I might be alone in not hating the Kim and Adam scenes this year. I would love for them to be together and happy but if that's going to last they need to talk, like really talk. They've had more dialogue this season than all the others combined and it gives me hope. I do think they are at a fork in the road right now because Adam's always been the pusher in this relationship so Kim's reaction here is critical. Just my thoughts, it's a short one and most likely a one shot.
The pounding on the door was doing nothing to help the hangover he was nursing this morning. Drinking because of his father and Kim was a brutal combination. "Alright, I'm coming. Geez, chill would ya?" he said strolling to the door and yanking it open, hoping his glare would frighten off whoever dared to cross him this early in the morning. But those big brown eyes and warm smile was the last thing he expected to see
"Kim? What are you..."
"I can't stay long, Michaela's in the car with Platt." She rushed, "Do you want us to work out? At the end of the day, do you want us to be together?
Adam was stunned to have her standing outside his door but even more floored at the question. Damn this hangover for messing with his head. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, trying to find the words and the only thought that pushed forward was, "Why is Platt in your car?
"Kim gave a rueful smile and looked at a message on her phone, "come on Adam, I'm on Platt time. You've had a night to drink and not sleep on it. Do you want us to work out?
Adam rubbed his face, still not truly grasping what was happening here after everything that happened this week. "Kim, I'll always love you, but I don't know what I want righ..." His words were stopped by Kim's lips attacking him, pushing him back a little before he caught his footing and wrapped his hands around her waist. He leaned into her kiss, not knowing if this would be the last one they would ever share. Kim pulled back slowly, nudging his nose with hers, before stepping back with the biggest smile. "You didn't say no.
Adam looked at her and cupped her cheek, allowing her to lean into his touch and close her eyes. "No, I didn't. But I need know you trust me, so I can trust you. And, Darlin', I don't know how to fix that.
She opened her eyes and took his hand in both of hers, pulling it to her heart. "I fix it. I'm going to do the work. We are both really good at being complicated but I'm a lot of the reason we're in this place. I want to fix us, I want us, I just need to know if there's any point of fighting.
Adam swallowed, hard. Words were failing him so he nodded slowly and pulled her into his embrace. He was tired, everything with his father, with Kev, with Tommy, even Al, he was just heavy. But having Kim lose faith in him yesterday was the final straw. No matter their situation she was supposed to believe in him the way he always had believed in her. Loyalty was all he had, he just wanted some back.
The buzzing in Kim's pocket pulled them apart and she quickly read the message and pocketed her phone. "I gotta go, Platt's restless." The look on her face, coupled with the weirdness of this whole situation, made him laugh. Kim straightened the collar of his shirt and lingered with her arms by his neck. "I'm always asking something of you. Just one final request, let me fix this?
"Okay" was his reply as he placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. Kim turned to leave but looked back over her shoulder and smiled, "See you in a bit."
He smiled back as he closed the door, his eye catching the calendar and today's date. Yanking open the door he yelled out, "This better not be an April Fool's joke." Kim threw her head back and laughed, "Well that explains why Platt made me pick her up this morning." She turned around and shook her head, "The only fool here is me, no jokes. We're going to have it all." With that she turned and ran down the stairs as Adam watched. Today would be better he thought smiling as he closed the door and got ready for work.
See, I fixed it? :)
