Even God's Need A Lifelong Partner
Chapter One
„I keep asking myself, wondering how
I keep closing my eyes, but I can't block you out
Want to fly to a place where it's just you and me
Nobody else so we can be free" – All The Thing She Said – t.A.T.u
Disclaimer: I do not own the song, neither Resident Evil. I am only writing for fun. This story is based on the Resident Evil 5 events, an AU.
„Do you really believe the world is worth for saving for?" Wesker's voice asked.
Sheva kept running straight, waiting for Chris, to reach, but he did not. He stopped in one place and did not follow his partner. He looked down at the lava. They were running around a living volcano. He let out a long sigh, then he answered.
„No." Chris said.
Everything seemed to stop for a minute. Sheva turned around to face Chris. Her face almost turned pale white, because of what she heard. This was the reason they were here, to save that goddamn world, and now Chris is taking backsteps at the final steps? The hell not!
„Are you out of your mind?!" Sheva shouted. „You can't be serious!"
Wesker seemed to be a little confused, but he started to like what was on Chris's mind. Maybe he could wait a little longer the let his new world to be born, as he seemed to find someone, who he fully hated in his whole life being interested in all of this.
"I am, currently." Chris spoke. "This all makes nonsense to me again."
He was tired. So damn tired since 1998. He wanted to sit down, to rest himself, or to put himself into a coma to never wake up to fight against everything. His life is all gone because nobody cannot live as they used to. It is everywhere, and everyone counted to him, to make it all gone. But he was tired.
"What are you trying to say with this?" Wesker asked.
Chris turned back, to face Wesker. The almost gone, Wesker, since his body was almost all covered with the Uroboros. For a matter, nothing mattered. Chris saw that version of who he wanted to look at now. The one he met up in the S.T.A.R.S. And that is all he wanted to feel again, when nothing was wrong, and they were, friends. What now seems so crazy to think about it. They have become the world worst enemies.
"I am willing to join to you." Chris finally spit out the words.
Wesker seemed to be so impressed by his arch enemy, to wanting to be on his side now. He let out a small laugh because he was not believing in his eyes. He let his hand down slowly to the ground, erasing every little Uroboros stayed up pieces, to only be the human looking himself again.
"If you play me out…" Wesker started. "I will know what to do with you."
Did really Chris wanted to do this? No, to be honest. As he knows, he never sat down for a minute. He was always on the run to catch this man, to stop him and finish him. Now he is joining to him, to be a little task on his plan.
Chris never talked about this, to anyone. Nobody knew what he was keeping in his head. But this was a part of his all-planned trip to Africa, to try to stop all of this, now he is on a way back trip, to be a so called "slave" to his so-called arch nemesis. Or that is what everybody knows. And why? Because everyone would think that Chris is crazy, because he still has feelings for that man deep inside, and he could never get them clean. The hardest alcohol, the hardest cigarettes, or drugs, could never take away the pain, and so-called love feelings, what he developed since his first step into the R.P.D, facing the mysterious, always sunglass wearer man, who was his captain.
Indeed, it all started in the ex-BSAA agent, in the crazy year of 1996. Two years before the Raccoon Accident, on the Arklay Mountains. When he joined to the team, after his Air Force career. The well-known, love at first sigh happened, since it was all a mystery about Wesker, himself. Now Chris looks at that man, without his sunglass, seeing a red-yellow eye color. Not to mention, Wesker is sitting completely without any top wear, so it was not that easy for Chris, to hide his face's little blush. Looking back at the old days, he would give anything, just live a day back like that. When they've nothing to worry about, and they could be humans. But he did not seem to investigate his ex-captain's head to explore the feelings. About returning those, or not. But he will sure find it out, sooner or later.
"What made you think other than your duties?" Wesker's voice suddenly sounded back, in the helicopter, looking into Chris's eyes deeply.
Wesker was indeed an intelligent man, and so smart. He was not stupid, he knew how Chris fallen for those eyes, to investigate his soul. But never said a damn word about. Wesker is not that type of player who ruins everything at the beginning. But at the end, he sure ruins everything. But with this, he is not so sure. He gives a few times to rethink about it. And to say, he looked at Chris before, with different eyes, and sides. Since he had so many chances to kill him, why he did not do? Because he has never been able to truly love anyone, but himself, to care about someone, or care, but only himself. Was that ex-captain that selfish? No. He never found the perfect person to care about. And was waiting on the chance. But it seemed like that, the chance kicked his door, and willed to appear. It seemed to be Chris to be the man, to change everything. But he is not saying anything, before it could happen.
"Can I be honest with you?" Chris asked, as he looked into Wesker's eyes.
His feelings were playing with him. His head was pounding with hate. How he wanted to have his little trusty handgun and shoot all the bullets out into his heart, and head. But his heart, was pounding, with a lot faster beat. With repeating circles, and warmness, reminding him to have space for that man.
"I'm all ears, for you." Wesker answered.
They were soon arriving to the destination. Was Wesker all planning on to inject Uroboros to Chris? No. He was smarter than that. He knew, Uroboros wouldn't find Chris worthy, and would tear him apart. Wesker wants to see how Chris is willing to give up everything and be a part of his plan. Maybe, his new world? Because even god's need a lifelong partner, to keep them entertain. But what would that cause them?
"I'm damn tired." Chris sighed. "I don't want to do this anymore. I'm tired of being the hero everyone needs!"
Chris's anger seemed to be out. He was all red, and how damn he wanted to cry. Man can cry, it is a natural thing, but he never let out a single tear since 1998. The last time he cried was, when Wesker betrayed everyone. He did not even cry, after Jill. Nothing. But now, maybe he can sit down for a while, and then, stand up, to be the one, who will not save the world, but… destroy it? Was this really that old Chris Redfield, who everyone knew, or trusted so? No one will ever know.
"No one told you to be the hero. You kept running after me with Valentine. You made yourself to be the hero who was the world needing." Wesker said.
Chris took a breath then he realized, Wesker was damn right for one time. The first time, in hearing, and giving one point to Wesker because he was so right about it. He kept running to the Rockfort Island. To Antarctica, to encounter with who? Of course, Wesker. To the European Umbrella base? Again, Wesker was there, to meet up. And now, in Africa. But instead of killing him, he is joining him, finally following his heart. But was this the best idea? It will give its price within the first days…
The world is not worth for saving it, but maybe, create a new one is worth? No one knows. It is only up to Chris and Wesker now, to decide, what they will do about these ruins. And what will the new day bring? Only away with the smoke of a cigarette…
A/N: I have finally played with Resident Evil 5 last night with my fiancé, and we played it through. I had this idea during today's shift, so I sat down and wrote it. I am excited to see how it will work out!
