Ends
The Fates knew how the tale would end from the moment the story began. It was an old tale, carefully woven and spun throughout the years, but no matter how the details changed, the end was always the same.
The poet would look back. His lover would be doomed. It was fated so.
And yet—despite it all, spring had come again, bringing hope to a desolate world and showing that love bloomed through the cracks. Orpheus failed, but in failing he had reconciled the gods, bringing the world back into tune.
Perhaps that was why Hermes tried and failed and tried yet again, though he knew how it would end.
The God of Speed was following in Orpheus's footsteps.
