It was a bright and sunny day at the small island in the middle of of Ontario, an atmosphere that was soon to be disturbed forever by one man and his film crew. There was a small dock, just near the beach of the island, one which had the man himself upon it. He had a shining smile, one that said, "I'm a winner," all over it, and a mop of black hair that's messiness seemed to fit him well. His face was chiseled giving him a handsome, yet devilish appearance. His attire was simple, but it looked quite nice on him, consisting of a blue, collared tee with two pockets on either side of the chest, and a white, long-sleeved shirt underneath it. He also had a pair of faded green cargo pants, his outfit completed with a pair of blue and white sneakers.
"Yo, what's up world?" the man started to speak with a tone that suggested he knew what he was doing, "I'm Chris McLean, but assuming you've ever watched anything on T.V. you already know that. I'm standing here on a dinky little island in the middle of Muskoka, Ontario. Why, you ask? Well, it's to announce the latest in hit reality T.V. game shows: Total Drama! Here, at this run down little summer camp called Camp Wawanakwa-"
Chris stopped speaking for a moment, just to gesture to the campsite behind him. It was rundown alright, with a main lodge that clearly needed some patchwork, and two cabins that looked like they were being held together by paperclips and glue.
"We'll be inviting twenty-two teenagers from random territories, states, and countries to come participate in our little show. They'll be put into two teams, each team having to face off against each other every few days in challenges that are gonna make them wish they never left their homes to come here. At the end of every challenge, there's gonna be a loser, and the losing team will have to go here-"
He stopped for a second, suddenly shifting gears and arriving at a campfire area with several log seats before it and a podium, which he was standing at. Something about the area just made it feel unwelcoming.
"To the dramatic campfire ceremony, where they will have to vote against somebody on their team in hopes to save their own skin and get them booted out. Once ya get voted off by your team, we'll have no choice but to send you away from the island as you walk the dock of shame to catch the boat of losers-"
He gestured to the dock, which had a dinky little boat at the end of it.
"To never return to the island ever. Why would anybody want to compete in this show? Well, it's for fame, excitement, and most of all, a whopping grand prize of one hundred thousand dollars!"
Chris pulled out a briefcase, opening it to reveal wads of cash that would make any money lover go bonkers. He was quick to shut it and tuck it away in his seemingly bottomless pockets again, but the glimpse of the money was promising.
"Well, it's almost time to meet our contestants, and man, are they a real bunch of weirdos. Who will have to deal with me for the summer and who will end up on a team with each other? You can find out right now, on Total...Drama...Island!"
"Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine," as the opening theme started to kick up, a camera whooshed its way through the island, passing by Chris and the Sasquatchanakwa until it reached the top of the thousand foot cliff, leaping off of it and diving into the water.
"You guys are on my mind," under the water, Duke found himself wrestling a shark, after just having made his dive into it.
"You asked me what I wanted to be and I think the answer's plain to see," on top of the water, in a small boat, Veronica was clinging onto Roxy's arm for dear life, until Duke popped up from underneath with the shark in his arms, causing the frightened girl to jump out of the boat with a scream, all while Roxy glared at Duke.
"I wanna be famous!" in the forest of the island, Lyle was playing the flute to calm a herd of bears around him, which Wendell and Annalise, who were off to the side in the bushes, threw rocks at, causing them to chase after Lyle.
"I wanna live close to the sun," on top of a waterfall, Leslie was bouncing up and down in a raft, while Hellen wrote something down in her book, neither of them noticing that they were about to go over the waterfall.
"So pack your bags, cause I've already won," the raft continued to fall down the fall, passing by Percival, who was practicing his swordplay while standing on a log that bridged a gap.
"Everything to prove, nothing in my way, I'll get there one day," suddenly, Lukas and Peggy came running from one side of the gap, knocking Percival into the water as they ran past, revealing the Sasquatchanakwa to be chasing them, until all three crashed into the confessional booth and knocked Bobby out of it and onto the ground.
"I wanna be famous!" Rolf was being held captive by Chef, who was making some disgusting looking soup in a pot, while Josef plugged his ears nearby, being annoyed by Desiree and her non-stop blabbing.
"Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na," on the steps to the beach outside, Francis and Evander watched Elicia intently as she performed some scene from a famous play on the sands, though a fish hit her in the head and knocked her to the ground, followed by Evander conking Francis on the back of the head.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" back on the dock, Claudia was playing her harp beautifully until and octopus tentacle grabbed her and launched her into the side of the lodge.
"I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!" at the campfire ceremony, Gene and Harriett were both leaning in to kiss each other before Colleen popped up in between them, slapping her ruler against the palm of her hand while the rest of the group whistled in unison, all sitting around the same campfire.
Chris found himself back on the dock when the opening ended, looking at a watch on his wrist before hearing the sound of a motor in the distance. He peered out into the lake, noticing a small boat approaching, with one passenger on board.
"Look at that," Chris said to the camera that was still pointed at him, "Looks like we got our first victim- I mean, contestant!"
Not even five seconds later, the boat reached the dock, revealing a fairly tall, husky boy on top of it. His skin was pretty pale, and the sun shining on it made it seem like he would get a sunburn within a minute of standing outside. His hair was a dark brown color, and it was incredibly short, almost being a buzz cut. To match it, he had hazel eyes, which were hidden behind enormous, black-framed glasses, and a neck beard that would make anyone suggest a shave upon seeing it. His outfit almost seemed like some sort of uniform, having a yellow polo on, with a blue lanyard that had a badge of some sorts at the end of it. His white pants were held up by a black belt, and he had had black, non-slip shoes, the kind that your work forces you to wear. With him, he had several suit cases, all covered with a plastic layer to keep them from getting wet. He walked out onto the dock, carefully making sure none of his bags were left behind, and walked up to Chris.
"Ah, you must be Eugene," Chris greeted the boy, glancing at him with some concern for his looks.
"Gene is fine," the boy replied, "People used to call me 'Ew Gene,' so I dropped the first two letters."
"I can kinda see why, dude."
Gene rolled his eyes, taking some time to scan the campsite that was nearby them, instantly gaining a look of uncertainty as he did.
"What's with this dinky camp? I thought we were gonna be at some resort?"
"Oh, you know," Chris looked off to the side awkwardly, "Sometimes these advertisements can be a little misleading, is all. You can go on to the end of the dock, we've got some more company on their way!"
The boy sigh, carrying his many bags to the end of the dock as the next ship approached. This one had an average sized girl on board, though, even her average height was still about half a foot shorter than Gene. She had beautiful, dark skin, which was complimented by her dark brown eyes and purple hair, that which was wavy and went to the middle of her neck before stopping. Her outfit was simple enough, with a light purple hoodie that was unzipped to show a white tee underneath, one that had the word, "theater," on it in black, cursive lettering. Below that, she wore khaki shorts, and had tan flip flops with a purple strap. She had only one suitcase, in contrast to Gene and his many, and when she reached the dock, she hopped out of the boat with a look of amazement upon her face.
"Elicia, what's up girl?" Chris greeted her, judging her a lot less than he did Gene.
"Oh, I'm so excited to be here, Mr. Chris!" she cheered as she approached him, giving him a loose hug, "I gotta say, I didn't expect a place like this when I signed up, but that's alright! When do we get to start playing the improv games?"
"Er...maybe later. For now, we've gotta twenty more teens to greet. And our next one is right there!"
Chris gestured to the lake, where another boat was on its way to them, and Elicia bounced over to where Gene was. He looked down at her, a little confused as to why she was so excited about being stuck here, but she looked back up with a bright smile on her face. The next boat reached the dock with another girl in tow, this one being almost as tall as Gene, and with a muscular build that would look threatening to anyone who messed with her. Her skin was a warm ivory color, with light brown hair done in a short ponytail to match, all complimented by her dark grey eyes. Her outfit was intense, making her look like some sort of school principal. She had on a maroon suit jacket, one which sat atop a black dress shirt that had a white tie around the collar. Her black dress pants were perfectly ironed, not a single crease on them, and her black dress shoes shined in the sunlight. As she carried her one bag off of her boat, she also adjusted her red, round-framed glasses, showing an intense glare behind them that shot out at all three people on the dock.
"You're Colleen, right?" Chris asked as the girl approached him, gulping in fear upon noticing just how much taller she was than he.
"Indeed, I am," she replied coldly, "Fix your posture. If you keep standing like that your spine is going to collapse."
Chris looked a tad confused, but when the girl pulled a ruler from out of her bag and cracked it against the palm of her hand, he was threatened enough to stand up straight. The two who were already at the end of the dock felt their eyes widen, and straightened their own posture to avoid the ruler slapping gesture. She approached them, setting her bag down neatly and dusting her pants off, not saying a word to either of them. Soon, the fourth boat made its way to the dock, with another boy riding in it. This was the tallest person yet, though only slightly taller than Gene. He was also built like a bodybuilder, his biceps exposed to show off just how strong he was. His skin tone was Ivory, though he had turned red as if he was working out while in the boat. His hair was in a crew cut, dirty blonde in color, and his eyes were a deep blue that one could get lost in if it weren't for the rest of him. He looked like your standard wrestler, wearing a tank top, which was purple and had white lightning bolts on the front and back of it, black cargo shorts, and black wrestling boots. He stood atop a turnbuckle, which he somehow had on the boat with him, and leapt from it with his bag in hand, landing right in front of the boat before reaching back and grabbing the very thing he had just leapt from.
"Duke, what's up, man?" Chris greeted him as he was approached by him.
"The Dukester is here to lay the smackdown on Total Drama!" the boy shouted, pulling out a microphone from his pocket and speaking into it as if he was being interviewed. "Where's my competition?"
"Well, you've got three people over there."
Chris gestured to the three, two of which waved at him while Colleen simply glared, clearly not fond of the boy and his exterior.
"Er, I was hoping for a match-up of the century type deal, no offense to you guys."
"None taken," Gene replied, trying not to be intimidating by another camper.
"You're a sweaty mess," Colleen noted, crossing her arms at him angrily. "You will take a shower as soon as they show us to the washrooms."
"What!?" Duke shouted back at her, annoyed with her nitpicking, "I'm basking in the sun, enjoying the rumble that I'll inevitably be a part of! Who the heck are you to tell me what to do!?"
"Uh, can ya move it along, dude?" Chris interrupted the boy, who was gritting his teeth at Colleen, "I've kinda got other people to greet."
Duke moved on to the end of the dock, glaring at Colleen all the way, and dragging his turnbuckle behind him. The next boat approached with another boy on board, this one a lot less threatening and intense than Duke. He was average in height, with pale skin that suggested he was from Northern Europe. His hair was a light, blonde color, and it just went past his ears, looking as if he just rolled out of bed with the messy look. It was well complimented by his bright, blue eyes, the kind that could easily captivate any girl. He wore a blue hoodie, which was zipped all the way up and had the sleeves rolled up to reveal a rubber bracelet on his left wrist. He also had on grey sweatpants, which were a little too long, considering how they were bunched up at the end of his legs, and blue rain boots. He got off of the boat, grabbing a beanie from his bag, one which was blue and had a smiley face on it, and tossing it on his head, keeping his messy hair contained, for the most part. He approached Chris with an optimistic look on his face.
"And you're Lukas, nice to meet ya," the host greeted him, holding out his hand for a high five.
Lukas was quick to give him said high five, before looking around as if he was trying to find out what to do. He gestured to the group of four at the end of the dock, looking at Chris in question.
"Yep, just head right back there."
The boy gave the man a thumbs up, carrying his bag with him to the end and waving at the people around him, some of them being a little confused as to why he wasn't making any noise.
"What's up, Lukas?" Elicia asked, trying to be friendly.
Her question was answered by a bunch of hand gestures, most of which she had no idea what they meant, but the gist of it clicked in her head.
"Ohhhh, you can't speak?"
He nodded, pulling out a small pad from his pocket before extending it to reveal it as a dry erase board. With a black marker, he scribbled something down on it quickly, turning to show it to her.
"I can write things down if none of you know sign language, if that's better?" it read, to which Elicia nodded.
"Sorry! I haven't taken any sign classes yet, but maybe I should! It could open my horizons to new roles as well."
Elicia trailed off into thought, a smirk on her face while Lukas tried to figure out what exactly she was doing. It wasn't long before the next boat came to the dock, this one with a short girl on board. Her skin tone was a honey color, and her hair was black and curly, stopping right after her ears. Her eyes were unique in comparison to the others, being brown with green spots speckled throughout them. She had on a pink tee shirt, which had a thought bubble in the center of it that had the words "So What if I'm a Blabbermouth?" inside it in black lettering. She also had dark blue jeans, which were cut off right below her knees, and pink sneakers with rainbow shoelaces. She carried her one bag off of the boat, approaching Chris while looking him up and down.
"How's it going, Desiree?" he asked, maintaining his charming smile.
"Oh, it's going great!" she answered, her voice hinting that she had a lot more to say, "You know, before my boyfriend broke up with me for telling everyone he sleeps with a teddy bear still, I know, what's his deal? I told him I was gonna audition for this show so I could go hang out with you and all the others! I even found out some cool facts about you, Chris! I bet most people didn't know that you once shoved a mother out of the way in a line for coffee because you needed it that bad! That was some crazy stuff!"
Chris felt the five people behind him glaring into the back of his head upon hearing that, and as such, he let out an annoyed sigh, gesturing to the end of the dock.
"Okay, chatterbox, why don't you join the others over there while we meet someone a little less obnoxious?"
"Yikes, what's your deal?"
Desiree scoffed at Chris, passing him by to join the others, none of them really wanting to spark up a conversation with her, considering what she had just said to Chris.
"Oh, I don't know any of you guys, but you can totally trust me with all your secrets! I'm a great listener, and I would never ever spill them to anyone! Oh, there was this one time that my sister told me about this boy she liked, and I told him and she got all mad at me! Like, what's her problem?"
"Oh boy," Gene mumbled to Duke, "She's gonna be fun to have around."
"What?" Duke shouted right back in his face, "You need to speak up, man! The fans can't hear you!"
"Ow, dude...loud."
"What!?"
"Nevermind!"
The next boat came quickly, with another boy on board. Loud sixties rock and roll could be heard bursting from a stereo that he had propped on his right shoulder. He was tall and slightly tanned, and his appearance suggested that he may have been a greaser. He had his hair styled in a black pompadour, with a small black goatee adorning his chin in a stylish manner. His green eyes were well hidden behind a pair of dark sunglasses, ones that gave off the impression that he was cool. His outfit made him suit the greaser part even more, consisting of a black, leather jacket, complete with spikes on the shoulders, a torn, white tee under it, and black, leather gloves that had spikes on the knuckles. Below that, he had on a pair of black pants, which had rips and tears all over the knees, and a pair of black boots that had spikes on the toes. He was intimidating, but in a way that made Elicia and Desiree swoon at the sight of him, though Colleen was unphased. He got off the boat, turning off his music as he approached Chris, stereo and bag in his hands.
"If it isn't the coolest dude on the planet, Evander!" Chris greeted him, wanting to give the boy a fist bump but choosing not to, due to the spikes.
"Ey, what gives?" Evander took his sunglasses off for a moment as he glanced over the setting, "This ain't what I was promised, and I don't dig it."
"Sorry, dude, but this is the real Camp Wawanakwa."
"Camp? The fliers said it was a resort, not a camp. I don't take to kindly to liars. I'm outta here."
"I'd welcome you to leave, but it looks like your ride's already taken off."
Chris gestured to where the boat was, revealing that it was no longer there. Evander rolled his eyes, putting his sunglasses back on as Elicia and Desiree rushed over to him, each grabbing one of his things.
"I can carry this bag for you, cool guy!" Elicia chirped, blushing brightly with his bag in her hands.
"And I can totally carry your stereo!" Desiree clutched the sound system tightly, "I won't drop it, I promise!"
"Ladies, ladies," the boy chuckled, grabbing both of his things back before walking with them to the rest of the group. "We only just met, no need to fall in love so early."
"Agreed," Colleen grumbled, "No need to swoon over such a messy child."
"Eh? What's your deal, tutz?"
"You have tears in your clothing, it's shameful. Shameful!"
"Who died and made you queen?"
As the two continued to bicker with each other, another boat had docked, with a toned girl on board. She was short, not to the extent of Desiree, but short, nonetheless. She was of Hawaiian descent, being noted by her gorgeous, black, wavy hair that went past her shoulder to the middle of her back, and her beautifully tanned skin. Her eyes were black to match her hair, and they scanned the island with a glimmer of excitement. She had on a pink Hawaiian shirt, one which had red flowers scattered about it, tan short shorts, and tan hiking sandals that were made for an island such as this. Completing her ensemble was a red backpack, one which was packed to the brim, and far larger than her body. She leapt off of the boat, teetering slightly forward from the weight of her backpack, but catching herself before she could fall, and ran up to Chris to shake his hand.
"Wow, wow, wow!" she cheered in amazement, "This island is gorgeous! And I was worried that we were gonna be stuck at some stupid resort for the summer! I'm so glad!"
"Wait, you actually like this place?" Chris asked, astonished by her behavior, "You must be Harriett, then?"
"That's my name, adventuring's my game!"
"Why don't ya go venture to the end of the dock with the others while we wait for the rest of the campers?"
"Sounds good to me, boss! Hi, everyone!"
She waved as she ran over to the group, most of them waving back, except for Colleen, who could care less about the pleasantries. Lukas looked over at Gene, noticing that his jaw had dropped at the sight of her. The mute boy nudged his side, catching his attention, and wrote something down on his board.
"You good?" the board read.
"U-uh, yeah!" Gene replied, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly, "She's just...wow, ya know?"
"Why don't you go talk to her?"
"Well, I mean...look at her. And look at me. Why would someone that gorgeous want to even talk to my fatass?"
"Don't be so hard on yourself, it won't hurt to say hi."
"I guess you're right," Gene mumbled, glancing over at Harriett, who was setting her backpack on the ground. "E-excuse me..."
"Huh?" Harriett looked over her shoulder, noticing the boy trying to speak to her, "Oh, hi!"
"Uh..."
Gene found himself at a loss for words, and his glasses fogged up, causing Lukas to facepalm in shared second person embarrassment.
"Are you alright?"
"Uh...uh..."
"Oh, gosh..."
In the midst of the awkward moment, another boat arrive at the dock, this one with another boy on it. He was very short, yet still taller than Desire by a couple inches, with muscles that made him look even shorter somehow. His skin was a handsome chestnut tone, and he had a mess of black hair that went down to his shoulders. His eyes were black to match, and he had thick muttonchops that made him look even more unkempt. His outfit made him look like he worked at a zoo, with a tan cargo shirt and tan cargo shorts to match, along with a pair of black, hiking boots, and white socks that went all the way up his legs. He carried a tan knapsack, holding it over his right shoulder as he hopped off of the boat that he arrived on. Like Harriett, he was quite excited to see the natural setting.
"There he is," Chris started, aiming finger guns at the boy, "Lyle!"
"Hey, Chris!" the boy said happily, "This is where we're staying for the summer? Pretty sweet! What's the wildlife like?"
"Oh, you'll find your average forest fauna here, along with some...surprises."
"Surprises? I like the sound of that! I can't wait to meet all the animals! Oh, hey! Other people are here already, what's up?"
The boy rushed over to the group to great everyone, Evander struggling to hold in his laughter at the boy's miniscule height.
"Hey, pipsqueak," the cool guy caught Lyle's attention, "Where's the rest of ya at?"
"Huh? What are you...ohhhh, because I'm short, right? I'm actually the tallest in my family, believe it or not!"
"Eh? You live with a buncha gnomes or something?"
"I'd love to be a gnome and be even closer to nature, but alas, I'm but a human."
"Alright, weirdo."
The next boat that arrived brought along another girl, a short one, though she was just slightly taller than Lyle, causing Evander to chuckle once more. She had what could only be described as the "perfect tan," which was complimented by silky, silver hair which fell right below her shoulders. Her eyes were the same, captivating bright blue that Lukas' were, and they were complimented by a sharp, red lipstick that made some of the boys look at her and blush. She had a red, glittery dress on, that went all the way down to her heels, with red high heels on her feet, and elbow-length red gloves. These were all joined by a blue ribbon, which was on the left side of her chest, saying "first place" on it. She got off the boat carefully, glaring at Chris as she pulled out all five of her suitcases, one by one.
"Where are your manners, host?" she asked, rudely, "Someone should be getting these bags for me."
"I'm gonna go ahead and guess by that nasty attitude that you're Annalise?" Chris asked, clearly uninterested in her snobbiness.
"Oh, you're pea brain can actually get something right? Color me surprised, considering that you made me grab my own things, I had to ride on a shaky boat, and we aren't even at a resort! Just a stupid little, island with a stupid, little host!"
"That's right," Colleen smirked at the girl, "Call him out, he needs to pay the price of his lies."
"Alright, alright," Chris groaned, "Just go over there with the others."
Annalise continued to gripe about everything as she joined the group, choosing to distance herself from the likes of Gene and Lyle, instead standing near Colleen. The next boat came to a halt at the dock, carrying a boy with a sleak, silver laptop in his right hand. Not only was he pale-skinned, but his blue eyes were pale in color, and even the blonde in his hair, a messy, wavy style, was faint. He had a handle bar mustache, one which added to this sort of hipster vibe that he was giving off. His outfit was entirely designer made, from his long, grey jacket, to the black dress shoes he wore. Aside from those, he had an elegant, tan turtle neck sweater, a dark pair of jeans that fit him tightly, and a black belt with a shiny, gold belt buckle. He was extremely careful as he stepped off of the boat, looking out at his surroundings with a look of dismay.
"I am at the right place, yes?" he asked Chris, at least recognizing him from the flier.
"You are indeed, Rolf," the host answered the question with a charming grin, bringing forth a sigh from the boy.
"I suppose the exterior of this place doesn't matter for my true goal here..."
The boy gave off an incredibly ominous vibe as he spoke his words, even letting out some muffled chuckling and holding his head like a crazy person. The others watched him, wary of what he may be up to, at least until he finally let the words escape his mouth.
"...To create the newest in hit food blogs, Getting Real with Rolf! It'll be so charming to enjoy the food that you have to offer, I hear it is oh so delightful on reality shows! I can't wait to be the first in line to meet your chef! I'm sure they're just delightful!"
"Oh, I think you're in for a real treat, dude."
The blogger's eyes shined as he approached the other's, Annalise letting out a sigh as he did so.
"All that build up just to be another wimpy let down," she mumbled, "Figures. All the handsome ones are either complete morons or scaredy cats."
As she mumbled to herself, another boat approached, with yet another boy riding in it. This one was a bit of an oddball in comparison to the others, and that really was saying something. He was, like most of them, fairly taller than your average teenager, with fair skin, wavy, blonde hair that was kept incredibly neat, and stopped right before his neck, as well as deep, brown eyes. What was so off about him, however, was that he wore a full suit of steel armor, excluding the helmet, of course. It had it all, from the breastplate, to the greaves, and the gauntlets, not to mention the stylish, blue cloak that clung to his shoulders, displaying a family crest of some sort on it. He gallantly hopped off of the boat, taking a bow before his host, and grabbing his things shortly after.
"Percival, loving the armor," Chris greeted him warmly, "Do you always go out like that, or is this a special occasion?"
"Ah, Chris, is it?" Percival bowed once more, "I'm humbled that you've invited me to this island. I assure you, a knight of the Quinn family doesn't disappoint!"
"Yo, is that guy for real?" Evander nudged Colleen, getting a smack from her ruler for doing so.
"I don't know, but keep your hands off of me," she snapped, "I don't want to imagine where someone as filthy as you has been."
"Ey, lady! You got a mad case of big ol' bitch syndrome."
"Watch your tongue, or it'll be snipped off."
Noticing the argument ensuing, Percival rushed over to the two, standing between them and pushing them apart.
"Now, sir, lady," he greeted them with his soothing tone, "Let's not make enemies on the first day, now!"
Colleen slapped her ruler against him, though his suit of armor cracked it, causing her eyes to narrow into a fierce glare, unlike the loose one before.
"How dare you?" she hissed, "Mark my words, you will pay for this..."
With that, she scooted further to the side of the deck, causing Evander to grin at Percival.
"Ey, yo!" he called the young knight's attention, "The name's Evander, you were Percival, yeah?"
"Indeed. A pleasure it is to meet you."
"No need for the formalities, fella! Mind if I call ya Percy? Keep it short and sweet, cause we're gonna be tight!"
"Uh...hm...I guess that's fine. I've never had a nickname before, but it's nice to make friends."
"Me and you are gonna be the kings of this whole island, buddy! That, I can guarantee!"
Another boat came along, this one with a girl of average height on board. She bounced up and down, giddy as can be, causing the boat to shake heavily on the waters. She had blonde pigtails, which were held together by pink hair ties, and greyish-green eyes that wandered around frantically. She had on a pink crop top, one which was topped by a white hoodie, unzipped with the sleeves rolled up past her elbows. She also had light blue skinny jeans, and red shoes, which had a slight heel to them. She was quick to leap onto the dock, having both of her bags in her hands, though she was shaking so rapidly that whatever was packed inside must've been messed up beyond belief. Interested in meeting the man behind it all, she bounced over to the host, smiling brightly at him.
"Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi!" she chanted the word over and over, "You're Chris, right? Oh, I've heard so much about you! You're so handsome in person, it's crazy! Oh my gosh, other people!"
Without letting Chris get a word in, she bounced over to the others on the dock, all of which were a tad concerned to see the intense amount of energy that she was exerting by doing so.
"And that's Leslie," Chris mumbled, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, you guys seem awesome! I can't wait to be friends with everyone! I'm Leslie! L-E-S-L-I-E! You can call me Les, or Lie, or Lieles if you want! Bahahaha! This is so exciting, don't all of you think so?"
"Woah, now!" Duke grabbed her shoulders, trying to hold her in place, but finding even his own heavyweight body shaking from her energy. "You need to calm down!"
"Oh, oh, oh! Sorry! I just get so excited about these things! This is a big adventure! I'm sure you understand!"
"I like your energy!" Harriett butted in, "I'm Harriett! Nice to meet you, Leslie!"
"Ooooh! You're pretty! I bet all the boys are gonna swoon for you! One time a boy swooned for me! Well, I thought he did, but really, he was just throwing up because I accidentally kicked him in the nuggets!"
"Oh! Uh...that's cool?"
"Haha! He hasn't talked to me since that day! Wonder how he's been?"
As the excitement at that end of the dock continued, another boat stopped at the opposite end. This one had another girl on board, one who was the same height as Annalise, though she had a significantly different build. She was a bit chubby, and she had pale skin. It was easy to see that she spent most of her time inside her house. Her eyes were blue, and her hair was a ginger color, matching the freckles on her face. The hair itself was long and straight, going down past her shoulders, but not by much. She had on a tan sweater, with black cuffs at the end of the arms, and a picture of a book in the center of it, black sweatpants, and red sneakers that were a little worse for wear. What stood out about her most was the red scarf she had on, which covered her mouth, so no one could see whether she was smiling, frowning, grinning, or whatever. She stepped off of the boat gently, grabbing her things from it and slowly walking towards Chris, a little nervous about the whole introduction.
"I'm gonna guess that you're...Peggy?" he asked, looking her up and down, wondering why she was so nervous.
"Yeah," she mumbled, avoiding eye contact with him entirely. "Do I just go over there with...all those...people?"
"Yep, right on over there next to anyone you feel like standing near."
Peggy gulped nervously, dragging her things behind her before setting them down near Lukas, who waved to her happily. She rose her hand to wave back, but struggled to actually do the motion itself. The boy scribbled down on his board quickly, causing her to cock an eyebrow in interest.
"I'm Lukas! It's nice to meet you, Peggy!"
"...Nice to meet you, too," she said, shifting her glance to the side and rubbing her arm awkwardly, "You don't have to talk to me, though...I'll just bore you to death..."
"I can't talk anyways, so I'm just gonna write to you!"
Peggy read his board, looking up from it to see a smug expression on his face that made her stifle a chuckle. The next boat came quickly, this time with a cross-armed boy on board. Compared to most of the rather tall boys that had arrived, he was quite short, though still almost half a foot taller than Lyle. His skin was a rosy color, tanned well from the sun, and his hair was a sharp brown, slicked back and a medium length. His eyes were something fascinating, being hazel in color, but having red spots speckled about them. He dressed with a sort of style that intrigued Annalise and Colleen. He had on a light green, button down shirt, which was complimented by a black and white striped bow tie. The shirt was tucked into a dark pair of khakis, those being held up by a leather belt, and matched with a sleak pair of brown dress shoes. Completing his ensemble was a wrist watch on his right wrist, one that looked like it could've cost him a fortune. He stepped off of the boat quickly, grabbing his one suit case as he scanned the island with his intense eyes, walking over to Chris soon after.
"Wendell!" the host greeted, holding out his hand for a shake, "How was the trip from Australia?"
"Long," the boy replied, not bothering to give Chris the opportunity to shake his hand before walking towards the others. "This island is far different than I imagined...how interesting."
"Look at the ensemble on that boy," Colleen mumbled to Annalise, "Now, that is one well put together gentleman."
"Oh, I agree," Annalise replied, a smirk on her face, "I can't wait to see what he's like."
"Ladies," Wendell nodded his head to them as he passed them by, standing behind them.
The next boat came fast, with another boy on it. This boy was of average height, and had a little bit of weight to him, but nothing to Gene's extent. He was another pale contestant, it seemed that quite a few of these "I don't go outside often" people had come to the show to be outside. His hair was shaggy and brown, covering his eyes and ears, and it surely would've covered the rest of his face if it was just a tad longer. He had stubble all over his cheeks and chin, clearly unkempt beyond belief, much different than the previous camper to arrive. He had a navy blue tee shirt on, though it had stains from food and drinks all over it, and it made everyone feel as if he hadn't changed it in days or...maybe even weeks. Underneath it, there was a long-sleeved white tee, one which had much less stains on it, surprisingly. He also had a pair of jeans on, those which had a couple tears over them, and black sneakers with the laces completely untied. He got off the boat, bringing with him a bucket of cheese puffs and one large suit case, walking right on over to Chris.
"Bobby, dude!" Chris greeted him while pinching his own nose, "What's up, man?"
"Nothing much, dude," the unkempt boy replied, stuffing some of the snacks into his mouth, "I'm just glad to be here, is all."
"We're glad to have you here...but you may wanna take a shower soon. I can't imagine the others are gonna enjoy that smell you've got too much."
"I smell? Woah, that's crazy, man."
Ignoring the host's words, the boy joined the group of people, most of which shifted away from him, excluding Lyle and Gene, who had smelled worse in their days.
"Bobby, huh?" Lyle patted him on the back, "Nice to meet ya, friend!"
"Yooooo," Bobby glanced over at Gene, "Am I dreaming, or is that a leprechaun?"
"Oh, definitely a leprechaun," the tech wizard replied with a chuckle.
"Aye!" Lyle chirped, clapping his shoes together in a happy dance, "I need ta find me pot of gold!"
The group of three laughed among each other, each of them knowing that they were going to get along just fine while they were here. Along came the next boat, this one with a girl in it, one just slightly taller than the boy that had got to the dock before her. She was of Asian descent, and had pale, pink colored eyes that were fixed on a journal that she was writing in. Her hair was dyed blonde, and it was very messy, stopping right at her shoulders. She wore a green sweater, one with a picture of a narwhal on it, that looked incredibly cozy in comparison to some of the other campers' outfits, a pleated, blue short skirt, and knee high black boots. Her eyes were also complimented by a pair of sharp-framed glasses that fit on her face nicely. She got off the boat quickly, grabbing one bag from behind her and carrying it over with her as she walked to Chris.
"Hey there, Hellen, I'm-" Chris was cut off by the girl opening her book and speaking above him.
"Chris McLean," she stated in a matter-of-fact tone, "You've been in several different types of television up to this point. I saw you in your ice skating championship where some pair got third because the guy dropped the girl on her head. It was quite fascinating to me, I just had to chart it down."
"Uh...it's nice to be recognized? You can go...stand over there."
Hellen smirked as she passed him by, quickly joining the rest of the group and reading something from her book once more.
"Did you all know that sloths can hold their breath longer than dolphins? I think that's quite-"
She stopped speaking all of the sudden, her eyes having landed on Percival, noticing his gentle expression. She blushed a bright red color as she looked at him, turning to another page in her book quickly.
"I-it's quite possible for women to be knights, not just men! S-so, maybe you, sir, would be willing to train me in your knightly ways?"
"Ah, I don't know about that," Percival replied awkwardly, "It really is an intense regimen..."
She suddenly turned to sulking, closing her journal and tucking it into her bag while Evander let out a sigh.
"Man, that chick was totally into you!" he said to his newly made pal, "Ya can't be oblivious to the ladies feelings."
"She was? I thought she was just interested in the way of the knight. It is quite a fascinating thing to be a part of."
"Sure, pal. She blushed as red as pasta sauce because she wanted to learn about being a knight."
Percival was still a bit out of the loop while the next boat made its way to the dock, with another boy on board. This one was quite shrimpy in comparison to the people who were already there, not being much taller than tiny Desiree. He was pale, though by the wimpy vibe he gave off, it seemed like he would be a "stuffed into lockers" kind of kid. His hair was the same ginger color as Peggy's, only his was curly, and very short. He had pale blue eyes that were staring off into the distance, barely paying attention to his surroundings. His outfit looked like that of your typical "geek," having a long-sleeved, orange shirt, one which had a graphic of a monster destroying a city on it. That shirt was half-tucked into a tan pair of cargo shorts, and he wore a pair of brown sneakers that had seen better days. As he got off the boat and grabbed his things, he accidentally tugged on them a bit too hard, making one of his bags hit him in the face and knock him to the ground. Chris looked down at him, pulling him up with one hand.
"So, little guy," the host chuckled at him, "You're Francis? Or do you prefer Frank?"
"Francis," he mumbled, "Frank is far too manly a name for me."
"Ya got that right," Evander mumbled.
"Well, Francis," Chris continued, "Why don't you go join the others over there? We've still got four more people on their way, I believe."
"Understood. I'll try not to annoy anyone too much."
The boy carried his things with him to the end of the dock, only to be tripped by Annalise sticking her foot in front of him. He hit the deck with a thud, again, but he was quickly helped up by the ever-shaking Leslie.
"Hi, hi, hi!" she greeted him, "You really fell hard there, huh? Now you keep falling! I'm Leslie! Hi!"
"Uh, hi? You're...really energetic. Just like that one superhero: Sugar Rush Girl."
"Huh? I don't know what that is! Maybe I'll find out someday, yeah!"
Francis giggled a little as she continued to bounce over and over again, and the next boat arrived. Another girl was on board, this one just as tall as Hellen. Her skin was a gorgeous nutmeg tone, and she had hazel eyes that glimmered as everyone saw them. Her hair was black, and done in a low bun, looking quite elegant on her. Her ensemble was quite proper, as well, with a green vest buttoned over a white, button-down shirt, one which had its cuffs buttoned as well. The shirt was tucked into a nice pair of tan dress pants, which had a brown leather belt holding them up, and she wore black dress shoes. It seemed that quite a few of the campers had an eye for elegant outfits. She stepped off of the boat, lifting up a very large instrument case, struggling to do so without breaking a sweat, and placed it on the dock, causing it to creak a little and scare her.
"This dock is surely secure, right?" she asked the host before remembering her manners, "Ah, pardon me! Claudia McNellan, pleased to meet your acquaintance."
"It's secure enough to support...whatever that is," Chris answered her, "What's in there, anyway?"
"Ah, it's my harp! I do so enjoy to play the harp, I find it helps increase positivity in moments of unrest."
"Oh, I like her!" Elicia whispered to Desiree.
"She reminds me of this one fancy foreign exchange student my school had once," the blabbermouth returned, starting to ramble once more, "Her name was also Claudia, and she also loved to play the harp! She left after this one day that she peed herself in front of the whole class. Never did find out what happened to her."
As Claudia dragged her harp behind her, she noticed the girl who was just speaking, recognizing her from somewhere.
"Desiree?" she asked, getting a slightly nervous look on her face.
"Oh em gee!" Desiree clapped her hands together, "You're the Pee Pants Claudia! What's up, Pee Pants?"
"...I was hoping that you all would've forgotten that. I did move back to London shortly after..."
"Nope! It's okay, though! I won't tell anyone you peed your pants in school!"
Claudia dropped her head in embarrassment as some of the others chuckled and giggled. Some exceptions were Percival and Peggy, but the reactions were mostly the same. The next boat came along, this one with not one, but two more girls in it. The most notable one was much taller than the rest of the girls, even reaching a height slightly above Gene. Her skin was lightly suntanned, and she had black hair, which was wavy until it reached the hand-curled ends at her shoulders. Her eyes were a sharp red, and her gaze struck the hearts of almost all of the boys, making each and everyone of them blush. She wore a short cut, red dress, one which had a black sash around the waist, and a black jacket over it, with the sleeves rolled up to her shoulders. She also had black stilettoes that looked kind of dangerous from a glance, and to top off the ensemble, a red sun hat with a white ribbon around it. Meanwhile, the other girl was clinging onto her for dear life. She was, like Hellen, of Asian descent, with black eyes that were widened as far as possible. She was absolutely terrified of her current situation, and it wasn't hard to tell. Her hair was dyed a maroon color, though it wasn't very visible, considering the hoodie she was wearing. It was striped, green and blue, with the hood tightened as tight as it possibly could've been, hiding much of her face. She also wore a pair of black pants, ones which had some speckles of dirt on them, and a pair of white sneakers. The taller girl carried her off of the boat, setting her down gently on the dock before grabbing both of their things.
"There's Roxy and Veronica!" Chris greeted them, "Sorry you had to buddy up with Miss Scared of Her Own Shadow, Roxy."
"Eh, it's alright," the tall girl replied in a sweet voice, "I'm just glad to have been able to help."
"B-b-boats are the worst!" Veronica squeaked, "I-I-I can't do boats..."
"You'll be able to conquer that fear someday," Roxy assured her, patting her on the back and causing the poor girl to run into the group in fear, before running right back to her.
"T-t-too many new faces. I-I-I need time to adjust..."
"I'll walk you over there, then."
Roxy held Veronica's hand, pulling her along as she approached the group with both of their bags in her other hand. Duke was quick to run over and offer to help.
"You can let the Dukester take those bags, ma'am!" he offered, "Surely a gorgeous lady like you doesn't need to carry her things by herself."
"Ugh, you're one of those people. Blah, blah, 'Roxy, you're so pretty, let me get that for you!' Boooooring."
Duke's jaw dropped as the two passed him by, the scaredy cat glancing over at him whilst still clutching Roxy's arm in fear. She lightly waved to him, but was quick to hide from sight again. Finally, the last boat made its way to the dock, this one with a gargantuan boy on board. He wasn't quite as pale as some of the others, but he wasn't tan, either. He was quite buff, just like Duke, and the wrestler got a weird vibe from him. His hair was black, and done in a low fade, and it was matched well by his tired, green eyes. Despite the heat, he wore a heavy, brown jacket, one that everyone could tell was fluffy on the inside, and a pair of black pants, which were tucked into black, steel-toed boots, so clean that they twinkled in the light. He got off of the boat without a single bag, approaching Chris and looking down on him as if he was an ant.
"And last but not least, Josef!" Chris held out his fist for a friendly fist bump, though the boy merely looked at it warily.
"You try to punch me like this?" he asked, offended by the gesture, "We're not even acquainted yet! The nerve of these 'celebrities.'"
He was quick to join the rest of the group, slightly bumping into Duke.
"Hey, watch it!" the wrestler growled, "You don't wanna make the champ angry!"
"You are meathead," Josef was quick to insult, "Quick to be aggressive. I'll keep eye on you from now on."
"Meathead!? Oh, I'll show you a meathead!"
"Gentlemen!" Chris spoke over the two. "We don't need to fight right now, let's just enjoy that everyone is here and we can finally split you up into teams!"
"Teams?" Lyle asked, intrigued, "How many of us are on a team?"
"Well, there's twenty-two of you, so we'll do two teams of eleven. They've already been shuffled up and decided by our producers, so let's get right into it. For our first team, we have...Bobby, Lukas, Gene, Peggy, Annalise, Desiree, Josef, Duke, Elicia, Harriett, and Lyle! From this point on, you'll be known as...the Killer Bass!"
"Killer?" Bobby chuckled, thinking about the word, "That's pretty cool, don't you guys think?"
"Oh, yeah!" Elicia cheered, "And I'm sure we'll all be a great team!"
"Maybe some of you will," Annalise mumbled, glaring at the imbeciles of the group.
"As far as our other team goes...Claudia, Rolf, Percival, Evander, Colleen, Veronica, Roxy, Leslie, Wendell, Francis, and Hellen! You're gonna be...the Screaming Gophers!"
"Gophers?" Evander scoffed, "That isn't very cool, chief."
"Hey, with people like you, anything can be cool!" Leslie added, still bouncing.
"Interesting...yes...that'll do just fine," Wendell muttered under his breath.
"Now that that's all settled, we should probably get you guys all set up in your cabins," the host continued, gesturing to the campsite behind them, "The cabin on the right will be for the Bass, and the cabin on the left will hold the Gophers. Don't worry, there's two sides, one for girls, and one for the boys. In the campsite, you'll also find the main lodge, in which our camp chef will feed you. You can head over there after you're all set up in your rooms. But one last little thing-"
Confessional
"The confessional booth!" Chris continued, now appearing in a dinky, little outhouse of sorts, "In here, you can talk about whatever you want, and no one will hear you...well, aside from the viewing world."
"Well, this place is a nice little addition to this show," Hellen noted, flipping to a page in her journal, "Did you know that over one hundred people have drowned in outhouses before? That is quite fascinating to me."
"This is filthy and vile!" Colleen complained, "I will have that Chris do a deep cleaning of it at once! This is no way to treat your guests!"
"At least I can hide from the bullies in here," Francis mumbled, "Sometimes I wish I was like Johnny Fargo, legendary badass that stopped the sands in Killer Quicksand 2: It's Getting Quicker."
Confessional End
In the boys' side of the Gophers' cabin, there were already people picking which bunk they wanted, and who got to sleep near them. Of course, Evander took the top bunk above Percival's bed, while making sure that Francis' bunk was as far away from his own as possible. Wendell took a bottom bunk and tossed his things on the top bunk above him, making sure nobody else would be able to sleep there. Then, above Francis, Rolf took that top bunk, already tapping away like crazy on his laptop.
"Hey, how come you get to have two bunks to yourself?" Francis meekly asked Wendell.
"Did you want to come and move my things?" the Australian boy snapped, "I'd welcome you to come try."
"Yikes, that dude seems like one wicked stromboli," Evander nudged Percival.
"I'm...not sure I know what that means," the knight replied with a look of confusion upon his face.
"Shush, shush!" Rolf looked down at everyone, annoyed by the noise they were making. "I'm trying to get work done, here! I need absolute silence!"
Confessional
"Trapped in a cabin with one cool guy and three weirdoes," Evander sighed, "Things aren't looking as cool as they should be. But hey, things'll turn out right once Evander gets his style infecting the island!"
Confessional End
Meanwhile, in the Bass' girls cabin, Annalise was very adamant about getting her own bunk, not letting anyone bunk below her, as all of her makeup and beauty supplies were stationed down there. Desiree and Elicia watched from their shared bunk, the latter not caring for the beauty-obsessed girl's attitude, while the former found herself excited with the chatter. Harriett was arguing with Annalise from the floor, while Peggy sat on her own bed, trying not to get in anyone's way.
"What's your deal!?" Harriett griped at the beauty queen, "You can't just take that bunk for yourself, we should all share it for our extra stuff!"
"Don't you have a massive backpack for this sort of thing?" Annalise yawned as she spoke, bored of the arguing, "You can all use that. I won't let any of you touch my things, or come close to doing so."
"This is great!" Desiree cheered, "I'm gonna learn so many interesting things from all of you! I can tell already!"
"This is what interests you?" Elicia asked, confused, "It doesn't seem that great to me...just kind of obnoxious."
Peggy sighed as the group continued to disagree with each other, feeling quite out of place among them.
Confessional
"I don't know if this was a great idea," Peggy mumbled, "Coming to this island, I mean...the other girls on my team don't seem to get along. I guess I should just be thankful that they aren't harassing me or anything like that. But...that Lukas boy was really nice. I like him."
Confessional End
Not long after, the group found themselves in the main lodge, each of them standing in a line as a hulking man with a mean glare on his face stared them down. He wore a camp chef's uniform, letting them know just what position he was holding here, though his attitude gave off a much different vibe.
"My name is Chef Hatchet," he announced, continuing to glare among the group, "You will refer to me as 'Chef' and you will give me the respect that I deserve! I fought in wars, man! I've seen things you could never begin to imagine seeing! Meal times are consistent, and if you miss one, you don't get to make up for it later! Do I make myself clear, maggots?"
"Chef, yes, Chef!" Bobby answered, saluting the man.
Chef rolled his eyes at the group, heading back into the kitchen as Chris entered the building to take his place.
"How'd you all like your new rooms?" he asked, snickering slightly from knowing that they weren't exactly luxurious.
"They were wonderful," Claudia replied, not a hint of sarcasm to her voice, "Thank you for offering us such nice lodgings."
"Uh...right. Well, anyways, I thought that you all may like to know that we're gonna be holding the very first challenge for you guys in one hour!"
"A challenge already!?" Veronica squeaked in fear, "B-b-but we haven't had time to prepare!"
"Bah, who needs prep time? Chef'll lead you to the location where I'll be waiting to give ya the hot deats! See you all in an hour! Oh, and make sure to wear your bathing suits!"
The host chuckled a little, leaving the lodge almost as soon as he had entered it. The contestants glanced among themselves, intrigued to find out what exactly they'd be partaking in on day one.
"A challenge this early?" Gene stroked his chin in confusion, "What do you think it could be?"
"I hope it's not something crazy," Peggy mumbled.
"In a show like this?" Josef rolled his eyes, "Death traps are waiting at every turn, he's leading us into them."
"No way," Roxy chuckled, "It's the first challenge. We'll probably just have to swim laps or something dumb like that."
Most of the group joined in laughter, but it was short lived. They had no idea that, in just one hour, they would find themselves atop the thousand foot cliff, staring down into dangerous waters.
