December 1990
She looked around the room and noticed the twinkling lights draped in a veil around the large Christmas tree in the center of the room. She took in the navy and silver colour theme as well as the holly decorating each of the tables.
"Not very Christmassy," a young boy mentions as he appears beside the young brunette little girl.
"Depends on how you look at it," she says as she turns to face the boy. He was about seven years old but tall for his age. He had black hair, that was neatly cut and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a dark blue tuxedo with a holly boutonniere. "Calliope Drakos."
"Grant Ward," he says offering his hand. "You're here with the Starks."
"Uncle Howard likes bringing me along," she says shaking his hand. "Your dad is attempting to get a meeting with my uncle."
"Doesn't seem to be going his way," Grant says as he watches his dad and Howard talk. "Dad wants to know more about the projects he's been working on."
"Howard doesn't enjoy pushy people or those who attempt to abuse their power," Calliope casually mentions.
"Guess my dad has no chance then," Grant says as he looks at her and smiles.
February 2009
Calliope slowly walked out of the Robert Crown Law Office on her way to Munger Graduate Residence when she felt someone grab her and begin to pull her towards the back of the building. She could clearly hear a car and began to struggle, she kicked and tossed her arms. She quickly took into account three large men all wearing dark clothes. She struggled and was able to get out of their hold before noticing the man farthest from her dropped.
Momentarily distracted another man was able to grab her from behind before she delivered an elbow to his gut. She quickly turned around and delivered a roundhouse kick to his head as she watched him drop to the ground. She quickly turned as someone put their hand on her shoulder. She was just about to throw a punch when she heard, "Woah, Callie it's Grant." She then noticed that this man was smaller than the other three men who had tried to grab her.
Grant quickly stepped into a brighter area and held his hands up and says, "it's just me. I'm not going to hurt you."
She quickly looks at him before reaching out and slapping him. She quickly grabs her bag and begins to walk back towards her dorm room.
"Callie," Grant says as he bounds the hands of the three guys before following her. "Calliope stop."
June 2012
The balmy New York weather was perfect as the sun began to set on the bear near Greenport.
"Are you sure," a young redheaded female asks as she looks at Calliope in a white beach dress. "I mean, you two could wait a bit longer."
"Patricia Ward, are you seriously asking me that," Callie asks as she turns to look at Grant's older sister. "I'm surprised it's taken us this long to get here."
"I'm surprised that you don't want Tony here," Patricia says as she straightens her sea-blue beach dress. "That's all. I just don't want you two regretting not getting your dream."
"Our dream is each other," Callie says as she looks at her. "We don't know what tomorrow is going to bring and one regret that I don't want to have is not having married your brother. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, Patty."
"Okay, okay," Patty says as she looks at her. "Just promise me you went traditional."
"Mainly," Callie says before she looks at her watch. "It's time."
"Let's get this started," Patty says before exiting the cabana and noticing her two brothers waiting alongside a minister. She slowly walks out of the cabana and towards the three gentlemen.
Callie slowly exits the cabana and begins to walk towards Grant in his navy khaki pants and white short-sleeved linen shirt. She can see the brightest smile on his face and knows that they are doing the right thing. She reaches him and stares deeply into his eyes as the minister begins to speak. The words are not clear to her as the only thing she can concentrate on is Grant.
