And I wanna give a birthday shoutout to my best friend, AriesBalorPrincess. These two chapters are dedicated to you! Love you!

My name is Tara Caine. I'm the older sister of Avengers member, Amber Caine. I have powers like my sister, the only difference is that I control ice while she controls fire. But unlike my sister, I have a dark past that I would rather not bring up and keep hidden from everyone.

I logged on to my computer as I drank some coffee and watched for activity in S.H.I.E.L.D. To make a long story short, I'm a former Hydra agent. With Hydra, I went by the name Clarissa Davis. When I joined Hydra, there was no way I was gonna reveal my real name or let them figure out my powers. I also didn't want my sister involved with them.

I knew about S.H.I.E.L.D. being compromised by Hydra agents over the years, although I wouldn't get involved, or at least I hadn't planned to until Amber joined the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.

I knew I couldn't stay on for long since Sam would be coming back shortly. After the battle of New York, Amber moved to Malibu, California and I moved here to Washington, D.C., where Sam and I moved in together. He was an old friend of mine I met online and we became best friends. Of course, Amber always had to tease me about him. I then thought about my past with Hydra and a certain someone who was being manipulated by Hydra. Someone that I shouldn't care about but still fell for them, even now I have those feelings.

I looked at my laptop as I hacked into their system. I wouldn't be detected due to me being a genius at it. It was one of the reasons Hydra hired me was because of my computer skills, and then eventually, they trained me as an assassin. After working with them for a few years, I defected when they began taking an interest in my sister. Of course after that, Hydra considered me a threat because I knew things and they sent their assassin after me but I managed to escape.

I was the only target to live and tell the tale but of course, I'm still a major target. I then heard the door open and close in the other room. I quickly shut off my laptop and headed to the living room and saw Sam getting some water. "So, enjoy your run, Sam?" I asked jokingly while heading to the kitchen to get something to eat.

"I did actually. Met Steve Rogers himself." Sam said, almost proud.

"Ah. So, Amber's teammate is here now, huh?" I asked, not really interested, finished with making my sandwich. Despite them being heroes along with my sister, I never took an interest in S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers.

"Yeah he is. Past me three times." Sam said and I snorted.

"For once, someone out-did you." I laughed as I sat down.

"Very funny." Sam said. "So, have you talked to Amber?" Sam asked as he sat across from me.

"Yeah, apparently her and Tony got back together for good this time." I said while shrugging. Sam chuckled at that. He knew about Amber and Tony's on and off relationship from me. "So, do you need help at the PTSD group today?"

"Not really but you can still come and help if you want." Sam replied. I nodded.

"I just might. I'm not in the mood to stay home right now." I said while shrugging.

Later that day, Sam and I headed to the group meeting and I helped everyone be comfortable and handed out drinks or snacks if anyone wanted them. Some of their stories broke my heart. I hated seeing people suffer. I heard the door open and I saw Steve himself watching the meeting.

After the meeting, Sam and I walked over to Steve. "Look who it is. The running man." Sam joked. I just rolled my eyes at his antics.

"Caught the last few minutes." Steve said and he then looked at me and he said, "Steve Rogers." He introduced as he put out his hand.

"Tara Caine." I said and we shook hands.

"You're Amber's sister, right? She's told me a little about you." Steve said with a small smile.

"Yup and likewise." I said, smiling back.

"The meeting was pretty intense." Steve said, looking at Sam.

"Yeah, brother, we all got the same problems. Guilt, regret." Sam explained.

"You lose someone?" Steve asked, curiously.

"My wingman, Riley. Flying a night mission. Standard PJ rescue op, nothing we hadn't done a thousand times before, till RPG knocked Riley's dumbass out of the sky. Nothing I could do. It's like I was up there just to watch." Sam explained. He told me the story a while back.

"I'm sorry." Steve said.

"After that, I had a really hard time finding a reason for being over there, you know?" Sam replied.

"But you're happy now, back in the world?" Steve asked.

"Hey, the number of people giving me orders is down to about zero. So, hell, yeah. You think about getting out?" Sam asked. I looked at him curiously.

"No, I don't know. To be honest, I don't know what I would do with myself if I did." Steve said unsure.

"How about Ultimate Fighting?" I suggested, jokingly. "Or boxing?" I added. Steve and Sam laughed at that. "It's just a great idea off the top of my head." I said while smirking. "But seriously, you could do whatever you want to do. What makes you happy?" I asked afterward. Despite being a soldier for S.H.I.E.L.D., he deserved to be happy and do what he loved.

"I don't know." Steve said still unsure. Hopefully, he would figure out his path, because if what I've been keeping track of about SHIELD is true, things are about to hit the fan.

And that's the end, I'll have the second chapter up here shortly. Hope you all enjoyed and let me know what you think. See ya.
