Chapter 2
Cristina Yang stood behind the Stage where Noone could see her but she could see everyone in the room. Her eyes caught a head of blond hair that she could easily identify as meredith. Next to Meredith there was Owen. She had heard that he had wanted to marry Teddy Altman but she didn't really know when they had set their date. Another person she could identify easily was Jackson Avery, he was seated in the same row as Meredith and Owen. With them there was also Dr. Hayes, McWidow , one of her friends from Switzerland whom she had sent as a "present" for Meredith after the Resident had dumped her.
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted bye Dr Bailey's voice. "... I was her Resident. Meet our new Chief of Surgery, Dr. Cristina Yang."
While walking onto the stage and being greeted with a big round of applause Cristina suddenly felt quiet nervous to be there. In Seattle. At home. When she finally entered the stage she cleared her throat loudly.
" Dear doctors of GreySloan Memorial Hospital, it's a pleasure to be here and work with all of you as your chief of surgery. I am happy to be back home after 7 years of directing the Klaussmann Institute in Zürich, Switzerland. I am looking forward to working with you." While looking at her new staff with a bossy glare she added: "You all have got patients to see, haven't you? I want to talk to the department heads now, I expect the rest of you to clear this room in the next 90 seconds, I am counting... One... Two... There.. Get going."
She took a last look at her staff before walking down from the stage without any hurry. Then she heard it. Someone yelling. She knew this voice, she would recognize it everywhere. And she knew it was her fault that the Voice was yelling her name...
It was her, it actually was Cristina who entered the stage. Her best friend, her person. "Why didn't she call to tell me?" Meredith asked without expecting an answer from anyone. After giving Meredith a look that showed that she was considering what to say, Maggie finally answered:" maybe she just wanted to surprise you?" "And what kind of surprise is that? 'surprise surprise, I gave up my dream, my prestigious Cardo-Thoracic center in Switzerland and my 100 3D printers to come back to Seattle'... Of course I missed her, but that hospital was what made her happy, it always was her dream... I'm so angry right now... " " Grey, you know I was working with her in Switzerland. " Cormac Hayes said with his heavy Irish accent." Yeah, of course I know that. " Meredith Grey replied." She couldn't stop talking about Seattle and this hospital and how it still is her home... " " I don't really care about that right now, I am still so angry... " was the last time Meredith said before hearing Cristina say :"... I want to the department heads now... " and counting so everyone else leaves...
"CRISTINA FUCKING YANG, MOVE YOUR GODDAMN ASS HERE RIGHT NOW! DO YOU CARE TO EXPLAIN WHY THE HELL YOU ARE HERE INSTEAD OF ZURICH, WERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DIRECTING ONE OF THE BEST CARDIO-THORACIC CENTERS IN THE WORLD? AND WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE COMING?" Meredith yelled without taking one breath and Cristina knew she was in huge trouble. She started to hurry to reach Meredith faster and when she finally reached her destination in front of Meredith she opened her arms for a hug. "You know we still don't do the hugging thing, don't you?" Meredith said smirking while embracing Cristina in a huge hug.
The department heads who don't know the 'Twisted Sisters' together and the Chief of Chiefs, Tom Koracick stared at Meredith and Cristina as if they were crazy. "Why are you staring? Have you never seen two Sisters hugging each other?" Cristina said while Meredith and Cristina both let go of each other. "You all sit down now. Just tell me who you are and what department you lead. You start, guy next to Avery."
Hello and welcome Dr. Yang, My name is Dr. Atticus Lincoln but everybody calls me Link, and I am head of ortho. " " I am Tom Koracick, the Chief of Chiefs, temporary head of neuro and your boss, so don't try to boss me around." Tom Koracick said, smirking at Cristina with a superior grin. She just glared at him before looking at Maggie who quickly said:" I'm, Maggie, Dr. Pierce, head of cardio." " I expect a detailed report about your department by the end of the week. From you too Koracick, eventhough you are just the temporary department head because Shepherd's little sister had to pop out another McSpawn for the Shepherd Clan." " Scout Derek" Link added. Cristina looked confused "What?" "His name is Scout Derek Lincoln not McSpawn." "Yeah whatever... So like I said, reports due to the end of the week, you are dismissed." "Why didn't you ask the others to introduce themselves?" Link asked.
Of course he had heard what Dr. Bailey said, that she had trained Cristina Yang in this hospital but he didn't expect her to talk about Amelia as Shepherd's little sister, eventhough he knew that Meredith was married to Amelia's brother who died from an accident. And Dr. Yang seemed to really know Meredith when Meredith let Cristina hug her. Link never saw Meredith hug Maggie or Amelia so there must be something really special between them.
"I didn't ask them because I know them and their specialities. Dr. Meredith Grey is head of general, Dr. Jackson Avery, head of plastics. Dr. Owen Hunt, head of trauma and Dr. Cormac Hayes head of peds. You are dismissed now, you can go."
Almost everybody left until there were only Cristina and Meredith left.
"Cristina Yang, right now you are going to tell me why you are here as our chief, probably staying forever, and not in your fancy Klausmann Institute in Switzerland where you are supposed to be right now."
Cristina looked at Meredith, considering what to say and started talkinh: "OK..."
Flashback 6 months earlierCormac Hayes and Cristina Yang were operating on a 16 year-old vaper who damaged his lungs so bad that they had to resect a part of his lungs. "You know, Hayes, with you transferring to Seattle in 2 months I am really thinking about going back there too. I really miss my family there especially my twisted sister. The one I've told you about." Cristina said while looking at the lungs she was working on with really a dry and disgusted faces." Why do they let minors use stuff like that how can they be allowed to buy something like that?" "It's all about the fancy flavors like apple, mint and chocolate. The kids get addicted easily and it's easy money for people selling it."Cormac said with a frown."I really think that you should consider going back to Seattle if you miss it that much. You don't have to stay in Switzerland forever." Dr. Hayes changed the topic back to their earlier conversation about going to Seattle. "I think I really want to do this, but I don't really know when..."
"So you actually thought about it before." Meredith said really surprised. "Yes, I did." Cristina confirmed Meredith's statement. "How did you decide to come back, how did you get the job as our Chief?"
Flashback 2 weeks earlierCristina put the phone down. Her old Resident and Teacher, Dr. Bailey, had just called her and offered her the job as chief of surgery. And she took it? Why would she do that? Of course she was thinking about coming back before, but what was she supposed to do with her own hospital. She needed someone to step in her footprints because she was going to step into Dr. Bailey's footprints. Dr. Bailey. She owed Dr. Bailey to do her this favor after all she did for their Intern group and also during residency and when they were young attending. She thought them and she helped them and now it was Cristina's turn to help Dr. Bailey.Cristina paged Shane Ross into her office and 5 minutes later she heard someone knocking on the door. "Come in." "Dr. Yang, you paged me." Dr. Ross stated and eyed Cristina with a curious look on his face. "Did something happen?" "I am going back to Seattle." Cristina said and waited for Shane to say something. "Do you want me to come with you again, because I really don't want to go back there..." Shane asked, looking a little bit scared. "No, I am leaving alone." "Why am I here then?" Dr. Ross wanted to know."I can't leave this place without knowing that someone good, someone I trained, takes good care of my baby. My precious hospital." Cristina said with a smile. "Wha-What do you mean?" Shane said with a shocked look on his face. "Stop to act as if you didn't understand that I just offered you my Job." "You-You did? You actually did?" "Yes I did, I took you here with me and I think you are ready to take over this place." Cristina said with a proud look on her face. She totally understood why Dr. Bailey had called her now. But she wondered why she didn't ask Meredith or Evil Spawn."Did you already decide if you want to take the job or not?", she asked Shane, looking really impatient. "Yes and yes.", he just answered. "Yes to what now?" she asked. "Yes I made a decision and yes I want to take the job and I really feel honored. Thank you for this opportunity, Dr. Yang. I am not going to disappoint you."
"So you gave your Job to Shane?" Meredith asked curiously. "Yes." Cristina said whereupon meredith asked: "OK. And your staying for good now?" "That was my plan." "Then let's go to the daycare, the kids missed their favorite aunt." Meredith said, already standing up "Zola's and Bailey's school is closed today so they will be there too, let's go"
Guys, I finally did it, I wrote chapter 2. As you might have noticed, I changed my writing style a little bit. I usually don't write in english so I kinda hat to find my own style. I think I'm gonna rewrite chapter 1 when I have finished the story. If there is something you want to read in this fanfiction, just tell me and when I like your idea and it fits into the story line , I will try to put it in the story.
