Hey everyone !

This is my first fanfiction about an anime that I loved. But like a lot of fans, I was very disappointed about the ending, so I decided to write my own ending of the story.

Of course, I don't own any of the characters nor the avatar, but the story is mine.

I don't speak English very well, so there can be some mistakes on the fanfiction. If yes please excuse me.

Don't forget to make it favourite & review please !

Enjoy !

Changed from the canon: Akaba Reo fights against Zarc the Supreme Dragon. Meanwhile, Reyra returns to Academia in search of the Arc-V machine, from which she hears the voice of Ray Akaba.

She climbed with difficulty to the top of the machine, which diffused a pale green light, bright and soft. A tall figure suddenly rose from the center and slowly approached her. She narrowed her eyes to try to make out this person. It was Ray, Akaba Reo's daughter.

She knelt down in front of the little girl, who looked at her in wonder.

"Thanks for finding me. Will you take me to Zarc?"

Reyra looked serious again and nodded.

Reo had failed. He had tried using the Magic En Flowers, En Moon, En Winds and En Birds cards that had divided Zarc the first time, but Zarc had managed to destroy them without any problem. Now the Professor was down to a few hit points and the demon was about to inflict piercing damage on him when a monster suddenly stepped in and took the attack for him.

Tsukikage had protected him and his son Reiji by putting them aside. But it wasn't his monster that took the attack, and Reo knew it. After recovering from the shock, he searched for where he had come from. Zarc, furious that his attack had failed, did the same.

"Who dared to stand in front of me?" he thundered.

"It's me !"

And Ray showed up.

*** Fight against Zarc ***

"Yuya!" cried half a dozen voices.

"I… am… not… Yuya!" Zarc replied, furious.

His brightly colored hair whipped in the wind, he stood up. He still looked like Yuya, but Yuya had returned to his human form. Ray's attack had shattered him: despite his yellow eyes shining with savage hatred, he looked tired, injured, sweating profusely and staggering, nearly falling to the ground several times. His broken glasses and torn clothes made him pitiful.

Ray walked over to him, but he stepped back. She opened her arms reassuringly. Her father nearly choked.

"Don't come near me!" growled Zarc.

"Ray, no!" Reo pleaded.

But she still moved forward, her gaze fixed on Zarc, aware that the others were riveted on them. She said in a soft voice that surprised everyone:

"Zarc, stop this madness, please."

Some exchanged incredulous looks. Was Ray trying to buy time, or was she really trying to reason with the demon?

Obviously, Zarc was asking the same question.

"Don't come near me!"

"Ray, get away from him!" Reo cried, distraught at his daughter's behavior.

"My turn !" Zarc roared.

Ray prepared to counterattack.

"I'm activating a Quick-Play Spell card, Smile Universe," Zarc said, doing so. I can Special Summon all Pendulum monsters in my Extra Deck, but their effect is negated.

"Oh no, Haôryû is back!" Gongenzaka said.

And indeed, the Supreme Dragon had returned, dark and colossal, as well as Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Yuya's fetish dragon.

"So it's still not Yuya?" Sawatari shouted, desperate.

"I told you, Zarc!" Ray called out loudly. "Even if you come back, I will come back every time to keep you from destroying anything!"

"Shut up !" Zarc retorted in the same tone. "If you've made up your mind to stop me, then I'll be waiting for you, you dirty kid!"

"Go ahead, Ray! her father encouraged her. "Destroy this demon!"

She nodded and picked up:

"Thanks to the effect of En Flowers, I can negate the effect of all monsters on the field and destroy them. And for each monster sent to the graveyard, its owner receives 500 damage points!"

The four bracelets began to shine again; and once again, the monsters of Zarc, bathed in the soft light of the moon, surrounded by birds and rose petals, rocked by the wind, were destroyed one after the other.

"You ..." Zarc roared, as his points dropped to 500 health. "I promise you… You'll pay me !"

Without any monster to carry it, the demon fell heavily to the ground. Ray rushed over to him.

"Ray, what are you doing ?!" her father shouted at her.

But she paid no attention to him. She knelt down, detailing the many wounds on Zarc / Yuya's tired body, and the large dark circles under his eyes. After a lot of effort, he managed to stand up, slowly, his golden eyes still shining, but vague. Ray grabbed a bloodstained arm to help him up. But his weak body swayed and he fell into her arms, his hands gripping her shoulders, his head hitting the girl's chest.

It looked like time had stood still. Everyone gathered around them - Reo, Reiji, Kurosaki, Kaito, Edo, Sora, Gongenzaka, Sawatari, Tsukikage, Reyra, Crow and Jack - held their breath, waiting for something to happen; But nothing happened. The inhabitants of the four dimensions, feeling the same tension gradually take hold of them, did not dare to open their mouths, for fear of breaking the heavy silence that had suddenly set in. Even the wind had died down. Everyone was watching Ray and Zarc, glued to each other, silent and still.

She felt his grip on her shoulders tighten and loosen to the rhythm of his heavy breathing; he could feel the rapid beating of his heart under his sweaty forehead. She felt her hair tickling her face; he felt her shoulders supporting him so that he didn't collapse. She put her arms around his back and stroked him gently.

He painfully lifted his head and stared into Ray's eyes, seeming to be looking for a sign only he knew. Then, in a whisper so faint that no one except Ray could hear, he whispered a few words to her, sketching a barely perceptible smile, a weak smile, full of warmth, and, oddly, relief. Reo saw his daughter's eyes widen in amazement, but before she approached, Zarc - or whoever he was - slumped down on the girl again. She leaned down, her eyes filled with concern - and still amazement, albeit slightly muted - and whispered, a little hesitantly:

"Zarc?"

No answer. She still smelled of the demon's labored breath, but nothing else. Suddenly, at first very weak, then louder and louder, a growl came out of his throat and Zarc, with impressive force despite his condition, pushed Ray, who fell to the ground. He was going to jump on her when ...

Everything happened very quickly.

Reo activated the "Impact Restriction Swords" card in his hand, and a series of red daggers popped up out of nowhere and nailed Zarc - or Yuya - to a nearby wall. Bright yellow bonds appeared at the impact points of the swords, blocking his limbs and body.

"Release me! RELEASE ME!"

He struggled furiously, but his bonds prevented him from moving.

"Dad ?!"

Ray scrambled to her feet and approached her father.

"Dad, what are you doing?" she asked him, worried.

"Ray, my dear," Reo replied, giving her a smile that was tender and sad at the same time. "I missed you so much ..."

He turned to Zarc, who was still struggling, and an expression of hatred and disgust filled his features.

"This demon has already harmed enough in my opinion," he spat. "I think it's time to end its miserable existence."

""Impact Restriction Swords" ..." interjected Reiji. "That was Sakaki Yusho's trap card, right? He had used it against Yuya during our Duel ..."

"Exactly," approved his father. "I had taken it during the process of merging the four dimensions, and I had decided to modify it. I figured maybe she could be used, and I'm not disappointed to have picked it up."

Ray looked at him in amazement, but Reo had resumed the Duel.

"This card does not interrupt the Duel but prohibits the opponent from using cards face down or added to their hand. And if he has 1,000 hit points or less, by discarding all the cards in my hand, I can inflict 1000 piercing damage on him!"

A new scarlet dagger appeared above his head and Ray watched in horror as it pointed straight at the demon's heart, well exposed because of the ties that held his arms and legs firmly in place.

Realizing the target of the red dagger, Zarc struggled harder and desperately tried to free himself from his bonds. But his strength was starting to leave him and he breathed hastily, his tired eyes riveted on the glittering dagger that threatened to stab him any second.

To everyone's surprise, Ray got between the dagger and the demon and stared at his father.

"Dad, please don't do this!"

Other people sought to stop the Professor from killing Zarc / Yuya, especially Sora who couldn't bear to see his first and best friend so helpless and vulnerable, even though he had turned into a demonic creature.

"Ray, this demon divided our family and tried twice to destroy the world!" said Reo. "Now we can finally get rid of him for good, and you protect him!"

"Stop," his daughter begged him, "no ..."

"Get away, my daughter, and let me finish this monster once and for all!"

He raised his arm to the dagger above his head and lowered it suddenly.

Cries resounded. Parents hid the scene from the sight of their children. Zarc/Yuya heard Ray scream. A red lightning sliced through the air at full speed, in the direction of his heart. He closed his eyes.

Suddenly, he felt a black mass invade his field of vision and shuddered when an icy object pierced his arm.

But before I could even open my eyes to try to figure out what had just happened, a huge explosion sounded. A rain of rubble fell on his head and a second later everything was gone.

He was lying on a hard surface. His arm threw him up. Her body was heavy. His eyelids too. He tried to open his eyes, to no avail.

A hand moved behind her head and lifted it gently. Another scanned her body, ran up her arm, and finally stroked the palm of her icy hand.

A warm and gentle touch on her frozen skin.

With difficulty, he managed to tighten his fingers on his grip. The hand relaxed. He heard a voice calling him.

"Zarc ... Zarc ... Open your eyes, Zarc!"

He obeys.

Many people had gathered around him. Among them, a boy with blue hair who wore a funny uniform; another with blue eyes and a grey outfit; another, who looked older, with red glasses and grey hair; another, tall and strong, with a red band on his forehead; as well as other individuals with blurred outlines he could not detail.

He could see one person distinctly: leaning over him, his long, flaming hair tickling his face, Ray was looking at him in concern.

"Ray ..." he managed to whisper.

She turned her head and started yelling things at someone he couldn't see. He tried to understand what she was saying, but he couldn't hear any more sound. He only felt the slight pressure of Ray's fingers on his palm, and the touch reassured him.

Suddenly, a stinging pain in his heart made him cry out. Hurt, bruised, he could only clench his teeth and tried to rub his chest with his free hand to ease the pain, the other hand still held by Ray's. The pain made him squint. He felt his strength leaving him again. All the fatigue he had accumulated so far suddenly got the better of him.

Without realizing it, his hand still on his burning heart, he sank into unconsciousness.

End of the prologue.
