Summary: "'Miss Swann, how many times do ye want me to have to pull ye up from the bottom o' the ocean?'" Jack convinces Elizabeth to let him show her how to swim. Set in COTBP. One-shot.

Prompt: Write about a character (or group of characters) trying to convince another character to try something they're scared of.

Wasn't Once Enough?

"Ye're afraid o' the water?" Jack Sparrow asked the sole companion on the island with him, an eyebrow raised skeptically.

Elizabeth Swann- said companion- nodded.

"Why? Ye swam well enough to get 'ere to begin with."

"You can hardly call that swimming."

"But that's what it was, love." He pointed out, amused. "What else would it be?"

She glanced away from him, back over the distant, empty horizon. "I was terrified, nothing more. It's a miracle I managed that."

"Well, since there's nothin' better to do 'ere, I might 's well..."

"What?"

"'M goin' to teach ye how to swim. Properly." Jack declared, climbing to his feet, the sand shifting beneath them. He waved his arms at her. "Come on. Up."

She stared at him, not moving from where she was seated.

Bloody stubborn girl. He rolled his eyes, stifling a sigh at her lack of reaction. "Miss Swann, how many times do ye want me to have to pull ye up from the bottom o' the ocean? Wasn't once enough?"

"I suppose." She muttered unenthusiastically, getting up and starting into the waves.

He watched her for a moment, making note of how difficult it was going to be if she kept her attitude up. With a shake of his head, he waded into the water after her.

This ought be interesting, I reckon.
