as she is walking with Hercules.
"Yeah." Hercules says as he smiles.
"Hey there he is." Alexis says as she sees Phil in the distance.
"Hey Phil! I'm all signed up! Phil!" Hercules shouts as he runs toward Phil.
"Huh? Who's that boy?" Alexis asks as she sees a blonde haired boy with Phil before going over as a soldier goes over to the group.
"Okay. Fess up. I asked around and everybody says you're the guy. The trainer of heroes!" The solider says.
"True heroes!" Hercules says proudly.
"Really? You can teach that?" The blonde haired boy asks as Alexis looks at him.
"Course he can. C'mon Phil. Please. I really wanna be a hero." The soldier says pleadingly.
"Look we've been through this... I got two words for you. Student-teacher ratio!" Phil says annoyedly.
"One, two... Um?" The blonde boy asks as he counts on his hand.
"I already got my hands full with this one. Besides far as the girl she came with him unfortunately but she's already well trained thankfully. C'mon Herc, Alexis." Phil says as he begins to walk off with Alexis and Hercules.
"I'm low-maintenance I swear!" The soldier shouts before some monsters appear as Alexis, Phil, and Hercules try to leave.
"Unversed!" The blonde boy shouts.
"Un what!?" Alexis asks in alarm.
"Monsters huh... Hey Phil! Watch this! I'll show ya what I'm made of." The soldier shouts as he runs toward the group.
"And I'll help too!" Hercules shouts.
"So will I!" Alexis says as Phil runs off to hide.
"Count me in." The blonde haired boy says as he runs over.
"Who are you?" Alexis asks as she looks at the boy while pulling out her keyblade.
"Let's just say I'm familiar with these things. Huh? How did you get a keyblade!?" The boy asks.
"Later! We got bigger problems to deal with!" Alexis shouts as the group starts fighting. not long after defeating the unversed the group soon stops and pants as Phil comes over.
"Okay... Change of plans. The Games are comin' up. So I'm gonna watch both of your matches...then I'll decide which of you rookies I wanna train." Phil says as everyone looks at him.
"Sweet! Thank you! Thank you! I'm gonna go sign up right now." The soldier shouts before running off toward the Coliseum.
"The Games huh? Sounds fun!" The blonde boy says as he starts to follow the soldier.
"Sorry kid. Captain Eager there just took the last spot." Phil says as the boy stops.
"Wait Phil. Just hold on a second." Alexis says.
"I don't understand! Phil I thought you were my trainer!" Hercules says as he looks at Phil.
"Yeah. I thought you were gonna train Hercules?" Alexis asks.
"You wanna be a true hero Herc? Then you're gonna hafta go out there and show me that everything I've taught you so far is gonna pay off." Phil says.
"But Phil..." Hercules says disappointedly.
"Oh...and no more trainin' sessions for a while. Wouldn't be fair if I helped you and not him." Phil says before walking off as Alexis shakes her head annoyedly.
"Well how do like that? I hate it when people do that." Alexis says in annoyance as Hercules gives a disappointed look.
"Hey cheer up! So you gotta fight a couple of matches? No big deal." The blonde boy says.
"Who are you anyway?" Alexis asks as she looks at the boy.
"I'm Ventus. Want me to help you train?" The boy asks as he smiles.
"You'd really do that for me?" Hercules asks in surprise.
"Sure." Ventus says happily.
"Thanks Ventus. I'm Hercules. Herc for short." Hercules says kindly.
"Considering Hercules seems to want the help I guess I'll go along with it. I'm Alexis. Nice to meet you Ventus." Alexis says kindly.
"Just call me Ven. You're gonna do fine." Ventus says as he shakes hands with Hercules.
"Thanks. I'm gonna head over to the Coliseum and warm up. Meet me in the vestibule okay?" Hercules asks as he runs off.
"Vestibule?" Ventus asks.
"Follow me. I know where he is talking about." Alexis says as she starts walking with Ventus.
"So how did you get that keyblade?" Ventus asks as Alexis looks at him.
"Let's just say it belong to my mother. She gave it to me a long time ago. " Alexis says.
"You're pretty good with it. Your mom must be proud." Ventus says kindly.
"I wouldn't know. Haven't seen her in a long time." Alexis says as she gives a slightly sad look.
"Why not?" Ventus asks.
"Reasons. Anyway enough about me. Herc is gonna be wondering where we are. Come on." Alexis says as she gestures for Ventus to follow.
*Timeskip*
"Thanks again for training with me Ventus." Hercules says as he is with Alexis and Ventus in the vestibule.
"No problem. You wanna become a true hero huh?" Ventus asks curiously.
"More than anything. See my father is Zeus. The king of the gods up on Olympus." Hercules says as Ventus gives a shocked expression.
"Whoa! Herc you're a god?" Ventus asks in amazement.
"Mortal actually." Alexis says as she looks at Hercules.
"When I was a baby somebody stole me from my parents and...figured out how to take away my godhood." Hercules says.
"And this true hero thing?" Ventus asks.
"It's the only way I can become a god again. If I become a true hero I can rejoin my father and go back to Olympus. But until then I'm stuck down here. But at least I got Alexis to keep my company." Hercules says as he looks at Alexis.
"Wow... I guess you really got your work cut out for you! But what about Alexis? What will you do when he returns back to his family?" Ventus asks curiously.
"Well I'd like to travel.. You see.. when I was a child I lost my parents.. My weapon is the only thing left I have of my mom.. but my mom always wanted to travel the world and so did I. We had hoped to see it together but that won't be possible. So I plan to travel and see as many places as I can. I want to do it for my mom and myself." Alexis says.
"And I promised her that she is welcome to go at any time but she insists on staying." Hercules says.
"Only because I don't wanna see you get your butt handed to you again." Alexis says as Hercules gives a nervous look.
"Hehe.. yeah.." Hercules says as he laughs nervously.
"So you guys are friends?" Ventus asks.
"Sort of. I think we are but she doesn't think so. Doesn't care for the labels thing. But in short we are sorta friends." Hercules says.
"And with good reason. But I guess you can call us travel companions." Alexis says as she looks at Ventus.
"But what about you? How come you're here?" Hercules asks.
"Yeah. You've asked quite a bit about us and we told you our stories. What's yours?" Alexis asks as Ventus sighs.
"I'm...I'm just trying to make some friends." Ventus says sadly.
"Well hey! You've done that already." Hercules says happily.
"Huh?" Ventus asks.
"C'mon. We're friends aren't we?" Hercules asks.
"You bet Herc." Ventus says as he chuckles before the soldier and Phil come into the room.
"All right you bunch of rookies. It's time we go over the rules of the Games so listen up. All the matches are divided into two brackets. One for the East and one for the West. The winners from each bracket go head-to-head in the championship match. Now I signed you two up for the West...'cause they already got a heavy-hittin' contender cleanin' up over there in the East bracket. And if you wanna beat him you're gonna hafta hustle in there. Now move those sandals." Phil says.
"Heavy-hitting contender?" Ventus asks.
"Ven! C'mon!" Hercules says as he runs off.
"Oh. Okay! Hey Alexis aren't you coming?" Ventus asks as he looks at Alexis.
"I'm gonna watch from the stands. Don't worry. I'll be cheering you both." Alexis says.
*Timeskip*
After the match Alexis then walks over to Ventus, Phil, and Hercules.
"Guess we made it!" Ventus says happily.
"Great job you two." Alexis says happily as she smiles.
"Yeah. And it's all thanks to you Ven." Hercules says as he smiles.
"Good! The other kid'll be happy to hear that." Phil says coldly.
"No! I need you most of all Phil! How else am I gonna become a hero?" Hercules asks as he looks at Phil.
"Hmph! 'Bout time ya got it!" Phil says as he walks off before the soldier runs over.
"Whoever wins no hard feelings." The soldier says as he shakes hands with Hercules.
"Course not. Holdin' a grudge wouldn't be very heroic." Hercules says.
"Hey just making sure. You're not a hero yet." The soldier says.
"True." Hercules says as he laughs before entering the arena with the soldier and beginning a match with him.
"This is really close." Ventus says as Alexis looks at him.
"Are you okay Ven? You seem distracted." Alexis says.
"Yeah I'm okay. Just.. thinking about some people I know." Ventus says as Alexis nods.
"Know that feeling. My mom is on my mind constantly." Alexis says before Phil runs over.
"Hey! We got trouble! There's monsters loose in town and if they gate-crash the Games, you can forget about the match." Phil says worriedly.
"What?" Alexis asks as she looks at Phil.
"Real monsters?" Zack asks.
"Leave the monsters to me. This match is too important!" Ventus shouts as he runs off.
"I'm coming with you! You're not doing this alone." Alexis says as she runs after Ventus.
*Timeskip*
Once outside Alexis and Ventus then see a large group of unversed heading toward them.
"That's a lot of those unversed things." Alexis says worriedly as she and Ventus get out their keyblades.
"Either way we can't let them get past us." Ventus says.
"Right." Alexis says before Hercules runs up beside them.
"Herc! What about your match?" Ventus asks.
"Forget the match. No way I could let my friend fight alone. Cause I'm a hero! I mean ya know...I'm gonna be one. Come on. Let's finish this together!" Hercules says before the group begin fighting with the unversed. After defeating the unversed Ventus then gives a sad look.
"Sorry that I made you lose that match Herc." Ventus says sadly.
"Aw come on. You don't have to apologize. It was totally my decision." Hercules says before an unversed tries to sneak up on him only to get defeated by the soldier.
"What? You didn't save any for me?" The soldier asks.
"Not our fault if you're slow." Alexis says unimpressed.
"Hey you're here?" Hercules asks curiously.
"Hey I've set my sights on being a hero too. I just don't run as fast. That's all." The soldier says.
"So you both threw the match? Who won then?" Alexis asks.
"I left first so it's not me." Hercules says.
"Yeah but I was only seconds behind you." The soldier says as he looks at Hercules.
"Hmm." Alexis says before Phil comes over.
"Hey! I never said I'd coach the winner. All I said was I'd see the match then decide. Look bein' a hero takes more than just muscle. Ya gotta have heart and care about people. And sure you both get high marks for that. But this time only one of you cared fast enough and that makes all the difference." Phil says.
"Then that means..." Ventus says as Alexis looks at Hercules.
"You're the winner Herc." Alexis says happily while smiling.
"Oh man. I was this close! Well that's life. I never really introduced myself. The name's Zack. Congratulations Herc." The soldier says as he takes off his helmet and looks at Hercules.
"Thanks Zack." Hercules says.
"Yeah well we'll see if you're still thankin' him when I'm through with ya. You got a long road ahead of ya champ." Phil says.
"Hey! Don't count me out. I've still got plenty of big dreams to go with my lousy luck! Maybe if I train hard enough I'll get your pretty friend there to notice me too." Zack says as he winks at Alexis before doing squats.
"Uh yeah.. Don't count on that." Alexis says as she goes over to beside Ventus to get away from Zack.
"Okay be honest... You weren't really gonna stop training Herc were you?" Ventus asks as he looks at Phil.
"Of course not. I know that kid's gonna go the distance. But he was stuck in a rut. He just needed a little...incentive. It's uh Ventus right? Well thanks to you Herc here has really shaped up. I owe ya. You too Alexis. You've done great helping Herc as well." Phil says.
"Nah I'm glad. I made a really good friend. Somebody to share a laugh with. Like Terra and Aqua... We'll patch things up." Ventus says as Alexis looks at him.
"You're leaving?" Alexis asks.
"Yeah. My journey's not over yet." Ventus says as he looks at Alexis.
"But you'll visit right?" Hercules asks as Ventus smiles and nods.
"I'll stop by once you're a true hero." Ventus says.
"Stop by once me and him are both heroes!" Zack says as he does another squat.
"Oh so you mean never come back?" Ventus asks as Alexis laughs.
"Hey watch it!" Zack shouts as the others laugh.
*Timeskip*
Later as Alexis spots Ventus leaving she runs over to him.
"Ventus wait! I wanna come with you." Alexis says.
"Huh? You wanna come with me?" Ventus asks curiously as Alexis nods.
"Yes. Please let me." Alexis says.
"But why? Isn't this your home?" Ventus asks.
"Yes but do you remember what I told you about my mom?" Alexis asks as Ventus nods.
"Yeah.. You wanted to travel for her." Ventus says.
"Yes.. Please let me go with you. I wanna travel and I can't do that if I am stuck here." Alexis says.
"What do you mean?" Ventus asks confusedly before Alexis sighs.
"Ventus I can tell you're not from this world. Any wielder of a keyblade like that isn't. I'm not from this world either. I didn't tell you everything about me. The reason I have my mom's keyblade is because she used it to send me to another world when our home was attacked and destroyed. It was her way of keeping me safe. Now I wanna do what my mom and I promised to do. Travel.. Please I wanna see the world and I can't do that if I'm here. Please will you allow me to come with you?" Alexis asks pleadingly.
"I don't know.." Ventus says unsurely.
"I can help you look for your friends while I'm with you. We can help each other." Alexis says kindly.
"Really? Well I also don't wanna put you in any danger. The unversed are very dangerous." Ventus says.
"I noticed but I'm not fragile Ven. I can handle myself. Please?" Alexis asks.
"Well.. okay then. That will let me help you with something too." Ventus says as he smiles.
"What's that?" Alexis asks curiously.
"Getting used to having friends." Ventus says happily.
"Why would you do that?" Alexis asks confusedly.
"I want to and plus it's no fun being a loner. So is it a deal?" Ventus asks as Alexis nods.
"Sure Ven." Alexis says as she smiles.
