Marinette Dupain-Cheng had been shocked and excited when the summer was coming and she had gotten a letter offering her a place at an American fashion camp known as Fashion Forward, seems that they had spotted her website and learned how she had designed for local rock star Jagged Stone and this camp could help her with her future fashion career. What's more was that this camp was owned and ran by none other than Roderick Kingsley, who was basically New York's Gabriel Agreste. His company's fashion line had gotten rave reviews from Style Queen and Roderick Kingsley himself had designed for movies as well.
She had been hesitant in accepting due to not wanting to leave New York unprotected but her friends and parents encouraged her and Tikki reminded her that in case of an Akuma attack in Paris then she could use the Horse Miraculous to return. She didn't actually need to deal with an Akuma attack and did end up liking her time at the camp.
The fellow students at the camp were quite nice even if they were competitive about wanting to make the best impression on the staff especially Mr Kingsley who was quite stern but fair to the students (especially with her bad timekeeping management).
The building was also neighbours to a facility that played host to another teenage camp, this one for gifted science prodigies their age called Camp Octavius which she was sure that Max would love. It was owned and ran by a Doctor Otto Octavius who seemed a bit arrogant with his posture but did have the respect of his students. The students of Camp Octavius got along with them just fine, she found a cute boy among their ranks named Peter Parker who was shy and a bit of a dork with his terrible jokes.
She was quite red with him but found herself able to communicate with him quite clearly, unlike she could with Adrien. Despite their different passions and reasons for going to their respect camps; they got along great and the fellow students could tell something between the both of them even if they denied it. Peter had told her about how he got picked on when he attended public school for being a nerd and Marinette could sympathise due to her experience of being picked on by Chloe plus how about a year ago he had lost his Uncle Ben who was the closest father figure he ever had and she was sorry to hear about that.
The students at Camp Octavius talked about how tight they were sworn to secrecy about what they were doing and learning about in the Camp. Along with strict NDAs, they were banned from using their phones from using the internet and were only allowed to play games and the occasional call and text to their parents and or guardians. If they wanted pictures outside the Camp, it would have to be taken by an approved staff member.
Even Tikki began teasing Marinette about her growing feelings for Marinette. However she noticed some strange occurrences happening at the camps, the students at Camp Octavius talked about accidents happening and students were having projects stolen and Doctor Octavius was having a fit trying to find the culprit. There were costumes reported stolen from Flash Forward. Marinette decided to use certain Miraculous in the box to stake out the camps at night to find the culprit but it turned out to not be the only student at either of the camps using their alter ego trying to solve the mystery.
She had de-transformed at a hiding spot behind Camp Octavius to find Peter in a red and blue homemade suit with a stitched in spider logo about to put on a full face red mask with goggles. They were stunned as they looked at eachother with the panic in their faces. Peter broke it by whispering "I won't tell if you won't..."
Turned out Peter had been bitten by a genetically altered spider while at a public science exhibition and after a series of events where he could have stopped the guy that would end up killing his Uncle Ben, he became a superpowered vigilante called Spider-Man and showed off his wrist shooters along with the synthetic web, both of which he had invented itself. She gave a comment about wanting to see about his outfit later.
They staked out together investigating and when alone they ended up sharing stories of their time as Superheroes, Marinette couldn't help feel so relieved and refreshed to have someone to speak to about being a young Superhero and to know what she is talking about. What to do about the secret identity and have to keep it secret, she laughed when Peter told her of his struggles trying to get his suit washed without his Aunt May knowing.
His jokes did remind her of Chat Noir but he said that he mainly used humour as trying to help lighten the mood and joking against a bad guy when you know what you are doing does help leave the bad guy distracted in anger.
They ended up catching the culprits in the act; it turned out to be Ethan and Lachlan two students of Camp Octavius who were stuck up arrogant jerks and both had come from rich families. They had been stealing costumes from Fashion Forward to hide in and had paid off security guards at both camps to help with their schemes. They were stealing projects to try and help them break into Octavius' office and planned to hack his computer to steal all plans on the entire Camp server and put them on a hard drive they had smuggled into the school, planning on deleting the serving to cover their escape and find another student as the fall guy while they use their parents connections to sell the plans.
Doctor Octavius was furious and as the authorities came, had told both boys that they were banned from the Camp and their families can expect a massive lawsuit from not only him but Kingsley as well.
It felt like a job well done and students were excited to learn that Spider-Man and someone new called Magic Girl (the best alternate name Marinette could come up with at a moment's notice) were at their school.
It was one of the last days of the Camp and both Mr Kingsley and Doctor Octavius had organised for the students a karaoke party with Fashion Forward students providing costumes for them to wear.
Backstage at the cafe that was being rented out for the party, Peter and Marinette were getting ready to sing along with eachother while dressed as Danny and Sally from Grease with Marinette having made the suits. "You know Grease was one of the old movies my Uncle Ben and I watched when I was growing up." Peter told her and they stared at eachother shyly, "So is this goodbye forever?" Peter asked hesitantly but she shook her head.
"Doesn't have to be, here is my number and email... we can see if we can make a long distance relationship work." Marinette told Peter and he smiled as she passed over a piece of paper along with bag. He blinked as he looked inside it "I made it for you so can go save the day looking more professional..." Marinette whispered to her and he hugged her in response as she hugged back.
They let go and saw Doctor Otto Octavius (nicknamed Doc Ock by his students) in his scientist's coat and six sided glasses looking at them along with Roderick who for the occasion was dressed as the orange and dark blue clad hooded Hobgoblin the villain of the horror movie that had been his first work for a movie. Marinette hating horror movies never saw it but Peter had. "Despite the problems, I hope you enjoyed your time here at Fashion Forward Ms Dupain-Cheng. Perhaps you could return next year." Mr Kingsley told her and Marinette was excited at the praise.
"Same for you Mr Parker, I expect to see about having you intern for my Lab." Doctor Octavius told Peter and Peter's face was filled with glee, Peter had told Marinette about how Doctor Octavius was one of his biggest science heroes so being at the Camp was a dream come true.
They then went to talk to the kid who was given permission to livestream the party for his vlog.
Alya Cesaire was at her house on her computer unable to wait for Marinette to come home from her big fashion Camp all the way in America, as much as she was happy for her bestie it was still weird not having her to spend time with for the Summer vacation. No Akuma attack suspiciously so she couldn't even use the Ladyblog much to keep her preoccupied.
Still not too long before she comes home and they can spend the rest of the Summer together and she can squeal about her time at a fancy Fashion camp. She had looked up news about the Camp and saw that there were some incidents at the camp and the science Camp next to it but the culprits were caught by two superheroes with one of them being the local one Spider-Man. Should ask Marinette about that.
She learned of this livestream at the karaoke party for both Camps and looked at it to see if she can spot Marinette in the crowd. Throughout it no luck but the acts were not bad and the costumes looked impressive of course. Then the two guys who ran both camps said up next to sing Summer Nights from Grease were Camp Octavius' Peter Parker and Fashion Forward's... Marinette Dupain-Cheng?
Her mouth was wide open as she saw Marinette came in looking like an old movie and a boy their age looking like a drifter, they sang along amazing with the crowd singing the parts of the boys and girls in the song. It looked like something more between them in how they looked eachother and during the slower latter part of the song they looked actually heartbroken to have to go their separate ways. They gotten closer and actually kissed with the crowd cheering. The host of the livestream told the camera "about time, those two were our Camp's summer romance and I kind of lost fifty bucks in the betting pool... I thought their first kiss would be when they said goodbye at the buses..."
Alya's fingers quickly went to her phone to call their friends and a huge grin on her face, Marinette will not be allowed to leave out any details in this...
Peter's science camp (only run by Octavius instead of Tony Stark) and Ethan and Ethlan are based on the miniseries Spidey: School's Out which is basically concepts from the MCU in comic form but I do like it despite some artistic problems.
