Annabeth was going to say something to Percy when he heard a commotion from the water. Annabeth stopped talking and looked over at the scene, watching with interest. Percy turned to look to.
Two younger campers were circling each other, like they were about to fight. The girl on the right was snarling at the smaller girl of the two, and as the smaller girl's face came into view, he realised it was Mira. Percy nudged Annabeth.
"Isn't that Mira?" Annabeth nodded and pointed at the other girl.
"That's Sarah Kirkman, Daughter of Ares. She picks fights with new campers."
Percy tried to get up to go and intervene, but Annabeth pushed him back down, shaking her head.
"Wait" was all she said.
Sarah was advancing on Mira. The latter was looking a little bit worried, trying to talk to the other girl, trying to calm her down. But Sarah was not to be deterred. Before Percy even realised what was happening, Sarah sprang at Mira, suddenly wielding a sword. Mira had ditched her worried expression and was staring at Sarah with grim determination. Mira dodged Sarah's blade, barely missing her head but managing to slice her ribs. Blood soaked through Mira's camp shirt and she stared at it in disbelief. All the surrounding campers held their breaths, waiting to see what she would do. Percy again tried to intervene, but Annabeth once again stopped him, whispering in his ear "She can handle herself". Percy tried to shrug her off but stopped when he saw Mira again. *
Mira was not having a good night. The pain in her chest was tremendous, and the demigod in front of her was not going to stop. Mira was angry. She was angry at her cruddy life, her horrible luck, and most of all, this girl in front of her. The daughter of Ares was smirking at her now.
"Is the weak little baby scared of a little scratch?" She taunted, waving her sword in front of her menacingly. But Mira was not in the mood for this tonight. All her fury danced around her, swirling and swirling. She could feel the water surrounding her, and when she looked up, Sarah gasped.
"I am not scared of a little scratch," she whispered, advancing toward her, "I am not a weak little baby," she said louder, and as she was two metres away from Sarah, the coward decided to try and hit her again. This was a big mistake. The daughter of Ares tried to stab her in the gut, but Mira's fury exploded out of her in a big rush of water. Literally. The water of Long Island Sound obeyed her emotions and created a massive wall of water in front of Sarah, swirling and swirling until she was trapped in a massive whirlpool. Mira willed the water to bring her up to eye level with Sarah.
"I am not afraid of you!" She shouted, and the water all fell crashing down back onto the beach.
When the water had stilled, and Mira finally looked up at the beach, she saw every camper staring at her in disbelief, including Percy and Annabeth.
"Uh… Hi?" She said weakly, waving at them. Chiron trotted up to Mira and stared at her gravely.
"It appears, my dear, that you have been claimed." He said, looking up above her head. Mira also looked up and saw the symbol floating above her head.
"All hail Mira," Chiron said gravely, kneeling down on his four legs, "Daughter of Poseidon." *
The rest of the campers kneeled as well; Percy included. He couldn't believe it. Mira was his sister? His dad had mentioned bringing other siblings to camp, but Percy thought he was joking. He looked across at Annabeth and noticed her smiling slightly, though a look of worry still lined her face. That was when Percy realised something.
"You knew she was my sister, didn't you?" he whispered, staring at her in disbelief. Annabeth nodded.
"The clues were all there." Was all she said. Percy shook his head disbelievingly and made his way towards Mira, Annabeth following in his wake. Mira looked scared, like she thought he was going to hit her or something. As he made his way down, Chiron told all the campers to go to bed, and by the time he got to her, most campers had left the beach and Mira was shaking badly.
"Hi?" she said quietly, looking like she was bracing herself for an onslaught.
Percy squatted down to be eye level with her, and Mira flinched. His eyebrows knitted together but he decided to talk anyway.
"So, you're my sister huh?" he asked. Mira nodded tentatively. Annabeth stepped forward.
"Is your chest ok?" Mira nodded shakily and answered.
"I'll be fine, I've had worse." Annabeth shook her head, worry evidently clear on her face.
"You're not fine, you're losing a lot of blood and that is a pretty deep cut. You should get Will to check it out." Mira shook her head.
"No, really, I can just go in the water and…" Mira didn't even finish her sentence before her eyes rolled back into her head and she passed out. Percy rushed to catch her and caught her just before her head hit the ground. Chiron shook his head.
"The girl needs rest. She used a lot of energy controlling that water and the wound will have made it much worse." He said. Percy stood up holding Mira bridal style and started walking back towards Camp without saying a word. Annabeth and Chiron shared a look and followed in his wake.
Yes, it's short cause I don't have much pre-written lol so I want to drag it out.
