Izuku's POV
A hiss of pain escaped him as antiseptic was poured over the cut on his forearm. A firm grip on his wrist kept the arm in place. The other hand was already putting down the antiseptic and grabbing gauze.
Tsukauchi growled angrily, "You should have run away damn it! Vigilante or not six on one is far more than you are capable of stopping by yourself."
Izuku flinched and tried to draw himself away from the detective. Tsukauchi had been a close ally of his almost since the beginning. Any time he caught Izuku injured he would insist on treating the wounds.
Originally the treatments would be done in the alleyway. Izuku didnt trust the man not to arrest him to go anywhere else. Slowly but surely though the detective drew him out of his shell and alleyways. It had taken almost two years for Izuku to be comfortable enough with the detective to sit in his apartment while he treated the injuries.
Tsukauchi sighed his dark eyes glancing up at Izuku, "I'm sorry. I didnt mean to scare you. It's just I worry about you, Kage."
Izuku looked away not answering. He never spoke even when it was just the two of them. A habit born from years of abuse at the hands of adults. As much as he wanted to trust Tsukauchi he couldnt. If he was wrong then he would never speak again. That was not a guess but a fact he knew within his heart.
Once the gauze was wrapped around the cut Tsukauchi questioned his eyes softening, "Are you injured anywhere else?"
Izuku shook his head gaining his feet with the intent on leaving. Only to be stopped by a hand on his bicep. Glaring at the detective he waited for the man to remove it. If he didnt they were going to have problems.
As if sensing his dark intentions Tsukauchi removed his hand. They were raised in the universal sign of surrender. His glare only softened slightly as he waited to see what the man wanted.
Tsukauchi said moving towards his kitchen, "Don't leave just yet. I have some dinner for you. I made extras so that if we met as we usually do I could give it to you."
Izuku raised an eyebrow but warily approached nonetheless. It wasnt unusual for Eraser or Hawks to bring him food but Tsukauchi typically gave him easy on the go meals. Nothing fancy but with enough calories to get him by. This was the first time he had actually made Izuku an actual meal.
Tsukauchi placed a tupperware container in his hands. Curiosity got the best of him and Izuku opened it. Tears tried to make their way into his eyes as he stared down at his favorite meal from his childhood. Katsudon, something he hadn't eaten since he ran away.
Tsukauchi said rubbing at the back of his neck, "I wasnt sure what you liked so I made this. Its always been a favorite of mine."
Though the detective couldnt see it through his mask Izuku smiled at him. Taking the proffered fork he went to sit out on the balcony. Over the last few months that Izuku had been letting Tsukauchi treat his injuries at the man's apartment the balcony had been his favorite spot. Much like the rooftops he favored it allowed him to over look the city. Sitting on the railing would be where he sat with the prepackaged meals.
Izuku lifted the bottom part of his mask so that he could eat. Eagerly he dug into the food savoring it the best he could. However he had to be careful with the detective so close.
As he was finishing the food Tsukauchi called out from the doorway, "You know I have an extra room. It's supposed to get extremely cold this evening."
Izuku looked up considering the words. It was supposed to get cold that night and his current home wasnt heated. In fact it wasnt even a home. It was a garage and he didnt have very warm clothes. His hoodie was raggedy and stitched together from all the injuries he had received.
Pulling down his mask he looked back at the man. His viridian green eyes glinted in the light with questions. Tsukauchi had done away with his trenchcoat and jacket. Now he was just in his dress pants and shirt leaning against the door frame.
For a moment they just stared the silence hanging between them. Then Tsukauchi sighed, "Fine I'm off to bed for the night. If you do decide to take me up on my offer the extra room is the farthest on the right."
Before he could take more than a step Izuku asked his voice hoarse from lack of use, "Why do you keep coming for me? You know that I dont trust anyone. Yet any time I'm injured there you are ready to help me heal and get back on my feet."
Tsukauchi said firmly, "I will keep coming back for as long as you need me to. Why? Because you remind me of me. Maybe one day I'll tell you why. But not tonight I think we both need some sleep before broaching that subject. Goodnight, Kage."
"Goodnight detective."
To Izuku and Tsukauchi's surprise he did spend that night in the man's extra room. For the first time in years he slept in an actual bed. When he would wake the next morning he would slip back out of the apartment unnoticed. If he continued to visit who would know but the vigilante and detective.
