Immune and Telekinesis Part 2
Part 1: A new way
In a a ruined house somewhere near Jackson. Two men sat in an abandoned house. One of them was Tommy who was listening to his brother Joel as he cleaned down a guitar. "It was suppose to be simple, deliver her to the fireflies then leave," Joel said.
"But then we also ran into him too," he said remembering as he watched an assault rifle fly into a young mans hands. "But when you travel half way across the country with them," he said before sighing.
"I just wanted to make right with them and Johnny, he was determined to see it through," Joel said.
"What happened?" Tommy asked.
"We found the fireflies like they wanted," Joel said, "It was only because of Ellie that they were finally going to be able to make a cure," he said looking down.
"What about Johnny?" He asked looking worried.
"He would have died if they tried making one," Joel said. "Something about their immunity's being different," he said.
"So what did you two do," said Tommy.
Joel then remembered when he and Johnny burst into the operating room. Seeing the doctors about to operate on Ellie. "We stopped them but there was something else there," he said remembering seeing Johnny pick up a syringe.
"What was it?" Tommy asked looking nervous.
"You know about the liquid they gave Johnny right, in that bunker?" He asked making Tommy put a hand on his head.
"Johnny destroyed didn't he," he said and Joel nodded.
"Damnit Joel," Tommy said. "What did you tell Ellie?" He asked.
"I told Johnny to let me handle it," said Joel. "Told her they just ran some tests," he said putting the guitar down.
"She believed that," said Tommy.
Joel then remembered Ellies face after he told her he meant what he said about the fire flies. "She didn't say anything, that's when Johnny finally told us his full story," he said.
"What do you mean full story?" Tommy asked looking confused.
"Did he tell you about what happened to his parents since we got back?" Joel asked.
"Only that they died protecting him," Tommy said. "If it wasn't for that hair of his I wouldn't have recognized when I first saw the three of you," he said.
"But still that's a lot to take in," he said. He then stood up, "Cmon we should start heading back now," he said before heading to the garage.
"Yeah alright," Joel said getting up as well and putting the guitar on his back. The two of them left the house and got back on their horses. They rode back to Jackson not saying anything until the town came into view.
"Not far away now," Tommy said.
"Right," said Joel as they rode down the hill. When they reached the gate Tommy looked up at one of the look outs.
"Hey open up," he said getting the look outs attention.
"Glad your back Tommy, theres trouble," the man said. Joel and Tommy looked confused as the gate opened. Then they spotted Maria and Ellie along with a female lookout, talking.
"Your saying he took off without you knowing?" Maria asked.
"Not entirely he left a note," Ellie said before sighing.
"Hey what happened?" Tommy asked as he and Joel got off their horses.
"You alright?" Joel asked Ellie. She then handed him the note and he looked at it before sighing.
"What is it," Tommy said.
"The boys gone," Maria said making Tommy looked confused.
"He's not gone hes coming back," Ellie said looking annoyed. "Ive seen that he can take care of himself," she said.
"But did he really have do this alone," she said.
"The look out saw him leave early this morning," said Maria pointing at the lookout.
"Its true, I was surprised at first since he was flying," she said calmly.
"Don't worry its alright, head on home you've done enough for today," Tommy said brushing his hand through his hair.
"Alright," the woman said before walking away.
"Joel what does the letter say?" Tommy asked before Joel handed him the letter. "Remembered something important, be back later, Johnny," he said reading from the letter.
"Just what are you doing Johnny," Tommy thought looking at the sky.
Meanwhile far away from Jackson. In a bunker located in a forest. The halls were dark meaning the power was out. In the hallway near the exit a clicker was moving around when a noise came from the stairs. The clicker ran towards the stairs when the person reached the bottom. The person lifted one finger and clicker hit the ceiling headfirst. It then fell to the ground as the person took out a flashlight. He turned it on revealing it was Johnny whos hair was still short.
He walked further in seeing parts of the hallway was destroyed. He made a turn and found the room where he was kept after he would be bitten. He then noticed something on the ground and picked it up. It was his firefly tag and after a few moments he pocketed it.
"Power room shouldn't be far from here," he thought before turning and noticed two infected. They noticed him as he took out his pistol and shot the first one in the head. He dodged a swipe from the next one and sent it flying down the hallway. He then ran at the fallen infected and stabbed it in the head with his switchblade.
He let out a breath before noticing the door next to him. He opened it finding multiple generators. He turned them on and the whole bunker lit up. He ran into another clicker and sent it flying into the ceiling. He then let out a breath when he reached the medical room. He opened the door and noticed most of the drawers were open. He then looked at the chair remembering when he was strapped to it. He clenched his fists and looked towards the safe.
Noticing it wasn't open. "Only the doctor knew the combination," he thought before putting his hand on the knob. A second later the knob came off and he threw it away. He then opened it finding a journal and a piece of paper. He picked up the journal and the doctors name was written on the first page. The next page was stuff needed for the syrum.
"There now," he thought before noticing there were tags for different sections. He turned the pages to ability's and found the details on flying. Then he looked angry when he found the details on immunity.
"He knew," Johnny said noticing Isaac had written down how his body changed to have been able to fight off the infection. "He fucking knew," he said angrily as he swiped his hand at the chair. Sending it slamming into the wall and then he heard an infected in the hallway. He ran out and shot the infected in the head. After putting the journal in his backpack he started to head to another room when he noticed the room to the barracks. He walked in and headed to his old bed. Opening the chest at the front. He noticed most of his clothes were gone from the day he left. He then noticed a brown teddy bear and picked it up. He held it close to himself before hearing more infected. He put the teddy bear in his bacpack before running out.
After killing two more infected he then realized something. "Are the doors to the room open," he thought before running to another room. He took out the piece of paper that was with the journal and looked at the keypad next to the door. The piece of paper was the code to the weapons room. He opened the door finding shelf's of assault rifles, pistols and shotguns. There were a few flame throwers along with crates of ammo. He took two of the flame throwers and ran to the room that looked over the large cubed shaped room. He noticed a few of the doors were open. Infected walking around. One of them a bloater.
Johnny took out the gas mask Joel told him to wear whenever hes out with other people in infected areas. He then pressed buttons on one of the consoles and opened the rest of the doors. More infected walked into the large room as Johnny pushed his right hand forward. The glass shattered before he jumped through the screen.
"Ahhh," Johnny yelled as he pressed down on the triggers on the flame throwers.
Later in the day as it got dark out. Joel was in the living room of Tommy and Marias home. "Why would he want to take off," Maria said.
"I don't know," Joel said.
"He mentioned to me that he wanted to go out there," Tommy said. "Go out there and help people," he said before sighing.
"Well I hope you told him we don't have the power to do that," said Maria before taking a seat.
"Ever since I met him he could look after himself," Joel said calmly. "Even after getting shot he fought to help me and Ellie," he said.
"What do you mean got shot," said Tommy when someone knocked on the front door.
"I got it," Maria said before walking to the door and opened it to see a man gasping for air. "Hey take a breath, whats going on?" She asked.
"Maria you got to get to the gate, that kid who can fly just got back," he said. Joel and Tommy overheard him and looked surprised. The three of them followed the man to the gate where a crowd had gathered.
"Move out of the way," Tommy said as they reached the front of the crowd. He and Joel looked surprised to see Johnny standing next to an old mail van.
"Hey sorry about taking off," Johnny said holding up his hand. Joel rushed over to him and placed his hands on his shoulders.
"Are you alright," said Joel looking him over.
"Yeah I could just really use a shower," Johnny said calmly.
"Johnny, you cant take off like that," said Tommy looking serious. "What if something had happened to you, what about Ellie," he said.
"I said I would be back and I meant it," Johnny said looking serious making Tommy look surprised. Johnny then sighed as Joel took his hands off his shoulders, "Ill tell you where i was later, but for now," he said before lifting one of his fingers. The latch on the mail van opened, revealing a large pile of weapons. Most of the people looked surprised noticing a lot of the weapons looked like they were from them military.
"Meet me at the doctors in a few minutes," Johnny said before walking away. A few minutes later Tommy, Maria and Joel walked into the doctors office. They looked surprised to see Johnny sitting up on a bed, his scarred arms exposed. The doctor sitting in a chair next to him, one hand on his face and the other holding a journal.
"Johnny what are you doing," Joel said rushing over to him.
"I'm sorry I needed his help," Johnny said looking down.
"Listen doc I know its going to sound ridiculous but Johnnys," he said when the doctor spoke up.
"Hes immune," the doctor said looking up. "Its all in here," he said holding up the journal making Tommy looked surprised.
"Tommy," Maria said.
"You went back to the bunker didn't you," said Tommy looking at Johnny who stayed silent. "Why," he said.
"To give us hope Tommy," the Doctor said before looking at Joel. "He also told me what happened in Salt Lake City," he said making Joel look surprised.
"Why did you tell him that?" Joel asked and Johnny looked up with tears in his eyes.
"I need his trust so I wanted him to understand," Johnny said before wiping his eyes.
"What happened in Salt Lake City," said Maria looking confused.
"Ill tell you what Maria," the doctor said looking up angry. "The fireflies were about to do something awful to a girl," he said before getting up and standing in front of Johnny.
"Hey Johnny," he said getting his attention. "Its okay, because thanks to you we now have hope and you wont have to lose her," he said before bringing him in for a hug.
"Thank you," Johnny said as he hugged him back.
"Wait doc are you saying you could make a cure for the infection?" Tommy asked as the man let Johnny go.
"Yes but it will take time and resources," he said looking determined. He then looked at the Journal, "Ill make sure to use this the right way," he said.
"Thank you," Johnny said smiling.
"I wont tell anyone about Salt Lake City, you have my word," he said. "But eventually you will have to tell Ellie," he said.
"I know," Johnny said before sighing.
"Speaking of your girlfriend you should go see her," Maria said smiling. "She may have been sure you would make it back but she still looked worried when she went home," she said.
"Hopefully shes not to mad at me," Johnny said before getting off the bed.
"Don't worry I have something that should help," Joel said smiling.
"Thanks Joel," Johnny said before leaving the doctors office. He then let out a breath before heading home to see Ellie.
