Chapter Two
Kara woke up to the sound of someone in the kitchen. She looked over to Caitlin, who's hair was changing from auburn to platinum blonde. Kara thought that was weird but she ignored it. She got a bit scared when she didn't see Barry on the other side. Still intrigued by the noise she went to investigate, when she got there she saw lightning flying all over the place. Her eyes widened and got scared, she ran back to Caitlin and woke her up.
"Caitlin there's something in the kitchen." Kara shook Caitlin awake. Caitlin got a chill down her spine and went to go see what it was with Kara trailing behind her scared. They got to the kitchen and Caitlin saw Barry speeding around making breakfast.
"Barry!" She called. Barry came to a stop to see Caitlin staring at him with her hands on her hips and her head tilted to the side, and a scared Kara peeking from behind her. He smiled sheepishly at Caitlin. Barry went and bent down in front of Kara.
"Kara I'm so sorry, did I scare you?" She just nodded. " I'm sorry , Kara, come here." Kara went and hugged Barry.
"Can all humans do that?" She asked.
"No sweetie, Barry and I are what we call metta humans, each metta human has their own special abilities. Barry can travel at super speed, and I have another personality that can use ice powers." Caitlin explained to Kara and smiled.
"C..can I see?" Kara asked. Caitlin smiled and her eyes turned an icy blue, hair platinum blonde, her skin turned paler, and lips blue. Frost bent down to Kara.
"Hey kid, I'm Frost." Frost touched her chest with one finger and created a snowflake necklace. Kara just smiled. Frost retreated back into Caitlins mind and Caitlin came back out and smiled. Frost felt extremely protective of Kara, she thought maybe it had to do with Caitlin's motherly instincts.
After breakfast Barry went to buy a pair of clothes for Kara to wear for right now. While Caitlin got Kara in the shower. Barry came back with a plain blue shirt with red pants, and a pair of converse, along with underwear and socks. Kara put on the clothes but couldn't figure out the shoes.
"Caitlin? I don't know how to put these on." Kara showed her the shoes. Caitlin smiled, took the shoes and was about to put them on her when Kara screamed.
"Kara what's wrong?" Caitlin asked, Barry ran in and Kara screamed again this time falling to the floor.
"I..i can see.. skeletons." Was all Kara was able to say.
"Barry, somethings wrong." Caitlin looked up at Barry. He knelt down to Kara who was now covering her ears in pain.
"Everything is..it's s...so...loud I'm scared Barry, what's happening to me...I..I can't breath." Barry grabbed Kara and held her tight. she was beginning to have a panic attack.
"Kara listen to me ok. Focus on what you want to hear, listen to my voice. Close your eyes, take deep breaths ok. Now count back from 10 and open your eyes." Kara did as he said and everything went quiet, she opened her eyes and everything was back to normal.
"Better?" Caitlin asked, Kara just nodded, wiping her tears away. Caitlin put on Kara's shoes and they drove to S.T.A.R labs. When they got inside they found Cisco running around typing stuff into the computer and Wally speeding around.
"Is that a guy like you?" Kara pointed at the yellow lighting. Barry just nodded.
"Cisco, what's going on?" Barry asked and Wally stopped running.
"The um, pod girl escaped, we're trying to find her." Barry was a bit confused then he remembered 'oh right Kara.'
"Cisco, Wally!" Wally came to a stop next to Cisco " this is Kara the 'pod girl'." Cisco looked defeated.
"Really Barry, you didn't think to call us? Let us know she was awake. We just spent the last hour trying to find her!" Barry looked apologetic at Cisco and Wally then Caitlin because she told him to call them and let them know.
"Sorry...I forgot." Barry apologized. "Look Cisco, we need you to make something for Kara." Barry asked.
"Sure man whatever you need, and as payment you get me red vines." Barry sped out and came back with red vines. Barry explained Kara and what was going on to Cisco and Wally. And they started to run tests after Cisco geeked out over Kara. As Caitlin attempted to get blood samples. Barry asked Cisco and Wally not to ask about her planet, and informed them that her planet was destroyed.
"Barry I can't get new blood samples." Caitlin walked over to Barry. "What's wrong?" He asked. "The needles keep breaking against her skin." Caitlin informed.
"Yo do you think she's bulletproof?" Cisco started geeking out. "I don't know, but I'm not willing to find out." Barry argued.
"As am I." Caitlin's eyes turned blue, and her voice echoed. She glared at Cisco, to which he almost peed his pants.
It took about 2 hours for everything to get made.
"Alright, now I've lined these glasses with lead so they should keep her from being able to see through things." Cisco told Barry and Caitlin as he put the glasses on Kara.
"What about the super hearing?" Caitlin asked.
"Well after running a couple tests, and trying to find a metal she couldn't break so easily, I'm out of materials. I'm going to need to order more to make something." Cisco concluded.
"So she's going to have to practice getting used to the super hearing?" Barry asked.
"Yeah pretty much." Kara just nodded her head.
"Wally can you fill in Joe on what's going on? and tell him we need to have a meeting at his house." Barry asked.
"Yeah sure thing, bye Kara." Kara waved goodbye to Wally.
"Kara, Caitlin, are you two ready?" Barry asked. Kara looked confused.
"Where are we going?" Kara and Caitlin said in unison.
"Shopping for Kara. And I need to start looking for a bigger apartment or house." Caitlin remembered what their plan was for today.
"Oh right, let me get my purse."
It had taken a couple of hours to get everything that Kara needed, and wanted. Barry had also bought Caitlin a bigger car than the small one she drove. She refused at first but Barry insisted she get a bigger car. They finally got to Joe's house for the meeting. Barry Caitlin and Kara got out of the car and Barry knocked on the door, to Barry's surprise Iris answered the door, Barry and Iris haven't spoken since the break up. About two and a half years ago. Barry had got his memories back from the time he was in the speed force, it had shown him everything he had done wrong and spoke to him about lightning rods, and after a year of marriage Barry began to realize how wrong he was about Iris being his. About three months after Barry started dating Caitlin, Iris had accused Caitlin of stealing Barry from her and attempted to break them up to get Barry back. So he stopped talking to her all together. Soon after Barry decided to resin form the CCPD to try and reopen up S.T.A.R Labs as what it should have been.
"Barry...hey." Iris greeted. "Everyone's inside waiting."
Barry and Caitlin walked in with Kara shyly walking behind Caitlin holding her hand. They all sat down, Caitlin and Barry on the couch with Kara sitting on Caitlins lap, Joe took his usual chair.
"Everyone, this is Kara, she's going to be staying with me and Caitlin." Everyone said hi to Kara and everyone introduced themselves to her.
"Barry, it's nice to meet Kara, but where did she come from?" Iris asked.
"Cait do you want to show Kara my old room?" Barry asked Caitlin. She smiled a little, nodded and went to show Kara Barry's old room.
"Where are we going?" Kara asked she didn't want to leave Barry's side. Caitlin bent down to Kara.
"We're going to let Barry explain you and what happened, and also explain how you're going to be living with us." Kara smiled and they went to go see Barry's old room.
"Alright for starters I want to say thank you to everyone for being here, I know everyone's busy but I wanted to explain to everyone at once. The meteor that crashed four days ago wasn't a meteor, it was Kara, there was a video message in the pod that she came in but it was a bit damaged, Cisco's working on fixing and translating it. Kamilla,...Iris I'm going to need the both of you to try and bury any story that may pop up about the meteor, is that alright?" Kamilla nodded and Iris was hesitant but eventually agreed.
"Well that will be all for now, Ralph, Wally see you at training tomorrow." Barry asked the two boys.
"C'mon more training? I thought this superhero gig was gonna be a lot more fun than training 24/7." Ralph wined as Wally agreed.
"Ralph? Are you going to show up tomorrow?" Ralph just rolled his eyes.
"Don't get your panties in a twist I'll be there." Ralph said.
"Cecile do you mind if I talk to you in private for a minute?" Barry nodded to Cecile to go to the kitchen.
"What's up Barry everything ok?" She asked once they were alone.
"I was wondering if you could help me with something?" He asked a bit nervously.
"Yeah what can I help you with?" Barry had decided he didn't want Kara to be taken away from him if someone found out.
"I was wondering if you could help me adopt Kara? I want her to be able to grow up with somewhat of a normal life here." Cecile softened and all worry went from her body.
"Are you sure Barry? adopting a kid, and raising one is a lot of responsibility. Are you ready for that?" She asked because he had a lot going on.
"I've never been more ready, and financially stable in my life." Cecile looked a bit confused and wanted to ask about his financial stability, because she's seen his apartment. So she did.
"Barry, ho..how financially stable are you?" She finally asked, curious to know the answer. Barry found the question a bit weird but pulled out his phone to show Cecile.
"As Caitlin put it I'm 'as rich as Bill Gates', but I'm sure he's richer than I am." Ceciles eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw how rich he was.
"Barry!..." She covered her mouth to silence herself. "How do you have that much money?" She whispered. "I mean I know you got money from the precinct after the coma, but dam." Barry laughed a bit at her reaction.
"Well Dr Wells left me everything he owned, including a lot of property. I've been going through everything that he owned to see if he left anything from the future behind, and selling things that S.T.A.R Labs doesn't need." Barry explained what he's been doing in his down time.
"Oh ok, well it'll take me a day or two to get the papers ready, but I'll get back to you." Barry turned to go upstairs to go see how his girlfriend and future daughter were doing. Caitlin was talking to Kara and telling her stories of how Barry saved her and many others, until she heard Barry knock on the door.
"Are you guys ready to go? We can start looking for a new place tomorrow?" Barry, Caitlin, and Kara said their goodbyes and good nights. When the little family got to Barry's apartment Caitlin got Kara situated, and Barry started on dinner.
"Caitlin are you and Barry uvrreosh?" Kara asked and Caitlin was confused. Kara saw how confused she was so she pointed to the ring on a necklace. Caitlin instantly knew what she was talking about and her face was more red than Barry's suit.
"Um...no we're not married. This is from my dead husband. Me and Barry are together though, we are working up to that point I guess." She tried to explain. Kara got the gist of it.
"Caitlin?..." Kara really likes Caitlin, she knows that she's not her mom and she can never replace her but ever scents she got here they've acted as her parents, plus she never knew her father and her mom was never really a mom she was always working or too busy for her.
".. I call you ? I know I'm not your real daughter...but you've been more of a mom than my real mom, and I never knew my real dad" Kara wanted Caitlin to be her mom so bad, and Barry her dad. She just didn't know if they wanted her in that way.
"Kara sweetie you can call me anything you like ok, just don't call frost mom." Kara's smile was so big her face hurt.
"And I'm sure Barry would love to be your dad if you wanted, maybe just ask him first ok." Kara just nodded. And as if on cue.
"Girls dinner is ready." Kara ran to Barry because she was starving, Caitlin just pouted in response to being called a girl. "I'm not a girl, I'm a fully grown woman." Barry giggled at how adorable Caitlin looks when she pouts.
"Ok snowflake." Caitlin can't contain how her heart flutters every time Barry finds a new nickname to call her, or the blush that appears on her cream skin. They ate their dinner, got ready for bed and Barry plugged in an asteroid night light for Kara. They all slept and cuddled together for the rest of the night.
