AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have no idea if I will ever continue this, so I will mark it as complete for now. I just wanted to share what I have so far since it's a shame for it to be stored away collecting dust.
Allen Walker was never really fond of the man he had been assigned to as a guardian angel. The guy was always getting into fights over petty things. This was one of those times.
Kanda Yuu was just taking a walk through town when a teen a bit younger than himself bumped into him while running at full speed. Kanda, not expecting it, stumbled backwards into a telephone pole. Quickly recovering, Kanda grabbed the teen by his shirt before he could run off which in turn made the boy scream. The scream attracted the attention of a local gang that the teen belonged to.
Kanda, being the stubborn idiot he was, immediately began yelling at the gang members for the teen bumping into him. This quickly escalated into a fight. Allen watched in utter horror as Kanda beat the weaker ones to a pulp before the leader stepped in. For a while it seemed as if the two were equal in strength.
Allen, having had enough of this idiocy, screamed at Kanda. "What the bloody hell are you doing!? All the boy did was bump into you! How the hell does that lead to a bloody fist fight with a gang!?"
Kanda, surprised by the sudden outburst, turned to look at the angel boy who was hovering in the air a few feet away. As a result, he didn't see the gang leader throw a punch towards him, which ended up knocking him unconscious for a good hour, but not before mouthing one question towards the angel. "Who the hell are you?"
Allen just sighed in exasperation as the teen managed to convince the gang leader to let him deal with Kanda and dragged Kanda into a nearby alleyway where he left him to recover before running off.
When he finally woke up, Kanda's first thought was of how his jaw hurt. His second thought was of how he had gotten to this alleyway when the last place he remembered was the main street. His last thought was of the angel boy in front of him. The boy seemed to be around his age, if not younger, but had pure white hair and silverish lavender eyes. On the boy's back was a pair of pure white feathered wings. He also noticed that the boy's entire left arm was pitch black but chose to ignore that. Said boy was currently in front of Kanda seeming to ask him a question. "Huh?"
The boy just rolled his eyes and repeated his question. "I was asking if you were able to stand so we could get home. I guess you were too busy staring to really notice. I was kinda starting to wonder if you had gotten a concussion."
Kanda frowned as he stared at the boy. "Why the hell do you care? You don't even know me and I don't know you."
The boy just went silent before smiling politely. "Of course I know you. I'm your guardian angel. My name is Allen."
Kanda glared at the boy, thinking that this was just all an elaborate prank concocted by a certain idiotic rabbit. "Whatever, Moyashi."
Allen, a bit offended by the nickname, just sighed. "My name is Allen, Bakanda. And it's quite obvious that you don't believe me. If it truly were a prank by that friend of yours, Lavi, he would be somewhere nearby watching it happen. But seeing as he lives in a different city at the moment, it would be impossible for him to be here for it. And you should know that Lavi wouldn't attempt a prank this elaborate if he was unable to be there to see the target's reaction. Also, I can be used as proof that this isn't a prank. Only you should be able to see or hear me. Although, it took you forever to finally notice me. I've been following you around for 3 years now and not once have you shown any sign of noticing me until just an hour ago." Allen finished with a huff as he looked away towards the main street.
Kanda furrowed his brow in thought as he actually took in the information he was just given. "Wait… you've been following me around for 3 years? What are you, a stalker?"
Allen groaned in frustration as he turned to Kanda. "I already told you. I'm your guardian angel! I'm supposed to follow you around!"
Kanda just shrugged and got up to head home. His jaw still hurt from the punch he received from the gang leader and his body was a bit sore from having laid on the concrete ground of the alleyway, but other than that he was just fine. Allen seemed a bit relieved to know that as he followed Kanda back to his house, not one person questioning why he was floating in the air instead of walking behind Kanda. Kanda, on the other hand, seemed a bit unnerved by it. He knew that if it was a prank done by Lavi and that everything the boy said was a lie, then people should have at the very least glanced twice in his direction, but nobody seemed to notice the white haired boy at all. By this time, Kanda was pretty much ready to believe the nonsense the boy had been spouting about being his guardian angel.
When he got back to his apartment, he turned to see Allen phasing through the door which he had closed out of habit. "That is creepy. You just went right through the door."
Allen just shrugged and looked around the apartment as if looking for something to do. Kanda just shook his head and headed towards the bathroom for a shower. He would deal with the Moyashi later. Right now he needed to relax and calm down since he was still slightly pissed at that gang. It wasn't until he was already in the shower and washing his hair that he noticed the Moyashi had followed him into the bathroom. He glared at the angel as he growled under his breath. "What the hell are you doing in here?"
Allen raised an eyebrow at him. "Really? It's not like I haven't already seen you naked before. As I'm pretty sure I've already told you, I've been following you around for three years now. You just haven't noticed me until recently. As such, I've followed you into the bathroom plenty of times before." Allen suddenly grinned rather mischievously. "I've even seen you doing more than just washing yourself while in the shower. Masturbating to that one crush of yours in junior high. Totally unrequited love. He deserved what he got for flat out rejecting you the way he did."
Kanda flushed bright red at the idea of being seen mastrubating, uncharacteristically turning into a tomato. Suddenly, he noticed something the Moyashi said and paled. "You were the reason he went missing!?"
Allen looked over at Kanda, a bit surprised that he had been able to make that connection. "Well, I am your guardian angel. He hurt you in one of the worst ways possible. He broke your heart so completely that if Lavi hadn't been there for you, it was highly likely you would have ended up killing yourself from depression. I only gave him what he deserved for hurting you the way he did."
Kanda frowned at him before looking away. "The way you say that sounds as if you were a crazy yandere stalker or something and not a guardian angel."
Allen just shrugged and landed next to the door to lean against the bathroom wall. "A lot of the other guardian angels say that I can be more of a devil at times when my black side comes out. I don't really know what they are talking about when they say that but I guess it has to do with me being a bit overprotective even for a guardian angel. I guess the correct phrasing would be that I get too attached."
Kanda frowned more in confusion. "It sounds like you've done this before. Were you someone else's guardian angel before me?"
Allen frowned as he thought about whether or not to tell Kanda about his past. He sighed as he decided to go ahead and tell him. "As you've already guessed, you are not the first one I've been assigned to as a guardian angel. I've been bounced around from person to person. They keep saying that I get too attached and they have to remove me from the situation, but I don't see how…" He sighed softly and looked down at his feet, kicking at air. "I really don't want to get reassigned again. I may not be too fond of you and your violent nature, but I do take pride in my job as a guardian angel. Getting reassigned is pretty much the same as being told you failed in your job." He looked back up to see Kanda getting out of the shower and looked away quickly.
Kanda stayed silent as he dried his body off and got dressed. He looked at the angel boy and frowned as he noticed the solemn expression on his face. "Why would you get reassigned? I'm in perfect health and rarely ever get hurt. You might have gone a bit too far with that one guy, but it seems to me like you have been doing your job just fine."
Allen whipped his head around to look at Kanda in disbelief. "Wha… Kanda?! Did you just defend me!?"
Kanda scoffed and brushed past Allen to exit the bathroom. "As if, Moyashi. You're hearing things." Kanda refused to look at Allen, trying to hide the slight blush on his face.
Allen smiled happily and followed Kanda out of the bathroom. "You did! You did defend me just now! Am I already growing on you? It's only been a few hours since you first saw me! That's great Kanda! I'll make sure I continue to do my job properly so I actually deserve that trust you have in me!"
Kanda rolled his eyes and ignored the stupid bean sprout as he went to the kitchen to find something to eat. Allen frowned as he noticed Kanda begin to make his usual soba. "I've been wanting to say this for awhile now, but you really need to eat more than just soba everyday. You may be in perfect health now, but that is only gonna last so long with you eating soba all the time. It isn't healthy. A well balanced meal is best for long lasting health. I don't mind you eating soba for lunch everyday, but breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can't stand by and watch that! You need to eat healthier meals for breakfast and dinner! I would say give up the soba completely, but I've seen how much you like it and so I've come up with this compromise. Eat a healthy breakfast, indulge in your soba for lunch, then eat another healthy meal for dinner. I know you can cook. I've seen you do it for that Lenalee girl before."
Kanda glared at Allen as he started to rant about his diet. "Shut up Moyashi! I'll eat whatever the hell I want!"
Allen frowned as he grabbed the bowl of soba and moved it out of Kanda's reach. "I'm only trying to do my job, Kanda! My job is to make sure you live a long and healthy life! Your diet is part of that!"
Kanda growled ferally as Allen took his bowl of soba from him. "Give it back! Now!"
Allen sighed and shook his head. "Promise me you'll start a new diet tomorrow first. Then I'll give it back. If you can't promise me that, I will remove all soba from this house starting with the bowl in my hands."
Kanda glared daggers at Allen before huffing and looking away. "Fine! Whatever! I'll eat healthier from now on. Now give me my soba damn it!"
Allen smiled and handed the bowl of soba back to Kanda. "There! Was that really so hard?" Kanda glared at Allen as he slurped his soba. Allen sighed and backed off a few steps. "I just want you to stay healthy, Kanda. It's a necessary evil."
Kanda growled quietly as he finished his soba. "You are only doing it cause it's your job. If it weren't for that, you wouldn't even be here. So stop acting like you actually care!" Allen flinched slightly at Kanda's words before forcing himself to smile. He turned and flew off, phasing through the wall to exit the apartment.
Kanda frowned as he saw Allen's smile before he flew off. He sighed heavily, suddenly feeling bad for snapping at the Moyashi. "Damn it… I really am hopeless at socializing…" He quickly washed his bowl and placed it to the side to dry. He then exited the apartment, heading up to the rooftop garden.
As he reached the roof, he noticed Allen off to the side sitting on top of the swingset. Allen, as if sensing Kanda's presence, looked over at him before huffing and looking away. Kanda sighed softly as he went over to one of the flowerbeds, tending to the orchids and lilies he had growing there. "I guess I deserve the silent treatment…" Kanda continued to tend to the flowerbeds silently, removing any weeds and pests by hand before watering them.
As he was finishing up with the last flower bed he heard the door to the roof open. The voice he heard next made him freeze. "So you're the one who is caring for these flowers! I was wondering who was growing them! They're beautiful!" Allen glared at the person, suddenly next to Kanda.
Kanda looked up at the person, uncharacteristically nervous as he whispered the guy's name. "Alma…"
Said guy looked surprised as Kanda said his name. "How do you know my name? Do I know you?" He narrowed his eyes at Kanda before going wide eyed. "Oh! You're that gay dude that confessed to me a few years back! Should have known I couldn't get away from you. Creep…"
Kanda looked down at the ground, unable to say anything back to his previous crush. Suddenly, Allen was next to Alma, his eyes glowing softly as he glared at the boy. Alma shivered slightly as if sensing Allen's glare and turned to head back inside. Allen growled softly and slammed the roof door closed before Alma could get to it, making Alma flinch and start shaking in fear. "Wh-what!? Is this place haunted or something!? No! That had to be the wind! Except there is no wind right now…" Alma started to panic, obviously not good at dealing with the supernatural.
Allen scoffed at the boy's display of weakness and walked over to him, not stopping until there was less than an inch between them. Alma froze, suddenly able to see Allen. Allen glared at Alma as he whispered threateningly. "You stay away from Kanda. You have already hurt him enough. If I ever see you around here again and I won't hesitate to throw you off the roof."
Alma quickly nodded before running over to the door and flinging it open. He didn't even look back once as he ran away from Allen, thinking he was a ghost.
Kanda was oblivious to the exchange, lost in his own mind as he started having a panic attack. Allen was quickly at his side, rubbing his back gently. "It's okay Kanda. He's gone now. He won't hurt you anymore." When Kanda wouldn't calm down, Allen frowned slightly before pulling Kanda into a hug. He held him close as he started humming softly, trying to get Kanda to calm down.
Kanda slowly relaxed in Allen's arms, nearly falling asleep. Allen chuckled quietly as he noticed Kanda falling asleep. "Kanda. You can't sleep here. You'll catch a cold." He nudged Kanda gently to wake him up. Kanda grunted his acknowledgement and slowly stood up. Allen frowned slightly at Kanda's lack of words, but decided not to question him right now as he led Kanda back to his apartment.
Back at the apartment, Allen led Kanda to his bedroom and Kanda laid down, curling up into a ball under the covers. Allen frowned as he watched Kanda, obviously worried about him. "Kanda… I can't help if you don't tell me what's wrong."
Kanda just looked over at Allen blankly before sighing heavily. "It doesn't matter."
Allen sighed angrily at that as he sat down on the bed next to Kanda. "Are you still on about earlier?"
Kanda flinched slightly at the anger in Allen's tone before looking away. Allen sighed and forced himself to take a few deep breaths to calm down. Once calm, he leaned over until he was half laying on top of Kanda. "I'm not mad at you. Not anymore. I know you regret saying what you did earlier. I'm mad at that guy for hurting you again."
Kanda just looked away from him, choosing to stare at the wall. Allen sighed as he shifted to lay on top of Kanda fully. "You were right though. At first, all I really thought about was doing my job. After three years of watching you though, I came to truly care for you. Even if I don't really like your violent attitude. It's because I've come to truly care that seeing you like this hurts… if I didn't think it would upset you more, I would have shoved him off the roof immediately."
Kanda just listened silently, refusing to look at the angel boy on top of him. Allen frowned as Kanda still continued to stare at the wall. "Kanda… look at me… please?" Kanda sighed and looked up at Allen, his eyes wet from barely held back tears. Allen sighed and leaned down to kiss Kanda's forehead. "It's okay to cry. It's just the two of us and no one but you can see or hear me."
Kanda frowned slightly at Allen's words. "But Alma saw you… that's why he ran away right?"
Allen frowned slightly in thought. "Yeah… but I think that situation was different… All I was thinking about was protecting you from him… and I couldn't do that if he couldn't see me… so I guess I willed myself to be seen by him?"
Kanda scoffed quietly at that. "So you're saying you don't even know how it happened. How are you supposed to be able to do it next time then?"
Allen blinked in surprise as Kanda scoffed at him before giggling at his words. "I'd rather there not be a next time. But if there is, I will have practiced so that I can do it intentionally instead of leaving it up to chance." Kanda rolled his eyes at the Moyashi, suddenly in a much better mood.
Allen smiled softly, sensing Kanda's better mood. He then shifted so he was straddling Kanda's hips. Kanda blushed as he finally noticed their positions. "Hey! Moyashi! Get off of me!" He reached up to push Allen away.
Allen just giggled and grabbed Kanda's wrists, pinning them to the bed. "No. I don't wanna. You're finally in a good mood and you're finally trusting me." He leaned down to nuzzle into Kanda's neck, causing Kanda to blush more. "Let me enjoy it Kanda. You're the first one to be able to see me, let alone trust me like this. The others could never see me and you can't trust something if you don't know it's there."
Kanda sighed softly and relaxed, unable to argue with him. "Fine. If you start doing anything I don't like though, I will be shoving you into the floor."
Allen giggled at Kanda's halfhearted threat before releasing his wrists to wrap his arms around Kanda's torso in a hug. "Thanks Kanda. I really appreciate it. I've always wanted to try hugging someone, but the other guardian angels won't come near me and all the other people I've been assigned to were never able to see me. You're the first one to be able to see me and accept me for who I am. I know you've noticed my left arm… I'm grateful you never mentioned it or seemed bothered by it. The other angels say I'm cursed because of it and stay away from me in fear of being affected by this curse." Allen sighed sadly as he cuddled close to Kanda, nuzzling into his neck again.
Kanda frowned as he listened to Allen speak, wrapping his arms around Allen's waist and holding him in place. "Who cares if it's cursed. You are one of the nicest people I've met, Moyashi. And I can tell you take your job seriously. I don't really like admitting it… but I'm glad to have you around." Kanda looked away as he mumbled that last part causing Allen to giggle at him.
Allen smiled and leaned down to kiss Kanda's cheek. "Thank you Kanda. It means a lot to me that you would say all that." Allen sighed contentedly as he laid his head on Kanda's chest, relaxing completely.
Kanda rolled his eyes at Allen's words, thinking them to be obvious. He let a small smile work its way onto his face as he heard the Moyashi's content sigh. "Do you plan to use me as a bed, Moyashi?"
Allen giggled and cuddled closer to Kanda. "If you don't mind."
Kanda sighed and resigned himself to being the angel's bed for one night. "Fine. I'm too tired to argue anyway. Go to sleep, Moyashi."
Allen smiled as Kanda closed his eyes to go to sleep himself. He shifted so his legs were laying next to Kanda's while his upper half laid on top of Kanda. "Good night Yuu." He closed his eyes and relaxed as he cuddled close to Kanda, falling asleep within seconds.
Kanda flushed a bright red at the Moyashi's use of his first name, it having taken him by surprise. He sighed quietly as he noticed that the Moyashi was already asleep. "Good night Allen." Within a few seconds Kanda was asleep too, unable to see the smile that had made its way onto Allen's face as Kanda said his name.
