"No hard feelings my dear friend. I know all my children will be in good hands once they leave my realm."

-Life to Death, The first comic where Life is introduced, Jenny Jinya.

Life and Death sat in the Lovegood house, listening to Xenophilius Lovegood finish the story of the three gifts Death had given long ago.

"'And the he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, equals, they departed this life.'" As Xenophilius finished, he looked out the window to see if the Snatchers had arrived yet.

"If this old codger wasn't going to betray these three children, I would say I like him." Death crossed their arms over their chest as they turned their attention to the children. Teenagers, if Death wanted to acknowledge the times they were in, language was another odd thing to witness change over several millennia.

"Oh? And what makes you like him so much?" Amusement was in Life's features and Death narrowed their eyes, fully aware Life knew what Death would say next.

Death held up an arm, palm up in Lovegood's direction. "Why is it that whenever a figure does something great in history, they always say it's a man who did it? Oftentimes, it is men who steal from the women as they start all the wars. It's sexist." At the last word, Death dropped their hand and looked at the three children who were now talking amongst themselves. "I like this one because he tells the story as it is."

Life gave a deep chuckle as they looked over his female presenting counterpart. "For a moment, you almost had me convinced that you were speaking as if you identified with the female sex." It was common for both of them to shape shift, changing their hair, their skin, and even their gender as they were technically formless - and more importantly, unseen by most of the humans they watched.

Today, Death had decided to take the form of Pandora Lovegood as Death had an odd sense of humor. Life presented themselves as Andromeda Tonks - two of their favorites from that era.

"I say it as if you created everyone." Death raised a challenging brow. "Don't be cross with me for criticizing your creations. You know that's just how I show my love."

Life smiled, remembering a time where they had hid their feelings - but that was a story for another time. "Ah, then you forget, that I have created every living and breathing thing for you."

If an omnipotent being was capable of melting, Death would have. Before Death could reply, there was a loud BOOM and the second floor of the Lovegood house was caving in.

If they were the wizards Life had created, Life would have pulled Death in close and apparated them away. Being the immortals they were though, they could not touch each other for their existence would cease. Even then, there was no real need when they could simply blink and appear outside - just in time to see Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ronald Weasley escape the clutches of Lord Voldemort one more time.

"I hope we didn't miss anything important while we were talking," Death looked over at Life expectantly.

Life's only response was to shrug, "it's not fair to assume I know anymore than you."

Death rolled their eyes and started to walk through the field, letting the train of the dress roll over the tall grass without a care of it being ruined with dirt. "How bad will the next battle be? I can sense I'll be dealing with a number of souls."

Life's smile dwindled. Life had looked at the Life Loom earlier and had found that on May 2nd, 1998, many lives would be lost. A good number of them being children.

Death hated collecting children.

While Life created every living thing from the blades of grass to The-Chosen-One himself, they could only control so much outside of threading lives together. They were considered gods only by default - there was nothing else like them in the world - something they were all too aware of.

"It takes place at Hogwarts if that gives you an idea."

Death stopped and looked back at Life. When Life finally caught up to Death, Death shifted their form to Regulus Black - a soul that was one of Death's all time favorites. Life also shifted, taking up Regulus' reincarnated form.

A corner of Death's mouth quirked up into a smile as they studied the platinum blonde hair and sharp angles of Life's current face.

"How interesting."
