Just a random short I made while I was supposed to be doing my art assignment. Centers around a she-cat pairing, so if you don't like that you have been warned, yadayadayada. I mean, technically you can just call it platonic, so... Yup. Enjoy!

Songwillow paced, her fluffy, light gray tail flicking anxiously from side to side.

"Grrr!" A sound came from the bushes. Songpaw's fur bushed out, and her nervous gaze flicked from side to side. Suddenly, a flash of ginger slammed into her side and she tumbled down into a ditch, rolling through the lush dark green undergrowth, splashing into a small stream. Small gray fish darted away over the pebbles that made up the bottom, and Songpaw's gray fur slicked down, soaking wet, as she scrambled to her paws on the shifting pebbles.

"Hey!" She hissed, pulling away from her attacker. A smile stretched across the cat's face, and she started purring, shaking out her pelt and spattering the apprentice with droplets of water. Songpaw stared at her in disbelief,

"I'm Bee, who are you?" The ginger she-cat, who looked about her age, purred, flicking her tail at Songpaw.

"Songpaw." She replied hesitantly.

She waited, hoping the loner would arrive soon. It seemed like it had been lifetimes since she saw her, even if it had only been two moons ago, as Bee had missed the last meeting.

"Why do I seem to keep running into you?" Bee laughed, leaning forwards just slightly across the border and nuzzling her. Songpaw's heart seemed to freeze, and her muscles tensed up, but not in fear.

"Maybe because i've been looking for you." She replied simply, a grin curling her muzzle. Bee laughed, sounding like the tinkling chimes the twolegs had in their gardens.

A flash of ginger fur lit up her vision, as it had that first day, and she rushed forwards to meet her. Instead, a tall ginger and white tom stood, his head bowed in sadness.

"Bee!" Songwillow cheered, leaping out of a low branch to tackle her. They rolled around, giggling like kits on the soft green grass.

"Songwillow. It's nice to see you again." Bee replied purring loudly, pinned underneath her. She leaned up and gently licked her muzzle, and Songwillow stopped for a moment before a purr rumbled out of her throat. Suddenly, Songwillow noticed a tall, lanky tom with a ginger and white pelt standing where Bee had been.

"This is my brother." Bee explained as Songwillow panickedly scrambled backwards, ready to fight. The tom dipped his head in greeting.

"Whe- Where's Bee?" Songwillow asked, a chill settling in her stomach. Hornet's head sank sadly, and Songwillow closed her eyes as though she could avoid the reality.

The rising sun shone its light onto Songwillow's eyes, and they slowly opened, panic settling in. She leapt to her paws, jostling Bee in the process. The loner's eyes widened.

"Your clan! You have to get back!" She started nudging Songwillow down the hill, a few fox-lengths from the familiar stream that led to where they had first met. Songwillow braced her paws, and turned back to Bee.

"I love you." She murmured, before racing away to her clan, leaving Bee staring after her, mouthing something that could've been a promise, or a prayer. But Songwillow thought she had said, "I love you," back.

"How?" Songwillow asked, her gaze flicking up to the tom's green eyes, a river of tears hiding the anger boiling in his stare.

"She saved a rogue, pushing him out of the way of a monster. She didn't even know him."

"What's your greatest fear?" Songwillow blurted out, before inwardly cursing herself. Bee shrugged, meeting her gaze, their tails still twined as they lay on the hill overlooking the twolegplace, the small stream beside them adding a gentle trickle to the quiet calls of birds. After a moment of near silence, cut through by the gentle song of the robins, Bee replied,

"I think.. Dying. Not being dead, but dying. What does it feel like?" She wondered aloud. Songwillow's eyes widened slightly. Hers was the horses at the horseplace, the russet stallion especially, but she felt silly saying that now.

"You're not going to die." She replied, nudging the loner. Bee turned to her, her gaze solemn.

"Don't make empty promises, Song. We're all going to die someday."

Songwillow felt her eyes moisten, and when she opened her mouth to speak, she choked. Bending her head down, she sobbed. Hornet's steady facade fell away, and he joined her, their tears watering the ground below them, maybe slipping away to join the stream.

Ye. I just made it earlier today and decided, "heck with it, maybe someone will like this." The memory style, although i'm sure others have done it, is based off of Falling Embers by FizzNBoo (who is awesome, go check them out). Yyyuuuuppp, that's all for now. See ya! Also I can't come up with a good name for this, so it's marked as "River of Tears," so please, suggest a name if you want. Although I can't guarantee i'll change it. Ooh, and happy April fools day!
