A Death Note Story:
"Consequences of the Fallen"
Part One
Matt knew whoever Kira was and how he killed, he had to be face the consequences of his actions with what happened to Mello. Mello's face and the left side of his body was nearly blown off with an encounter with the Kira Task Force.
Mello was resting as comfortably as he could be and was on heavy duty pain medicines, but once everything was done, he'd still be hideously scarred and walk around like a half-burnt corpse with half his face melted off.
His friend was a fighter, but healing would take time. And as Matt sat on the floor next to his friend's bed as Mello slept—both of which were former Wammy House residences, an orphanage in Winchester, England, now residing in America—Matt vowed to get revenge! Kira had to pay!
Matt knew he had to do it discreetly, avoiding any red flags for Kira to pick up on, and the Dark Web was the place to do it. He knew all the in's and out's and friends in places no one would look. He could buy weapons and all manner of items online.
There were so many rumours about Kira that Matt had to decipher between fact and fiction. Still, he had people he could trust. And one person came to mind immediately, a fellow orphan from Wammy House who had a knack for thinking outside the box. She also had an interesting quirk that he adored.
With her at his side, he'd lure Kira out.
And kill the bastard!
With Soichiro's death, the Kira Task Force was down a man, and Light Yagami was in a fowl mood. Mello killed his father. And he'd find the bastard and make him pay!
After returning the original Death Note back to a Shinigami named Sidoh, that Ryuk used to drop, starting this whole Kira affair for Light to pick up, the members of the task force sat around in Light's apartment. Everyone but he were moping and feeling sorry for themselves. Light, on the other hand, was on the hunt for Mello.
They had returned to Japan after their encounter with Mello's mafia gang, saved Sayu from his clutches, and laid his father to rest. Now it was time to get revenge!
Light sat at his computer station in the living room of his apartment that doubled as the Kira headquarters. His fingers soared across the keys of his keyboard and he utilized multiple screens in search of Mello. So far, he had no luck. But he kept at it. He would not let Mello get away. Ryuk said Mello was still alive and had not died in the explosion that caused the death of his father in Mello's hideaway.
Matsuda came over to stand at his side. "Light, you need to rest," the young detective said. "Your father just died. You need time to mourn."
"I need to find him, Matsuda," Light said strongly. "And I won't stop until I do!"
Matsuda cupped Light's shoulder and it caused Light to pause.
Matsuda said nothing further, yet patted Light's shoulder, and then walked away, returning to the couch in the sitting area. Light figured the detective knew nothing he could say would deter Light. And he was right. Nothing in the world would stop from Kira reigning down divine justice upon Mello.
But that's all he had at the moment. Only his father knew Mello's real name, seeing it with the Shinigami Eyes. But he died before he could write it down in the Death Note. If his father had written the name down, his death would not have even in vein.
Rescuing his friend from the fiery explosion of their hideaway had been a task, Matt thought, but it had been a risk that he had been willing to take even if it cost him his own life. Mello was his best friend and anything he wanted Matt to do, he would.
When they left Wammy House, they left together, and travelled around the world, stealing, and doing whatever they needed to do to get by. After arriving in America, (they bounced from state to state, eventually ending up in California), Mello decided it was time to get serious. And he challenged a mob boss, and killed him outright, earning the right to be become that mafia's leader.
Matt's computer skills were essential. And guns were the new commodity of trade, earning Mello's new gang a hefty sum of capital for their operations. It had also aided in trading information to help lure Kira to America. Mello kidnapped Sayu Yagami and tortured her. Kira arrived, but it wasn't sure who on the Kira Task Force was Kira, and yet, the former chief of the National Police Agency in Japan was among them, and Sayu was his daughter. So, if push came to shove, Kira would be among them nonetheless.
But little did Mello realize the tenacity of Kira.
Nevertheless, as Matt arrived to a lowly sleazy motel, leaving Mello in the care of a friend, and knocked on the door to Room 14, a woman opened the door whom Matt knew would be able to help him. She was gorgeous from head to toe, with shoulder-length red-hair, braided, wearing a sexy red dress, and knee-high boots. When he called her, she said she would be waiting for him here.
She pulled him inside and then kissed like a war-torn lovers. He hadn't come here for a romp in the hay, but it was her idiosyncrasy. She was a sex addict. And he allowed what she had in mind to happen. And after recent events, he needed to blow off some steam. And she knew how to blow good.
After two hours, Matt lay in bed next to her and puffed on a cigarette. She went by the name Chastity—a non-de-plume because of Kira, her real name Amber Dayz—and she sat upright, scrolling at her phone.
"So, after everything you laid out for me," Chastity said, "your plan is to get revenge on Kira for Mello?"
"The plan's foolproof," Matt said, extinguishing his butt into an ashtray on a night table. "We go after what Kira holds most dear. He won't be able to resist."
"How do you know Kira will bite? How do you know he will care?"
"Because Kira is a narcissist and he hates leaving things unfinished. I know this because Mello's the same way. He doesn't quit until he gets a job done. Kira wants to kill Mello, but I won't let that happen. I'm going to kill Kira first."
Chastity showed her phone to Matt, on it was a map of Hokkiado-Jozankei Forest. "I found the cabin, it was easy. And a live satellite feed shows activity, two people."
"Perfect!" Matt smiled broadly. "Time for Round Two. Kira followed us to Mello's hideout once, once he learns what I have planned, he'll have no choice but to come again—but this time, he's the one whose going to get a rude awakening."
To be continued...
