"Lucas? Lucas! C'mon, wake up!" He was awoken by a strange new voice. It sounded almost child-like, and a lot younger than any of his friends. "I think I'm okay..." He sat up, rubbing the back of his head, when he noticed a small creature at his feet.

It was almost round, with orange fur, a white face, red eyes, and a black blade-like horn just above its face.

When Lucas noticed it, he froze, holding his breath. He didn't know what else to do, so he hoped not moving would make it move on to somewhere else.

The creature gave him a confused look. "What, do I have something on my face?"

Lucas became concerned. "...You can talk?"

The creature hopped around him, chuckling. "Well, duh! If I couldn't talk, how would you know it was me?"

Lucas was even more confused. "Who even are you?"

"The name's Tsunomon, and I'm your partner! We're gonna be best friends, just you watch!" It hopped around him, watching as he stood up, then hopped into his arms.

Lucas looked around, finally taking a look at his surroundings. He was shocked to find that, instead of the snowy campsite he expected to see, they were about half-way up a large mountain overlooking a ton of forest. He could even see the ocean!

"Okay, where on earth are we? This definitely isn't Japan..."

Tsunomon gave him a curious look. "Lucas, what's Japan?"

Lucas looked down at Tsunomon, trying to process the information running through his head. Unfortunately, his train of thought was broken by Naoko calling his name. "Hey! Lucas! Over here!"

Naoko ran over to him, with something on her shoulder. It looked like some kind of small brown water dinosaur, with an orange tuft of fur on its head and deep blue eyes.

"This thing's been clinging to my shoulder ever since I woke up, and it won't tell me why we're here!"

The dinosaur tugged at her shirt a bit. "Hey, I'm not a thing, I'm Bukamon!"

Lucas looked around again. "Naoko, do you know where the others are?"

Naoko shook her head. "I've been looking around since I woke up, but you're the only one I've found."

They simply stood there for a moment, confused. However, their thoughts were interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps.

Lucas turned to face the source of the footsteps. "Who's there?!"
