"Do you know what Fury wants?", I ask him as we walk.
"No idea. Maybe he has a new mission for us?", he tells me.
"See? Maybe it's a new mission and I don't have a functioning suit.", Tony complains, looking at me.
"If he sends you away, your suit will be ready by then, don't worry.", I say, slowly getting fed up with the subject and Tony's stubbornness.
Steve frowns, "I saw three suits downstairs."
"They're old and not perfected. Practically useless.", Tony tells him as we enter he elevator.
"Well then perfect them. It's kinda stupid that you have only one suit that you wanna use.", I say looking at Tony.
"She's right.", Steve agrees with me.
I smile, "See? It's two against one."
"It's not that simple."
The elevator stops and we continue our walk towards the conference room.
"Hey guys.", Bruce greets, joining us. "Hey.", we all say at the same time.
"We have a new mission?", he asks.
"Probably.", Tony tells him.
"I suppose, since Thor came. Must be something big.", he tells us.
I smile, "Thor is here?"
Bruce nods.
I started to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. after Loki came to Earth and created drama all around the world. After a few months of Loki being on Asgard, Fury decided that it would be a smart decision to send someone up there, just to be sure that he's not a threat to us anymore. Since the mission was quite simple and practically harmless, he offered me the job and I gladly took it. I was up there for a few weeks and, by the end of my mission, Thor and I became really close.
Entering the conference room, I see Nat, Clint and Thor chatting. As we join them, Thor looks at us and a big smile appears across his face.
"Evie!", he yells with his deep voice and rushes towards me, wrapping his strong arms around my waist and picking me up.
"It's nice to see you.", I say, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"What are you doing here?", Tony asks as Thor puts me down.
"It's nice to see you too, metal man. Fury contacted me a few days ago. He didn't say any details but I'm joining you on a new mission."
"So it is a new mission. And I was hoping to get a few days off.", Bruce speaks, disappointed.
"And maybe you'll get them. If I understood Fury correctly, just one of us is going. And Thor.", Clint informs us.
Tony raises his eyebrow, "So it's nothing serious."
"If it's not serious, why did he call Thor?", Steve asks him.
"Because he's the most qualified for this particular job.", we hear Fury's voice.
"Is it Russia again?", Tony asks as we all take our seats.
"No, it's England.", Fury tells him.
"England? What's happening there?", Nat asks.
"Apparently a lot, but until now, it wasn't our business."
Bruce shakes his head, "I don't understand."
"Fifteen years ago, a series of unexplained deaths occurred all over England. The Fringe organization took over the investigation but soon they hit a brick wall. No one could explained them, no one knew what was going on. Sara James, former head investigator of Fringe contacted S.H.I.E.L.D., asking for help. After a few months of intense investigation, we realized that some of the killed people never attended any elementary schools or high schools anywhere in the world. Or at least the world we knew about. I was ready to give up on the case when a man named Albus Dumbledore contacted me, wanting to talk."
"Albus Dumbledore? Sounds like a wizard name.", Nat says with a smile.
"And you're right ...he is a wizard.", he tells her and she raises her eyebrow.
"That day I found out that theres something called the wizard world and most of the people that where murdered where wizards. There was a war and a lot of people escaped from the wizard land, hoping to find safety outside of it. Unfortunately, they didn't."
"I thought that after alien robots and creatures nothing could surprise me. I was wrong.", I say.
"And the robots are the issue. After our talk, we agreed on a collaboration. We won't interfere in anything unless the problem comes to us muggles, that's how they call non-magical people, then he would inform us so we can take measures to protect our people."
"So there's another war?", Bruce asks.
"No. It's them that have a problem with something that's ours. Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts, the magic school they have, and since last week, teachers are reporting seeing robots lurking in and around the woods, near the castle. One girl was attacked and she's in the hospital with a critical condition."
"Ultron?", Steve asks.
"We don't know.", Fury tells him.
"Wait, wait ...if they use magic, can't they fight them?", Tony asks.
"No. Allegedly it doesn't work or they are too quick to even attack them."
"Why would they go there?", Nat asks.
"I don't have an answer to that question. The only thing I know is that they have a problem and need our help. Students will return in a few days and he doesn't want to endanger them."
"I suppose that's the reason I'm here.", Thor speaks. Fury nods, "Yes. You and Evelyn will go there."
"What?", I ask in complete shock.
"No fucking way.", Tony tells him.
"I didn't ask for your opinion Tony."
"Why can't someone else go?", he objects.
"Because I need you all here. Evelyn has all the skills she needs and she won't be alone."
"This is dangerous.", Tony tells him.
"The moment she agreed to work for us she agreed to dangerous situations. Your sister is old enough, smart enough and capable enough to take good care of herself and finish the job successfully."
"What if something happens to her?", he asks.
"What if something happens to you Tony?", I ask him, feeling my blood boil.
"That's not the same.", he turns towards me.
"How?", I ask frowning.
"Hey, this is not a family meeting. If you have problems, handle it in private. Evelyn, do you wanna go?", Fury asks.
"Yea.", I say.
I see Tony shaking his head in disapproval.
"Does anyone else think that Evelyn is not qualified for this mission?", Fury asks.
"I think this is a great opportunity for her.", Nat tells him.
"I agree.", Steve follows.
"And she'll be safe with me.", Thor speaks, looking at Tony.
"Great, then it's settled. You two will be leaving in three days. Evelyn, you will be introduced as a new Muggle studies professor. We want to keep you undercover. Dumbledore and three other people know who you are and why will you come, the students and other professors don't. For your own safety and because we don't want to raise panic."
I nod at Fury's words.
"Your job is to find out why are they there and what do they want. We're working on some gadgets you'll take with you. If things get heated, the Avengers will come to help you, but only if it becomes critical."
"I understand."
Fury nods, "For more details, you will ask the headmaster when you arrive there. The meeting is over."
Everyone stands up and I follow Tony outside.
"What's your problem exactly?", I ask, running after him.
"I knew you working here was a bad idea. I told Fury many times-"
"Yea, I know you're the reason I'm stuck with an office job that's based on me repairing your damn suits, mission after mission. I don't want that. I'm more than capable to do actual field work."
"This job is not a joke, Evie. Do you even realize that you can get injured or killed during a mission?"
"Yes, I do, and from the moment I accepted the job, I was fine with that."
"Great! Then do whatever the fuck you want but don't come crying to me when your stubbornness bites you in the ass.", he tells me and walks away.
"You're the last person I would complain to because you're an egoistic idiot!", I yell after him.
"That reminds me of the relationship I have with my brother.", I hear Thors voice.
"He's such a moron.", I say in frustration.
"He just want's to protect you.", he tells me.
"I don't need protection. He's acting like he's my father, and he's not."
"But he's your brother ...and everything he does, it goes from a place of love."
"I just wanna go home.", I sigh.
"Go and we'll see each other in three days.", he smiles.
I smile back, "Sure. Bye."
I walk towards the lab to get my stuff. Tony needs to realize that I'm not a kid anymore and he needs to let go. Because if he doesn't, we will have a problem.
