Attention:
Draco and Hermione had been dating for almost a year now. Well known to the school, they were the "Hot couple" both very attractive. Draco had the respect of Slytherin, and Hermione had the respect of Gryffindor. They were the glue which held the two houses together. The Ravenclaws admires their intelligence, and Hufflepuffs were just happy that everyone got along. The school was in harmony. And it hadn't been for a very long while.
Harry had defeated Voldemort last year. After Dumbledore was killed, Voldemort had come to hogwarts. It turned out that Dumbledore had gotten the last few horcruxes before he died. All it took was Ron to kill the snake, Harry to die then come back and kill Voldemort. Without a strong leader, his forces went into hiding. Either being caught by aurors, found and sentenced. Most remained in hiding. Afraid of the consequences they'd face if they continued their old ways.
Harry and Ron hadn't returned. They were given trainee Jobs as Aurors. Hermione too had been offered one, turning it down in the preference of finishing her NEWTs. It later came out that Draco had given a lot of insight into horcruxes and was a leading cause in the winning of the war. He was given a clean slate. Cleared of all charges. His mother too. His father however was sent to Azkaban. Which Draco never spoke about. But Narcissa, who was an outcast of the Dark side, and whilst not given hostility from the light side wasn't their prime member of society, she was happy without Lucius, but mostly kept to the Manor. Only rarely seen in Hogsmede for shopping.
Draco and Hermione, along with many other students spent the long summer rebuilding the castle, and were awarded positions in the new school. McGonagal had refused the role of head teacher, so the professors, prefects and two heads had decided on a new Headmaster. Jeffery Pickle.
The Ministry (Rebuilt following the take over) made the decision to retake the previous year as it was last so distorted with Voldemort and Dumbledore dying. Meaning that this year would have 8 years in school, with the additional new 1st Years.
Other teachers who perished in the war, including Snape also had to be replaced, some of the 8th year who returned, including Hermione, Draco, Theo, Zabini, Neville, Seamus and Dean spent days going over applications, references and interviewing staff to make sure that they got new and sufficient teachers, bringing back all of the lessons, including Muggle studies and astonmy, and much to Hermione's dismay; divination. They also debated new classes such as alchemy and languages.
Throughout the Summer, Draco and Hermione had grew close and a month before students returned to school, they begun dating. It was quite a shock for all, but it was a bind that the school desperately craved after the war it had just faced. The pair brought clarity, reason and unity to the houses. And made a strong effort to promote education in students.
They had just begun their 8th year at Hogwarts. Hermione knew from the first day that Pansy Parkinson was up to no good. She had thrown a party for the 8th years. Not uncommon for parties. As heads Hermione and Draco would turn a blind eye and join the festivities as it would increase the bond between houses. However, Pansy's attempt was laughable. All 8th years and most 7th years came.
Hermione and Draco arrived last. Having come from patrols. They walked into the room usually music bounded off the walls and voices and laughter intermingled into one very happy atmosphere. This time there was no echo of laughs. No cheers or moving bodies. Everyone staring at the back of the room. Joining the crowds, Hermione and Draco looked too, and with their peers, bit back a was dancing in rather unattractive lingerie. It was believed the monstrosity her body was moving in was supposed to be a pole dance. But it was less erotic and more embarrassing she was muttering spells, while out of breath from her 'dance'. Making sparks and fire works shoot from her wand
However, no one thought much of it, until she loosened her voice and shouted in the worst attempt at a sultry voice Hermione had ever had the misfortune of hearing.
"Draco Malfoy. How can you stay with HER when you can have this anytime you want?" She asked
"Anything you want Drakey. Anything" she yelled. Everyone now looked at Draco, awaiting his response.
Draco, from the other side of the room. He clicked his fingers and her wand flew out of her hand and into his. Wandless and nonverbal. The room was hooked!
"Pansy. Do you know why I would never soil myself with the likes of you?" He called out. She looked at him with what she thought was a pout but what looked more like a sulk
"Hermione doesn't try to embarrass herself to get me. She turns me on by talking to me. Making me feel special. Loved. Her intelligence can't be beaten, no matter how hard I try. Her body is remarkable but she doesn't show it off. That makes it more special when she shows it to me. And she doesn't make a scene. Because it's our private lives. We don't have to make a point of our love. And if you still don't believe me when I say she is my one. My other half" Draco said. He held his hand down to her and pulled her up onto the table
"I love you Hermione" he whispered so only she could hear
"I love you too Draco" she replied. He placed his lips to hers, kissing her slowly. Softly. He didn't deepen the kiss. The couple were against public displays of affection. Especially being heads. After 20 seconds or so they broke apart to applause. That was the first proper kiss they had shared in front of people. Sure they held hands and hugged a lot. And the occasional peck on the lips, cheek or forehead. But this was a step for them both.
The couple looked over to Pansy who was now awkwardly climbing off the stage she had created. Not wanting to take up too much attention away from the party and both slightly turned on, they got down, said their greetings and made their way back to their common room. Draco thanked his lucky stars that Hermione wasn't an attention seeker like Pansy was.
