Prologue

Moth Flight stepped back as a vision of fire flooded her mind. Two twolegs grabbed the cats and ran with them. "Come on! We need to hurry! The fire is spreading!" a female twoleg said. Moth Flight felt the heat of the fire burn her paws. She leaped closer to the twoleg to escape the blazing fire.

"Unusual allies are here to help, waiting for you to welcome them." a voice whispered. Moth Flight began to panic, the fire was spreading quickly. Bright orange flames flooded the moor, tearing down the camp. "Faster!" the male twoleg yelled. The Clan cats held tight to the twolegs. Each of the twolegs had two cats. The rest of the Clan had to run behind them.

A wave of relief hit Moth Flight as she saw the cats escaping from the blazing camp. "What an unusual vision." Moth Flight thought.

Chapter One

Moth Flight spotted a watermint plant. She walked over to it. "Why does it have to be this way. I love Micah. Why did he have to leave me.".

She picked up a strange scent. "Twolegs." Moth Flight thought. She followed it farther up the dry slope.

"Come on, James." a female twoleg with long orange hair said. Moth Flight crept closer. "Those are the twolegs from my vision." she thought. The pair of twolegs moved farther into the territory. "I'm coming!" the other twoleg said.

The twolegs rode their horses here a lot but never came this far into the territory. Moth Flight needed to see what was going on. The female twoleg spotted Moth Flight. "Awe! Look at her, James. This poor little cat is out here alone.". Moth Flight walked closer, she trusted these twolegs.

Then, the male twoleg grabbed Moth Flight. "This one?" the twoleg asked. "Yes, James that one! There's no other cats around here!" the other twoleg replied. Moth Flight looked up. "So, what's your name, little kitty" the male twoleg said. "I'm Moth Flight." she meowed. The twolegs looked surprised, "She is speaking!" the other twoleg said, surprised. "So, Moth Flight is your name? What are you doing out here all alone?". "I am not alone. I live with my Clan. I am their medicine cat, their healer. I live in WindClan, but there are other Clans, ShadowClan, ThunderClan, SkyClan, and RiverClan. So, what are you guys's names?" Moth Flight meowed. "I'm James and this is my friend, Sarah." one of the twolegs said.

Moth Flight leaped out of James's grip and started to trot forward toward camp. "Come on! Come meet my Clan!" Moth Flight meowed happily. James and Sarah followed behind her. "Okay, Moth Flight", Sarah said.

The entrance to camp was near. Moth Flight walked into camp with James and Sarah behind her. Wind Runner came walking toward Moth Flight. "Who are these twolegs! Why are they here? Chase them off, Moth Flight!" Wind Runner yowled. James and Sarah stepped back. Moth Flight let out a hiss, "These are James and Sarah, they are our friends. They are not here to hurt us. Please let them come into camp!" Moth Flight pleaded. Wind Runner didn't move. "I thought I trusted you! Now you're bringing twolegs into our camp! You are such a mouse-brain!" Wind Runner hissed.

Sarah looked at Moth Flight and James "I think we should get out of here. I don't think Wind Runner wants us." Sarah stated. Wind Runner flicked her tail in anger, "Yes! Leave! You twolegs are not welcome in WindClan!". Moth Flight unsheathed her claws, "My friends are always welcome in WindClan! I am your medicine cat after all! I deserve at least a bit of respect! The least you can do for me is to let my friends in the camp! James and Sarah aren't going to hurt our Clan." Moth Flight meowed.

"How do you know that they aren't going to hurt our Clan! What if they turn on us! What are you going to do then! How do you know we can trust them?" Wind Runner hissed. Moth Flight stepped in front of James and Sarah, as if she was protecting them. Wind Runner let out a hiss of anger, "Oh? You want to protect them! Well I guess I might have to fight them off! Maybe that will scare them." Wind Runner meowed angrily.

Wind Runner leaped at Sarah slashing her sharp claws on her face. Sarah fell on to the dry grass. "Help! Moth Flight, James, someone please help!" Sarah cried. James leaped over and grabbed Wind Runner, "Leave Sarah alone!" James yelled. Moth Flight jumped at Wind Runner. "Stop! My friends are always welcome! Let Sarah and James be! Please, Wind Runner!" Moth Flight meowed. Sarah lay on the ground. A huge scratch tore her face. Wind Runner wriggled out of James's arms. "Moth Flight! No! No twolegs in our camp!" Wind Runner hissed. Sarah slowly stood up with her hand over her injured eye.

"Gorse Fur! It's you! Thank you so much! Moth Flight is trying to bring twolegs in our camp. Fight them, Gorse Fur, help me." Wind Runner meowed. Gorse Fur leaped at James, but James stood tall. Wind Runner saw Gorse Fur's struggle and ran over to help. She and Gorse Fur attacked James. "Hey!" Moth Flight yowled, jumping at Wind Runner and Gorse Fur.

Black Ear came waddling out of camp. "Twolegs!". Black Ear ran back into camp, "Mama! Come look!" Black Ear meowed.

Slate came running along with a few other cats. "What are you doing to these poor twoleg kits!" Jagged Peak yowled. Wind Runner ran to Jagged Peak "They aren't twoleg kits! And even if they were, they shouldn't be in our territory!" Wind Runner hissed. "Stop calling them twoleg kits! They have names you know! Sarah and James are their names!" Moth Flight hissed.
Spotted Fur launched himself at Wind Runner. "He is risking everything for me! He's attacking his own leader for me!" Moth Flight thought. "James, we really should get out of here. A gentleman would never get involved in something like this!" Sarah wailed. "Not yet! Look at this!" James yelled.

Spotted Fur grabbed Wind Runner and bit her on the leg. "Stop! I am your leader!" Wind Runner yowled.

Wind Runner looked at James and Sarah once more. "Fine. They can come. But I'm only doing this for Moth Flight." Wind Runner meowed.

Chapter Two

Moth Flight padded into camp. She led Sarah to the medicine den. "Here. Eat this, it should help heal your wound." Moth Flight purred. Sarah stepped back, "I'm fine, really. I don't need anything. But thank you, though." Sarah replied cheerfully. "How about some prey? Mice or rats, your choice." Moth Flight meowed. Sarah looked disgusted, "No, thanks. I'm not hungry.".

Moth Flight sat down, "James, come in here. You and Sarah can sleep in my den. Do you want me to make you guys nests.". Sarah and James glanced at each other then looked at Moth Flight, "Okay…" James said.
James and Sarah slowly sat down in the dirty medicine den. "Goodnight." Sarah said. "See you in the morning." James added. Moth Flight lay down and curled up in her fresh nest.

Chapter Three

Moth Flight stood up and stretched. "Sarah, James? Are you there?" Moth Flight asked. She felt panic begin to set in. She couldn't lose them. "James! Sarah! Come on! Where are you?" she meowed.

Wind Runner came into Moth Flight's den. "They left this morning. They should be back soon. Sarah said they were going to take a short walk.". Wind Runner as she walked out of the den, mumbled under her breath, "I hope a fox eats them, I don't want twolegs in my Clan.".

Moth Flight felt relieved, knowing Sarah and James were safe. She went over to her herb stock to see how the stock was. It seemed good. She could use some blackberry leaves, though. She didn't want to leave until Sarah and James were back. They might worry if they arrive back in camp and don't see Moth Flight.

Moth Flight began to sort her herbs. "Alder bark here, cob nuts over here, and bindweed and poppy seeds here.". Moth Flight looked at her clean den.

"Finally," she thought, "A clean den.".
